1381  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: May 27, 2014, 03:26:23 PM
Why do you sound surprised? Because someone is selling hardware at a fair value?
Or because shipment is within 24 hours?

Nope to both questions. I'm surprised they actually have coindesk miners for sale.
Where do they come from?
My most conservative bet is that asic-hardware ordered a bunch of desks, got them very late like everyone else, and are now selling them at a loss. Other theories aren't pleasing.
They are units bought by CryptX for their mining project (which is 100% publically owned and currently running at 1260TH).

They also got their units with significant delay, but are now giving you the chance to buy it at a fair price.

If you want a bitmine desk, just buy it from CryptX Smiley

Norway should also have very good colo prices, specifically per kW, as they also have abundant, cheap renewable energy.

Does anyone know of a colo provider there?

Has anyone in the US already received theirs?

Has anyone got a unit with sidehack? (Ideally an sp10)

The provided thread link really doesnīt tell me anything about his hosting solution.
1387  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: H/w Hosting Directory & Reputation on: May 27, 2014, 01:38:12 PM
Sry, obviously i meant per kW, it was me being all sleepy and not checking what i wrote.

They provide service to bitcoin miners at these rates, starting from only one unit.
It is an all-inclusive rate, so the size of your rig doesnīt matter. They will provide rackspace for it in their 15-20kW racks in Iceland.
As far as i know they also host units that are not rackmountable, but not sure.

Hosting is in a facilty built only for bitcoin miners, so they have some people there that know their way around miners.
If you want to switch pools you most likely need to shoot them an email and they will do it.

At the quoted rate, it comes down to ~160$ per sp10 and month (1,3kW at wall, fully overclocked), which is an okay price imo, especially as they know what they are doing and not some DC staff "what is a bitcoin miner"

Hosting with spondoolies in Israel is sadly only a short-term solution, as their power costs are high and cooling requirements makes a DC in the hot Israeli climate a real challange.
Also, Israelīs power supply is 60% coal and basically the rest natural gas, so around 740g COē per kwh which is not at all effective (98% fossil fuels)
Icelandīs electricity production is 100% renewable, so no harmful COē emissions.

With the sp30, there will be an option for 290$/month long-term hosting in WA, and maybe also in another location, which spondoolies has hinted.

I personally hope that spondoolies will also provide a long-term hosting offer for their "old" sp10 customers, as it shouldnīt be too big a difference wether you put 2 sp10s or one sp30 in the rack, but time will tell.
1388  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] FOR SALE: TERRAMINERS / DRAGONS / COINCRAFT DESKS on: May 27, 2014, 07:19:09 AM
These are units produced by bigger companies.
These companies provide support and update the firmware etc. setting them up is as easy as 1-2-3.

If you should run into problems simply look on the manufacturers website, or in the specified forum sections.

If you manage to plug power and network in, you will be able to use it.

Pricing is very competitive and hardware is in-hand, sold by a reputable company registered in the EU.
1389  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: H/w Hosting Directory & Reputation on: May 27, 2014, 05:30:39 AM
So no news? Collider?
I got my reply concerning cost from thor datacenter (90€ / kw including everything, starting from 1 unit)
and i donīt think they will provide anything cheaper, unless you own your hosting container and just need them to provide power, in which case my bet would be 5-6ct / kwh

I have not yet received a reply from datacell yet. Might contact them again.

Edit: fixed typo.
1390  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] FOR SALE: TERRAMINERS / DRAGONS / COINCRAFT DESKS on: May 27, 2014, 04:35:58 AM
It was used hardware, so the amount of provided support is limited.

However, everyone who bought a bitfury device directly from them had it hashing well within specs, or a replacement.

I am not saying that they do not work at all, I'm saying that cryptx no longer provides support for one of its products. And by no support I mean: "I do not even answer your email or set up a FAQ or something. Just die"

There is plenty of documentation available and a search of the forums or support thread would give you all the information you need.

Why do you need support for it, did you put it in a cupboard and only want to connect it now?

Anyway, as previously mentioned the available units are from big manufacturers so support will be provided by them, including firmware updates etc.

Can you see how your complaint is irrelevant for this thread?

I think the units are priced at a fair market value for in-hand hardware.
They also ship extremely fast after payment receipt, and everyone in the European market has the additional benefit of not having to bother with customs delays.

If you donīt trust the seller, get Escrow via OgNasty or another person.
Ebay selling fees of ~10% are just ridiculous.

I despise Ebay and Paypal.

Will Spoondoolies ever sell their power supplies by themselves? In case we want to get an extra/backup one? These aren't the kind you can easily grab at the store, that's why I'm asking.

Thanks.

You can get the "upgraded" 1250W version fairly cheap on ebay (used/refurbished).
New they are around 300-400$ so i donīt think you would just buy one to have it sitting around.

Take care though, there is a 5V and a 3.3V (support voltage for management board) version of it, and i donīt know which one it uses (i suggest 5V though).

Also, i donīt think your warranty will hold when you just switch the PSU without a reason.
Server grade PSUs have a lifetime of atleast 5 years, so i donīt think you will manage to get one broken within the lifespan of the sp10.

How do you know they arenīt using multipool?

Multipool isnīt this magic *200% increase of dividens machine, you know that, right?
1395  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] FOR SALE: TERRAMINERS / DRAGONS / COINCRAFT DESKS on: May 26, 2014, 07:48:18 AM
Cryptx, the owners of the webstore, are a company registered in Brussels, Belgium and have previously sold Bitfury hardware (Bitburner Fury).

And no longer provides support for it. Buyer Beware.
It was used hardware, so the amount of provided support is limited.

However, everyone who bought a bitfury device directly from them had it hashing well within specs, or a replacement.

These units are far easier to set up and software updates are provided by cointerra, bitmine respectively.

1397  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero Project - Third Party HF Mining Board on: May 26, 2014, 07:41:40 AM
I have 3 stable, 1 old AMC and 2 new ones.
CPU is at full load, but only clocked to the mild overclock (i think 600, no overvolting)
I havenīt got any original HF boards, but i thought firmware was similar?

You can clock your rPi to ~800 with a bit of overvolting, so it shouldnīt be a problem for 5.

Alternatively you could buy a bananaPi with around 4 times the cpu and 1 GB memory for 60$. OS should be compatible, havenīt tried though.

The R-pi is an ARM11 processor (armv6 arch.) and the banana-pi is an ARM cortex A8 processor (armv7a arch).
They are not code compatible.
You can run a linux image on the banana-pi especially created for it, then build cgminer or bfgminer for the arm7a which I have done for my pcDuinos.
However there is no version of Minepeon available that I am aware of, which is unfortunate as I like the web interface that comes with Minepeon. Saves time not having to always ssh into them.
Most of the websites claim the same raspbian works on both systems, however i havenīt tried it.

They also claim it is compatible to Raspberry Pi images.

where do you ship from what are payment options?
They ship from Belgium via FedEx International Priority.

Payment options are: Bitcoin via Bitpay aswell as SWIFT bank transfer (international banktransfer).

All units are in stock and typically sent within 24hours after receiving payment.

Cryptx, the owners of the webstore, are a company registered in Brussels, Belgium and have previously sold Bitfury hardware (Bitburner Fury).

Nice!   Cheesy Replacing 28nm hardware with more efficient, 55nm hardware  Wink
Well, bitfury magic XD

Spondoolies 40nm is also more power efficient than most 28nm chips, so same effect there.

It shows that process level is less important than good routing / smart chip design / (very) custom engines and good implementation.

55nm chips are also way cheaper than 28nm.

CryptX always acts in the best interest of all shareholders Smiley

Lets see the massive deployment tomorrow Smiley To the moon!  Grin

Sunday Surprise! Out with the old, in with the new...  Monday should be interesting.

"Dear Unit Holders,

We like to announce that we will start selling all the existing hardware of the PetaMine. The hardware will be replaced by ~20% more power efficient equipment. This means the power draw from the existing 500TH/s will go down by ~20%. The sold hardware will be immediately replaced by the new, more power efficient hardware.

This is another step in optimizing the revenue of the PetaMine project.

The equipment will be sold on the website www.asic-hardware.com.

Regards,
CryptX Team"

That is a good decision, it will allow us to extend the bitfury deal and get atleast the same hashpower, but more power efficient.
