141  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 256 blocks solved! on: October 14, 2020, 01:18:33 PM
Crazy Mining is a rebranded Vnish, Cksolo pool works just fine with Vnish (Asic.to and AwoesomeMiner) so I would assume this would work as well, and might as well hit a block or two.  Tongue
Since when does CK support Vnish but not chipless and other smaller ones?

Hello everybody,
I plan to run some miners at Ckpool.

Are these settings that I made right?
Can I optimize other settings?
Is it better to use the original firmware?

greeting
Moeter.

144  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: T17/S17 malfunction: cases, solutions, remedies, RMA history on: October 11, 2020, 06:57:04 PM
Hello, I am sad to greet you into this great forum with bad news.

You have been more than unlucky and your only choice is now to RMA that unit again. If you wish, you can fight (discreetly and professionally) over emails with Bitmain to try to get refund for your miner or maybe to get a discount for newer S19/S19Pro.

Using custom firmware with underclock might help it read some hashboards but that is not a hard fix.

Your problem is 99% loose heatsinks.

They haven't said it specifically and I just assumed that based on their previous naming schemes. I have corrected my post.

What % cut do those forwarders take? And do you know of any reputable ones other than Aramex?

Antminers T19, S19 and S19 Pro seem to be "back in stock" as Bitmain is currently selling ONLY them as "FUTURES ORDERS" (̶w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶m̶e̶a̶n̶s ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶i̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶r̶i̶c̶e̶ ̶d̶r̶o̶p̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶f̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶s̶h̶i̶p̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶b̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶i̶f̶f̶e̶r̶e̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶B̶T̶C̶ ̶o̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶p̶o̶n̶s̶)̶.

Not sure when they came back in stock (but I would assume it is Friday night as I usually check Bitmain website every morning) or if you can order one (as Serbia is currently DELETED from supported list I cannot order).

I've written multiple tickets to bring back Serbia to supported list but nothing has changed since March and I never got an answer why they deleted it.
147  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: S17 / S17E / T17+ / T17 custom firmware - Free Download only 1% fee on: October 02, 2020, 08:21:18 AM
You can be right but it is not guaranteed. When you sd card flash with this firmware, your machine is unlocked. I tried flashing Vnish back and forth and it worked fine.

However, I am not sure if awesome miner unlocks your device. They might even unlock it just to flash their firmware and then lock it so you cannot flash any other firmware. Smart they are...
148  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s9 mining screen doesn't show anything on: September 29, 2020, 12:54:52 AM
S9 does not have speaker so it cannot "beep".
No one can help you unless you post Kernel Log and screenshots of Miner Configuration and System.

Use code function please for long lines like Kernel Log.
149  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S17 Pro Power_Lost on: September 27, 2020, 12:09:24 PM
I got another Question. Can hashboards get too cold ?  Its 12 c° / 54 F now in my area. The big fan blows air from the outside directly inside to the miner inlet fans. After I let one miner blow up the hot air in the one miner with the Issue, the chains came back.  Huh Huh

Well, it can, but 12C is nowhere near cold enough for it to make problems on good unit. I've had my machines run perfectly fine with inlet directly to miners of -5C.

HOWEVER, since your unit is already making problems. It could be possible that cold air can make it even more problematic.

What do Nvidia miners mine at this point? I guess ETH is not as profitable as others.

I am interested in mining with few 2080 S and I am not sure if I should just make it easy for me and go Nicehash or look the other way and go with (more profitable?) Gminer/T-rex for RVN?
151  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S17 Pro Power_Lost on: September 25, 2020, 01:35:52 AM
Let's say I believe him that he tested with new or already good (tested) PSU. Then it would practically be impossible to be anything else. Either control board or connecting cables. I doubt hashboards have control units that can directly talk to PSU - that is why there is control board in middle of them afaik.

But yeah, he should totally try different firmware.

Also, it would help a lot if he tells us how old the unit is, when did he buy it, how long it worked for him, in what conditions, at what hashrate and have previous owners ever had this problem before (if he is not the first owner).

Would be helpful if OP knew what triggered this event. Maybe it was blackout or power surge?
152  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S17 Pro Power_Lost on: September 24, 2020, 08:50:57 PM
I had a similar problem with my S17e. I figured I'd change PSU but problem persisted. Which concludes that it must be control board. If you have another, test with it. Otherwise keep power cycling it and it might work eventually.

Custom FW = Vnish = Fried chips. No thanks.

Vnish is not only custom firmware. Neither custom firmware nor Vnish's firmware indicate fried chips.

I am interested in machine if it is still up for sale. Also interested in knowing which firmware is it using.
That's interesting, because I repair Bitmain Chip boards. 98% of the "fried chips" I encounter ( and I encounter a LOT )are OC'd units and Vnish has 95% of the OC FW on the street these days. Lastly, almost ALL boards that run Vnish FW sustain excessive heat damage. " ALL ". But hey...What do I know. At least he will stand behind his product and warranty it.....oh wait....that's not true.

Having any custom firmware does not mean you have to OC the machine. Also, no one can give you warranty for overclocking, does any CPU manufacturer do that? NO. Does Bitmain? NO. How do you expect any FW maker do give you one?

OC-ing that hard to break your gear / fry chips is not problem of a FW maker, it's user stupidity and nothing more or less than that.

You cannot blame a car manufacturer if you hit a wall with your car on purpose, that is not how warranty or blame in that matter works. Actually, you can blame car manufacturer, but you'd just be plain stupid in eyes of many.
You are doing the same thing.

I will put an end to this conversation here. As any educated user who tried a lot of firmwares and knows what OC-ing (and UC/DC-ing) is and how it works, will know what I am talking about.
This thread is not a place for this anyway.
154  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP with 2 T17+ :( on: September 22, 2020, 03:41:19 PM
Hahah, I never said it is IDEAL standard, I just said it's default, and Thierry even said that he did not modify the original firmware that much. He literally just opened the options that were already there but Bitmain locked them a bit better than on S9 machines.

However, yes, I would like for Thierry to work a bit more on features on his firmware as his fees are really competitive and firmware works like a charm usually.

I will point him again to check this thread.

Also, yeah, we do think alike, tho I never put them under 100%. I'd rather let them use more W and possibly die on me but they cool better, than to have to deal with other problems.
155  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP with 2 T17+ :( on: September 22, 2020, 12:49:28 PM
True, but I think 80 C chip temp target is default set by Bitmain. Also, I never use chip temp target on my units. As you can see it's on manual 100% like on all my other units.

Yes, that feature where we can change temp target is nice to have, but I am not sure how much Thierry is up to adding features.

There is a lot of things he could add just looking at Vnish's firmware, and many more even.

Phil,

I picked up a 5600 (the deal you linked to on Newegg), to play with to see if I want to get more.

Did you update your BIOS or just run them like they came? (I didn't see where a BIOS was available for this particular SKU)

I tried it on HiveOS and it would only hash at 13MH @45W.  Kinda weird.  Threw it on a Win10 rig and got around 40MH.  Not sure about power usage since HWiNFO is reporting about 90W, but Awesome Miner (AM) is showing around 115W.  Not sure which is right...  This is using the settings you recommended.

Might try putting it on a SMOS rig next to see what I get.  I'm mostly running Ubuntu 20.04 on my rigs and controlling them from AM.  I purchased a 20 rig license back in 2017 before Patrick went monthly fee per rig like everyone else.

Almost scored a 3080 yesterday.  Had it in my cart at nvidia.com, but when I got my payment info entered and submitted, I got an error that my address could not be left blank.  (it was not blank)  I guess server issues.  Will keep F5'ing over the weekend and into early next week, and then turn my attention to the 3090 if I don't score by then.  lol

ps.  Still on the fence about selling my GTX 1000 GPUs.  Made almost $160 with them yesterday...

Here is a video about Rx 5600 XT from Bits be trippin', he gets to 43.3mh @ 85w without BIOS mod, he also posted a config for SMOS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MghxzsrDFJ4&t=213s

did I hear him right? 650w rig at 310MHs? take my money already!

Which is even better than E3 with 190MH/s at 700-800 W.  I didn't even know they were that good tbh. Might be worth going back to GPU mining after I left it in 2018.
157  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP with 2 T17+ :( on: September 20, 2020, 05:32:47 AM
Yeah, just ignore me for that part. I was talking totally about chip temps. PCB temps are more than fine and Thierry even has option in his firmware to stop mining if PCB is above 80C (picture below):

I actually think thierry should give us the same option as Vnish to change max chip temp by ourselves. I wouldn't like him changing it to be lower (nor higher for that matter) and not giving us an option.
158  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP with 2 T17+ :( on: September 19, 2020, 07:15:45 PM
I'd like to know about temp sensors too. As I've seen one of my chips reach 96 C while others were okay and neither hashboard nor whole ASIC stopped mining.

Where on default firmware, as soon as one chip reaches 90/91C, whole unit just stops mining instantly and hashrate of ASIC drops to 0.

Now, this has happened once or twice, other times when overheated, it went to 0 same as default firmware. Is this a bug or something else?
159  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Antminer S17 Pro / S17e / S17+ / Z11 / Z15 on: September 19, 2020, 01:38:42 AM
In addition to miners from subject/title, I am considering buying S19 / S19 Pro if the price is good.

Buying multiple units - amount depends on price.

I prefer machines that are in Europe.

ONLY DOING PURCHASE VIA ESCROW.
Prefer Phil if he accepts to escrow the deal.

Please send me offers via PMs.
