141  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: April 08, 2024, 02:04:40 PM
The following quote was written by someone who generally seems to be a good forum member, but who probably writes in the gambling section for posting requirements and has no idea what he is talking about.

If you calculate your mathematics very well then you can win the 2x in the BCH.Games. But mainly that should be permitted by the owners of the house and not the gambler. Yes you need to roll the required number t win the game. And if only you have the luck. Now they have you the percentage so it is for you now to roll in to the required %. And one thing you have to know that house edge game is purely mathematical. So you have to plan and calculate well before rolling.
Agbe has good history of shit posts and he was spot on many times. The community helped him to change but he did not change his writing after about one year.

To be honest, I don’t understand how he was accepted into the signature campaign (and even more so how he earned 1000 merit).  Shocked

Sorry Agbe, but what others have said here about you is spot-on.  Don't write crap like the above and expect it to fly under the radar.

It somewhat saddens me that accounts like yours will one day be Legendary.

I would suggest using a phone or system you don't usually use to browse the web to hold your coins or better still an Hardware wallet.
Recommend hardware wallet is good but a first part of your sentence is vague in meaning.

What did you imply with "I would suggest using a phone or system you don't usually use to browse the web to hold your coins"?

You can get dust attacks, address poisoning scam attacks with non custodial wallets like Electrum wallet too.

144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network: A failure? on: April 07, 2024, 02:07:58 AM
Compare the ICO/NFT BS with LN: LN is here to stay, the rest is a quick money maker until the guy who created it moves on to "the next big thing".
Bitcoin is here to stay and Lightning Network is probably here to stay too even it has less years of existence than Bitcoin.

Did we already have some projects that use their slogans like "Lightning Network killer?"

I did not know any project says it but "Bitcoin killer" is a lot but after a while some time, they are dead.

Quote
Another thing: many people still don't use Bitcoin for real payments, and many "Bitcoin users" only keep their funds on an exchange. As long as they don't use their own wallet, they won't use it for payments.
Many people just speculate and hope to get rich with Bitcoin, by storing and holding it on exchanges. Some people simply trade on exchanges and they only move their bitcoins when they want to cash out or even will not move bitcoin at all but will choose altcoins or stablecoins.

They must know the risk of bitcoin storage on centralized exchanges.

145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network: A failure? on: April 06, 2024, 04:25:51 AM
It's been years since the Lightning Network was launched, yet adoption has been quite slow.
Lightning Network started with very low adoption rate but it increased a lot since 2019 till 2022. Since early 2023, it started to fall dramatically and I remembered about a report on weakness and security hole in Lightning Network. Don't remember publishing time of that news but from the chart, it can be some time from July to September 2023.
https://txstats.com/d/000000012/lightning-network?orgId=1&from=now-7y&to=now

Quote
Most people are still transacting on-chain, despite the fact that sometimes network fees increase to undesirable levels due to the Ordinals hype. The L2 scaling solution promised to boost mainstream adoption for BTC with its ultra-low fees and blazing-fast speeds. It's still flawed, despite being established for a few years now.
Biggest challenge from Lightning Network for users is they have to spend on-chain fee to open a Lightning Network channel, before they can use LN off-chain.

Quote
What do you think? Is the LN a failure? If not, why?
I don't consider LN is a failure. It actually has good adoption and not only for Lightning Network but look back, news about LN in 2017, 2018 and after actually helped Bitcoin adoption too.

It is not perfect, not great success but not a failure for LN or for Bitcoin.
146  Other / Meta / Re: AI generated content by newbies on: April 04, 2024, 11:01:13 AM
Can we have a feature where the AI generated content automatically get flagged as AI generated content so the reputed members may not reply to that post/thread and just report it when they see that flag.
Forum admins will have to code and run their bot to scrap forum posts and use like APIs to connect AI-generated content detectors to check.

It is a complicated procedure and can bring some security issue for the forum so I guess admins will not do it.

There is report button and there are forum moderators to handle reports include AI-generated posts.

Manipulated media on X and their very complicated procedure to handle it. Users at the end can appeal too.
147  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoins held by the US government on: April 04, 2024, 10:51:11 AM
With bitcoin's (BTC) current price around the $65,000 level, that would be roughly $2 billion worth of the token.
If they dump all those bitcoins on the market, it will take some days for the market to absorb it. News about big on-chain Bitcoin movements can cause panic and fear because people are fearful of possible dump. However with daily trading volume of Bitcoin market, this can be absorbed good enough.

Last 24 hours, trading volume is $29B.

Should we call Bitcoin as a token?

It is a coin, Bitcoin, not a token like many altcoins.

149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman Fried (scam banker fraud) 25 years on: March 29, 2024, 02:34:42 AM
Does that mean those who lost a lot of money in the FTX Exchange will able to get their money back?
They will receive money but at rates of cryptocurrencies in a bear market, 2 years ago. That is painful loss for FTX and SBF victims.

Quote
I saw a lot of people complaining about 25 years sentenced, some said it's not enough for Sam Bankman, it should be a lifetime, well that's their opinion.
25 years sentence is too soft as months ago, speculation is about 100 years sentence for SBF. Will SBF receive reduction of his 25-years sentence after some years in jail?

If he gets reduced sentence and be free from jail after like 5 years, it's unfair for people lost money because of his scam.

Quote
Some still hoping they will get their money back.
People got forced liquidations lost their money forever.
People did not use leverages, did not touch Futures trading but were panic sold in a bear market and FTX fiasco, lost their capital forever.

I am surprised how the ruling was made so quickly. Judicial rulings take an average of 5 years.
Not surprised if this lenient sentence comes from lobbying efforts behind the scene by politicians.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 24 march 2024 : final verdict for SBF. Did you lose funds ? on: March 27, 2024, 02:07:59 PM
I was always confused by who was actually using FTX. By the time I had even heard of it, it was already supposedly like the second biggest exchange in the world.

You know, this is strange:  I don't watch TV and thus missed all of those advertisements for FTX, and for whatever reason I'd never even heard the name FTX until the scandal broke.  Talk about living under a rock, eh?
I did not notice that FTX ranked up to a second biggest exchange but I knew they did stupid policy on their exchange in like 2020 or 2021 when transaction fee on Ethereum blockchain was very high and even very expensive, FTX exchange did not charge their users any withdrawal fee on ETH blockchain. They waived withdrawal fee for users while no user asked their exchange to do that.

I did not know how SBF and SBF came to do that policy for many months as they actually had to pick ETH from their exchange treasury to cover transaction fee for their users.

That policy is only one of any stupid things did by SBF and FTX before their collapse.
151  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: March 27, 2024, 01:47:50 PM
That is the standard KYC terms, I believe 90% or even more casinos has the same terms related to KYC where the casinos reserve the right to ask KYC anytime.
I dont get why he can say that such term can be harmful for the reputation, if it is a harmful then most casino has already lost their reputation because most casinos has similar KYC terms.
As what I you said, players creating an account agreed with all the terms so it has nothing to do with reputation unless the casino make a sudden change in the terms to do something against the players.
Anyway, this KYC thing seems to be a never ending discussion as it is being discussed in so many threads LOL.
With a latest charge of DOJI on founders of Kucoin exchange, it's another victim of DOJI after Binance exchange.

They will not stop at Kucoin and I believe they will be able to find more victims from centralized exchanges. Before the charge against Binance and Changpeng Zao, many exchanges did not care too much about money laundering even they had that term in their ToS.

It's unclear that the time when Kucoin founders were accused with their failures to do AML on their exchange but Terms and Tools on Centralized exchanges only became more strictly and effectively to detect Money Laundering when laws became stricter.

If DOJI look too far to the past, many exchanges will receive more charges from DOJI, and surely not only CEX but casinos will be targets of DOJI too.
152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your next step if you experience a Great BEAR MARKET ? on: March 27, 2024, 01:35:07 PM
Initially you want to hold for a very long time but as a result of the bear market you loose your capital and half your investment yet the market is showing no sign for you to recover.
What's your next step as a first timer in Bitcoin /Altcoin trading?
There are two questions, one for Bitcoin and another one for Altcoin.

Your question is confusing too, trading and investing (holding) are different. If you are a trader, you must know you are not planning to hold and you must be disciplined to exit the market.

Holding is for investing, not for trading.

Bitcoin is a strongest cryptocurrency so after a bear market, it won't die and it will be a first cryptocurrency to recover from a market bottom.

Altcoins are not as strong as Bitcoin and they can die in a bear market. Even Bitcoin triggers a bull market, many altcoins can not recover to their past all time highs.

Risk with trading and investing in altcoins are bigger with trading and investing in Bitcoin.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin use case on: March 26, 2024, 09:47:16 AM
Is anyone know where I can find some litteratures about the use case of Bitcoin Timestamp ?
https://learnmeabitcoin.com/technical/block/time/
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Block_timestamp

A block timestamp is valid with some conditions as you can read in two documents. It will possibly be valid after an hour or two if you don't look into details.

Don't feel surprised if you see inaccuracy of timestamp of a new found block and some previous blocks.

Quote
The timestamp has to be within a certain range for it to be valid:

It must be greater than the median time of the last 11 blocks (i.e. the time in the block 6 blocks below).
It must be less than the network adjusted time +2 hours.
So there is some flexibility in what the timestamp can be. For any newly-mined block, the time field could be anywhere between -1 to +2 hours (roughly) from the actual current time, and it would still be valid.

155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (IMO) they are not worth the same... on: March 26, 2024, 09:21:45 AM
However, I commend you all to take some time and watch how this man made a physical bitcoin with gold and it looks exactly like Bitcoin. Question is will the physical bitcoin worth the same rate like the online Bitcoin? or another design?
With Bitcoin, what do you need to control your bitcoin and actually own it?

Private key or another form of it mnemonic seed of your wallet.

Bitcoin is a digital asset so if anyone, any company that produces what can be called as Physical bitcoin, you see high risk here.

They can print a poster, mint a physical item, and attach Bitcoin private key to that item, then sell it to buyers as Physical Bitcoin Collectibles. But they are the entities that get Private Keys at beginning.

You must trust that person, that company that they don't redeem your bitcoins later with private key they have.

156  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When is the best time to trade a Bitcoin on: March 24, 2024, 10:35:35 AM
Of course it is good to do bitcoin trading if from the downtrend you see that it will have a reversal which is a good right time to buy at the break out then just hold because it is still an uptrend.
Trading when the market falls down, has corrections is both advantageous and disadvantageous. If it is in a bull market generally it is very good, we call it as "Buying dips" and price will make higher highs because of an on going bull market.

If, oppositely, it is a bear market, it is disadvantageous if after buying, you don't close your positions and stick with your plan. The bear market will force price to fall down more, deeper and you will get profit.

It can still hep you to gain profit if you hold but here we are discussing about trading, so buying a falling knife in a bear market, is risky.
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Questions about pruned nodes. on: March 24, 2024, 08:38:48 AM
Prune 550 simply means you are going to be downloading but storing 550mb worth of block chain data. And by default it means you will be  syncing the whole blockchain but retaining the most recent block chain data of 550mb size
Running a Bitcoin node, either Full node or Prune node, you will have to do IBD (Initial Blockchain Download) and this step takes most of your time.

With Full node, you will store the whole blockchain after IBD and top it up with new blocks' data.

With Prune node, you will store latest blocks' data till your prune node size, that is set up by yourself.

158  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does number of traders affect volatility? on: March 24, 2024, 08:31:33 AM
Traders are increasing day by day and people are in search of some good income strategies. Trading has become more popular in the previous couple of years. It surely will affect the volatility of the crypto market as more investors the different will be the interest of investing and the more volatile a project will become..
You talked about it inaccurately.

With bigger trading volume, volatility will become smaller. You can see Bitcoin ROIs with different past three cycles and see how its ROIs changed from very high to lower and lower cycle by cycle.

Marketcap and trading volume are two biggest factors that affect on price volatility.

159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New EU AML ban bitcoin anonymous payment on: March 24, 2024, 07:06:10 AM
Government just want control when there paper fiat is anonymous. But this is rubbish because some people will still use noncustodial wallet for transactions.
There are more documents to read about this problem in future, not now. If nothing changes, this will come into force after 3 years, in 2027.

We are fine just now but I believe there will be many things to be changed and this legislation is very hard to execute practically. It's impossible to control cryptocurrency flow if people use non custodial wallet.

Can governments and their agencies, ban all websites to accept Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies from non custodial wallets, no KYC?
I doubt they will be able to do this. Citizens will stand up and fight back.

Does Bitcoin have the potential to impact climate change?
Any activity, industry that consume energy, exhaust gas emission includes green house gases, can contribute to global warming and climate change.

Briefly, Bitcoin mining industry is one of factors that contribute to global warming and climate change.

More details, if anyone attacks this industry and says it is like a most polluted contributor on global warming and climate change, it's lie and untrue.

You can debunk such lies by.
Debunk Bitcoin Energy fud "Bitcoin wastes energy".
Reports from Bitcoin Mining Council. Their abstract has basic information but you can have more details by watching their video on Youtube for each report.

Some attackers changed their mind like Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock.
World Economic Forum (WEF) Describing The Positive Impact Of Bitcoin
Quote
WEF in 2017:

“Bitcoin mining is dirty, wasteful & on track to consume all of the worlds energy by 2020. We must stop it.”

WEF in 2024:

“Bitcoin mining is clean, creates jobs, and is powering chocolate factories in the African rainforest.”🌍
So don't believe in their words, there is no absolute enemies, there is only absolute benefit.
