601  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is a quality post like this ?? on: March 31, 2018, 01:37:05 PM
Quality posts are needed to get the merit used to raise the level of our account. But for people who are new it may be very difficult to make quality posts that cause difficulty raising the grade of our account.

Is the quality post like this?
1. Create a post that can be useful for other bitcoiner
For example: step and may be a tutorial for problem solving
2. Create a post to help fellow bitcoiner for the future better
3. A reliable idea for problem solving

please correct if I wrong

Those are all good criteria to keep in mind. When I think of a constructive post, an additional few criteria are, that it must add to the conversation in some way, and contain information or points that allow others to respond to you.

For example, the spammers in the alt coin section that say, "Interesting project!" or "I'm watching this project". Sure you just made a blank statement that probably doesn't even apply, however that doesn't further the conversation in any way, and there is no way that someone can reply to your posts and further any ideas. Now if you say,

"I think this is an interesting project, the hashing algorithm allows those like me who don't have a 1 Megawatt mining farm a chance to contribute to the mining network. In addition, the development team's easy mining software serves as a good intro to those new to mining, so rather than trying to explain to people how running your computer earns you money in vague examples, I can point to this coin as an example of how cryptocurrencies work."

That as a post is a segway into further conversation about mining, the development team, and educational value of the topic. All points that could further the conversation.

How about a graded 2017 Titan Silver Tenth in a straight up trade?

If we are talking trades here, I'd trade you a 100 oz spikey blob of silver.Very sharp, and the perfect way to stack silver and deter theft, guaranteed to make you bleed if you touch it. I've got a couple laying around that I call "hedgehogs" that I pull out for show and tell when I have people I don't like very much over.  Grin

it would look something like this
603  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Can i create wallet? on: March 31, 2018, 01:21:05 AM
I don't have one. Can you teach me how?

Assuming you mean a Bitcoin wallet, you have a couple of options. You can download a full node wallet like the Bitcoin Core wallet found here: https://bitcoin.org/en/download
this will require you download the full blockchain which is over 150GB if I'm not mistaken. You can prune that, but for the sake of not getting too technical, I'll just leave it at that.

Then there are light wallets that don't require you download the blockchain, such as Electrum which can be found here: https://electrum.org

Wallet clients stored locally on your computer are more secure than web wallets but there are also some pretty well known ones like a blockchain.info wallet that can be secured reasonably well. I've never really used mobiles wallets so I can't speak to those that well. The one thing that no one has mentioned yet that I'll mention is do not leave your money on exchanges. Using an exchange as a wallet is the best way to lose your money.

If you are looking for an alt coin wallet, your best bet would be to check the alt currency section.

Going to add this here for anyone who judges it to be conclusive of something. I don't like negging people personally because I feel it gives a far stronger impression that I'd typically like it to be, unless its actually someone who is attempting to scam money.

It seems like the garlic craze is laying down a bit, maybe its the amount of difficulty in buying Garlic in the first place  Cry

I'm going to call it an end to the production of garlic loaves, and call it a set of 21 total produced. I'll be focusing on my next production now, stay tuned!

in this Forum many peoples doing fraud scam ... i know there are too many scammers doing scam eat peoples money stolen money from here
and when i just post that i want to sell my account the forum admin or moderator will flag on my account very funny idiots admin of this forum and after flag they doing abusing see link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3209931.msg33479220#msg33479220

Selling Account isn't allowed in this forum, I think you should accept it because you break the rules, but I also see many people selling account here but no further handling.
This is the example : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3097999.0

He not just selling account, but he also sell positive trust which indirectly bring the name of DT members, I think that very bad post. That can make members thinking if DT members playing behind the forum.
I hope the punishment at this forum is not sharp to down which only punish weak members here. because we need justice.

Selling accounts is "allowed" here by the forum rules. Bitcointalk staff will not ban you for buying or selling accounts. The trust system and its feedback are completely independent from forum staff. It was decided by the majority of the community that account buying/selling is untrustworthy behavior, and for that reason, its not uncommon to receive negative feedback if you are caught doing it. Selling positive trust isn't against forum rules either, but its the same deal as before, people find it to be an untrustworthy behavior, so you will get negative feedback for doing it.

People seem to be under the impression that Default Trust (DT) is this uniform system that follows very strict rules and behaves much like the moderation staff here, but for trade related things. For the most part, its just each person's personal preferences as to whether they decide to give out negative feedback or not. There are some mutual similarities between people across the board, like account selling and trust trading, however there is no rule saying that a person on DT has to follow any specific guidelines, short of not doing something that gets them kicked off for being harmful.
608  Other / Meta / Re: why this froum admin or moderator are blind on: March 30, 2018, 03:10:24 AM
I don't understand, you are reporting yourself? Scams aren't moderated here, everyone needs to use their own best judgement. If moderators got involved in potential scam cases, there would be a lot of grounds for undue censorship, not to mention that its pretty hard to find one universal definition of "scam". If you are talking about the negative trust you received, thats because people typically don't like account sales. Its not a rule here, but its a community common sense thing.

Damn, what you have SS making ChiBitcity?  That looks cool!

Ah, its just a chain I was playing around with. I traded a garlic loaf to ChiBit's for a silver bar, so I melted it, alloyed it, made an ingot, milled it into wire, and then wound and cut the wire into loops. Now its a chain/bracelet. Not really my forte, but I figured since I have a rolling mill, I might as well give it a shot.

Its ~97% silver, 1.5% Germanium, and 1.5% Copper, a custom uncommon silver alloy. I haven't polished it yet, but its way whiter than white gold, and has a nice deep platinum luster. In addition, it should be ~7-10x more tarnish resistant than sterling silver. Its classified as Argentium silver I'd guess, but thats typically 93.5% silver ~1% germanium, and 6.5% copper. When exposed to air, germanium oxides form on the surface creating a tarnish resistant layer, similar to how aluminum oxidizes.

Here are a few pictures as the wire got made:

https://i.imgur.com/pUTeAw6.png

And a ring I threw together, again I didn't have the right tools so its no where near done right. It hasn't been polished, filed, or formed properly, so its pretty ugly, but. The one in the middle is the silver, the one above it is platinum, and the diamond ring below it is white gold. I did order the right tools (I think) so we'll see if I can't make something pretty in the future.

Not sure how I'm going to load it, but look forward to doing so!

I'm glad it arrived! I was just thinking that it'd be difficult to return your silver bar if there were complications with the postal service. (picture of part of your bar below)

613  Economy / Goods / Re: Buying Scrap Jewelry and Rare metals (Gold/Platinum/Paladium/Iridium) on: March 26, 2018, 02:26:28 PM
Sorry, I had forgot that I started this topic, so I wasn't checking it. I've found that starting with bullion grade fine metals and then alloying from there is far easier than starting from scrap, refining, and then alloying. There are some trace contaminants that can make the metal near unworkable, and at this point in time, its more cost effective for me to not have to troubleshoot mystery alloys.
614  Economy / Goods / Re: [wts] a mystery box full of metal scraps on: March 23, 2018, 10:49:29 PM
What computer components is the metal from? I'd assume copper/aluminum? And mostly in wire or what form? I can re-purpose all non ferrous metals, its just a question of whether its worth doing so.
615  Other / Meta / Re: End of newbie restrictions; ban changes on: March 22, 2018, 08:00:10 PM
How to know were you proxybanned or any other kind banned? And how to find any bill for the fee to pay to come back on the forum fulfill?
That is something new and I am impatient to see how it works.  Roll Eyes

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your question, but are you asking about Units of Evil? The thing that requires you pay a fee when registering a new account on an IP that has previously been banned?
616  Other / Meta / Re: Anatomy of an BitcoinTalk.org account purchase SCAM. on: March 22, 2018, 03:59:38 AM

All excellent advice, thanks for taking the time to provide it.

Here is the Global MOD signature auction I was talking about:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3020552.0

Again, seems like maybe a grey area like the account trading, but who am I to judge?  I'm just a Newbie for now.

Though, I have contributed pretty heavily to other knowledge spaces like Quora.  I hope I can be as accretive here.

That is just renting out space in their signature space. People put an advertisement or something in their personal signature space, so the ad shows up under each of their posts. Some accounts have a few thousand posts, so thats a few thousand places where the ad can be seen. It could potentially be seen as an issue if the person advertising was to try to scam people with the advertisement, but a bit of due diligence on the owner's part can negate that risk.

Making consecutive posts like you did here :

Hm.  Seems like if you do this to every Newbie that makes an honest mistake, you'll play a never ending game of whack-a-mole while singularly discouraging further commentary.

I'd rather you didn't, but considering you're a big kid on this playground... I guess you can do what you want.

Well, considering I have literally ZERO intention of monetizing my presence here on BitcoinTalk.org via this or any other account, I didn't really think of the cost parameters.  The seller set a price and I agreed to it; and frankly, I thought $1,600 was fairly precious for an account I was going to use for educational & social purposes.

How does a chip mixer make money?

Thank you qwk & owlcatz!!!   Smiley

is against the rules for future reference. If you make a post and later decide you wanted to say something else, use the edit button on the post to change it.
617  Other / Meta / Re: Anatomy of an BitcoinTalk.org account purchase SCAM. on: March 22, 2018, 03:21:27 AM
Okay, my experience and this write up are part of paying my dues and perhaps it will win my little newbie account some MERIT.

Here are a few things to think about before attempting to buy a BitcoinTalk.org account:

1.  MODS, understand that the restrictions placed on NEWBIE accounts is overly severe.  Some of us are legitimate business people and hobbyists that want to LEARN more about the technology.  Newbie's accounts are restricted from posting as well as restricted from sending PMs to (most) anybody.

2.  This causes a bit of frustration on behalf of the Newbie.

3.  The newbie sees a great number of offers that do not seem legitimate such as Bitcointalk.org moderators leasing signature space on Legendary accounts for stuff that clearly seems "grey."

4.  Newbie reasons, if this behavior is okay from a Legendary Mod, maybe it's fine to buy an account... after all, my intentions are pure.  I'm not going to scam anyone...

5.  Newbie browses Bitcointalk.org looking for accounts that are for sale.  They all seem to be for sale by other newbies and jr. members, reason being that it's "frowned upon" to sell accounts, so the sellers don't want to use their REAL account for fear of getting hit with "negative trust."

6.  Seems reasonable to Newbie.  So Newbie inquires regarding an account.

7.  Seller responds that the account detail must stay hidden until after half of the payment has been made or the account could be "comprimised or locked."

8.  Newbie feels uneasy, but sends half of the payment (.075 BTC) to receive login detail to verify the account.

9.  Seller confirms receipt of the first funding tranche and shows seller multiple legendary accounts (yassin54, Scott J, Limx Dev) and says "pick one"

10.  Newbie sees that yassin54 is a little spammy, and since Newbie has no desire to run ads, he doesn't select that account.  Limx Dev has a post history in German, and since Newbie is NOT German and/or cannot speak the language to verify that post history is not spammy, he settles on Scott J's account.

11. Seller demands the other half of the payment, an additional .075 BTC prior to giving the login information, stating that he's "been scammed before when a spammer tried to make off with the account before paying the other half."

12. Newbie pushes back, stating that the terms of the deal should not be altered halfway through the deal.  Logins were promised after the first tranche of funding, not after both tranches.

13. Seller persists, stating something to the effect of: "That's fine, the price was too cheap anyway... I'll just refund the transaction."

14. Newbie smells a scam and says "Okay, thanks.  Please refund the first .075 BTC I sent you."

15. Seller never responds, or refunds the first .075 BTC, and uses the BTC to purchase a donkey for his family to eat.

---

SO!  What did we learn?

A.  If the English is broken, and the account is new... it's probably just some poor bastard trying to scam you to buy donkey meat for his family way far away in the People's Republic of Bumblefuck or whatever.  Probably not a first world country.

B.  Just because MODS act sketchy, doesn't mean that Newbies can.  They can see the admin panel and tell where users IPs are from and safely avoid scammers from third world countries that use clamshell phones for Internet access.  Countries like the People's Republic of Bumblefuck.

C.  Buy a Copper Membership to decrease the amount of time between quality posts that you make.  The more quality posts, the faster you can earn merit and better ranked accounts.  Reputation clearly cannot be bought on BitcoinTalk.org any more than it can in real life.

---

Lastly, a quick thank you to the scammers at BitcoinTalkAccounts.com and John Lock <buyzify@gmail.com> for providing this valuable lesson for a mere $800, which is what I would spend on a nice Sunday dinner at my favorite sushi restaurant in Malibu with a few close friends.

Please remember 3rd world scammers (looking at you BitcoinTalkAccounts & buyzify@gmail.com) to eat your Donkey back to front, starting at the anus.  Ask your wife to show you how.

#1) Great! Welcome! The problem isn't you, its the spam bots and account farmers. Put up with it for a little bit, and it'll get easier.

#3) What are you talking about? Signature advertisements?

#4) No... I don't think any moderator would buy an account. It is OK based on the rules, but people will probably think its untrustworthy behavior and give you negative feedback for doing so.

The Rest) Use escrow to avoid scams, and walk away from any deal that seems too good to be true, or requires you to do anything you don't feel is right or safe. There is no reason to trust someone with your money, especially when you are using a semi anonymous non reversible currency.

As for point B

Quote
B.  Just because MODS act sketchy, doesn't mean that Newbies can.  They can see the admin panel and tell where users IPs are from and safely avoid scammers from third world countries that use clamshell phones for Internet access.  Countries like the People's Republic of Bumblefuck.

What mods are acting sketchy? Also, no we can't see any IPs, and even if we could the scammers in third world countries you are talking about are probably using Tor or VPNs, so it wouldn't help regardless. Just don't trust anyone sketchy to begin with, and you are all set.
618  Other / Meta / Re: OG nasty and his trust abuse on: March 21, 2018, 05:16:47 PM
We have a nice thread going here that is getting results, ideas are being exchanged, and people aren't fighting with each other. Would it be possible to prevent the fighting before it begins? You guys have your own threads going.

*edit*

The issue of retaliatory feedback could also be addressed by having a comment section where a person could respond to their own feedback.
Allowing retaliatory feedback in any way results in those in the DT network can engage in shady behavior and scam for amounts less than the value of the value of the person they are trading with’s reputation as upon the receipt of a scam report the person reporting will expect a negative rating themselves. This is especially true considering that many disputes are not black and white.

Allowing retaliatory feedback or not, what I mean is that I've often seen people who receive feedback, mainly neutral or negative, respond to that feedback on the other person's trust page. Having a place to respond to it on your own profile, so you can dispute the claim, maybe leave a reference link with your side of the story, without having to post it on the other person's profile would be beneficial.
619  Other / Meta / Re: DT1 users abusing their power to increase their own trust on: March 21, 2018, 04:51:30 PM
But people do put a lot of weight on it. Feedback = trustability to a lot of people (though it obviously shouldn't). I've seen people offering their services here and calling themselves a 'trusted user' just because they did a few deals with the right people. It's like a badge of honour to a lot of people and I suppose it gives them the edge over someone who has zero feedback so that's why it's worth something. Some campaigns have even started offering higher payments if you've got it which is ludicrous and just encourages more abuse.

I feel that is their problem more than anyone else's. Feedback should be taken exactly for what it is, not some algorithm created green numbers. If someone has 100 positive feedback for 0.001 BTC trades, that wouldn't mean I'd trust them with 1 BTC even if their score is higher than someone I would trust with 1 BTC. If someone does a trade, I believe they deserve accurate feedback for it. I really don't like the green/red numbers. They are a cop out for people who don't feel they need to read a person's feedback and judge its validity for themselves. I've added a few people to my trust list in the past that asked me to remove them because they didn't want to have to change any of their feedback habits because of cases like this, and I really think its a shame. I added them specifically for their feedback habits, and those are exactly the type of people that I think needed to be on DT.

You can leave them neutral. An ebay-like system is far from perfect as well and wouldn't really work on here for numerous reasons.

Neutral kind of has its own connotation to it. Of course I read someone's neutral trust before I judge what it means, but that split second before I start reading and I see that font, I think that its someone on DT that wanted to give a negative for something, but because of their position decided against it. I find its more useful for comments about a person, their behavior, or just general notes that you think someone should see before they trade with that person. It doesn't feel right to give someone a neutral when you've done a successful trade with them.

As far as the Ebay like feedback system is concerned, I meant in format, not with the backing of a paid central company monitoring it. You leave someone feedback, and its saved on a page that can be brought up and filtered if someone would like to search through it, and a field where the person can respond on their own profile to claims against them.
620  Other / Meta / Re: DT1 users abusing their power to increase their own trust on: March 21, 2018, 04:07:03 PM
This is somewhat related, but I personally feel that Feedback should be given without any second thought to the potential green numbers for any trade, as long as long as its accurate. If someone wanted to do a 0.001 BTC trade with me, where the funds are escrowed, I wouldn't hesitate to leave them accurate feedback saying they did the trade with me, I risked 0 BTC because the funds were escrowed, and how the deal went. The whole concept of farming feedback seems flawed to me, because green numbers shouldn't mean anything by themselves. Its the quality and contents of the feedback itself.

Because this is an issue in the first place, I'd love to see an option to leave people feedback without it being included in feedback score calculation. I'd far prefer an Ebay type feedback system, where before you buy something from someone, you quickly check their negatives to see if they ship things that "don't arrive", or arrive broken, etc. The issue of retaliatory feedback could also be addressed by having a comment section where a person could respond to their own feedback.
