Yep... and UASF, and... years waiting for a single moment like that. (I hope everything will go smooth though).

I am kind of questioning whether we are going to be able to identify any particular moment with any kind of preciseness...

for example, a moment in which we are assured that segwit is locked in because there are likely going to be some insiders who know way ahead of time about the inevitability of the dynamics to cause the price to move upwardly long before the mere mortals come to the realization that it REALLY IS LOCKED in....

Maybe I am being too pessimistic? or buying too much into the disparity of information conspiracies?

I was closely following the Litecoin segwit signaling and activation process. Yes, there is a moment in which it will be clear that even if all of them stop signaling there are already enough signaled blocks to lock it at the end of the period. Of course, you can assume way sooner that locking won't be stopped with a 95-95% chance of being right.

I do expect that miners play a little with their hashrate/signaling as they did with Litecoin though. And as they are actually doing right now with Bitcoin (see coindance).

It will be a very fun and interesting process to watch (and trade) in real time.... and talk about it in our reopened WO Smiley

P.S.: Hopefully with an owner/moderator that allows references to altcoins for comparison (such as Litecoin in this specific case).

Of course it's relevant.  Mention of alts never really needed policing, the thread members tend to flame it in any case.

The WO always veered off-topic, it was part of its appeal.  But the crowd all piled in to check which way the wind was blowing when there was action.  It was always a great barometer of sentiment, if not THE barometer of sentiment in crypto.

Such was (and hopefully will continue to be) its value.

Agreed

that's twice now that @empowering has come late to a thread promising laughs and activities

while his manifesto is now the most comprehensive, can he deliver it in real time?

can anyone else be bothered to expand theirs beyond a scattered line or two?

might mass changes of vote at this late stage stand Lauda a chance, which is something ~77% do not want?

I  admit I threw my hat in late, and I have had a busy few days.. but I DO have the time and the will - and I actually would like to do it... if that makes any difference.

I really enjoyed this thread over the years,  lets hope it remains a fun place to hang out, chew the cud, catch up on newses and check the forecasts of doooooooooooooooooom!

If so then it is all good.

I spend most of my time eyeballing charts..... I do still have a picture of Monkey on the wall.

Also see my signature.

Hi guys..

If I end up with this thread I would

Set up polls at least once a week..

Set up polls on what to do with the thread

Encourage a chartbuddy replacement/reincarnation

Encourage Technical analysis and views

Post some newses

Post the occasional stupid ass meme

Will not be too heavy handed especially when there is quiet times...

Will be less tolerant of spammy/troll overdosing

It would be cool to set up some sort of beer escrow tip type thang

But also just have a laugh tbh -

Not really down for the racist shit either

Anyway- this place is going to go nuts over the next month or so regardless Wink

I probably have the necessary erratic mental health condition , prone to erratic outbursts and have a proclivity for alcohol,  an obsession with BTC , and a completely bonkers life, I gots me a sense of humour- so I wouldn't be too heavy handed -  I don't give too much of a fuck - I can dedicate the time to it- as I am pretty immersed in Cryptocurrency already but also I don't care as long as its not he whose name we dare not mention "La......."

So I guess I will throw my hat in - happy to do it, not fussed either though.

Depends on if you want someone cranky or not tbh.

Boom. Done. There's my vote.

Edit: Please strike my name from the list. There are enough solid candidates now. Lightfoot and Yefi and Empowering are all excellent choices IMHO.

I am touched BlindMayorBitcorn.... as usual you are a gentleman and a scholar !

thanks

Lets get this wall observer back on the road !

Don't kill the thread.... it is way too much fun the way it is- and besides there is the whole rest of the forum for everything else... this is an old timers thread - and its got history man!

Everyone knows what they are getting with this thread - and if they don't then they soon do.

Where is Adam anyways?

Adam went full big blocks and bounced to that other forum.

As an aside, I suggest we give moderation authority to your monkey.

Monkey is AWOL

hmmmmm  something off about EOS - it sounds like a Canon camera for a starters.

Going to just watch for a while methinks- the valuation out of the gate is a bit nerve racking.

Whats with this tactic of just throwing new coins with zero traction onto Bitfinex and them just hitting a "price" and staying there...

Where are the traders taking a giant shit on it?

Weird.

Oh well- Ants Wink

Can anyone tell me how to transfer some ans to mew? I'd usually install a wallet but there is none for Linux.

You can download a client for windows or Mac  or grab use web wallet on the antshares client page (and you can use long pass phrases to secure account) or you could use an Android wallet.

1415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: AntShares/NEO vs Stratis on: June 30, 2017, 01:27:04 PM
Antshares.

Technology (Quantum resistant, Scaling solution-Sharding) Huge community potential, interesting partners, upcoming NEST - also the little added bonus - it is actually working and actually ready now.

Also it is Chinese.... did anyone mention that? Wink

Undervalued.

Antshares.

Once bitcoin drops below $2,000 again, it probably won't ever get back up above it ever again.

Noted for prosperity

Hold or sell now? Was holding for 5 years but I feel weŽll go down and wonŽt see 2k for a long time? Just a feeling... I had it in my balls when the price was 2,9K I was so pumped to sell. I knew it will drop... Damn always the same mistake...

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Good one

Explain?

I see people pay out and weŽll see 1.5k I guess... and then weŽll hover there for a year...

After 8 weeks straight up , in a near parabolic move, of course you knew it would drop- nothing goes up in a straight line - pullbacks, consolidation, corrections, profit taking,  returns to the 61.8 fib line --- are all to be expected.... after 5 years you know this right?

What do you suppose your investment will look like in March 2018?

There is a lot of money that is going to be looking for a home in Cryptocurrency - that money cannot enter the market all at once without pushing the price up - the money entering the markets will come in ebbs and flows with profits being taken and then further pumps.

Sure sell now- if you want to do something with the money or if you feel BTC is ded.... otherwise in my humble opinion you risk ending up selling now and buying back in at $3000 in a month’s time or 6 months time.

First they hunt the shorts, then the longs, then they will pump it up to the next level - thereby cutting many players out of the market forever, the ratchet like movements as you may have noticed are rapid and violent when they occur in either direction ... I predict that they will become increasingly more so as more money enters the system during this stage of Cryptocurrencys growth..

Within 1-2 years the market in my opinion will be worth 1 trillion (x 10 what it is today)  BTC will get a lion’s share , within 1 - 2 years I see BTC having a market cap of around 200 billion

All that money entering these thin markets is going to cause a lot of chop - and they are still thin markets in the grand scheme of things...  look what a few tens of billions has done to the marketcaps in the past few months...

Dont get me wrong, I can see $1500 - even $1300 , even $980  any lower than that and they really will cause panic.

But also kinda looks like any other day in Cryptoland in the past 5 years... this pullback is no more surprising than the rapid climb to $3000 (seems like a good place for a breather)

If you want to spend some money then sell bro.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/instant-bank-payments-will-end-bitcoin-binge-german-central-bank-chief/

^^ My fave story of the past 24 hours.

Made me smile.

(The guy is deluded if he thinks instant payments is all that is driving this market - sure its a factor - but personally I can make instant and free payments already (since 2010)  both within the UK as can most of Europe (non international) and then there is SEPA)

(Maybe the gentleman would care to remind us how many Euros are being created each and every month at the present moment by the ECB - and then tell us about risks and abuse to the system - €60,000,000,000 each month down from €80 billion - thats $67 billion dollars every month= so basically creating way over the Bitcoin market cap each and every month and thats just one CB- and all the while the economic irresponsibility continues - but sure thang Jens- its all about instant payments which we have already had across most of Europe for over half a decade.. ok then)
