Please be careful buying anything in resin. I bought some butterfly in 24k gold from someone and when I got it analyzed, there were zero Gold under

the resin. They know you have to break the resin to get it tested and people will not do that, because it will destroy it's re-sell value. In my case

the necklace broke, so I could send it for testing. This is a very old trick used to fool tourists visiting foreign countries and also people buying things

online.  Roll Eyes

Example : https://exportcity.trustpass.alibaba.com/product/109094522-230781803/Real_Butterfly_Jewelry_TRIM_plated_24K_gold.html

The ad says its gilded/gold plated, not made of gold. Gold plate isn't typically worth anything for gold value anyway, its purely ornamental and worth what you think its worth for appearance.
142  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling New Lenovo Legion Y740 17 inch Gaming Laptop NVidia 2080 on: November 18, 2019, 10:29:00 PM
It did not arrive today, tomorrow I suppose. Anyway, same deal, assuming I get it tomorrow, I'll confirm the details, see if anyone wants it and if not after a day or two I'll take it out of the box and use it myself. Its the laptop I was after, just with more graphics card than I need. If you play games and care about frame rates, max settings and such, this one may be for you.
143  Other / Meta / Re: No message received for removal of a thread created in Ivory Tower! on: November 17, 2019, 06:16:35 PM
Threads don't get deleted, they get moved to a special staff viewable only trash section. So when your thread gets deleted, its the same as if they were moving it from say Goods to Digital goods which you aren't notified about. When you move a thread, theres an option to leave behind a, this thread was moved to this new board message, but that isn't typically used when moving things to the trash.

If you are wondering why that is, I assume at least partly so a moderators can look at your past posting behavior. When staff members read through someone's post history, they can see posts that are currently in the trash section. I'm not sure if this is still a concern, but back in the day, deleting accounts and threads and such was undesirable from a forum software point of view. I don't remember exactly what it did, but it was more efficient to isolate and hide threads rather than trying to remove them from the forum.

Ahoy guys, first off I don't have it in hand yet, but I'm expecting to have it on Monday and will take pics then if anyone is interested. I purchased it a few days ago thinking that it'd be convenient for rendering work I do, before kind of realizing that I'd probably be better off with a more modest laptop and spending the extra cash to upgrade my desktop.

Anyway, buyers remorse, but I got a pretty good deal on it because the guy selling it didn't realize it was a higher end model as opposed to one with cheaper GPU, so I figure I could see if anyone here is interested. As I said, when I have it in hand I'll confirm everything that I'm listing here before selling it to anyone, but here are the Lenovo listed specs.

https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/Lenovo%20Laptops/Lenovo_Legion_Y74017ICHg?M=81HH0004US

Here it is on Newegg at a lower clockspeed for $2320 https://www.newegg.com/p/1TS-000E-0E682?Description=Lenovo%20Legion%2081HH0004US&cm_re=Lenovo_Legion_81HH0004US-_-9SIAHRCAG04401-_-Product

TigerDirect for $2549 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6651475&CatId=4935

On Amazon (with a slightly bigger SSD) for $2300 https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Display-i7-8750H-Processor-81HH0037US/dp/B07QKGDF7Q

and its reviewed pretty well, with the main complaint that the battery life is sort of short, though thats kind of to be expected given that the hardware its got.

https://www.cnet.com/reviews/lenovo-legion-y740-17-inch-review/

Anyway! Assuming it arrives on Monday and I'm confident it is new and what I am listing it to be, I'd be interested in selling it for $2100 in BTC if anyone is interested. If not, I suppose I'll use it.

Shipping would be from the US, and at asking price I'd cover the shipping cost within the US. If you are outside of the US, we can work out the shipping cost, but I also ask that you be aware of any import duties that may be added as I cant be held responsible for any issues with shipping or taxes once the laptop is completely out of my control. I'm perfectly happy to use escrow with a mutually agreed upon escrow agent, though I ask that you pay any fee associated. If you have any questions please feel free to ask or to shoot me a PM.
145  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB [Closed] Moai Phenom Resin 3D Printer on: November 13, 2019, 09:11:49 PM
I'm still looking for a Moai Phenom, but I did get ahold of a form 2 which should work for now. I'm closing the thread, but will reopen it when I'm ready to actively search for a Phenom again. If you've got one for sale, feel free to shoot me a PM.
146  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1 ounce PAMP stamped 999.9 Gold bar brand new sealed in mint condition. on: November 12, 2019, 06:30:19 PM
I'd buy it, but based on your currency denomination I'm assuming you are in Europe? I'm in the US and don't really like ordering metals from out of the country, too many issues can come out of international shipping accountability wise.
147  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB FormLabs Form 3 or Moai Phenom Resin 3D printer on: November 12, 2019, 01:51:10 PM

I've used one of the those before and they have surprisingly good print resolution, but its a bit lacking when it comes to convenience features and real sharp precision. I think I can definitively narrow it down to one of these two models now.
148  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB 3D Resin Printer on: November 11, 2019, 09:41:46 PM
I don't think you'll be able to find any good resin printers on Newegg. Most of the e-commerce sites that are not focused on 3D Printers usually sell very low volume and/or cheap, starter printers. For example the highest volume I could find was this model on the whole site.

If you are willing to spend 4000+ USD (which is equivalent to 0.5 BTC anyway) I'd suggest just ordering a Form 3 directly. Though it's on backorder. It's expensive, it wastes quite a bit resin but... you'll get the best quality in almost all of your prints.

Yeah, I didn't find anything interesting there, but it was a good suggestion. I've got a little bit of time to figure it out while I wait for the backorders to clear out for the Moai Phenom or Form 3, but I'm thinking I'll give the Phenom a shot. The Form 3 is the standard in ease of use, but all of the expensive upkeep and proprietary features are a turn off. Print speed is also a consideration there, so I think giving the Phenom a shot is worth the risk.

That said! If someone has a Phenom or Form 3 (or other similar model) for sale for BTC let me know, availability very well could be my deciding factor, as none of the stores that sell them accept BTC directly.
149  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB 3D Resin Printer on: November 11, 2019, 01:33:49 PM
Are you looking for something like this? https://www.newegg.com/p/288-001F-00077

Almost! The print volume is too small, but now I'm checking what newegg carries for resin printers, thanks  Smiley
150  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB 3D Resin Printer on: November 11, 2019, 03:59:37 AM
Is there any specific reason why you are preferring SLA over FDM? If it is just about print volume, I'd suggest you to take a look at Creality. Although they are hailing from 3D Printer heaven of China, they do have a solid reputation and I believe there are several FDM printers they have has a considerable print volume. Definitely take a look at them if you are a beginner on 3D Printing.

When it comes to SLA Form 3 is undoubtedly the champ. However, the price is a bit above "prosumer" standards from my perspective.

My question stands, what are you planning to use the printer for?

Dental/Jewelry and very small parts and treats. FDM doesn't get nearly the print resolution I need, and I've had OK results burning PLA out of molds, but I'm after better than OK. I'm on the fence regarding the Form 3. The print quality and ease of use is a bonus, but man is the castable resin expensive. If someone has one for sale that'd probably make my decision for me, but I'm looking for the best printer I can get under the 0.5 BTC mark.
151  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB 3D Resin Printer on: November 10, 2019, 09:47:39 PM

The Prusa SL1 is one that I had somewhat considered, but the small print volume is kind of a deal breaker for me. I appreciate the sources you provided, but I didn't find any of the higher end printers I was looking for. Thanks though.
152  Economy / Goods / WTB [Closed] Moai Phenom Resin 3D Printer on: November 10, 2019, 06:34:03 PM
Hey guys, this is probably a long shot but why not ask. I'm looking to buy a Formlabs Form 2 or 3, Moai Phenom, or similar "prosumer" resin printer. I've got an eye on a few other models as well, so if you have another comparable printer for sale, feel free to shoot me a pm or ask if I'd be interested. If you've used these printers and just feel like chatting about their performance or your experience with them, feel free as well since I'm sort of undecided and would appreciate input from those that've used them.

Shipping would be to the US, I imagine international shipping would be prohibitively expensive, but if not I've got no issue with international trades.
153  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Where greed comes from? on: October 27, 2019, 03:10:23 AM
-snip-

Historical "evidence" will only suggest early human lived in harmony cuz they realized that it was their best option and had a common goal of just filling their "Tummy" so to speak. It was around 10,000 years ago when we had this radical shift and the idea of "having more" came into place.

-snip-

Early humans didn't live in harmony. From burials that have been found and dated to the time, its concluded that the era was the most violent in human history. We didn't have weapons to do the job effectively, but the proportion of skeletal remains found with horrific damage show that it wasn't a good time to be alive if you wanted to avoid being bashed in the head with something.
Heres one source: https://www.livescience.com/27055-neolithic-skulls-show-violence.html
I'd argue that the only reason there were no neolithic "billionaires" is because there weren't permanent settlements to accumulate wealth.

I don't really like the characterization of greed outside of the whacky cartoon villain portrayal. We don't call honey bees greedy for storing more honey than they need for winter, nor predator that kill more frequently when there is abundance of prey. I feel like the source of human "greed" is a natural instinct to accumulate a safety net of resources so that you can survive. One major difference between us and lions however is the concept of history and progenital nature. Every species wants to pass on their genes and insure their children survive. Humans are unique in that we also want to make sure our assets are transferred along as well. We don't just consider our own safety nets, we consider that any excess that we can accumulate outside of that safety net in an ideal world would improve the lives and opportunities of our children/grandchildren.
154  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Honey Caramels ** Bitcoin Black Friday 2018** 20% off!! on: October 19, 2019, 01:07:30 PM
If I don't hit Black Friday, Ill make sure I buy more caramels for Christmas. I've been buying Bees Bros honey caramels as gifts and for myself for a long time now, and can highly recommend them to anyone who either A) likes honey caramels or B) Is looking for a special gift. They are reasonably priced, and are a very premium candy that is different from what you can find anywhere else.

I even got my own bees this year! If all goes well through the winter, I may attempt to counterfei.... pay homage to bees bros by trying to recreate their recipes (for myself not for sale)
155  Other / Meta / Re: Banning Franky1 by mods is lame. on: October 17, 2019, 01:24:35 AM
I like Franky1 personally but can't speak to their posts so I have no input on the validity of the ban, but I think its pretty nice to be given the consideration of a single subforum ban rather than forcing a forum ban. It'd be easy to apply a regular ban, it takes effort to enforce a non software supported "hey we don't want you posting here anymore for the reason given, but we don't hate you enough to go the easy route and just hit the ban button"

Freedom of speech is such an overused and misguided term. Its about being free to speak your mind until you impose on others. That doesn't mean having unpopular opinions, but if you disrupt other people's "free speech" yours gets limited. Check out the handful of P2P forums that have popped up and failed amidst the viagra spam and bots.

have two 1oz is mint 2100 in btc

If its something with any sort of collectors value we'll need more details, I'm assuming they are 1901 Gauden Double Eagles? Are they graded? Pictures would be great as well.
157  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Thinking of posting some old gold coins for BTC on: October 12, 2019, 07:05:17 PM
What type of old gold coins? Like common date late 1800s+ US/European gold coins, or the older stuff?

...
My car has a tank that takes more than 20 gallons of gas and due to traffic I only get about 17 mpg.
...

I believe that electric cars will be outselling gasoline-powered cars within 10 years. Electric cars are much more efficient than gasoline-powered cars, and as more electricity is generated by non-fossil fuel technologies, I think that fossil fuel usage could drop by 50%.

Unless you live in a few select countries (Canada/Brazil/Norway/France etc, you can assume your power is coming primarily from coal burning plants.

The highest efficiency coal plants are in the mid 30 to 40ish % efficient. Modern gasoline engines in cars are about 30% efficient with older models being lower, and some newer models being in the upper 30% range, with diesel vehicles being more efficient than gasoline. The world needs to change its power supply (not to solar...) before electric cars are any better for the environment than gasoline or diesel burning cars.

Anything climate related is such a weird topic now because its been politicized. Imagine sitting around a holiday table with family and discussing astronomy or gravity and having it as a politically polarizing topic.

@Pmalek

They aren't projectile tasers with hook. They are contact tasers with two nodes on them. Hand to hand defense weapon. There are regular old rectangular taser boxes and a few others. One looks like an iphone, another a stick of lipstick. Most of what I have are actual working flashlights that just so happen to be able to stun the hell out of someone at the same time.

Also, not that it matters.

https://www.amazon.com/Taser-22029-TASER-Professional-Series/dp/B01EXMKDIO/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=taser&qid=1569783143&sr=8-9

https://www.amazon.com/VIPERTEK-VTS-979-Billion-Rechargeable-Flashlight/dp/B01FH2Q8QK/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=taser&qid=1569783235&sr=8-8

Both the projectile and stun gun style tasers are available on Amazon. I think I can probably make the statement that nothing that is sold on Amazon would be banned from sale here. Their standards are much more strict because they are more accountable for what people sell on their platform.
160  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: The dimensions of SpaceX’s Starship 1 and 2 and Mars colonization on: September 29, 2019, 01:13:12 AM
Lets not forget that you get a single trip through the Van Allen Radiation belt when leaving the earth, and it pretty much guarantees that you will have cancer at some point.

Its really the low tech problems that are the long term problems. Even if we figure out some ultra energy and cost efficient way to shuttle people, you still have to deal with the space debris impacts on the planet. We on earth don't have many craters, take a look at mars. Magnetic fields and friction from the atmosphere are the reason why the earth has palm sized meteors land that tourists can search around for instead of more frequent dinosaur extinction causing high impact masses. Setting up little camps with artificial gravity, extreme air conditioning systems, grow lights, etc would not change the fact that we'd need to change the center of the planet to avoid immediate threats.

Finally, lets not forget the little green men that'd take offense to our colonization. Assuming we are technologically able to win the fight, we'd need to ethically decide whether we should.
