Thanks TryNinja. There any way to do this with the Android app? I mainly use an Android phone and a Windows 7 laptop that cannot be upgraded (no matter how hard I try). Or do I need to simply switch wallets?
I can't say for sure. I tried to create the same wallet in the android app, but I couldn't find a BIP39 seed option to specify the derivation path, so I don't think it's possible right now.

Probably. But it's actually pretty simple. If you want to do it: 1. Go to iancoleman's BIP39 seed generator[1] (optional - download the source code and run offline for better security); 2. Select 12 words and generate a new seed; 3. SAVE THIS SEED AND DON'T LOSE IT! You can't see it again in Electrum and without the seed you can't restore your wallet in the future; 4. Download Electrum[2]; 5. While creating the wallet, select: Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed -> Paste the seed from step 2. 6. Click Options -> check "BIP39 seed" -> Next. 7. In the Derivation part, paste m/49'/0'/0'/0 and click next. 8. Now you have an Segwit wallet with addresses starting with 3.

Why do you think merit needs to be a coin? Why not make Merit and sMerit crypto tokens?
It's pointless, over complicated, doesn't need to have the properties of a token, and should be free to give, and not cost gas or whatever the fee is called for other chains with tokens. PSA: Every merit will be public soon (like the trust system, with a page showing every merit sent and earnt).

I think merit points should only stay if the post was deleted by a moderator, or the owner of a self moderated topic. If the post is deleted by the user, the sMerits should return to the person who gave the merits. If merit selling/trading was to get popular, it would be fairly easy to hide who you bought the merit from or traded with, as you could make a temp post, wait for them to "pay" the merit, and then delete it, hiding all traces of the "trade" from the general public. Thoughts?
I don't think it works like that. The merit point will still show on your profile along with the username that gave it to you, just the link with the reference will point to an invalid post. Lutpin was about to to test this... But is there is any way we can see the user's merit page like we do with the trust feedbacks? How can someone like Lauda or Vod see if the user is using alts to give himself merit after he deletes his posts? (so they can neg trust him)
Edit: theymos need to make a public list of sent and received merit of a user, like a trust summary. This will easily solve that problem. I will do this in the near future, maybe tomorrow. Also top merited posts/topics/users.

I don't know who will add +merit to newbies, because high ranks dont want to make more competitors for the signature campaigns.
That's simple not true. High ranks (or people who really care about this forum) don't care about competition. We care about not having our forum getting shited by you spammers and "sir i join your campaign and make money ok?" shitposters who only want to make money. Since reading is too damn hard for you, let me explain: do you want to rank up and make your goddamn money? Then do some posts that are not completely shit and YOU WILL GET MERIT. Newbies aren't supposed to give merit because a lot of spammers will start making tons of fake accounts to merit each other. I know that a lot of you will start complaining on how you can't rank up (and join your shit campaigns) because you can't make a proper post, but that's how things are going to work. Understood?

Is asking the same as spamming to you? I'm new here. Isn't it natural for me to ask questions? But I'm sorry if for you, this is spam. I will be more responsible with my actions. Thanks
You only registered in this forum to rank up and join a shitcoin campaign to make money. You don't care about this forum and IMO we don't need people with this kind of metality in here. P.s: After a quick look at your post history, I see that you are indeed a spammer. Who would have thought?

What about those people who demerited someone? They have already added the smerits to their balances.
Fixed already. It's actually gone, those are just cached.
I am definitely for all improvements to the forum and getting rid of spam posts. I just wish it started after the next rank up period as I was set to become a member with activity of 60. Thanks again for trying to make this a better system.
Just do quality posts. It's easy man!
I have 500 merits as hero member. Does it mean this is minimum and I can't lose it?
Yes, as no one can demerit you (for now). -snip
New users don't start with any sMerit.

I liked. The only issue is that there are already tons of spammers that will start with merit and can give them to his main account to rank up. This user now has a merit of -20 and the user who gave the negative merits still has 500.

Everybody, read this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350
when will I be a jr member and start joining a campaign?
With this mentality, you won't ever become a Member. This new system will kill almost every users who spams all day to rank up and join a campaign (just like you). Thank god!

All of those should be safe.
P.s: never heard of the Dash version, but since it's a subdomain on Dash's oficial website, it should be safe.

Just FYI, if you want to use Electrum but want a Segwit address starting with 3 (better compatibility), you can easily do it: 1. 7. (IIRC) the hashing power increased by ~20% in the last few weeks, lower transaction volume and the mempool is empty again[1]. P.S: That's a good time to move your funds to a Segwit address. Do it! [1] https://dedi.jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#24h

No and (probably) there will never be one until the new forum software is released (no ETA).
There won't be any app even after the new forum software is released. Why would this forum need a mobile app? Epochtalk is already responsive (scalable, optimized for all screen sizes). Try visit beta.bitcointalk.org from your phone Because IIRC the new forum will have an API, so anyone (or a selected group of people) will be allowed to create apps if they want. With the current forum software, there is no API and you can't perfectly scrape from the forum since bots are blocked by cloudfare and reCAPTCHA.

Amazing how'd you opened an slot tentatively to accept the new DT member whom you declined an entry earlier.
What's the point of this post? That's what DarkStar said when he "declined" The Pharmacist last time: Username: The Pharmacist Post Count: 6951 BTC Address: 1As24mzicrYQLXDEWKGQ8ZjeyvYhgWLRAx
I realize the campaign is full, but I'm giving it a shot here.
I'd *probably* accept you if we had open slots, but not under the exception unfortunately. Now that there was an open slot, he accepted him. What's the issue? wait a minute... The Pharmacist = DarkStar = Lauda = actmyname = thermos confirmed? :0

Most cryptocurrencies only have a BTC (or ETH) pair. This means that you will need to buy BTC or ETH before trading it for the altcoin. For the major countries, you can use Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Bitstamp, Localbitcoins, etc... If your country isn't supported by any of those, google "buy Bitcoin your-country" and do a little research to see if your local exchange can be trusted. Then, create an account at the exchange that has your desired altcoin, send the BTC/ETH to the exchange deposit address and trade to your altcoin. You can find where each altcoin can be traded at: https://coinmarketcap.com/

I have a regular computer with CORE I3, according to information here, it's said that it's very difficult to mine any coin.
Is it true?
You will barely get a few cents and spend a lot more in energy by using just a i3. If you really want to mine altcoins and earn money, you will probably need to buy a few GPU's. For example, if you mine at Nicehash with a i7-7700K (the one I have), you will end up earning only ~$40 per month (minus your energy bill). And that's not very profitable.

So, i can't use Bread to send to my new segwit electrum address, but i can use the same 12 words on electrum to send to a new electrum segwit address?
Seems like a matter of software only, right?
That's right. Breadwallet (and a lot of major exchanges/services) still doesn't consider bech32 addresses as valid. Electrum does.
