842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why you enable 2FA. on: September 10, 2016, 07:52:02 PM
We're the first security layer of our own stuff. And, actually, I hate 2FA. I used it only once for bitstamp and I then stopped using bitstamp.

I use 2FA very often and where I am able to enable it I do it because I feel safer when I have 2FA enabled.
Unfortunately the forum does not support 2FA yet but it would be good if we will see it in the near future.
843  Economy / Economics / Re: Why have Bitcoin instead of cash? on: September 09, 2016, 07:59:04 AM
I recently paid for some local tacos using Bitcoin. My friend who was unfamilar with Bitcoin thought it was strange, like I technically didn't pay for them or something. We got into discussing Bitcoin and one of the questions he asked me was:
"Why would you want Bitcoins instead of cash?". For a second I didn't know what to say; then I thought about it and here is what I came up with. Feel free to contribute to this.

Holding bitcoin is not always the best option especially if you invest 100% of your money (fiat) into bitcoin.
Having cash is more portable and more comfortable because you can spend where you want (not everywhere).
But I don't want to go 100% only on one, but using both of them and when we need is this what we want.
844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: September 09, 2016, 07:55:21 AM
Most of the altcoins start with a crowdfunding and with investing (ICO) at most of these funds are accumulated in bitcoin.
By this not only that these altcoins become popular but also bitcoin become more popular because through bitcoin they are investing in another cryptocurrency.

Indeed. Maybe doubling bitcoin could be possible in investing with altcoins. They have been looking for a way to double it, it might not be that fast but it could happen if the invested alt will really shine.

I haven't invested in any ICO but it contains the risk, because the price after the ico can drop and you can lose.
But also it is a good opportunity to make a profit, I saw many coins that their exchange rate was way to high than the ICO price.
if you invest into an ico you should always remember that the risks are huge, thats why i never do such investments because i would lose money

Because I have seen lots of threads that are about ICO scam then this makes me a bit afraid to invest in any ico of altcoins.
But when I check how much the community has invested in these ico it's unbelievable and sometimes it reaches millions of dollars.
845  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: September 04, 2016, 08:57:10 PM
Here is my btc addy so its documented and if my account is hacked again i can send a signed msg. 1LF7sntfKSDCirx7fExFMrPSnZaArXmfCb

You have too many scam accusations, can you resolve them?
Also I just quoted your address, but this does not mean you can sign a bitcoin message?
Refer to this thread How to sign a bitcoin message
846  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WHEN TO PURCHASE SOMETHING???????????? PLEASE HELP ME on: September 04, 2016, 05:31:43 PM
Okay, so since bitcoins rate is skyrocketing into its limit, should i purchase something right now or go to shopping spree so whenever the btc rate goes down , i made alot of profit? Thnx in advance!!!!!!!!!

Today the bitcoin price was increased for almost $40(until now) so you may better sell any altcoins because the exchange rate will drop.
Otherwise I would not sell them for fiat because we always hope that the price of bitcoin will increase more and more very soon.
847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Companies Who Reimburse Losses Stay Alive on: September 04, 2016, 04:24:45 PM
It’s really not surprising. Customers trust companies that care. I would stick with a company if they gave back what was stolen due to an error on their end. The fact that it is bitcoin makes it even more important. Many people want security with bitcoin and by reimbursing people for their losses that helps to build invaluable trust.

How do you identify the companies that will give you back the stolen money?
The only one that I know is Xapo which made a public announcement but which another company behaves the same?

Since they can't be held legally to act on that statement, it really doesn't help.
Plus they may not have enough reserves to actually refund customers if they were hacked.
So the question of whether they intend to refund customers is moot.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF XAPO GOT HACKED From this article Xapo guarantees that their users will not lose any money.
I haven't seen any other company or exchange which made a similar statement about their reserves and if they planned any plan B in case of any hack.
848  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Skype group | Bitcointalk Skype Marketplace | on: September 04, 2016, 03:57:59 PM
Well could proceed to be a good idea if the group gets some good and trusted members with the time, i would like to join actually (people can trust me too btw, lol), sending you a PM with my skype ID.

I clicked on the link and it redirected me to launch the skype application and got into the skype group.
Currently I'm the second participant there, let's see how many people will join and what will be going there.
849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: September 04, 2016, 03:41:25 PM
This is a bit tricky because sometimes a coin has very high price after the ICO because people think to hold for a longer time.
But sometimes after one or few days the price drops very low like the LISK which I watched how the price is dropping and it was more than 50-70% lower than the ico price.

So much better for now that not to hold for more longer days for those ICO coins since mostly of them will last only for few days and suddenly dump, but as lisk mentioned if you really follow the progress of that coin at the very first addition in yobit you can earn huge money for that time since the price of lisk was surging at upper thrend at that moment but sadly as other ICO's did it was been massively dump as it is.

If more and more coins are being produced the less their value will be because traders can't focus on all coins.
They focus on one or few coins to trade, i just watched the LISK because they had or still have a large community.
thats ture in my opinion the more of the coins get mined the less worthy they are, just like fiat i think, they print a lot of money so the inflation is really huge

But still it is good because through altcoins bitcoin is getting promoted more and more.
And I think that bitcoin without altcoin could have a lower price because to buy altcoins we should have first bitcoin.
850  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Skype group | Bitcointalk Skype Marketplace | on: September 04, 2016, 03:22:13 PM
Question how many people does those group has, soo its a group to buy and sell things for bitcoin? There are similiares groups doing this but at whats app. Its a good chanel to advertise as well some projects maybe?

I just joined there and seems that only 2 participants are there, seems a blank chat group so I still prefer to use forum to trade things.
Skype is good too, about discussing about the price or products that the seller are selling or the buyers are interested to buy.

It's good to see again the bitcoin price at $600+, I was a bit surprised today when I saw the graph. Let's hope the bitcoin price will reach back $700+ this month.

Thank you, received, I will continue visiting razor-forex as I found very helpful articles, so I think it's time to not only visit Coindesk from now Tongue.
Good luck with your project, hope it will have a good future.

The reply you have received is just a template that they send to all of us.
I contacted them many times and it has been a while maybe more than a year that we haven't received any satoshi from them.
I don't know how can we insist to them to pay us our money.

You should not wait for long after the ICO finishes because after some time the price would probably drop again but at the moment when ICO finishes the price is always higher then what it was while ICO was running so if you sell them on the right time you can make some good profit with it.

858  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTER.com hacked| 7170 BTC stolen | DON'T KEEP YOUR MONEY ON AN EXCHANGE | on: September 04, 2016, 11:19:26 AM
Have we a news?
bter where's my money?
Unfortunately they don't give back to us our money.
I haven't heard from them for many months, their support don't reply or reply after few months which is a long delay.

I guess those who lost their money at Bter can safely forget about it. Just stay away from this exchange in the future. In fact, better stay away from any exchange out there (Bitfinex and Criptsy users would confirm)...

Don't invest what you can't leave to rest

We have take a good lesson from bter and other exchanges that were hacked recently.
But the bter hack was in February 2014 and it has been a while since they don't give back our money, i have a good amount there unfortunately.

In fact, it was in the February of 2015, just a year and a half ago. I was there too, and just before the hack I bought dogecoins. That saved me from losing money at Bter, but if I didn't stop Bitcoin trading altogether soon thereafter, I would have most certainly lost money later at Cryptsy...

Or at Bitfinex if I had been lucky to survive the Cryptsy scam

Yes in 2015, made a mistake above, unfortunately I had dogecoins too but because while I was sleeping the price pumped it got converted to bitcoin.
Then bitcoins were stolen and here we are, still my money in their pocket, don't know if they have an account here but this is not fear.
859  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: September 04, 2016, 11:18:19 AM
Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?

This question is very tricky because we don't know or don't have the knowledge to predict after 20 years what will happen with the internet neither with the bitcoin.
I think that you should count a million dollar equivalent in bitcoin, so around 2,000BTC or more I think should be enough.

If you are a bitcoiner then there is no age limit for retirement, you can earn bitcoin till you are alive, so if you get retire from full time job then you can get full time in bitcoins after that.

When you get retired sometimes means that you are not able to work anymore so bitcoin is just money that is for the work we do, so just a kind of money.
Thinking from now about the retirement is a bit early but at least thousands of bitcoin at current value should be enough but who know what price will have bitcoin after 20 years.

Earning bitcoin doesn't involve any physical efforts, you can easily earn it by sitting at home in front of computer so I will keep on earning bitcoins even if I get retired and older.

You are probably young like most of people here, but after you get retired even your mind is tired and needs to be relaxed.
Just sitting in front of the computer you say it is easy, no it isn't, people get paid to do many tasks in computer, if you mean posting in forums then even that needs time and mind power.
