Electric cars barely making any sound at all, the highways will be dead silent.

Buy a sports car with a fat V8 just to troll people. Cheesy

Heck, some of the ICE cars make so little sound that it is "augmented" via the sound system.

I'll likely own an electric car one day in the future. In another 10 years or so, when the tech has matured. But I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be a Tesla.

All of the pre-existing automotive companies will be able to produce them not only better, but more reliable.

Tesla will have to pivot completely away from making cars. They don't make any money on them anyway.

Bingo. I watch Rich Rebuilds on YouTube and some of the quality issues are pretty bad for a car with premium pricing. Tesla is doing some interesting things with battery tech but I think the next-gen stuff is likely to come from elsewhere. I think if Bitcoin did a major leap, I might be onboard but still looking for a decent used diesel wagon right now.

Vitalik rug pulled n00bs yesterday with those Dogeclones and donated the money to charities.

Vitalik is a seriously smart dude. I don't agree with everything he is hyping about ETH and I think POS will be DOA but he's one to watch and I'd count him as definitely smarter than me (which is rare even if more deserve it).
1463  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 13, 2021, 02:31:26 AM
I've seen companies first add and then drop accepting Bitcoin for years. It seems more of a hype they are running after rather than clever financial tactics for themselves or customers.

Many of those companies were selling lower-cost items. Once fees started rising, that stopped making sense. That's apparently OK here so whatever. However, something the cost of a tesla, the fees are still insignificant so it's a fairly reasonable purchase.

As mentioned above, I think Musk just wasn't seeing the interest he was looking for so took his ball and went home.

Same. 3-4am is nearer my bed time than wakeup time.

Nothing like hearing the birds start singing and the light outside the window brightening toward the end of a long coding session. Haven't done that in a while.

I gotta say... I respect his commitment to his ideals.  An entire army of oldschool bitcoiners were starting to replace "Wen Lambo" with "Wen Tesla", and he just told them to go fuck themselves.

I am sort of being facetious, of course.  But I will arrogantly point out that when they put Bitcoin on the site and everyone was asking "Will you be buying a Tesla now?", I held my tongue.  For lot's of reasons, no small one being it takes more than a token gesture to earn my respect.

I have a feeling that the total number of Teslas bought with Bitcoin == 0.

I think this is one of those "you can't fire me, I quit" scenarios. Musk was expecting a bunch of people to roll in with their Bitcoin and nobody came to the party.

He is the same piece of shit as all the other rich elite and politicians. What ya expect? They want to keep the corrupt system running as long as they can.

I don't buy his aspie schtick either.

When i was a slavewager my alarm went off 4 o'clock in the morning every singel working day.

Now i'm on retire mode i STILL waking up around the same time without setting my alarm, it's beeing printed into my biological clock i guess Undecided

Currently 04:13 in the morning having breakfast, waiting for the morning sun to start jogging. Smiley

Hah, wow. I was never a morning lark, always a night owl. Getting up to be at work at 8am was *hard*. But now I'm effectively retired, I get up a couple of hours later tops and can't reach the 1-3pm wake times I was capable of in my prime.

My wife just told me that CNN has been dissing Tesla for energy usage. Is Musk's tweet today somehow related to that?

(Note I'm receiving that about third-hand so take it for what it is).
1468  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 13, 2021, 02:10:19 AM
Today I leveled ground and set up an outdoor pool. I had to rush to shut off the water at my wife's business because of a leak. My dog got caught up in the dog-next-door's lead and I had to rescue her. My back started hurting and I worked through it. I have blisters on my hand. The sink blocked up. My son got an "owie" on his hand and daddy fixed it and the richest man in the world took a dump in my portfolio.

I'm currently drinking gin & twist-up and I feel fine.

The fact that record inflation was announced is why the whole market is down. It is the expectation that the Fed will stop pumping bitcoin.

We all knew there was inflation, which is why everyone kept buying BTC. But now they're not able to hide it anymore.

Once they stop pumping bitcoin and then start raising rates, all markets will crash. We had the roaring 20s...what came after that?

I don't think they can switch the money printer off this time.

Makes a change from 5xxxx, I guess.
1471  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 12, 2021, 11:25:42 PM
Record USD inflation announced, should be good for Bitcoin. Oh look, a nothing tweet from Musk to mess it all up. What fun. At least the bounce-back should be quick.
1472  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 12, 2021, 04:43:26 AM
Time for bed. I'd like to place a wake-up call for $61,000 please.
1473  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 11, 2021, 11:27:22 PM

Ceiling Zuckerberg is watching you masturbate.

The last laugh is on him. I paid the 0.15BTC so my masturbation video didn’t get sent to my friends, family & colleagues.

Zuck doesn't count as any of those.
1474  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 11, 2021, 07:31:54 PM
It's not the same. It doesn't have any of the subsequent hard forks or EIPs or something... I don't think UniSwap is on it, or if it is, the volume isn't there. While one can argue it is the original ethereum, not like bcash which is the fork of bitcoin, it's being treated (by the market) as the second one.

ETH is going to 10k, it's almost at 5k. Then we'll see it hit 20k in a year or two.

Like most everyone here, I am not directly buying any of it. But I'll continually sell my ETH to get moar BTC.

Ethereum is basically Vitalik and they did the fork (though I think it was not wise to) early enough that they could get away with it (maybe).

Binance bought "Coinmarketcap" to control the MSM of price of every shitcoin and altcoin created. Even the BITCOIN price relies on this shit website, yet all the alleged Bitcoin OG'S and the shitcoin pumpers and dumpers don't say a word about this cluster fuck!, I wonder why that is?

News to me. I still use Bitcoinity for Bitcoin price. Coinmarketcap used to be good for keeping abreast of the alts but between selling out, as you mention and market caps being gamed (which they are prone to be since they are basically meaningless), it's not really worth the look any more.
1477  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 11, 2021, 03:20:42 AM
Of course, you could just buy the $200k worth of bitcoin now and wait; forego the mining, electricity cost and pain in the ass.

I didn't realize there was any requirement to interact with Greg Maxwell.
1478  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 11, 2021, 02:36:04 AM
One interesting thing to consider in the rise of the alts is that many smaller coins have been skating by on being too small to be worth attacking. Things could get interesting if someone decides to take a competitor down a peg or two. Doge and Litecoin are neck-and-neck on scrypt right now and I assume they are the two largest (?)
1479  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 11, 2021, 02:19:41 AM
one thing occurred to me..with all those people negging on the "use of energy"...it has to be that use of energy that might be important to put value into btc (and Saylor often talks about it).

If NOTHING was used, I have difficulty understanding the "true" value claimed to be created.
It becomes more like a ethereal game of sorts, but even gamers understand that their games consume quite a bit of energy.

There has to be some math behind the fact that you are typically using energy to create anything of value.
A connection between energy and information, perhaps?
Like here:
https://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/38368/how-is-there-a-connection-between-energy-and-information

That sounds a little like it's swinging towards the labor theory of value which has been completely debunked for a long time. Not that I think that's what you're aiming for but be careful.

The simple truth is that something of value is being provided and that justifies the energy used. Could it be done another way with less energy? Well, (ignoring that the block reward is still quite high which may actually be quite important), I would say no. The point is that you have to put something in to make sure you have skin in the game and to keep everyone honest. I really don't see proof of stake working out.

One thing I will put in is that the size of a block is independent from the power put into hashing it. So if one wanted to be eco friendly, it would not be hard to increase the transactions per Watt. I leave how to your imagination Smiley

That makes me think, was the Blockstream hit piece above created by big blockers? I'm no fan of Blockstream but don't think such tactics would very honorable. Plus it sets a bad precedent wrt the energy usage argument.

so they want you to pay them 3.448btc now ($200k)
to receive 2.73btc in 3 years

Hah, I'm sure something probably got lost in the translation. Though I definitely don't have a good opinion on Blockstream's math capabilities. This smells more to me like the VC money is running out.

My best friend in the 3rd grade got the strap 12 times on each hand (6 on the front, 6 on the back) for daydreaming during an arithmetic test. After that he limited his ADHD to after school.

School has ever more become an institution for babysitting and indoctrination. The outcome is hardly surprising. I was well-known as a daydreamer yet on subjects that took my interest, I was laser-focused and I got generally good grades. Though a lot of the time I was daydreaming, I was also taking in information too. You don't need to run a racecar at 15000 rpm when idling around the pits.
