I think China are definitely lying about their death numbers, they’re just trying to make it look more realistic which it doesn’t. How could they possibly have so few deaths, it’s ridiculous.

Any way, to get back on topic it’s good that the PL clubs & officials agreed the season will still be finished.

This is one of those things where you'll likely never get the truth. China is very secretive and the US will like to shift blame and dish out propaganda to make them look bad. With China being China it's easy to do and very hard for them to prove otherwise because nobody really trusts them and they tend to try silence anyone who speaks out which is always becomes another tool in the West's arsenal to cast doubt on them. Personally I don't trust either side.

I think China are definitely lying about their death numbers, they’re just trying to make it look more realistic which it doesn’t. How could they possibly have so few deaths, it’s ridiculous.
It's hard to get the news out from China and why would they give wrong information? It seems they got things in control.

Well that's probably what they want you to believe.

Well I moved to Poker lately 😜
Let's hope football comes back. We can not wait to get the season title. It's just getting longer and longer.

Did they actually agree that though? I'm sure most want the season to be completed but there's so many factors involved. The PL will push for it to be finished asap but there's firstly safety and then the contractual obligations. If the season isn't finished with a certain time frame they're potentially going to have to refund over a billion in TV rights. Looks like they're confident they'll be able to work something out though:

Quote
The Premier League are also confident that they can come to an agreement with domestic rights holders Sky Sports and BT Sport that will avoid them demanding rebates on the £414m of matches that are still due to be screened this season.

Both broadcasters have much to lose if the Premier League suffers long-term financial problems, whilst they are also conscious that aggressively demanding refunds could drive clubs towards streaming giants Netflix and Amazon, who are both benefitting from the shutdown and preparing to launch bids for the next TV rights package from 2022 to 2025.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8208385/Skys-owners-stand-Premier-League-boost-414m-TV-rebate-boost.html

Which isn't surprising seeing as how Sky Sports would likely be ruined without the PL rights. It would make things interesting though if Sky did fall out with the PL or lost the rights. Personally I'd like to see football go the digital/streaming route sooner rather than later.

So it's been a little over a month since the football stopped. Anyone feel like it's much more than that? The post below doesn't seem like two months ago but has anyone else been watching a lot of films/reading a lot of books the past month? I haven't made a single bet since it stopped either. Kinda miss the weekends.

I need a better hobby when my team isn't playing. Scenes of RH and CA chatting together makes me feel old.

Watch a film or read a book. I don't bother watching games I'm not interested in or have a bet on or something. There's just too many games and you can spend the entire weekend just hazily watching matches back to back as there's always going to be something on. I always loved this Mitchell and Webb sketch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MusyO7J2inM

Oh, and if you watched or watch the Mitchell and Webb sketch above the football finally did end  Cheesy.... Cry

Latest news on the PL

Finishing the season in a 40-day window was one of the scenarios discussed at a Premier League meeting on Friday.

Top-flight clubs remain committed to playing all 92 remaining fixtures this season but did not discuss a deadline by which action must resume.

Clubs were expected to debate a 30 June deadline to end the season but instead discussed "possible scheduling models".

The Premier League said it "remains our objective" to complete matches but currently "all dates are tentative".

Apparently teams are suggesting pumping in fake crowd noise if the games go on behind closed doors:

Quote
Premier League clubs could use fake crowd noise if they play behind closed doors after the coronavirus suspension is lifted.

Brighton are one of several teams to have discussed playing artificial sound to help generate an atmosphere.

The Times claims top-flight sides are exploring ways to “minimise the loss of home advantage” if matches are to go ahead without any spectators at their own grounds, rather than neutral venues, which is also a possibility.

Today’s report also states clubs are looking into covering the huge amount of empty seats that would be visible to viewers.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/11389447/coronavirus-sport-live-premier-league-norman-hunter-dead-efl/

Not sure how I feel about that. Maybe they should add a laugh track instead  Cheesy.
1423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 17, 2020, 01:20:11 PM
Well they can play them for this round. Both legs really don't need to be played after that, especially if they're on neutral grounds.

I'm not saying it's needed, I'm saying that there will be the same disputes with television companies that paid for more broadcasts as the ones you're having now. It will come down to logic that it's the easiest option for all to play these games too, and we're talking about just 6 of them.
I'm just trying to guess how they will approach it, without offering personal opinions.

Well there's lots of factors involved and things to consider but would TV companies prefer no games or a few less? One party is probably going to have to compromise on something at some point. If the games are behind closed doors they might not like that either. They always seem a little less exciting when that happens, but also at the same time maybe many more people would tune in given the circumstances. I think the most sensible thing is to just play the games as normal when safe to do so, but that is probably going to breach the TV contracts and they might come for their money if the games aren't played within a certain time. I'm not sure if it would be wise for companies like Sky to fall out with the PL over this though as the PL could easily burn them by taking the rights elsewhere.

These aren't Sunday league pitches they're playing on. If they can play on a handful of grounds for tournaments I'm sure they can make it work for this. Maybe it would be a squeeze on one or two and they could probably get more done if they have a handful and play them like they would in the EUROs or whatever.

Sure they are not, but neither is Wimbledon and look at the pitch on day 1 and on day 7 of the tournament. Maybe it is doable, I do not know, it just seems less risky to play it on 4-5 pitches instead of 2. It seems that Bundesliga is the closest to returning to normal, so if I had to bet on it, I'd say it will be played somewhere in Germany.

Tennis pitches are completely different to football pitches though. They're on much more delicate turf, are much smaller and have a more intense amount of play on the same parts of the pitch over and over. I'm sure the powers that be know roughly how many games can be played on a pitch before the turf gets fucked up so whether it's two pitches or ten I'm sure they'll be able to figure it out.
1424  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Should I donate the Known Alts Donation funds to Bruno's plea? on: April 17, 2020, 01:05:42 PM
I do not think there is a possibility to be 100% sure that all funds from the donation will finish in the right place. Bruno did not leave here such a possibility, considering that he was prepared for this outcome. He was an experienced person and I personally believe he provided a way for someone from his family to have access to these funds. Likewise with his Bitcointalk accounts.
one of the best scam buster, would not leave it unsafe where they need to write a few words on paper.

Unfortunately, we can't change anything here, we can no longer help him if it was once possible, I'd rather divert money to save someone's life. I saw a few charity initiatives here.
Whatever. OP, I believe in your best intentions but I think this must be your decision or wait for some time, maybe we will hear something from Bruno's account successor.

Bruno's accounts have already been in the possession of at least two other parties so we can't really say how safe they are. If it's not 100% certain that the money will get to where it should then it's silly potentially throwing it away and I would agree with you that it would be better helping out someone's life who is in need of it. As for what Bruno did in preparation all we can do is speculate.

We also don't know for certain if that was him making the posts. The images he posted are from December last year. Multiple people have had access to that account over the years and someone could have easily made that post with or without his consent or involvement.

This is certainly a possibility, but the odds of some one else timing this so closely with his death seem pretty slim. Con artists also have some very distinct tells as well when they are running a con, and I didn't see any serious red flags in any of his postings. I do agree though it is probably a good idea to stop sending coins to his addresses though until it is absolutely verified his family has access.

Trying to get money for tragedies or capitalising off somebody's death is a common scam because it works so well. They could have been working in cahoots with him as well, and assuming he is actually deceased (is there anything online other than the obituary sites and funeral home?). I'm not saying he faked his own death or anything but until I see something concrete I'll keep an open mind. I don't really believe it was someone else posting from his account either but using pictures from December was a little suspect, but nothing would surprise me with Bruno. I could never really figure him out. There were times when he seemed fairly desperate for cash in the past, especially when he sold his accounts, and that ICO or whatever he tried a while ago just seemed like every other cash grab ICO people come up with and when he popped up asking for money I was a little concerned. I think I'd be a little disappointed if he didn't figure out someway to troll us from beyond the grave though and that's why I'm still waiting for his accounts to reactive at some point. Selling them for one final time would definitely be a way to get a little extra cash. I probably wouldn't even blame him for selling them given the circumstances.
1425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 17, 2020, 12:32:09 PM
I reckon it might not work similar to smallpox vaccines. The coronavirus is similar to the flu virus. Flu vaccinations are given to people, however, why are some of those people again infected by the flu? There might be more strains mutating.

I agree.
Only thing they can give them is that anti-malaria tablets in combination with antibiotics.

Imagine that training with antivirus gear with gloves and mask.

Half of the world is still going about their business. If people can get on public transport and go to work in buildings with hundreds of people then I'm sure they UFC fighters will be fine.

Dana White is an amazing and determined man. If he is lucky he is planning his next event on May 9th. It is understandable it is a sport that generates a lot of money but the situation in the USA is critical. The USA became the first country with more positive cases for Covid19. Let's see what happens.
WOW that's a big news. Does anyone know what will be the fight card? And where the event will take place?

He's apparently trying to get Justin Gaethje to fight Ferguson but there is no details known other than that. He's probably keeping most stuff secret for obvious reasons. I'm sure he'll take whatever fights he can get but it'll probably include fighters from the scrapped UFC 249. This is just something Dana is trying to get done much like the last fight and I would be very surprised if it happens at all, but props to Dana for trying at least.
1426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 17, 2020, 12:18:14 PM
I think that's what they should do and play it as some sort of tournament within a month or two after the domestic leagues have finished or something. All teams fly to a neutral county and play all the games in the same ground or two. You probably don't need to play both legs then either so that will cut the tournament down by half. I think it will have to be done something like this as organising pan-European matches is much more difficult than the domestic games if they even get going anytime soon.

I think they will still keep the 2-legged format. They have to for the Last 16 round because the 1st leg has already been played (2nd as well for some teams) and then there's not a big difference in number of games if you play 1 or 2 - it comes down to difference of 6 games (4 in QF and 2 in the semis). These are the ones that bring the highest revenue though so I have a feeling clubs would be required to play them as it was meant to be.

Well they can play them for this round. Both legs really don't need to be played after that, especially if they're on neutral grounds.

Also - the 'one or two grounds' rule would be hard as well - the grass would be beyond repair for the final few games.

These aren't Sunday league pitches they're playing on. If they can play on a handful of grounds for tournaments I'm sure they can make it work for this. Maybe it would be a squeeze on one or two and they could probably get more done if they have a handful and play them like they would in the EUROs or whatever.

Yeah, can't see Newcastle going the way of Chelski or Citeh. EVEN if they found a way to circumvent FFP, there's no longer a road to moneybag trophies in the EPL if you can't back it up with actually decent coaching and strategy. Think the Toon Army is just business sense now, an owner reviled for years, a club still capable of attracting big name coaches, a decent fanbase that's hungry. Might be more of an Arsenal money-spinner than Sheikh-powered ambition.

Most football clubs just seem like vanity pieces and ego boosts for billionaires these days. Russian oligarchs and Arab oilmen have so much money they don't know what to do with it. I'm sure it will only get worse over time as well. The Financial Fair play rules came too late really. I'm sure there'll always be snaky ways you can get around them as well like City were apparently doing.

Newcastle fans hate Mike Ashley so for them I guess a new owner is great even if it’s headed by a guy with blood on his hands. Like others have said you can’t just spend hundreds of millions on players any more due to tighter FFP rules. I suppose the first target for Newcastle is to try & get Europa League football & try to win a trophy.

They'll hate whoever the new owner is if they don't splash the cash or bring them some sort of success. It's fairy rare that fans seem to like their owners or chairmen unless they somehow revolutionise the team. Owners obviously always treat the clubs as a business where fans don't see their teams as such.

I tried alluding to the fact that his family was aware of the donations that had been made in his name. I also recommend that no more donations be made to his addresses. I knew Bruno personally and have been in contact with a family member. That's about all I can say. If you need specifics for whatever reason then you can PM me.

Do you know whether they do or don't have access to that wallet? It sounds like they might not or haven't figured out how to gain access yet from what you said.

For a legendary bitcoiner like Bruno, I expected he left all details that needed to access wallet with the donation address he gave us and I am glad to know that is exactly what he did. Thank you for your reveal, nutildah.

As being said, I don't know him, on the forum and personally but I am glad that he has gotten big support from the community. Maybe he is smiling.

Well you would hope so but I think you're making some big assumptions and there's probably lots of things that could go wrong with transferring ownership of someones coins when they're deceased. For people not familiar with bitcoin it can seem like an alien technology sometimes. I know most of my family would probably struggle even if I left everything written down to the T on how to recover them. All it takes is one wrong character written down wrong either from your password or mnemonic and they're going to be locked out. As for Bruno hopefully he did leave them with everything they need but in his last thread he did mention he had trouble using his hands and I'm surprised he left creating that thread so late if he knew he didn't have much time left. We also don't know for certain if that was him making the posts. The images he posted are from December last year. I have lost use of my right hand. It took me two days to pen this PO.

1428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 16, 2020, 11:23:56 AM
Yeah, my opinion is that the CL will be played more like Euros - with a duration of maybe a week or 10 days total, probably after the seasons end. I cannot imagine a situation in which a team like City plays a game without fans in an isolated environment and then has to fly to Italy for a CL game.

Logistically the easiest thing would be to invite all teams to camps near a location with few good stadiums and play CL in a different format - quick and continuous knockout.

I think that's what they should do and play it as some sort of tournament within a month or two after the domestic leagues have finished or something. All teams fly to a neutral county and play all the games in the same ground or two. You probably don't need to play both legs then either so that will cut the tournament down by half. @toke don't count your $10 just yet!

Looks like Option 3 (closed doors) is all but confirmed to be the way to end this season across Europe, according to the European League dep SecGen, quoted by BBC today.

He also says "a small number" of countries are considering a cancellation, but also: "There's no doubt it will be behind closed doors".

It's much easier to void the smaller leagues where there's not that much money involved. The lower leagues have already been quietly cancelled in England.

Due pandemic time, probably most stupid what you can do is to sell a football club, sell while it is cheap.
People, what do you think of this:

"A Newcastle United takeover has moved a step closer after new documents show owner Mike Ashley has entered into a charge agreement with potential buyer Amanda Staveley."

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52284645

do we have a new project like Chelsea or Manchester City? Top six going to be top seven  Cheesy

Why would Newcastle be any different than they are now? Mike Ashley is a billionaire. He is a tightwad though. It's also much harder to buy teams and just throw a load of cash at them and make them succesfull with all the financial fair play rules they have post City-buyout.
1429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 16, 2020, 11:11:36 AM
I should say Dana White should just stop and stay put inside the comfort of his home the COVID-19 is a serious enemy that we can not see and the lives of his fighters are at stake here if he would continue on pursuing what he wants.
With the current situation there is no way we can expect Dana White will get the approval to carry on with the fight when daily around 2000 people die due to COVID 19 and if we see a significant drop in the number of reported cases which will take one more month to analyse how the situation is, the idea about conducting the fight in a private island is just a dream.

Indeed! just a dream and even with all that money it is very expensive for him to have a private Island or get fighters to snatch out from their country despite the pandemic is happening around, I would really want to laugh on all the efforts he is trying to do the way he would really want the fight of Khabib Nurmagomedov And Tony Ferguson to continue really really bad but the Pandemic is getting uglier the days go by that is why there is no other option left but to just cancel all fights in the month of April and even May because there is no telling when will this pandemic end.

What makes you think it would be any more expensive than putting on a regular fight? I don't think renting out an island would be that much more expensive or make it much more difficult to arrange a fight. It may even be cheaper. For a regular fight, you'll have to pay an insane amount for the venue, all the staff, and you still have to fly your fighters in from either all around the world or the country. With an island, he may have friends that have them and would let him use them for little to no money. Even if he doesn't and has to rent one I would imagine the price could be comparable to an arena. Flying fighters out there probably wouldn't be much more of a hassle than a regular fight anywhere else. With it being an island there will probably be minimal staff they need to employ vs the probably hundreds in security and venue staff they would need at an arena. I'm really excited to see what he pulls off and if he can pull it off. Even when this whole pandemic thing is over the 'Fight Island' could be regular thing that happens like once a year or maybe more. I think it could add a new dimension to fights.
1430  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos, may be a custom title please. on: April 16, 2020, 09:10:12 AM
Is it 100% confirmed that he died? That everhere.com site kind of looks like a scam... Though based on Bruno's recent posts, it seems plausible.

It looks like anyone can create an 'obituary' on there and they don't require legal proof unless you're soliciting donations, but nothing would surprise me with Bruno. When I saw the thread about his imminent death and asking for donations I was a little concerned but didn't say anything because he was clearly ill or at least had been through major surgery. Love him or hate him he definitely was a unique character who left his mark here and probably won't be forgotten about.

I'm not going to do it regularly, but I'll make an exception here and give VIP status & a custom title to Phinnaeus Gage and Gleb Gamow. However, I know that these accounts changed hands in the past, and maybe arrangements have been for this to happen again in the future; therefore, if either account ever posts in the future, I will remove this stuff from the account.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if his accounts re-activated again at some point.

Hello theymos, I'm sure all appreciated your kind gesture for Bruno.

May I ask if you can do the same for two other members who passed away and helped the forum in the past? Meaning Zepher and Paraipan.

The same pariapan that somehow managed to move the money he was holding two years after he died? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1577411.0

I think this is where things become problematic. Was it ever confirmed that he actually died? I never saw anything concrete. Of course it's possible that a family member accessed his wallets but we'll probably never know.
1431  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Should I donate the Known Alts Donation funds to Bruno's plea? on: April 16, 2020, 08:46:48 AM
Personally I wouldn't send anything until you know that you're not just sending it directly into a black hole. Why don't you donate it in his honour to another charity? That would seem more apt in my opinion. There's millions of other charities and people around the world that could do with some help right now and a fair few accept bitcoin directly.

I wouldn't donate it unless there is a way to confirm that any of his relatives have access to the funds. It would be a waste if you donate it while knowing that the funds will be lost.

Guess it's already confirmed here that his family has access to the donation address.

Confirmed by who? Some random no-name account? I wouldn't believe anything that accounts says without some evidence. People have questioned his legitmacy:

I've contacted the family and did one more donation. They have access to the crypto addresses.

Many of you told me that we shouldn't do it, but I had to know if they have all they need. ATM costs are mostly covered, I can't give more details as it won't be fair.

I never met him or cared about him or his work, but only the fact that a dying person asks for the money to get his body to his homeplace made me sad. I had the same story with my father.

I hope this is helpful for some.

Pardon my curiosity,
would you be able to tell us more about you being able to contact the family?
Or at least to prove your sayings by providing us the TX of your donation, and if possible sign a message from the same btc address your "donation" came from.

I really want to believe you, I do, I've been wearing his signature since day one.
Should you be able to prove what you say, we may see more donations being sent to Bruno's family.

Thanks

No, not at all. I actually don't want and I don't care you are wearing it. I also had a text created by a member for some days but I realised it is useless as the signature is not noticable for my rank.

And regarding my donation, neah. I don't want to, not right now at least nor have the interest. It is a good ammount from my point of view and I have no interest in making it public.

If you have the interest contact the family and they will probably let you know if you say my name M.

Probably if you look at the first post I did in this topic, you can find my first donation and my address Wink

Just can't believe you guys, shilling with RIP for days and what you get now is this.. lame

@hilarious

I think each team could play 2 games per week & it’ll all be done in 2 months then. What happens with the CL & EL though?
UEFA have already said they will be completed too.

There's only a handful of teams left in the competition so it shouldn't be that hard for them to fit them in somewhere. Maybe some teams will have to play three games a week if necessary. They could maybe play the Champions League games after all the domestic leagues have finished also. Might be something to look forward to or at least replace the postponed Euros in the summer (assuming football can be played by then). Can't see the PL being resumed anytime soon though as things are still getting worse here but restrictions in some mainland European countries seem to be improving.

That 10 bucks is mine already Wink

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8139437/amp/Start-June-1-play-matches-SIX-weeks-Premier-Leagues-plan-save-season.html

The Premier League's new 'plan to finish the season': Start again on June 1, play all of the matches in just SIX weeks and begin the 2020-21 campaign in early August to stave off financial disaster

Okok...  Can we wait until the first matches are played?  I'll pay you then.  You just never know..  I don't trust anything I read right now.  At first I really thought this whole thing was gonna over in a couple weeks or so.  But now...  Dunno.

I wouldn't pay out any bet on this until the first ball has been kicked... or the last. The games could be announced then cancelled or postponed again for numerous reasons, or they might not manage to finish the season either.

I think the FA was not expecting things to escalate so quickly which is why they thought that plan was a solid plan. It could still be, though, maybe it needs some changes. Nonetheless, thx for the link, didn't know about this "all games in just six weeks" plan.

There are a 92 games remains to play in PL + FA + league cup. I don't think they can finish it all in two months. I see no reason to delay the start next season and make some changes in cups competition, like only one game with extra time & penalties if ends in a draw. So it can be resumed after 1st Jully, I guess the pandemic could be significantly controlled by then.
there will not be or will be a very short break between the two seasons, but now all of them have an unplanned vacation.

The season would have nearly been over within two months anyway. The first game postponed was on the 11/03 and the final games where scheduled  for 17/05. I don't think they should cram them all in to a very small time frame but maybe they could play midweek games so it'll be over within half the time.

I'm surprised you're wanting to take this. I'm half interested in taking you up on it. I really can't see them scrapping the league all together. There would be a multitude of lawsuits from every direction. You've got Liverpool who will essentially be stripped of their first Premier League title and then there'll be teams like Sheffield and Wolves who are possibly missing out on Europa/possibly even Champion's League places. Then there'll be teams like Leeds and West Brom who will sue for their promotions from the Championship. Then there's also the billion plus pounds the PL will owe in refunds for the TV rights which could be devastating for them and sour their relationship with the broadcasters. I think the best solution for everyone would just be to pause it indefinitely until they can play the remaining games. That seems like the best and most reasonable solution. Football isn't going to be cancelled forever so just play the games as soon as they can. Voiding the league is going to cause so many problems and to deny Liverpool of their title seems unthinkable. Leeds also won't be happy as they've been out of the PL so long.

Dana White to begin shipping fighters to Fight Island — ‘I’ll see you in a month’

“I’m telling all my guys not to worry because ‘Fight Island’ is going to happen,” White told ESPN. “All the infrastructure is being built right now and getting put in place. As we get closer to that, then I’ll start figuring out booking fights, getting guys ready, plus I can ship guys over there earlier and they can start training over there on the island.”

They should make a reality show out of it. Or just drop them off at the island and see if they can survive... or let them fight to the death  Grin.

So there will be no postponed that will happen, Mr. Dana White will continue to build the infrastructure to successfully launch the fight. Anyway UFC is not just a sport, it is a big business where it can generate wealth specially for those people who have huge amount of money. I do not know if Dana White will announce the location of the fight island or he will keep it secret so there will be no intervention that will happen.

You are so damn right. I'm wondering how much that is going to cost to build everything on an fight island and to move all the fighters there as the flights are cancelled. Using private jet and then disinfect it? Imagine that there are fighters who hate each other and cant be on the same flight together Smiley

And imagine how exclusive this tournament gonna be and how much tickets gonna cost and what precautionary measures gonna be made. Crazy!

It being on a private island isn't really any different than it being in a venue with fighters who don't like each other. As for the infrastructure, all it might need is a ring built and obviously some sort of way to beam the transmission around the world but that will be the same as any venue.

For instance, check out Richard Branson's Necker Island:

All you would need is to build a ring and have some way to transmit the feed. I'm guessing it already has a decent internet connection but it'll probably need some sort of TV transmitter as I don't know how reliable the internet would be or how much they rely on it to broadcast regular events around the world.

I told you I can't see this fight happening. It looks like it was pressure from ESPN/Disney execs for calling it off. He should just do this Fight Island thing himself if ESPN doesn't want in and stream it direct on the UFC fight pass. I'm sure that would be huge business for him. I could see a special fight like that attracting some big names as it will be the first of it's kind if it goes ahead.

Breaking news!
UFC249 event is canceled, all events on hold indefinitely due to coronavirus pandemic!
Dana White says Fight Island will happen sometimes in future...
The ego of Dana White is crushed by the media executives and just now he came to know about the COVID 19 pandemic Cheesy. Even earlier i said that the reason Dana is adament to carry on with the event is because of money even though he was saying he had the money and he does not need money, but the company needs money and for that they need to put out fights and now the media executives might have come to a conclusion that they will compensate something and it would be risky and there will be backlash if something wrong happens everyone will take the blame and it will not be good for business in the long run.

Dana White is worth hundreds of millions so he's right when he says he doesn't need the money, but would you expect any CEO or figurehead of a business to just give up on the company they're involved with? You can't deny Dana's passion for the sport and it's admirable that he's even trying to get something going rather than just staying at home in his mansion waiting for things to blow over as what is happening with most sports. Dana knows that this fight could happen as logistical it's possible with minimum amount of people so he's doing his best to make it happen as he also knows there's a lot of demand from fans for it. I hope he continues to try get something done because the world could do with some entertainment right now.

I don’t know if you follow Simon Brodkin on Twitter - he’s the comedian who satirises premiership footballers with his character Jason Bent.
He’s really going for it at the moment - proper targeting the elite footballers - AND VERY FUNNY !
Here’s a couple of his recent tweets - worth a watch

This was legendary:

He's pulled off some awesome pranks/stunts over the years. I haven't seen he's been posting on Twitter but the Jason Bent character was great. I recommend watching his sketch show and the 110% Bent ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVm46VADn8I

Since it is obvious that the Premier league won't continue for quite some time, the players are apparently ready to talk about some wage cuts.
They rejected the initial 30% reduction for the next 12 months' period.

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/coronavirus-pfa-pay-cuts-charity-rashford-zaha-latest-a9453656.html

Not much in the article besides the fact that some funds will be used but a video at the top shows an interesting overview of how the sport in general is affected.
With all this talk or players and staff at clubs taking wage cuts and/or furloughing , I wonder what wage cut the EPL Chief Executive Richard Masters is taking ? I’ve had a look for his salary and can’t find it anywhere and there certainly no mention of a wage cut for him !
Don’t get me wrong players are overpaid , but if there’s talk of wage cuts it’s got to start from the top !

Whilst I agree most players can afford to take a pay cut not all PL players are in the same position financially. I also think they're unfairly being singled out in the media with them being asked to be the first public figures to take pay cuts when nobody's calling for billionaires to help out. With that being said, 30% isn't much and especially since they're not even playing right now. It would be interesting to see if the PL bosses do do the same. The might have to make some cut backs somewhere if they're going to be refunding the billion+ pounds in TV rights that they can't complete.

UFC 249 is signed and confirmed by Dana White.
Main event will be TonyFerguson vs Justin Gaethje
Date is April 18th
I have to say I am not impressed at all...

Ahh man, that’s disappointing. How many times has Tony vs Khabib flopped now when it was supposed to happen?
I’m starting to wonder if we’ll ever see those two fight.

They should try make that the first big fight after the pandemic has blow over. Assuming Tony wins. Or maybe another McGregor fight.

But I don't like this. Dana White is putting people at risk. Nearly every events were cancelled. Other sports that planned to continue matches without audiences were also cancelled. State athletic commisions should never approve this event.

I still can't see it happening, but I would like to see it as long as it's safe, but I would be surprised if whatever the relevant US governing bodies are allow it. Dana mentioned the last UFC bout in Brazil in March with Lee vs. Oliveira which went underway behind closed doors during the pandemic and they got it going with less than 50 people allegedly but something tells me it's possibly a lot easier to do things in Brazil than the US. It was only the start of the pandemic as well and things are far more serious now. Dana is being tight-lipped about where the bout is taking place so I'm not sure he's got the thing lockdown 100% and/or he's doing this so they don't get shut down.

What makes me wonder is why Dana is so eager to push this UFC 249? Is ot really a big loss for him? I can see that he can do what all it takes for this event to happen up to extent that he is willing to set a private island for this Shocked (just a post I saw recently, I am not sure yet if it is legit).

Well it's his job to make these fights and money is on the line. Also, I think any sort of big sporting event would be huge right now and potentially big business because there's so little sport going on. A hell of a lot of people will likely tune into this during times like these.

Dana White securing private island for events, adds UFC 249 fighters will be tested for Covid-19

Yeah, saw that in a current interview he did yesterday.Full interview on ESPN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-wSd5AeKXY&t

Private Island sounds cool. I'm interested to see what he pulls off, and if he can pull it off.

I mean, how they can do this to Kabeeb? That was some intense interviews since they met at their media conference. No doubt that the fight will be the most amazing fight in the history of UFC if that ever happened. They go to this far just to continue that event.

To be honest, Khabib probably could have made this fight if he wanted to. He flew home to Russia and offers for private jets to make this fight were offered. I don't blame him for not wanting to fight but I don't think the UFC has done him dirty.

Robin William kys over the obligations, his divorced, his obligations to pay for alimony for his exwife, in a time of crisis like today, the alimony doesn’t stop rolling, paying debt already painful enough. But imaging working as hard as possible to fund the lifestyle of the person you hate the most on the earth, he might get killed in car accident or something by deliberately making up a false accident, and get life insurance, and the compensation will still goes to his exwife, kys so no life insurance!

Robin Williams is a person who had a lot of things going on and had so for a long period of time. He'd suffered from depression and drug abuse throughout his life but he also had early stages of Parkinson's disease/dementia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Williams#Addiction_and_health_problems

Quote
In an essay published in the journal Neurology two years after his death, Schneider revealed that the pathology of Lewy body disease in Williams was described by several doctors as among the worst pathologies they had seen. She described the early symptoms of his disease as beginning in October 2013. Williams' initial condition included a sudden and prolonged spike in fear and anxiety, stress and insomnia; which worsened in severity to include memory loss, paranoia, and delusions. According to Schneider, "Robin was losing his mind and he was aware of it ... He kept saying, 'I just want to reboot my brain.'"

I don't think anyone could imagine what that's like to go through but it was obviously something he found unbearable especially on top of his depression and whatever other worries he had going on. Being famous/in the public eye probably doesn't help either and is likely to exacerbate problems. My great granddad had Parkinson's disease and my current granddad has early stages of dementia and both are horrible diseases that can progress quite rapidly. Depending how bad the diseases get they're probably not something I'd not want to live with personally so I can understand Robin William's situation.
