1301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Do Gamblers Do This? on: February 21, 2023, 04:45:40 PM
In this forum and other forums where gambling is one of the topics of discussion, one of the recurrent topics is people who write about how their gambling addiction has ruined their lives. We usually encounter topics like "Gambling ruined my life,"  "I lost all my life savings to gambling,"  "I gambled away my entire salary," etc. Then they go on to tell a sad tale. It makes me wonder: why do gamblers tend to wait until they have suffered a catastrophic loss or a string of losses before quitting or seeking help?

Why would anyone care to post if they are winning. It's only when they have lost it they tend to share their story.
They know there's nothing they can do about it and sharing things lessens the burden and gets sympathy from others.
Also, it gives them a hope that someone might have the solution to their problem. This is why many share their story only when have lost it all.
1302  Local / India / Re: What topic would encourage Indian board Merit source to get activated? on: February 21, 2023, 04:31:01 PM
I have been and a handful of few others creating topics, engaging on threads still none of the Merit sources think or felt like they should encourage members like us with Merits. Why?

This board is dried down with full of spam and none to support those genuinely trying to bring it back. In my opinion it is better to close this board and give opportunities to those countries like Pakistan who have been asking for a local board.

If anyone here agree with me then do leave a reply. I am frustrated and more over now I feel this board is a waste of my time and everyone who post here as none of the Merit sources are either active or have any intention to support us.

If a merit source doesn't reply on this thread in a month time then it is better to close this board or hand over merit source to someone else. This is what I am going to ask from @theymos.

From my perspective, the major concern is not merits but user engagement on the Indian local board.
Our priority is to keep the discussions active. Getting merits on posts should not be our priority and  that's why asking merit source to support won't do us any good.
If at all we want the Indian board to be alive and active then we will have to bring in more people and keep them engaged with discussions.
As we all have previously discussed, the issue here is the language. Since India has so many languages there is no one language that can be used through the board.
Most people prefer English but then that is the global language used in the forum which again keeps people from posting in this board.
They prefer posting in other boards which are less spammy and more engaging. I guess there's no solution to this after all.
1303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've invested around 450 dollars into bitcoin so far and I am 16 years old on: February 20, 2023, 03:41:23 PM
Currently, I am a sophomore in high school. I learned about btc from my dad and btc blew my mind and I was hooked. I've been pretty much putting all that I can into it for a year and a half now. Are there any tips you guys give me? 2/3 of my bitcoin is in Stockpile and the other third is with my dad (I'm not sure how he's storing it). At this moment I own a total of 0.01798185 bitcoin Smiley

Great going bud. You are quite young to enter into bitcoin and it's impressive you are learning more about it.
Keep learning and keep accumulating more BTC. In the next 10 years you will just be 26 but you will have a lot what others won't have.
In terms of knowledge as well as in terms of wealth. So keep doing what you are doing and stay active in this forum.
1304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ego and too much confidence are dangerous in investing. on: February 20, 2023, 03:36:23 PM
2021 I started my journey here in crypto, I was lucky because I was able to invest in other cryptos before it went all the way up. NFTs, P2E games, airdrops and hyped shitcoins lol. Of course I earned a lot and since it's my first time I became very confident thinking I'm so smart lol Grin. I have more money to spare, so I end up investing left and right carelessly thinking i will earn more but the truth is majority of those i have invested are lost money because of bear market, scam projects and rugpulled shitcoins. I think I am not for crypto Sad.

That feeling of regret can make you feel shitty about yourself but don't lose hope as long as you are here.
Many of us would have committed the same mistakes as you did but we learn from our own mistakes and you should too.
Also, everyone becomes a good trader in a bull market but not many can survive the bear market.
Hold yourself up with whatever you have and wait for the bull run again and then take the profits out while you still have them.
Sustaining profits is the biggest challenge in investing where many fail.
1305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your profit taking strategy? on: February 20, 2023, 03:32:15 PM
I have only been in crypto 14 months and it is only in the last 3 or 4 weeks with Bitcoin pumping that I have seen some profits.

I took out my initial investment in two of the altcoins I hold once they 2x so now have free money in them that I am hoping will see some good returns in the next bull run.

It got me thinking what is the best way to take profits and if taking out my investment at 2x was a clever move or if I did so too early?

Just wondering what everyone else does when it comes to taking profits?

I have made many mistakes myself by not taking out the profits while it lasted.
Trusting a project deeply is one thing and taking out the profits on regular basis is another thing.
I think other than bitcoin and ethereum all other projects are those where we should take out the profits on regular basis.
For bitcoin and ethereum it can be a good thing to hold for long term.
1306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give it a break. on: February 20, 2023, 02:57:53 PM
Give yourself a break.
This is one measure or strategy I use in my gambling technique to curtail losses upon more losses. Immediately I realize I have made many streaks like about 5 to 7 streaks for the week and I haven't made any win at least out of these numbers of streaks the next action is to give it a break for another new week to come. Believing that it's not my week and there's no need trying more as I will only end up break my bank for nothing at the end.
I do this for a long time now and it works for me by saving me from incurring wasteful losses and also having/saving me some money  for the next week to come. Indirectly this strategy also help to moderate my gambling habit and uncontrollable addiction tendency, and it also provide me the chance of having money for any winning opportunity that might come up for the new as I gamble.

At this point what do you think about this gambling strategy I use? Although yours may not be with 5-7 streaks in a week you can also set a number of streaks convenient with you to use. Or is there anyone out there already using this strategy and how beneficial has it being to you?

That's a good strategy because I have been doing it myself for the past couple of years and it has been working out great.
Even if I win or lose I tend to keep my streak limited to 3-4 streaks per week.
This helps me to control my losses, saves me from over gambling, saves my time and also keeps me away from gambling addiction.
1307  Local / India / Re: Separate section for crypto in new ITR forms on: February 20, 2023, 02:39:55 PM
So the new budget guidelines have been announced and it has been said that the new ITR forms will have a separate section for crypto income.
A tax rate of 30% would be applicable for any income from transfer of cryptocurrencies. No deductions or exemptions allowed on such incomes.

Crypto trading has become legal in India after all  Tongue but it's just that the high tax rate which is bothering many crypto enthusiasts in India.
Are you guys going to fill up the crypto section in the new ITR forms ?

I guess we don't really need to fill it up until we exchange the coins for INR and withdraw to our bank account.
How would the government know if I hold any coins ?

Source: https://www.outlookindia.com/business/new-itr-forms-have-separate-section-for-crypto-income-details-here-news-262204
Interesting news. But obviously, as the income has been taxed now they would want the complete detail of the income you have earned along with how much amount you are deducting as the cost of acquisition. But yes as you said tracing the actual amount both for sales & purchase is difficult especially if the transaction is done on some foreign exchanges. I think the bigger puzzle right now for most of the crypto folks is the TDS on cryptos, government has not given any schema or form for it so far but has already started levying penalty for it which is quite strange.

Is it so ?  Sad
I thought there would be some common section for TDS while filling the ITR forms.

No, so I am talking about this from the deductor's perspective. If you deduct the TDS of someone, then you will have to deposit that Tax with the government and then file a return with the Income tax department denoting that for which PAN have you deducted the tax for. For this case there is a separate form which they told they will come out with for deposit of the TDS but last I checked there was no new schema for upload of this Return.

May be it is still under development. Now that they have announced that there will be a separate section for crypto may be the schema will be uploaded soon.
I have hardly made 3-4 transactions on WazirX this year for which they have deducted TDS. I don't think I will be putting it up on the ITR as they were of small amounts.

I will fill it in as I have made a few transactions Grin. I am not sure how many here would tell the truth:Smiley. The only option left for me after this financial year is to move to a crypto friendly country. Still not sure which one to choose but currently in the process of finding one.

So you have made transactions from crypto to INR and withdrawn to bank account ?
In that case you need to fill the ITR form but if it's just crypto to crypto then I don't think you need to fill the ITR forms.

Example: It may become 1 RP = 0.75 sats or 0.5 sats but they wont increase it to 1 RP = 1.5 sats
So it's better to exchange it now while the exchange limit is reasonably well and enjoy the 4% APY on it.
They aren't going to decrease the exchange rate of RP. Because we receive most of the RP by playing the multiply BTC game. And the wagering ratio for getting 1 RP remains same always. We (some forum members) had some discussions about it with TheQuin a few months ago when Bitcoin price was above $50k. Anyway, it is always better to exchange the RP into BTC for getting the benefits of 4% APY.

You're right. The RP exchange rate and wagering size for getting 1 RP in the hi/lo game didn't change even when BTC was $68k. However, I guess if BTC rose to $250k-$500k one day, the freebitcoin team would probably make some adjustments. Even if the freebitcoin team doesn't plan to change the RP exchange rate, they will at least continue to reduce the size of all prizes in the wheel of fortune, including the RP prize. The prize would probably be only 1-2 RP in that case.

Yes ofcourse. We have already seen how the reward amount changed from when BTC price was around $68k to when BTC price was around $17k.
So it's quite obvious that the base reward will reducing as the BTC price increases and vice versa.
I wonder what they will do to the exchange price of 1 RP = 1 Satoshi when BTC price crosses $500k.

1311  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are Address Poisoning Scams? on: February 18, 2023, 11:02:26 AM
I did know that scammers make near to zero transactions to many different addresses but I had heard that they do it for tracking the addresses.
I always wondered what could be the reason someone would track the addresses but I guess the real reason is what OP has mentioned in his post.
Copying addresses is where many people in crypto community have made mistakes and lost their coins.
I have a general practice to copy the address from wallet and reverify every alphabet of the address after pasting.
It hardly takes a minute but saves us our precious coins.
1312  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: February 18, 2023, 10:50:12 AM
Because of this thread, I have a friend who works with me, I brought up the idea that I could play through a casino app. Where will she enjoy slots and poker and how does she prefer it, in a computer version or on a phone? She said yes, that it's more comfortable for her with an app, that she wouldn't enter a casino from her phone's browser for the world because she doesn't trust sites like this, but through an app she feels safer, and she has her point because for her it's better this way because she knows that when she goes into the app she won't be in danger of entering different urls.

That is a very valid point. Mobile browsers also displays annoying popups, redirects to different URLs, downloads automatically if not managed in settings etc...
On the other hand, mobile apps these days explicitly require us to grant them permissions to access our storage and settings.
Apps are easier to manage when compared to phone browsers. But it's always best to use desktop browsers instead for a better user experience.
1313  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any Casino Android software on: February 18, 2023, 10:40:52 AM
-----

How do you know about that many gamblers want to use android application? Are they real players? I still believe that real players will still prefer playing in online casinos through web browser on their PC. I my self not attracted to gamble with android application, simply because I tried it in the past in fiat casinos but the experience is still much better when I play through web browser. So far I still unable to see crypto casino with a success of providing android application and I think it is not really wanted by players because most popular and reputable casinos are providing mobile version already which is more than enough for players if they want to play on the go with their phone.
yes, of course. in my city there are still many gamblers who often gamble using android applications.
If you compare with online casino players, of course more people like to gamble at online casinos for various reasons of convenience, etc.
I myself also prefer to gamble in online casinos and I use my mobile browser more often.

In essence, what is certain, to my real knowledge, is that in several places, of course, there are also gamblers who prefer to bet on Android applications.

It's true that many gamblers prefer desktop browsers for gambling rather than mobile applications.
The user experience in desktop browsers is far more better than mobile applications.
But at the same time there are also people who don't have enough access to desktop browsers and play on their mobile phones.
Since phones are easier to access, some people also gamble on their phones while traveling.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa will show it whether Arsenal is really capable of holding the ground or not.
Despite the poor performance from Arsenal they are still getting a good support from the community.
The odds are on the favor of Arsenal. Lets see Aston Villa steals the show or Arsenal really takes it up one step further.
Arsenal will go better against Aston Villa they can survive with a win. I'm sure that the slump will not continue because in theory Arsenal are currently quite good in terms of their game so maybe in this game they will move on with the points won.
Obviously we will focus on Arsenal as his favorite team, Arteta and his team will not let them drop any more points after the last 3 matches so I think they can extend the win again.
Arsenal are still in form. Their recent losses were due to overconfidence with less caution, just like the first two goals they conceded against City which was due to poor back passes. In performance they did better than City so against Aston Villa they won't want to make similar mistakes again. Arteta should have scolded his boys after the poor tackle in their last three games. Aston Villa should resume Arsenals winning streak starting from Aston Villa

I guess you are right. Over confidence can really degrade one's performance and that's what happened to Brazil in Fifa.
The same would have happened to Arsenal this time in the EPL. Only time will tell if Aston Villa really takes it away from Arsenal or not.
1315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is suitable and reliable for staking? on: February 17, 2023, 04:13:30 PM
Whenever you have a list of options and you are confused which to invest in then just pick the top ranking ones and invest in all of them.
For example: from your list, pick 3-5 top ranking ones and invest in all of them and then start staking.
Diversification is the key when it comes to value investing. Diversification lowers the risk of liquidation and gives a better average return.
1316  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If it was you on: February 17, 2023, 04:06:02 PM
Between future and spot trading which will you opt in for. For me i think it is better to start with spot trading gradually observe how the market respond over time before moving into future trading. Both are indeed volatile and risky but i think spot which involves immediate buying and holding until price goes up to sell at a profit is more easier to start than making prediction on a price to either go up or come down on a later date.

Spot can be a nice start for newbies from what i have seen from the market so far. Since it only entails buying and holding until the asset appreciates just that it will only require patience since little or no technical skill is needed although with technical skill the trader can have more advantage over the market.

I know how much attractive futures trading can be when you start trading but once you get into it, only then you find out it's dark side.
It feels good when you invest a small amount yet see good amount of profits using a higher leverage.
The reality kicks in when the market goes against you and you start losing your money rapidly.
You save your positions by adding more funds to the trade but at one point you eventually give up and the funds are liquidated.
This happens many times to many people and the only solution to futures trading is to use a stop loss every time you trade.

I have learnt my lesson and stay away from futures. I stick to spot trading and enjoy lower profits with a peace of mind.
1317  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How I made my first $2000 through stock marketing on: February 17, 2023, 04:00:25 PM
My first experience about Bitcoin,
I was busy saying Bitcoin is a scam for about let me say 1 year and some month not untill a friend of mine was into forex trading so I visited him and I was watching what he was doing so one day he made a big hit for about $2000 for just a night. And That's what push me more to trade Bitcoin with forex trading I didn't pay to learn.
But now am not into forex trading am into stock marketing.
I buy when the price is low and sell when the price increaseses.
And That's how I made my first $1000

There are a lot of factors that come into play when you are trading. Your friend must have good skills to get a good amount of profit or he must be lucky.
You on the other hand, are starting to trade just now and you must pay attention to a lot of things.
You should start learning how to trade because if you don't then amount you won can be 10 times more in loss.
At the end of the day, if you are not learning from your trading experience then it is just gambling and not trading.
You should learn, adapt, overcome and improvise to sustain your growth in trading.
1318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 17, 2023, 03:49:19 PM
How Arsenal reacts to that psychologically is of critical importance for their title fight. They had it in their pocket with 12 points difference at some point but now they have put it at a really big risk with their recent decline in performance in the last games.

If Arsenal wins this upcoming game it will be a relief from them psychologically as they will not be impacted that bad by the lost game against Manchester City but if they do not win this upcoming game, this will have a huge impact psychologically and it will be really bad for their title fight, most likely they won't recover if they lose this upcoming game.

BTW it looks like the price of BTC will always be bullish until the next halving
If there is a correction then it is just a way to make the price even higher, but will it be able that Bitcoin price to pass $30,000 this month? I hope it happens next month because I follow the BTC price prediction and my prediction is below $23,000 hopefully it will be like that and then it will go even higher.

It's still more than a year away from the next BTC halving, but the recent BTC pump up to $25k could really be a potential harbinger of a bullish trend. If that's the case, we can assume that $15.5k was the bottom, and we will never see BTC below that level again. As for betting, I wouldn't expect BTC to reach $30k by the end of this month. The range of $25k to $27.5k will probably be preferable to place bets on the freebitcoin site this time.

The ideal range would be either $22.5k - $25k or $25k - $27.5k the latter being the riskier.
We have seen the price was dumped at $25k and currently fluctuating around $24k.
I guess this time it is easier to bet on ETH price since the price is in the ideal range of $1500 - $1750.
Most probably it will stay in the same range until the end of the month.
1320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have always wanted to ask this about bitcoin on: February 16, 2023, 04:54:28 PM
Will people still use or buy bitcoin till today if all it has to offer is the decentralized characteristic only, I am trying to say that if bitcoin is stable in value from day one and has no investment ability will you still buy it?

if all it has to offer is moving money around and no volatility, will Bitcoin be your favorite still? Drop your thoughts and let's see.

I am thinking that the Volatile is what makes bitcoin a must have for almost everybody, think I am wrong?

And people won't see a reason to buy Bitcoin if there were no Volatility from day one.

At present, most of the people buy bitcoin because of it is being utilized as a store of value.
The price keeps changing, increasing over the long term which makes people to actually HOLD it for a longer term.
IF bitcoin was somehow stable, which it cannot be since it is decentralized, then people would still buy it and make transactions but just that they won't be holding it for longer terms.
They would be using it for day to day transactions which is the real motive why bitcoin was actually created.
