141  Economy / Economics / Re: Barclays: ‘Facebook Coin’ to bring in $19 billion by 2021 on: March 15, 2019, 02:44:23 PM
Overhyped. Facebook doesn't need to use blockchain for this. They can simply make a centralized database for currency transactions on the platform. It ain't going to be a permissionless network and surely can't have the same properties like Bitcoin.

$19 billion, if that's really happening, then is just a waste of money.

It surely is and it won't ever be the same with Bitcoin at all considering Facebook has kept all the information and is selling it to advertisers for their own. And $19 billion is a big money, but it won't be that impossible since people are into hype and people will always come in with these kinds.
142  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: cabalism13's Activity Tips on Ranking (TAGALOG) on: March 15, 2019, 02:58:20 AM
I would also make this thread up on the list for the sake of my fellow countrymen who are lacking some knowledge on how to rank up and have a good activity across the forum.

Some people may just notice this but still don't apply it, the essence of this post won't be wasted for it will run as long as I am here for the sake of the incoming newbies.

I have just read this thread and I think its a good thing. Buti na lang din at di na ako masyadong nag ccomment sa mga SMT ngayon.

Mahirap din namang masabihang spammers ka dito. And yes I think its time to stop socmed bounties. Bukod sa ang liit ng makukuha mo sa dami ng kasali, e hindi na sya worth it.
143  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto as a payment method for goods: what to expect in 2019 on: March 13, 2019, 11:19:33 PM
Hi guys.
I'm wondering what's your opinion on the goods purchased in currencies other than euros or dollars, say crypto. I'm aware it's being used as a regular currency in various fields now. There are, for instance, lots of successfully run marketplaces based on crypto out there.
Over the past year, the market capitalization within crypto soared to the Moon.  Unfortunately, it's been a bear trend for a while now and no one can say for sure when it's gone. However, I am still thinking there's some light at the end of the tunnel - new market, pretty few competitors, great potential. So it's high time to become an active user.

So that begs the questions: Your thoughts on crypto as a payment method? Any progress achieved in the upcoming year?

-- pretty few competitors.

Oh no mate, that's where you are wrong. That will never happen again because people are usually coming in because projects lacks something that the other have. People are finding solutions for their dilemma.

I think its a great idea. Since people are already going cashless with these online payment methods such as WeChat Pay and the others, we will be seeing more I think.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So I told my banker about bitcoin on: March 13, 2019, 01:12:50 AM
Well, I understand your point of view but people are different. You should not impose your views and desires on everybody. There is nothing bad in the fact people do not want to use smart phones or anything. Of course, when their jobs or needs are related to these kinds of requirements it's necessary but anyway it's up to a person to decide if they want to be up-to-date or whichever.
Bitcoin want to replace the fiat, but the hindrance is just so obvious, and even some people believe it will remain to be niche to the very few tech savvy, what’s the point when it can’t replace fiat for the majority population.

Well in the first place, it wasn't meant to replace FIAT. Only some delusional people will think about that. Do you know why they say that kind of lines and phrases? To attract more people into using their project.

If you think about it, the prices of these cryptocurrencies are based on fiat. Its value in fiat is somehow greater to those who trade, and far more example of why it wouldn't replace fiat is because people do not intend to get scammed at all. Smiley They simply do not trust what people do in here even though people here don't do that much worse and we all know how fiat money works.

146  Economy / Economics / Re: BitGo Goldman Crypto Custody and Fidelity Launch on: March 10, 2019, 01:25:53 PM
Waiting for Goldman Sachs to bring the new hype and the fresh billions of dollars into the crypto industry is totally wrong.GS won't support any crypto project, unless it will benefit them by increasing their control over the crypto market and squeezing lots of money from the naive crypto noobs.

That's what clearly happened in 2017 and then some people really made some good money from it and then voila. Easy profit especially for the old ones and the new ones getting nothing but losses.

That's one good memory from that year really.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Helbiz - P2P Transportation Rentals on the Blockchain. Presale Live! on: March 09, 2019, 02:39:46 PM
Helbiz is one of my worst investments ever. Hope to return investment is negligible. Pleases only one thing, that the team has not disappeared with our money.
And what is most interesting in this story is that we could not find out the real reason for the strongest fall of the token at the very beginning of the trading history.
The only reason I know is they don't deliver on time or the expectation of the holders were not delivered.
At the beginning, this is one of the hype project as it raised a good amount with big goal but they did not fulfill it, now investors are just
holding their tokens as no chance to sell it at a good price and the liquidity is gone.
Unfortunately, I have to say that I'm still holding it, still hoping time will come I can benefit from my investment.
I was not talking about price reductions that happened all this time. I talked about a sharp damp immediately after going on exchanges.
I also remember this situation, when on the first exchanges 10 million tokens merged. Nobody really explained where they came from ...
In the version, that some early investor decided to sell at a price 10 times less, I do not believe

Yes, at the beginning of their listing nobody didn't answer to these question but where did that 10 million coins come from. Till i am holding my coins bought them at the time of the ICO but i lost a lot money because the value of the coin went very low which i didn't expect.

I think its one of their investors who willingly put a lot of money in their project and then when the market was down when the project's exchange listing was done, he panicked sell all of his coins. Or maybe it is another mindless person who would like to ruin other people's good project. I don't know what they get from it. It only resulted a big loss for everyone.
148  Economy / Economics / Re: DYOR before joining!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: March 09, 2019, 02:35:47 PM
Everyone says DYOR but lets be honest, most people will do better by listening to advice from others.  If you find someone knowledgeable and is actually successful in crypto your better off taking to heart what they say.  At this point it has kind of become a meme, everyone says DYOR just so they don't receive any blame if things happen to go south.

Some listening can be very bad. Why not do both? Ask from the experts in the field and it will do better than DYOR alone and hearing someone's advice. I have been always doing both since I can't afford to listen to some person saying this and that is dead but it was just lying in the end. We all need to know what is there to 'do your own research' and to listen.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Neglect Projects that Promise Eternity, Yet have Nothing to Good to Offer on: March 09, 2019, 01:35:19 AM
Most of them promise and fail. Therefore no product, no support.

Because when every promise is given, a sorry is next. So I agree with you that we should stop supporting this kind of projects.

Only believe in those who only have good intentions of doing great even after this market has gone wild. Smiley Stop joining their telegrams and other groups just for them to have an audience as well.

150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pension funds bringing money to Bitcoin. on: March 08, 2019, 10:30:03 AM
It is really interesting that at last some pension funds have wet their feet in cryptocurrency investing. Someone is going to be very happy or very pissed off in the future. What do you think of this? It is really a breakthrough for crypto as an investment?
Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-02-12/first-u-s-pension-funds-take-the-plunge-on-crypto-investing

Anyone can put their money in whatever place they want. They just need to do some research and for me, I don't consider this kind of surprising.

Even big companies are into blockchain nowadays.
151  Economy / Economics / Re: The mentality of an average wannabe investor on: March 07, 2019, 01:04:28 PM
The average investor is always on the loss, because he's always angry and negative.
When it's going up, he doesn't buy and says: why would I buy something that went up by 500% last month? It's clearly a bubble!
When it's going down, he also doesn't buy: why would I buy something that is worth 30% of what it was? It's clearly dying!

Unfortunately, most investors who purchased bitcoins are also the ones who impulsively bought them without doing market research and observation. They based their decision primarily on the mainstream media and on how most websites ruin the reputation of cryptocurrencies in general. For that reason, they are the ones who first complain whenever prices go down and spread rumours of it being a bubble!

Smart and determined investors will go the extra mile to study the market and do research in order to know the chain of current events and market trends to smartly speculate about its fluctuations on the price.

If people like Warren Buffet thinks bitcoins are not good investments, you can just imagine your average Joe. The irony is that while these people laugh at Bitcoin users when price are low, it's usually these people that feel left out during hikes.

As for sore losers, if they bought high without checking the record lows first and how long bear trends last, then it's their fault, don't blame Bitcoins.

Warren Buffet is used to the conventional methods of investing as he views cryptocurrencies as "an asset that creates nothing, rat poison, and a bubble." Ironically, Berkshire Hathaway invested into Fintech which totally invalidates his previous claims. Well one can speculate that maybe he is one of the whales that manipulates the price every now and then.

most investors who purchased bitcoins are also the ones who impulsively bought them without doing market research and observation.

Why this is probably true is because most people love easy money. Who would know when your 20$ will become 100$ or more.

Research is a no-no for those who only seek profit from easy money tactics. And they will always cry foul about if they lose their money in the process.

152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 07, 2019, 12:29:19 AM
Founders had announced that NEM team got only couple of months till all funds needed for operation and development of the project will be depleted. Has been there any positive news lately?

If this is true i am not surprised Smiley

why? do you think that they've managed not well their money?

by the way, i am surprised that that news doesn't bring fear and panic sell..

I voted against further funding but i was in minority.

Agree with your opinion for panic sell...

I am surprised that someone was expecting "panic sell". Why did you think so??

Many cryptos, including BTC, have dropped in a year 70 - 95 %.
Now is the buying time - but some instances may want to hide that, coz otherwise there would be panic buy.

I just done believe in sudden price rise anytime soon. And i would not be surprised if founders after spend this round of XEM would say well we try but it does not work. Have a nice day.Sorry. Goodbye.

It happened a lot of time in crypto world. Saw it many time. Am since 2009 in crypto. Traded with BTC when it was 0.5$. Dont trust any promises like we will develop this and that and price will be milions and milions.

Trust only yourself.

I guess well just have to wait a little bit for new developments but hopefully all the decisions made by the team and the community could lead to more growth and stability of the coin. Imho.

Well that's the thing everyone wants to wait for a bit of new developments right now. Thanks to BTC dropping real bad the past year some decisions are really meant to be made. Anyways people don't have to lose faith in NEM because it really is a great project considering some projects I know went on top of it Cheesy
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Screwed Up on: March 06, 2019, 11:48:20 PM
I was trying to transfer my Bitcoin and for some reason my Bitcoin was sent to the wrong address, I just started to use bitcoin recently and now i'm suck on how to get my money back. The transaction ID is (0d2ab7e318058c36f10ad06c26b79ebde8ea532551f78d9150759e591a3a674e) and it was sent to this address (bc1qy4jleyqse9jka39296vzn6ykx7hk3mh63zpwvl) which I did not create nor facilitate which confuses me the most. Please help me if possible thanks.
So you sent it on a wrong address? I think it will be not possible since any transactions you process on the blockchain is irreversible. But what you can do is know who the owner of the address is, which is a bad idea because owners are anonymous here thanks to those addresses. You might want to check what went wrong, probably something that messed your transactions on your pc/mobile
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i'm lost my bitcoins on: March 05, 2019, 11:59:25 PM
Once again a noob manages to unearth a site no one else has ever heard of and entrust them with a vast amount of money.

How do they manage to do this with such stunning consistency?

I don't think there's any help anyone can offer.

That's the thing. They invest their money in some shady site and they will ask for help if its all gone.

A friend will never direct your hard earned money in a shady site. This guy should learn how to read and write in the internet.

You could've used Binance, or any other big exchanges. Coinmarketcap.com lists those legit exchanges. Smiley

Do you guys have a discord group?

Can't find one.

It's on the first part of this thread. Just above and you can see it. Anyways here it is an invite link. Smiley

CATEX Discord Channel
A i understand you sharing up to 90% of profit among token holders. But are you sure than rest 10% will be enough for keep exchange working (salary for staff, taxes, rent offices, servers etc. and some profit for oners) ? And how this dividends will be paid to token holders? Weekly or montly or quarterly?
That all teams have thought ahead even though they only hold 10% of tokens, if for other payments they may already have a reserve fund.

But where they got this resere fund? As far as I understand they didn't have token sale and tokens just trading on their exchange but price is very low. So as I understand they launched exchange for their own money? How many total tokens here? And where I can see how many in circulating right now and how they will be issued?

767 million is the circulating supply accordingt to their pinned message on Telegram. Don't be upset. Price of tokens nowadays are low, that's nothing to worry about.

Total supply is at 2 billion. You might check their CATEX Telegram here if you are still having doubts.

156  Economy / Economics / Re: One small step for Bitcoin one giant leap for Crypto on: February 24, 2019, 09:16:08 PM
I think it hasn't reached the bottom. We're only seeing something that Bitcoin's flow is following. I think it is kind of precedented because of the latest news about ETF being approved or something.

We're waiting for a low end, not that bottom yet.

So you think that we're going to fall below 3k? Why would that happen? We've been in the longest bear market in history with 85% correction from the top. There's really nothing that would still be pushing the price down besides the fear that it might just go lower. There's no bad news, on the contrary, the lightning network is doing great and becoming available for the general public, while the fiat markets, especially in Venezuela are doing pretty bad. You may find a lower entry point but what are are the chances of that? More likely it's going to be a flash crash that most people will miss anyway.

Oh, we'll be seeing something lower than 3k. This bull traps are always setting everyone up since BTC went from 4k to 3k. Bull traps bull traps bull traps!

You'll always see them coming with these kind of people in the market! Just look at that quick dump of $200 USD. That's quite big for some 'correction' in days and some 'dump' in hours.

Is it just me, or do the daily Bitcoin chart from tradingview  now looks like Bitcoins have got a boot on, and is finally ready to start climbing up  after it have reach the bottom?

Money is flowing in. It looks like we've found the bottom. Is crypto winter over?

We haven't found the bottom yet good sir. And it's just another good thing.

The current rise in the market will suffer more. Just wait for some more downs. Wink

160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Samsung confirms the rumor! on: February 22, 2019, 12:43:49 AM
A lot of people are excited again to witness the new smartphone flagship of samsung. Few hours from now and they will reveal it.  Smiley

One of the best rumor is that, S10 Smartphone will be equip by a private cryptocurrency key storage, and it makes speculators think about that much.

https://www.coindesk.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-includes-private-crypto-key-storage - here’s some link to
More about this rumor.

I think its confirmed, and honestly it made me goosebump because it looks like most of the big companies are now  supporting cryptocurrency. This is the beginning, we will benefit a lot from this market.  Smiley

The question right now is how secure it will be. Hackers are getting into exchanges, what more into their phones? How long is the actual durability of that phone? Questions are always popping in because we all know how security is the number one priority in cryptocurrency.
