1441  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Service to short stocks with Bitcoin? on: February 09, 2020, 07:19:00 AM
Are there any that don't require KYC? Or do they all require some degree of it.

If there was a way to short stocks with the same ease that you could long/short BTC perps then I think a lot of people what be doing it.

With these traditional forex brokers I feel like that either they are super shady or they have high fees, and/or have a lot of regulatory hoops that the user has to jump through before they can obtain a working account. That really drives away a lot of potential users imo.
1442  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull run confirmed ? bitcoin ready to $10.000 on: February 09, 2020, 07:01:26 AM
I would say be cautiously optimistic.

Don't expect this kind of parabolic rise to continue forever. There will be probably significant resistance at the $12k level where the last bull rally essentially failed months before, and potentially at even lower price levels which will lead to pullbacks at the end of the day.

Just be prepared for these types of events and don't let it catch you off guard. Also don't go full retard and start leveraging the hell out of your positions, because that just means that any short term black swan events will mean that everything you've got will be liquidated.

Be smart about it holding, as well as patient.
1443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What p2p games will you play? on: February 09, 2020, 06:33:20 AM
Something that's fast paced and easy to play would work, one hard part in making p2p gambling games succeed is to have active players or games up for most of the time so new users would be able to try them.

I imagine that p2p products will only be attractive to players if/when there is some degree of house involvement. I.e., the house can match bets if there are nobody else taking the bet within 10 mins, etc.
Bitdouble did this when they had coinflips on their site, bots would automatically create games and wait for users to match their bets. Unfortunately they closed down after having issues with their site.

Yep.

I find that a lot of csgo gambling sites are extremely popular, and are mostly p2p oriented. Yet bitcoin counterparts that offer the same types of games struggle.

It honestly comes down to somewhat of a foul play by the house - I wouldn't doubt that over half of the more popular csgo gambling sites either had insiders betting on coinflips or had bots join them when nobody else would, essentially bridging the liquidity gap.

Of course, there's a conflict of interest there and it's hard to justify. But punters find this attractive, some how.

Also, the game mode is extremely important - something like coinflips are extremely popular while something like binary options that takes a while and is relatively slow doesn't fare as well.
1444  Economy / Economics / Re: Goverments creating digital currencies - Threat or Opportunity? on: February 09, 2020, 06:16:40 AM
It's not a threat to Bitcoin at all -- Bitcoin can only grow stronger for every instance of centralised money that is created and continues to come up short. Every failure of the centralised and the state, is a victory for Bitcoin. Threat to other centralised altcoins? Oh for sure.

Opportunity? Why not? Every government that realises it is creating yet another centralised currency - just more transparent and more under their control, might like blockchain and in that sense recognises Bitcoin tech as valid.

The one thing that worries me is the fact that governments may impose restrictive regulation on top of issuing their own cryptocoins, in order to preserve the status of their centralized money as the only "legal tender" or legal currency at the very least in their own jurisdiction.

That will be detrimental for bitcoin and other decentralized currencies, no doubt.

But even then, there is really no way of enforcing these bans and censoring the network entirely - which is one of the beauties of the BTC network in the first place.
1445  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC restoring faith in bull run. on: February 09, 2020, 06:06:39 AM
BTC rally this year has pulled many coins up after two years of bear market. It has just crossed the golden cross and restoring faith in bull run.

Golden cross are incredibly important and it could  be the signal for the investors to buy the dip. As halving is nearing there are big expectations and hopefully it will create history again, Guys just invest in BTC for a better tomorrow. Good luck!!!!

I don't think that faith in BTC should be swayed by price movements in the short term, that's just plain and simple.

Also, don't be surprised if there were some sort of short term pullback in terms of price in the near future - with such high amounts of growth there is no doubt that a correction will occur sooner or later, but I do think that it'll probably be around the $11k mark before anything major occurs.

Keep buying dips, keep holding. That's still the mantra.
1446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2019-2020 betting on: February 09, 2020, 01:26:12 AM
Hi guys! here's my pick again.

Pacers vs Pelicans.

Pacers lose against the Raptors at home, and that extend their losing streak to 4, therefore I think they'll be more aggressive and will try to win games against the Pelicans. I believe they can win this because they still have a great home record and it's good for Pacers that Ingram is unlikely to be available in this game.

PICK " PACERS -2.5

Not looking too hot right now.

A zion-less and ingram-less pelicans team seems to be holding up extremely well and they're actually leading by 8 halfway through the 2nd quarter. Very surprising for sure.

Of course second half could swing in the complete opposite way, especially with this being Indiana's home court. But it'll be difficult to see the spread being covered as well as Indiana winning in this one...

1447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What p2p games will you play? on: February 09, 2020, 01:23:40 AM
I wouldn't say that Betller is a complete failure - they had an interesting concept (going back to secondstrade days) and actually had quite good customer service and responsiveness compared to other BTC p2p gambling sites.

They just need to refine their product though.

I imagine that p2p products will only be attractive to players if/when there is some degree of house involvement. I.e., the house can match bets if there are nobody else taking the bet within 10 mins, etc.

1449  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top analyst warns a hard dump. on: February 05, 2020, 05:51:29 PM
If resistance at that 10k level is high enough, then yes, it's entirely possible to have a sizable correction before the bullish sentiment continues.

But overall, I don't see much of a prospect for that given the fact that the wider markets are expecting a bull run and as a result, sentiment is very bullish and can even be somewhat of a self fulfilling prophecy.

Don't always blindly believe what 'top analysts' say. They can be swayed by opinion and sentiment the same way that we do, and even worse, they may have an underlying agenda to push.
1450  Other / Meta / Re: Send shady merits on: February 05, 2020, 05:37:26 PM
There is no way these two aren't alts of each other, or at least related in one way or another through this service of team360 or whatever it's called. Better yet, they could be bought merits.

Unfortunately merit farming is a widespread issue and according to some people, on local boards you are able to obtain a lot of merits for an extremely cheap price.

From a sig campaign point of view though, it shouldn't be that big of an issue if the campaign manager does his due diligence in terms of at least just glancing over the merit sources
1451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] I was scammed on Youtube. What to do? on: February 05, 2020, 01:00:10 PM
If you are falling for such rudimentary scams then I implore you to seriously reconsider investing in altcoins like ETH, because your opinions about the coins can likely be swayed easily one way or another by simple methods of manipulation and you won't be able to hold onto your positions for as long as it takes to make a profit.

This one in particular is one of the very common scams that exist within the crypto space, mostly targeting newbies like yourself.

Follow common sense and you'll be able to avoid almost all of the scams of this type. If an extraordinary sum of returns is being promised then it's probably too good to be true.
1452  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] DO NOT buy from tibet230 on: February 05, 2020, 12:46:16 PM
Why did you even bother starting the deal if you feel like that it's too good to be true? I don't need to repeat the cliched saying that has been posted time and time again.

What I suggest you do is take this as a lesson and move on. There is virtually no point trying to get back $10 which is such a small amount, even if you do retrieve it the opportunity cost in terms of the effort you put in will far outweigh the rewards you get.

Try avoiding buying accounts from randoms and in general because a lot of them are sold hacked and can be easily retrieved by the original owner. As you jnow not everyone has the kindest intentions.
1453  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [Non-exhaustive] List of trusted and most known traders in the Crypto Twitter on: February 05, 2020, 12:10:01 PM
In my humble opinion, you should not be taking advice at face value for any one of these so called media influencers.

A lot of these people, imo at least, use their position of influence and their reputation of being an accurate speculator or trader of signals to their own advantahe by manipulating people's expectations in terms of future expectations of price, which eventually becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Either way, please exercise due caution.

1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin Private Key brute-forcing? on: February 02, 2020, 06:31:24 AM
1. What is it?
2. How does it work?
3. How likely is it that a full length of a private key can be brute-forced?

There's a thread about bitcoin address collisions or something along the lines of that, which essentially tries to brute force people's private keys AFAIK. There's also a lot of controversy around these projects because of the fact that no one knows exactly whether or not they are legit, and the figures they provide are legitimate.

Assuming that the figures these bitcoin colliders provide are legitimate, the risk is still very, very low.

You would almost certainly be better off dedicating such huge amounts of computing power to mining BTC or other coins rather than trying to brute force a particular private key. It's much harder to do this than to brute force, say a bank password, because this is completely random.
1456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NitrogenSports forcing me to rollover my deposit once? on: February 02, 2020, 06:04:42 AM
If you do not have any success with them then please create a scam thread. From reading other replies it seems they have a habit of doing the same thing to their users on a very regular basis so maybe they deserve to be put under a negative light to be scrutinised.

I made a 0.4BTC deposit to NitrogenSports today, because I withdrew some funds from Deribit and had my Nitrogensports deposit address saved from a previous withdrawal. I didn't realise that adding a new address would result in a 3 day cooldown period before I could actually use it to withdraw, so I went ahead and withdrew to Nitrogen.

~snip~

EDIT: My userid is 1912815

The issue was resolved eventually through me completing the 1 time rollover. I'm not sure if there is much point in trying to create a scam accusation thread now.

The support did show me the relevant clauses that are associated with the 1 time rollover requirement, which *technically* backs up their arguments. However, I still don't think that these clauses are fair to the users and should come under closer scrutiny.

I understand that there is really nothing that I can personally do to change how this industry operates, but at least others can see my case and potentially be steered away from similar situations.
1457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NitrogenSports forcing me to rollover my deposit once? on: February 01, 2020, 09:30:17 PM
The issue got resolved, not without hiccups.

I was certain that I turned over my funds once (as I bet an extra few times as well to ensure that is the case), but when I submitted a support ticket, their response with simply "you have not hit the rollover threshold, please keep playing on sportsbook/casino/poker".

It was after I gambled another 0.1 BTC in volume that they decided to unlock my account. I've gotten my withdrawal now.

I know that it's my fault for withdrawing straight to a site like this. But that doesn't mean that what they're doing is not scammy.
1458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Lending coins damage crypto? on: February 01, 2020, 11:50:17 AM
It honestly gave crypto an extremely bad reputation, of being a get rich quick scheme, a ponzi scheme, whatever.

The public seemed to struggle to separate their perceptions of mainstream, legitimate decentralized coins from these ponzi lending coins that simply use blockchain as a means to further themselves in terms of gains for the operators.

It's a good riddance, although I do feel for the victims who lost out on their life savings.
1459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NitrogenSports forcing me to rollover my deposit once? on: February 01, 2020, 11:21:56 AM
^  Exactly...

Sports betting sites hate it when you use them for 'laundering' your utxo's.  I mean maybe that's what it must've looked like from their side.

I've heard of these horror stories in the past, never thought it would happen to me.

My intention was not to mix coins or anything like that. I've stated it in OP.

Anyhow, it seems like that they won't budge. I've completed my rollover now (very reluctantly) and hopefully they do free up my account.

They also did show me a clause in the terms and conditions that is well hidden under the "cashier" section. Whether or not this was reasonable is up to you to decide Undecided
1460  Economy / Gambling discussion / NitrogenSports forcing me to rollover my deposit once? on: February 01, 2020, 10:44:34 AM

As a 'gesture' to pay for the tx fees associated with this transaction, I opened a 0.0001 BTC blackjack bet and surrendered. (somewhat irrelevant).

I received this message from support, alongside a message that my account was suspended after I requested withdrawal:

Quote
Hello 1912815,

We regret to inform that your latest withdrawal request was not authorized and the funds have been returned to your account's balance.

After carefully reviewing your account we noticed that you have not completed sufficient action since your last deposit.

We would like to remind you that Nitrogen Sports offers a gambling service and it is expected that any deposit made is done with the intention of providing action on our site. This is standard request in the industry therefore kindly complete a one-time rollover with your funds in our site.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

Allen R.

The closest term I could find on their site was this, regarding bonuses:

Quote
Any funds added to your account via poker free rolls, contests and free bets carry a mandatory 2X rollover unless otherwise noted. In order to request a withdrawal of any winnings from promotions or bonuses, all players are required to have a deposit history of at least 0.005 BTC and provide significant action (one-time rollover on deposit funds).

However, clearly my deposit was not the result of a bonus or anything of that sort. So this does not apply to my situation whatsoever.

They also mention that this is industry standard. However, out of all the dice sites and crypto casinos that I've played at (bitsler, yolodice, primedice, stake, bustabit), they all allow you to withdraw without any rollover requirements.

This is predatory behaviour, imo, since players are forced into playing on the site and make potentially rash decisions as soon as they deposit.

I'm happy to pay whatever tx fees associated with my withdrawal (0.00005 BTC seems standard on other sites, and I've already willingly given that up), but I'm not happy to be forced into rolling my balance over once without any particular reason. I understand that this is not supposed to be used as a wallet service, but I've played here numerous times in the past (and lost a bunch, mind you) and it just seems like they're trying to force me into playing more.

I'm waiting for their support to respond. Hopefully this does get resolved.
