Funny nobody mentions penicillin, a lot of us might not even have been born without it. Sometimes the little things change the world far more than the big ones.

What makes the discovery of Pencilin any more important that that of the rabies-vaccine or the small pox-vaccine? Or even the polio vaccine? Eradicating small pox was probably the most important medical milestone.
Rabies-vaccine and small pox-vaccine have its place in saving people's live, but the discovery of penicillin had\has and will have a great importance for world and opened the door for the other medical cures. The discovery of penicillin changed the world of medicine enormously. With its development, infections that were previously severe and often fatal, like bacterial endocarditis, bacterial meningitis and pneumococcal pneumonia, could be easily treated.....and let's say that you are in 1920 have an tonsil infection ,that is very easy to get what would you prefer the discovery of penicillin or the rabies -vaccine?

My event toplist:
- Cellphone
- Internet

But what was the best event for humanity is my question!
And what will become the best event for us in the future.
"what will become the best event for us in the future."....I will say ...Bitcoin.....it started 3 years ago ,is changing today’s world and tomorrows world.
1303  Other / Off-topic / Re: Favourite cartoon show on: May 29, 2014, 03:27:27 PM
Modern cartoons are just different. Fairy odd parents is great, adventure time is great, hell, even phineas and ferb is awesome.

But for childhood... Finnish "Muumit" which tells about everyday life of nudist trolls who live in a valley.
Touche.. I do like Adventure time and Phineas and Ferb. But I feel like when ever I see a new cartoon it is just the same thing trying to be random and weird, nothing really new.
1304  Other / Off-topic / Re: Video: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW on: May 29, 2014, 03:19:50 PM
Snowden has rankled the government with the gravity of his findings. He could end up dead as a result. Worse things have resulted from this level of anger our government has shown at this breach of security. To them, he is a threat to their covert activity, We The People see him as a person who realizes that our security is compromised more by phone surveillance than its benefits, in whatever imagined or real wars are being fought.
1305  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best energy drink on: May 29, 2014, 02:58:25 PM
i'd love to drink gatorade last year
but never drink that anymore, not so good for health if we drink energy drink too much

I will not classify Gatorade as an energy drink. It is more of a mineral / fluid replenisher than an energy drink. It contains no added Caffeine or Taurine, unlike most of the energy drinks.
Sure, it is an energy drink. Not the same way that Red Bull or Monster are as they contain caffeine & Gatorade does not. But, Gatorade has a proper blend of sugar & salt (electrolytes) and water. This will hydrate your cells efficiently & therefore provide energy, just not the energy boost from caffeinated beverages.
You can consider it an energy, personally I don't consider it an energy drink. It has electrolytes (which does energize you), and a lot of carbohydrates. The carbohydrates also add energy, but they are mainly for your muscle development. It is a quick and low burst of energy to keep you alert and hydrated during high motion or calorie burning activities. If you drink it while not doing anything, it will make you hyper and it will cause an increase in weight because of all the carbohydrates.
1306  Economy / Economics / Re: The American Dream on: May 29, 2014, 02:56:44 PM
Thomas Jefferson – “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the very continent their fathers conquered!”
1307  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "No Way To Prevent This," Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens on: May 29, 2014, 07:20:28 AM
That stigma exists because our society chooses to make it exist. There were plenty of warning signs that this murderer exhibited prior to his deed. Seven cops visited him, and he talked them down. His therapist was alarmed by his sessions. His parents knew he was disturbed. Everyone chose to do nothing.
Then our society chooses to address the issue by oh I don't know raising awareness about mental health and violent self entitlement. There were plenty of warning signs pointing to these things before the latest deed. A shooting every other month, and we hear about access to guns and magazine size. Mental health professionals are alarmed by a public obsessed with the lurid, and quickly tired by the intellectual. Everyone knows this isn't right.

People are dead because of a stupid stigma about mental illness.

Sorry that I don't think that's something to mock.
1309  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "No Way To Prevent This," Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens on: May 29, 2014, 07:10:12 AM
The problem is you got the issue right but all people want to talk about is GUN CONTROL GUN CONTROL!!
Ban mental illness!
1310  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Snowden should 'man-up' and face trial: says SOS John Kerry on: May 29, 2014, 07:05:25 AM
"Kerry should fuck off and shut the fuck up" says wachtwoord on the bitcointalk forums.

yeah agreed as the US gov already made charges against him, I feel bad for him his life is ruined from this point on, I wonder if he has any regrets doing this.  I think as of us Americans we need to stand up for the man
It wont happen the American became a country where they turn there cheek when there is an issue.  let me tell you a story one day I was in a subway station in new york an African American male was banged his GF so hard you heard it loud from the other side of the car, he continued to make threats, everyone was looking but they look like they would do something but they didnt say a word.  I had to get up and I said " Hey!! That is enough!!!!.  Then the group of teens joined in with me.  I told the girl to get off this station and there is a police officer.  I helped the girl from getting abused, who knows how bad things would have gotten if I wasnt there to make a stand.  This is the place we live in today, where we turn our other cheek when someone might be crying for help but they are to scared too.
1311  Other / Politics & Society / Events that changed the world... on: May 28, 2014, 03:44:39 PM
What do you think were the most significant events of the 19th, 20th or 21st century? Wars, Revolutions, Political Ideology, Technological innovations? What events do you think truly changed the world?
1312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Favorite political figure? on: May 28, 2014, 03:03:24 PM
Mine would be Napoleon Bonaparte! He was a great French emperor who was loved by a lot of his subjects. When he was exiled by his political foes, he chose to escape captivity and marched a small army to Paris itself! Cheesy And when he was confronted by the enemy (his former) army, he said "If there is one of you who would kill his Emperor, here I am." They instead surrendered to him and joined him to claim France back into his rule. Too bad he was not an economist. He barely ruled for 100 days after his return from exile.
Napoleon Bonaparte was indeed a great man... Besides being a great military leader he has contributed in various different ways.. The way he had reorganized the legal structure of France was revolutionary..
1313  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Thai military seizes power in coup on: May 28, 2014, 02:23:12 PM
As I can remember it is not the fist time Thailand experiences the deep interference of army in their life, even in the capital Bangkok. I have some friends who lived their during the riot time. I bet some talk with them may bring very interesting points of view from "inside people".
The main purpose behind these riots is royal succession and I guess it is going to continue until the former prime minister is removed. Death and injuries are being reported following clashes between military guards and demonstrators.

reported where?

Im going to call bull shit.
"After Thursday’s putsch, Thais anxiously await some news on the future of their nation. Half a year of political deadlock has led to at least 28 deaths and 700 people injured, but there are few clues regarding how Thai Army chief Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha can solve the crisis after seizing control"

if you are a native english speaker you are a moron.

if not they are talking about why the coup happened not what happened after.

No deaths and pretty much no clashing.
Was i talking about what happend after????No!I was talking about "The coup" that  came two days after martial law was enacted, capping months of political deadlock and street protests that have killed 28 people and injured hundreds more.

Mao Ze-Dong  is in the top of the list when it comes to make a “list” with the worst genocides of the 20th and 21st Centuries.”The Chinese cultural revolution caused the death of 30 million people (according to the current Chinese government), but many died of hunger. “

Here is my favorite. I don't agree with him on policies such as international immigration, but definitely he is one of the best politicians right now.

The picture is epic!I could say "Putin is stronger than a bear"!But your right ,he is one of the politicians that is not puppet from behind by others.
1316  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Favorite political figure? on: May 28, 2014, 12:30:41 PM
Hello everyone! Just thought we could share political figures which inspire us with each other.
You can choose from either past or present! No matter from which country.

I'll start!

Mine would be Alexander the Great!

Born to King Philip II in 356 BC, he had everything. He was a prince to a mighty kingdom, yet unlike many spoiled rich brats who end up squandering their parent's empire like many we see today, he had an intense dislike of his father, and he transformed that dislike into an overwhelming desire and pit-less ambition to achieve more than him.

When his father launched a military campaign and conquered almost all of Greece, he famously complained "My father will go on conquering until there is nothing extraordinary left for me to do."

When he was 20, his father was murdered by a courtier. The cities which was under his father's rule rise up in rebellion, dreaming of freedom. However, even though he was advised by advisers to proceed cautiously, in a show of strength, he marched to the furthest reaches of his kingdom crushing every rebellion along the way.

This is a man who would end up conquering most of Asia and created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, a task he undertook when he was crowned as king when merely 20 years of age.

There is much we can learn from Alexander.

Who is your inspiration?
It is in fact the only story I remember about Alexandr the Great. Before he died, he ask people to let his hands out of the coffin. What he meant was: I left with my bared hands. (correct me if I am wrong)
Just wonder why he killed so many people while always being aware that some day he would leave with the bared hands.
He killed so many people, because he was a conqueror and that's what conquerors do! His contributions to what is considered the Hellenistic culture, notwithstanding, and his military strategies and successful imperialistic campaign...but, can you truly consider him an inspiration? Maybe, if he had lived longer a true evaluation could be reached regarding how he chose to rule his empire. He's an interesting historical figure.

I'm not surprised. U.S Also supported Bin Laden back in the days. When he refused to take orders from U.S, he was eliminated as quickly as possible, or maybe got a new identity, we never saw the body.
