1461  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Escrows - Trade Safely! on: January 02, 2016, 05:15:02 PM
marcotheminer move SebastianJu to "The Big 5"
Because nobody from "Others" deserves to be in that list before SebastianJu.

1463  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Escrow Question on: January 02, 2016, 12:43:22 PM
I have bitcoins.  I want Bank of America online transfer.  However i read BoA transfers can easily be reversed.  I also know that many other methods like paypal are not safe etc.

I read about escrow.  First off, how does that work?  I have done that before but in a poker forum where i transfer funds to a guy... then once he receive it, then the other person who would send me funds would be notified the escrow received it... then they send me the funds... then escrow send my funds to the other guy.

First off, if escrow is used for bitcoins, does that mean its 100 percent safe?  And how many escrows are there here?  Its a person right?

How much fees does an escrow charge?  Is it based on the amt being traded such as a percentage no matter what?  I assume its not a flat rate right?

If i do this, does that mean the BoA online transfer i receive will be coming from the escrows boa account or the other party's boa account?  Because if its other party, then couldn't it still be reversed if its deemed to be fraud or they say it wasn't them etc?

There are many good escrows at the moment in forum which most of them do not charge any fees.
Even though there some that charge, it is a small amount like 1% or a minimum of 0.01BTC
Escrow is a real person and not a (ro)bot, nothing is 100% safe but we should trust them if we want to use their service.
1464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Video: 5 Ways to Use Bitcoin on: January 02, 2016, 12:38:05 PM

The second one makes me a bit confused how can someone send a half cent through bitcoin?
It is already 0.000012 btc at the moment and the transaction fees are almost 0.0001BTC (~x10)
1465  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Bitcoin Exchange (Official Thread)*** on: January 02, 2016, 12:31:52 PM
As I do not get answer from support i ask here

How are you (Cex.io) making this competition transparent?

Other sites show league tables for top traders and also all entrants. Will you do this? or will it be hidden until you magically select a winner?

We cannot disclose such information because of security reasons and confidentiality.
However, winners can reveal themselves after the contest if they want to.

He is probably meaning for yobit which can be found here https://yobit.net/en/top/
How it works is that you get automatically "Anonymous" nickname by default and tells your current rank.
1466  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How many people buy or sell Bitcoin locally on: January 02, 2016, 12:29:21 PM
It  looks as if buying Bitcoin over the net is fraught with risks, and reputable traders seem to have wide spreads. The obvious solution would be to buy Bitcoin through a local face-to-face contact. Have any members of this forum done this?

It's not actualy a big deal, dealing with someone face to face, you just meetup and deal.
If you have a mobile wallet you can easily transfer the bitcoin there, if not maybe a laptop should be required.
1467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins do you have to sell to make a living? on: January 02, 2016, 11:33:09 AM
every months at least I sell 1-2BTC to my life. but 1BTC highly enough for me because I was not married Cheesy
For unmarried people it does not require lots of money to live.
Especially if you still live with your family, in general i would say 1-1.5BTC is enough for food and other basic things.
yes but unfortunately I always have a lot of expenses Cheesy
yes 1-1.5BTC highly enough for the necessities of life if I was married, because the cost of living in my country is not too high.
This seems to be good for you, the problem now is how to earn these money.
Bitcoin price is increasing and the amount to live is going to be less every time Tongue
but this time I tried to downsize. bitcoin is money, so of course I will continue to look for and collect bitcoin for my life in future Tongue
If you can why not collecting more bitcoins because bitcoin maybe will have a good future.
I want to see the time when we should need 0.xBTC to live, which means a higher value of bitcoin.

1471  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best bitcoin mining rig for $1000? on: December 31, 2015, 12:22:18 PM
I'm not very smart on mining although I started doing it in 2012 and stopped for a while but I have about $1000 on amazon so I would like to know what you people think would be the best bang for my buck on a mining rig from amazon for around $1000 I can go a lil over aswell. BTW: I won't be paying in electricity bills if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Since 2012 many things have been changed, as some here i also suggest S5+ or an S7
You can mine directly but also rent that hash power but you still will make profit good luck
1472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is legal or illegal? on: December 31, 2015, 12:19:32 PM
Let's take the discussion here. I would like to ask you some questions, namely:
1. What is bitcoin is legal or illegal?
2. What are the shortcomings of bitcoin?
3. According to you whether bitcoin transaction can be said to be "safe"?

Bitcoin is legal in most of the countries but in some countries it is not allowed to use bitcoin.
Once the bitcoin transaction gets few confirmation it is safe enough and you should not worry about it
1473  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin always be dependent on fiat? Is it? on: December 31, 2015, 12:12:36 PM
BTC depends on fiat to an extent, you still can't use it except in association with fiat (a btc is worth etc...) and I think that will continue for the time being, maybe sometime in the future BTC will be an independent currency itself.
What is the value of bitcoin? On what currency do we compare on how much cost a bitcoin.
The answer is fiat, a bitcoin worth 400+ dollars, it will always be depended on fiat.
1474  Economy / Speculation / Re: $400 will not survive the weekend on: December 31, 2015, 12:00:29 PM
I think BTC goes ut this weekend too!

It hold 400$ for all this week, and it could be a really bullish signal.

Today is the last day for this year and the price is expected to be at least above $400
Not as we expected to happpen at least $500, OP it should survive $400 this weekend.

Even if the price is lower than $400 later today, it does not matter. I believe the price will be over $600 later next year.
Little transaction could move the price today? You think so?

Every transaction can affect a little bit the price but today i doubt.
Most of people are preparing for the New Year Eve and maybe don't have much time to trade.
1475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's use mBTC instead of BTC on: December 31, 2015, 10:43:23 AM
I don't know about you guys, but more and more often I find myself dealing with numbers like 0.004 BTC, 0.05 BTC, etc. in everyday transactions. I hate decimals and I think most of you are in the same boat as me. Our brain works much better with whole numbers. Given that 1 mBTC is in the same order of magnitude as 1 USD, why don't we start measuring our transactions in mBTC?

It is depended on people preferences, personally i hated to deal with decimals,
But i am familiar now, and i like more to deal with decimals instead of satoshis or mBTC

1477  Economy / Digital goods / Re: One of the first 500 BitcoinTalk account's created for sale on: December 31, 2015, 10:36:15 AM
OP please mention the price in the original post, and max that this account have potential activity could be full member (max)
I am curious how much do these accounts sold for. visitorsbit or bctalkaccountpricer can calculate the potential activity
1478  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P SCAMMER. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 30, 2015, 08:14:50 PM
How much btc does master-p currently have? How is he going to send it all back?

I know that you could be tired reading 30 pages here but the total amount seems to be somewhere 10,000-12,000 USD worth in Bitcoin. How is he going to send it back we are cuorius how? we are waiting what will happen.
1479  Economy / Speculation / Re: $2k in january on: December 30, 2015, 08:06:26 PM
Is it really speculation if you are just throwing out random numbers?

Maye you are right and is it just plain BS.
Getting to 2K is just 1 month is hard, maybe even impossible.
However an asset doubling in value in 1 month is not new. In fact on the stock market there are stocks that went x4 in less then a month..

I know it happens, but it happens for a reason. I'd like to see some reasons why the price would go to $2000 in January. Sure the halving is coming up, but that would hardly have an impact now. I don't really know of any major change in January that will up prices. Could something crazy happen that no one knew would happen? Sure. But in order to speculate you need to at least have some reasons (even if they are unlikely, or unverified) that the price would go up.

Don't get me wrong. I am praying to the Bitcoin gods that the price goes up everyday, but I guess I'm more of a realist.
Going the bitcoin price to $2000 in January is just an imagination, it's simple impossible unless something big will happen.
Most of us are optimistic that the price will be increased very soon but not like $2000 in January
1480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some one paid 1.0394BTC as fee for 2 transactions. on: December 30, 2015, 07:55:30 PM
Probably it was a mistake when sending the bitcoins, this can happen.
But i wonder, was it confirmed very fast Tongue, really waste of hundreds of dollars.
