Arsenal star Dani Ceballos accidentally names Premier League restart date in interview

Premier League football looks set to restart on June 20 amid the coronavirus crisis as Dani Ceballos has let the return date slip after heading back to training with Arsenal

Hopefully that's true. If players have been given a date I don't know why it hasn't been made public.

Just heard that it's not just Deeney who doesn't wanna go back training.  A couple of his other team mates won't too.  And prolly some back room stuff.

The newest gossip is that Kante is refusing to train as well. He reported for the 1st training on Tuesday but apparently did not come yesterday.

It's not gossip; he's been allowed to miss training due to fears: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/11671335/kante-chelsea-training-coronavirus/

Quote
France World Cup winner Kante completed day one of Chelsea’s return to training on Tuesday after testing negative for coronavirus.

But it is believed he has concerns over the safety of going back to duty alongside his team-mates full time while England remains in lockdown.

As a result he was allowed to miss Wednesday’s session with the blessing of head coach Frank Lampard and the club.

He probably knows what he's team-mates have been up to  Cheesy.

This is by far the funniest thing I came across today: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8342165/Premier-League-stars-return-training-hampered-STICKY-BALLS-disinfectant.html

There have reportedly been issues with the disinfectant that clubs are spraying on footballs as part of hygiene measures.

In a reaction with the hot weather, the substance has made the balls sticky and caused surfaces to become tacky which has affected movement.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere, this really is too much.

Yeah, saw that earlier. Spraying the balls is ridiculous.

Adrian Mariappa was the Watford player who tested positive: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52744883
1342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: May 21, 2020, 09:06:46 AM
51 votes in the poll so far

43 vote for Fury
8 votes for Wilder

According to members here within the forum there is not much hope in Wilder winning the re-match.

Keep the votes coming in please  Grin

The fight has been postponed, so why is this thread still open?

Also, the poll is completely unnecessary, it's quite clear that Fury has won by an absolute landslide, more votes will achieve nothing.

I suggest locking this thread until the fight is rescheduled.

It's still going to happen though and it looks like it will be sometime this year: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-8341309/Tyson-Fury-Deontay-Wilder-trilogy-fight-happen-2020-Bob-Arum-reveals-plans-made.html

Someone would likely just open another thread about it anyway if this one was locked or talk about it in another boxing thread.

this one is still questionable yet its being said that PPV would cost $80? Waduhek.  Cool

The last fight was $80 so it'll either be the same price or more. If the fight goes ahead behind closed doors I'm sure they'll jack the price up to cover lost gate receipts. $80 is already a lot though. It shouldn't be more than $100. It was £24.95 in the UK.

It was Watford and Burnley who had players/staff that tested positive:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52726278

Thanks, I saw the news too. Since the resuming league plan is still undecided, perhaps more than 2 weeks from now, hope those who get infected will be recovered asap.

I'd be surprised if it got going within two weeks. The players will probably want at least two weeks to train, and then there's all the other things to organise by the PL, but hopefully they've already been working on that. We still don't know whether they're going to be playing in neutral grounds or not.

Well Hudson Odoi can’t be too concerned, he was arrested as police were called to his penthouse apartment at 4am this week. He was banging hookers & one of them called the police due to a disturbance.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/18/chelsea-callum-hudson-odoi-arrested-after-police-called-to-his-home-reports

Lol. What is it with players and banging hookers. There's probably hundreds of women who will bang them for free. I wonder if these PL players will get into trouble with either the law or their clubs since they should have been self-isolating. I'm not sure if hookers count as essential or front-line workers. No wonder a lot of players don't want to go back to training because they know what everybody's been getting up to.

Lots of teams have started training again now including Liverpool and Man U:
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11991390/liverpool-and-manchester-united-resume-group-training-for-premier-league-restart

PL carried out COVID-19 tests recently and there were 6 more cases founds from three clubs. There weren't any further specific details provided. (Source: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/19/premier-league-reveals-six-positive-coronavirus-tests-across-three-clubs)

By not revealing which clubs these players who test positive from, seems FA still trying hard to bring back the league. Though Bundesliga still restarting the league when there are 10 positive tests reported.

It was Watford and Burnley who had players/staff that tested positive:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52726278

Resuming individual trainings is good as a new normality for football clubs but to resume the league, clubs must have group trainings for tactics problems. I hope that Premier League will move to next step next one or 2 weeks, then the league will be able to resume for its rest matches in the first half of June.

The health protocol for group trainings and solutions for infected players or related clubs of infected players will be very important.

Generally, the another good news is daily death tolls in each European nations declined significantly, it is a good thing to think of for other social activities, reopen the economy and sport events.
There seems to be some surprising new news when the Premier League has just announced an individual training session, but at that session, all clubs conduct tests on each player and staff and in the end there are six new positive Covid-19 cases.

Of course, this is a new disaster for the English Premier League, plans to continue the League threatened to be postponed or even canceled, the article after a mass inspection of 748 people consisting of players and staff, there are six positive cases of Cov-19. it has also been confirmed by the Premier League.

reference: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11991043/coronavirus-premier-league-receives-six-positive-tests

Why would they postpone or cancel the league because of six positive tests? That's ridiculous. Six is a tiny number. Do you expect the entire league to be zero? They do the tests so they can isolate the players. As far as I'm aware they were all asymptomatic as well.

Watford and Burnley were the two teams with players/staff that tested positive:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52726278

This was after Troy Deeney stated he wouldn't be returning to training fearing for the safety of his family:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52721397

People are bound to test positive, but that's why they do the tests so they don't spread it so people testing positive is unlikely to halt things.

I agree with that, yes. 1% is really a low number, they will get tests regularly and it looks as safe as it can be at this time.
I'm not for any more delays, it was just a conclusion that could have been drawn from this particular article.

It is a good thing that the Bundesliga resumed without any issues during the weekend, that will potentially speed things up as well.

It could become an issue if more and more players refuse to play. A handful have already voiced their concerns.
1346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 19, 2020, 07:40:52 PM
While EPL clubs are allowed to return to training, Scottish Premiership ended season and announced Celtic as champions - they were ahead Rangers by 13 points.
BTW, is it there any news when they are planning to continue Championship season? I only remember reading that all leagues bellow League Two were cancelled without any promotion/relegation between divisions.
Oh, and if anyone wants to watch the Bundesliga games Skybet are live streaming them all. It's free to sign up. Can't say I'm that bothered about most games but I'll definitely be watching Dortmund Vs Bayern on the 26th.
I watched most of Bundesliga games during weekend and now I watch Werder - Bayer game and what I can say - watching football in empty stadiums gives weird feelings, but such football is better than nothing. But fact that we will see empty stadiums in most leagues at least until 2021 makes me sad...

Scottish League is small fry in numerous ways compared to the PL, but it's harsh that they relegated Hearts. They shouldn't be doing that unless they mathematically can't get out of the relegation zone. I'm sure they'll get that over-turned. They should do what the Belgium league did and just suspend relegation and play with the extra team next year.

And If the PL goes ahead then I'm sure the Championship will do as well. It's going to be very harsh if they void that league and deny Leeds the chance to finally get back into the PL after all those years.

It is possible we will have to wait a bit longer for the Premier league to return. 6 players/staff have tested positive for Covid-19.

No names/clubs were mentioned and these players (or staff personnel) will have to go to quarantine for 7 days.

They did 748 tests, so less than 1% tested positive.

Premier League clubs hope to give their players the go-ahead to return to training in small groups this week.

But there is a growing feeling the intended 12 June date for matches to start again will need to be pushed back.

A vote is due to take place on training and medical protocols when the 20 top-flight clubs hold their next meeting on Monday morning.

If passed, players would be able to train in groups of five from Tuesday.

That would be on condition that they observe social distancing rules and adhere to a series of strict criteria, which include getting changed at home and driving to training grounds on their own.

At least 14 of the 20 clubs must agree that safety protocols are sufficient for the plan to be approved.

It seems 14 of the 20 clubs is what's needed for a consensus. I'm sure they can get that. Seems a bit weird limiting training to groups of 5 if they're going to be playing full games.

Sooo with everyhing going on now and seeing how hard the restart is turning out to be, is it now more plausible that the EPL finishes as is, declare LFC the champions, relegate the bottom three?  What do you think?

I doubt it. They certainly won't relegate the bottom three. It just wouldn't be fair. If the PL is good to go then I'm sure the Championship will follow suit.

Oh, and if anyone wants to watch the Bundesliga games Skybet are live streaming them all. It's free to sign up. Can't say I'm that bothered about most games but I'll definitely be watching Dortmund Vs Bayern on the 26th.

*edit* here I grabbed a few screenshots *edit*

LOOK AT THE BOTTOM ONE. THEY STILL HAVE SOME CROWD THERE

Are you sure they're actual people? They might cardboard cut outs. A couple of teams have allowed the fans to purchase them for charity:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8315767/The-atmospheres-bit-flat-Cardboard-fans-stands-Borussia-Moenchengladbach-soccer-stadium.html

Looks a bit eerie but it's a nice idea. Though maybe some of the smaller leagues have lax rules about who can watch or get into the stadiums and they are actual spectators.
1349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 15, 2020, 03:52:08 PM
McGregor looks like he wants to fight both of them too, but if Khabib vs Gaethje does go ahead, which it likely will, I think he should go with the Masvidal fight as that's probably the next big thing unless he fights Tony, but Dana said he wants Tony to take some time off after his defeat.
Have you heard about the situation of Khabib's dad, he is in coma and if something bad happens then it will affect Khabib terribly considering how close they are and he is his primary coach and even Conor McGregor reached out which is respectable.

I heard he was ill as Dana mentioned it in the press conference but he didn't go into details.

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz would be great but to face Masvidal it will be a difficult fight for McGregor considering the size difference even though he fought down at 155 pounds.

Both fighters have fought in both divisions so I'm sure this match up could easily get done. I'd like to see it, but I don't think Connor would win.

I'm also glad to see Dana is still going ahead with Fight Island even though it seems fights in the US are going ahead fine now. That could be something special.
The reason for the fight island is to accommodate fighters from other countries as the government has no jurisdiction over it and that was the plan from the start as it was clear that the corona will be with us for a long time and Dana White wants to continue with the fight cards.

With restrictions likely being lifted soon it probably won't matter that much where it is. I'm sure Dana could get people flown into the US quite easily.

I think getting all teams on board won't happen, perhaps a consensus would do. I don't see a team winning a legal suit in this situation though, since it's clear that no team is in an obvious advantage over another, but maybe I'm just naive or not getting the bigger picture. I mean during polictal unrest we've had teams play their away games in the opponent's stadium but don't even get to play their home games in their own country, that's worth an argument for a clear disadvantage.

You'll never get every team to agree. Every club will want something based on what's best for them. I don't think it will stop clubs from suing if they feel like they've been hard done by or been given a disadvantage. Everything is fair if every club has to deal with the changes but that probably wont stop them from arguing that it was unfair to them as they might not have been relegated if the season continued as normal. Just watch what happens to the relegated teams. I'm sure they'll complain about something even if it's just about the lack of fans or that the gap in play was too long or they didn't get enough time to train before the league resumes.

Sooo with everyhing going on now and seeing how hard the restart is turning out to be, is it now more plausible that the EPL finishes as is, declare LFC the champions, relegate the bottom three?  What do you think?

I would love to see what every team would think (Including teams battling relegation) if they're faced with just two options 1. Finishing as it is with LFC as champions and bottom three relegated or 2. Complete all fixtures in a closed and neutral location.

I'm sure every team would want it to end now except maybe those in positions where if the league ends as is they will lose out, like relegated teams and teams who could grab the CL and EL places. It probably doesn't really matter to Liverpool whether they are crowned champions now or later as they practically have it in the bag as all they need is two wins I believe.
1351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 15, 2020, 12:08:09 PM
Aiming for. I'd be surprised if they get things going within a month. It doesn't seem plausible. There's just far too many complications and complaints from teams and if/when they announce how the games will precede then you'll get teams complaining about whatever they've proposed. Even if the matches go ahead in the correct stadiums I'm sure some teams will complain about lack of fans or some other bullshit excuses as to why they're losing.

I think the English FA just needs to look for the best possible way to get league resumed and the best locations for them to be played, And worry less about teams complaining, we've seen larger fractions of the teams complained about the Christmas to New Year crazy fixtures, nothing has changed about that either.

But they have to have all the teams on board for the restart or there could be lawsuits. It's a little different between Christmas fixtures and what we have now as it's not something they agreed to or what was in place at the start of the season. It's like changing the deal half way though. Teams are allowed to complain/protest about the compacted Christmas fixtures but if they agree to it before the season starts then there's nothing they can do. Moving the goalposts as they say is much different. If games get the go-ahead and the only difference is there's no fans and no other changes to the rules I don't think teams will have any legal right to complain, and if relegated teams do complain or try take legal action it will be very petty and shameful of them.

Love it, well done Mourinho. It's probably a bit of a shot at some of the lower table teams who are trying every trick in the book to not finish the season.

Nah, it's a shot at the crybaby primadonna players who've said they don't want to play during the crisis. Most of them seem to be bigger names. Some of the shitter teams are being difficult though:

Premier League captains accused of using their agenda in Project Restart meeting

Premier League managers and players are getting frustrated with certain clubs said to be using their agenda to halt progress in restart talks.

If it gets to a point where the majority of teams have agreed to proceed and certain clubs are holding back they should just give them the dates when to start and if they don't want to play then fuck em and they just lose points if they don't play the matches. I'm sure clubs would turn their attitudes then.

The Premier League has been told by the government it must show some matches on free-to-air TV and put more money into the Football League and grassroots game as a condition for restarting this season.

The demands were made by the culture secretary, Oliver Dowden, at a meeting on Thursday at which he gave the go-ahead for matches to resume provided it is safe to do so.
José Mourinho 'desperate' for Premier League to restart as soon as it is safe

“The government is opening the door for competitive football to return safely in June,” Dowden said. “This should include widening access for fans to view live coverage and ensure finances from the game’s resumption supports the wider football family.

I can't see the PL giving away the rights for the remaining games for free. If they want more money to be given to the lower leagues they should let them find a buyer and share some of the money, or even better let the PL stream them online and let fans pay for games individually or do a full Premier League pass for all the matches. If there's one thing that comes from this farce I hope it's a shake-up of how the PL games are shown in the UK. They're probably going to need to recoup money from somewhere as a lot of refunds are likely going to be given due to contracts not being kept.

It says in this article that they are aiming for a June 12th restart.

There has also been a meeting in which short-term contracts for players whose contracts expire on June 30th were discussed, they will be allowed but they have to be agreed by both sides - so the players need to accept them.
It might be tough for some clubs to force players to sign these extensions, they are out of contracts and it would be hard to blame them if they just say they will not play during the summer.
I thought it will be requested from the players but I guess it is not legally possible to do so.

Aiming for. I'd be surprised if they get things going within a month. It doesn't seem plausible. There's just far too many complications and complaints from teams and if/when they announce how the games will precede then you'll get teams complaining about whatever they've proposed. 1355  Other / Meta / Re: Referral Link In Post Is Allowed? on: May 15, 2020, 10:45:48 AM
Does anyone else have any information on this user please?
Hey guys, you all know me! I'm Joca97 and I am a tipster on this forum

He has considerable amount of post history so I dig on his history of created topics and I found that one. I think he's more likely an affiliate marketer, IMHO.

Referral links are officially against the rules , but in OFF TOPIC does it really matter ?
Off-topic still belongs in the forum so it still applies there, no exceptions, it's rules of the forum. If leave unattended they'll just exploit that board, best it should be still included on moderation.

It probably depends how you define affiliate marketer, but I've always just seen him as a gambler who is offering tips and trying to get a little extra coins to gamble with. I suppose using ref links can be quite lucrative but at the same time you usually only get peanuts but the more your post your links everywhere the more you'll collect and I guess that's why they're mostly seen as spam.

I've been having a doubt for a couple of months, and this thread looks like the place for it...

I know that referal links are not allowed; but are they allowed IF you are:

1)clearly stating that it is a referal link
2)providing the same link with referal link

Example....

I'm talking about a website I use and blablabla. When I finish the text wall; I provide the link this way:

Link to the site: bitcointalk.org
Referal link to the site: bitcointalk.org/ref/903175

If you want to help use the ref link, blablabla.

Providing the ref link, with a non ref link option is allowed? For my reading of the rules, I'd say no; but it looks like a different case than simply spamming the link and hiding it under links

Not really. Many people post them along with the regular link and they're still removed. It doesn't really matter whether they're hidden or out in the open as they're generally not allowed because they're just inherently seen as spam.

There is an organized concerted effort to discredit Wright because of the severe threat that BSV presents to the Bitcoin establishment.

That's the short version.

The short version is that most people can see he's a blatant fraud trying to hijack bitcoin for his own reasons.

Why do people normally claim to have achieved something they haven't? Fame, respect, money. In Craig's case it's clear he's trying to hijack bitcoin for his own financial gain, but I'm sure he wants the kudos as well. Craig Wright was a nobody before he muscled his way into the bitcoin, now he's trying to be a somebody and probably cash in on that along the way too. The Premier League is facing the possibility of having to delay its Project Restart after a pair of crucial meetings with players and managers provoked a series of robust exchanges and diverging views.

A planned resumption of play on 12 June is now looking less likely, and kick-off a week later is now a possibility after issues over protocols for a safe return to play and concerns over the need for more training came to the fore.

I'm really not optimistic about the league getting restarted. There just seems to be too many factors involved and whinging from players and teams about numerous things which you likely won't be able to make everyone happy. The only thing that might help is if the Bundelisga gets going without a hitch on Saturday.

hilarious, there are rumours that neutral grounds won’t be necessary as long as the clubs are willing to pay for the police presence at home games they may be permitted to do normal home & away.

I'm sure the lower-league teams will cry about having to fork out for that too. Fans would have to be pretty stupid to loiter around stadiums, especially if they've been told not to. Even more stupid if they actually try to get into grounds. Just watch the game at home.

I haven't watched last nights card yet but according to the post-match conference from Dana it's likely Khabib vs Gaethje in September and also the infrastructure on Fight Island will likely be completed within 3 weeks so he'll announce where that is then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEKQGUHDtOQ

McGregor looks like he wants to fight both of them too, but if Khabib vs Gaethje does go ahead, which it likely will, I think he should go with the Masvidal fight as that's probably the next big thing unless he fights Tony, but Dana said he wants Tony to take some time off after his defeat. I remember Conor saying he wanted to fight three times this year but we'll be lucky if we get one fight at this rate. Hopefully he'll be on the Fight Island card and then the winner of that could maybe fight the winner of Khabib vs Gaethje at the end of the year, maybe on the December New Year's Eve card. He needs to take something though as I doubt he's going to have a title shot without earning it.

I'm also glad to see Dana is still going ahead with Fight Island even though it seems fights in the US are going ahead fine now. That could be something special.

Players are to be told at a Premier League Project Restart briefing on Wednesday to turn their faces away after they have been tackled, according to reports.

Surely this isn't legit? If they seriously suggest things like this it's clear they shouldn't be playing games right now. I don't really think there should be any changes to the actual game. Neutral grounds and no crowds: fair enough, but suggesting people look away during tackles is ridiculous.

It seems there's going to be a big meeting today at 10AM between the PL, managers and medical staff. It will be interesting to see what comes out of that:

The Premier League will hold conference calls with club captains, managers and medical experts on Wednesday.

All 20 top-flight managers will attend the first-of-its kind meeting with Premier League officials to discuss the details of Project Restart.

I'm sure there'll still be the lower table teams complaining about neutral grounds.
