1481  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: February 19, 2023, 05:25:51 PM
If bitcoin crash today, what will be your fate? Poor or rich. Most people on the platform have submitted all their life savings to bitcoin investment. There was once a man in my area who sold his house to invest in a local platform called BARAZAR in 4 months missive the so-called BARAZAR was shoot down and now he does not have a cottage. So I ask again if bitcoin crashed today what will be your description rich or poor?
Don't put all your eggs in one basket that is the only basic thumb rule when it comes to investment so if someone failed and went bankrupt because of one asset failed completely with their investment knowledge.

Never take risk money which is affordable to lose, for now I diversified my portfolio which importantly consists gold and real estate so if bitcoin fails and went to zero I won't be on the street but as far as my instincts says what you're saying its highly unlikely to happen.
1482  Other / Meta / Re: The curious case of sticky topics created by authors with negative Trust on: February 19, 2023, 10:34:32 AM
I get your point which you are talking how can a scammers's thread can serve as a guide to the newcomers but what if we think in different POV, no body knows how to scam someone better than a scammer then its rational to read their guides about how to avoid scams and what to do when someone got scammed, etc.

Apart from scam accusation threads DT score is irrelevant to the knowledge so we don't have to remove those pinned threads unless the data becomes obsolete.
1483  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin vs. Inflation on: February 18, 2023, 08:34:32 PM
So this proves when inflation goes down the price of Bitcoin will rise and ironically when it goes high the price even get higher unless the price of Bitcoin affected by other factors.

Bitcoin on the rise no matter what, one more valid proof to hold Bitcoins over fiat at whatever situation it is.
1484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tainted coins on: February 18, 2023, 06:16:16 PM
First of all no one can confiscate BTC unless its stored in centralized platforms.

Ironically buying Bitcoin from centralized exchange is safe compared to p2p because we receive funds from exchange's wallet so it won't be considered as tainted and exchange has the complete responsibility for all the outcomes.

Blacklisting an address is possible but it can't be possible to stop transactions whether its incoming or outgoing.

And finally are we sure that fiat money we are using everyday has any assurance that it never used for anything which goes against laws of a country?
1485  Economy / Economics / Re: The Return of the Barter Trade at Rural Communities in Nigeria on: February 18, 2023, 05:05:24 PM
The redesigned of the new Naira banknotes was announced late last year and the deadline to use the old naira notes was given on the 15/01/2023 and before then the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN plus the Federal Government in the country told the citizens that the newly resigned naira notes will be available for everyone to use before the deadline, though they said nobody can withdraw more #20,000 which equivalent to $43.43.

But reaching the deadline which made all the citizens to go and deposit all their old naira notes to their various banks for the fear of expiration but when the last date came CBN extended the deadline and banks refused to pay their customers the money that is in their bank accounts from inside the banks except from the ATM and that makes or form a very long queue on the AMT stands.

Many people died because of this and almost 60% of business collapsed. On the 13th of February 2023, in my locality (State Capital) all the banks closed down. Bank network is malfunctioning.

Survival of the fittest by Hobbes
The age group ( old people) can't queue on the ATM and also they are not conversant with cashless technology. So they have to resort to their old way of buying and selling method. That the exchange of goods to goods so that they can survive. Barter

Cash Crunch: Rural Dwellers Resort To Trade By Barter

It resembles with what happened in India when their government demonetised the money and issued completely new notes including higher denominations and I remember banks out of paper money due to unavailability but it was temporary and government managed to bring the liquidity back but they can't catch their growth like before.

But how it can be said we have to return to barter system? It doesn't work with current society structure and what will be the case of working class? Cause they are not producing anything so how they can get what is needed for their survival...
1486  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: February 17, 2023, 04:42:29 PM
First of all I am not accusing anyone, just pretending to be neutral and practical. Yes Roobet is really big site now it doesn't mean they can be perfect always, mistakes can happen however the important matter is how much efforts the customer support is making to resolve it and AFAIK Roobet doesn't have any such issues means they are practically making the users satisfied which gives growth in their graph.
Sometimes there can be misunderstandings and if you are right on your part with valid proofs against your claim then the team will solve the issues and there have been some instances where withdrawal was stuck but after all investigation it was released. The Roobet team is responsive and will not have any problems paying you off with your wins but it should be in legit manner.
Yes, that is what I am talking about and there are some other cryptocurrency casinos uses this AML policy to cheat winners by keep rejecting the documents whatever the customer supports which is shady and should be avoided at all cost whereas Roobet and few other casino's gives high priority for customer satisfaction so try to solve if there is any issues as soon as possible.
1487  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: February 17, 2023, 03:11:46 PM
Mostly why some member throw around accusation is because of the lack of patience and the willingness to read and understand the rules of the casinos, because a big casino like roobet will not want to ruined their reputation just because of a small amount or any amount at all.

So if anything goes wrong, the player should first check themselves before making any accusations.
They are expecting for a more faster support which I think its not possible for a bigger casinos because they are responding to a lot of concern so if you are going to raise some of your questions or problems, better to expect for a longer response time.

Roobet is a good site which I think most of the accusation are false, they are responsive as well though there’s a delay but as I’ve said its normal. Don’t panic and just wait patiently, if you didn’t violate any rules with the specific site, you can be good.

1488  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 17, 2023, 01:41:05 PM
I used to have a one riggit local food when I was in Malaysia which is close to $0.3 or something and its comes with chicken wings and steamed rice along with hot sauce, and tasted good so yeah if you visit Malaysia don't forget to try it. Wink

Well apart from food there are some other expenses also need to be considered and minimum wage so its pretty much depends on minimum wage and which country we are talking about.
1489  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: February 17, 2023, 12:39:21 PM
Maybe little off topic but I wanted to ask about this, can you access their website now cause I wanted to try it and see how it works and decided to bust some AI written post but the website is now and it says we are down and soon will be back so what is happening there is some upgradation going on or just due to lot of traffic the website can't be accessible by everyone?
1490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do you check feedbacks score of traders? on: February 16, 2023, 05:51:52 PM
I think it doesn't matter if their score is high or low as long as you know if they were shady and not following the rules set in exchange you can then change another trader. Also, there are confirmation that requires both sides to confirm if the trade is successful but if you are worried that you might get scammed, then don't buy/sell in bulk. I don't mind the tx fee as long as you have an assurance that you won't lose everything of your funds in one go. Although, I haven't tried to buy or sell in bulk though perhaps the tx fee will have a slight difference.
FYI, just one trade from the wrong person can result in all of your bank accounts in your country along with all the funds can be frozen so don't take it lightly when it comes to the feedback of p2p trading, and don't forget their recent feedback too cause p2p accounts can be hacked too so just make sure you are not getting into any trouble.
1491  Other / Meta / Re: Just being conscious on: February 16, 2023, 05:14:07 PM
Am I wondering, if we are talking about copying the same thread from the main board and posting it on a local board or talking about the same context about a country on the main board as well as on the local board by completely different persons?

Because both are different and translating a thread and posting it on a local board is allowed as per the rule but you need to seek permission from the original author and give proper credit to the contents is important.

whereas talking about something same content on multiple boards is very common for example is gambling is an addiction? Is there as a way to make money by gambling? can be interpreted in a million ways and posted as million threads by different users. Grin
1492  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] Temp lock Bitvest.io thread (prevent spam) on: February 15, 2023, 08:37:31 PM
Personally, I am against locking ANN because of spammers invading a thread even if Lightlord is active he will not have any control over the spam because it only can be moderated by mods since it's a normal thread.

But I know people keep talking about their signature campaign even it was stopped years back so should we have to punish the violator who is the spammer or the ANN?

My suggestion will be if anyone's post from that thread is deleted for spam reasons just temp ban them for a day or week then they will never invade that thread anymore!
1493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Extremely Holding on: February 15, 2023, 08:07:49 PM
Well, Satoshi still owns a million bitcoins and it has been sleeping there since the beginning so what we can say about that obsession with holding? Grin

We have to decide until when we are going to hold our crypto assets which varies from one to another depends on their needs and goals, for someone who is very rich and have lot of sources to make revenue then they can wait patiently when one of their asset is bleeding to death, so life is not same for everyone.

Well, we do not know if satoshi is even alive of not, but other than satoshi, there are number of wallets (of course we do not know whom wallets), that are holding bitcoin and never sell even at the top of bull market.

These are the two true holders and bitcoin reward the most to those who can hold it for the longest time period.
There is no doubt about it, more longer you hold then the reap will be higher but how long to hold is too much long just for the sake of asking and excluding the users who treats 1 btc = 1 btc no matter what.
1494  Economy / Reputation / Re: Stake.com (SteveStake) is encouraging spam. on: February 15, 2023, 05:55:19 PM
Problem with stake is they allowed negative trust user to join on their campaign if they changed their rules to make it more stricter to the user who got bad status in this forum maybe it could lessen the spam happening on this forum.

Maybe they need to change some of their rules so that they can fit in the taste of majority.
I don't understand what is the connection between Negative feedback and spam? Huh

Maybe you can see neutral feedback if they are making too many spam posts but giving negative for someone who posts spam is against the DT system and no one is doing so making any change in that rule won't make any change at all about the topic we are discussing here.

But looking at the spreadsheet not many users are making above 35 posts which is really manageable and can be high quality as well. The only con is giving extra bonus for posts made in gambling board may encourage users to posts more there even when they are not used to be.
1495  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What after localbitcoins.com shutting down on: February 15, 2023, 05:09:57 PM

In a centralized exchange the price of crypto is set by exchange itself, which is a monopolistic practice which is not in the case of p2p as people set their own margins for buying or selling, there is competetiveness..

2ndly for a crypto to be cashed out, either you choose to go centralized exchange or you use p2p exchange which provides an escrow service,
We see many scenarios where cex falls out of liquidity because they have to cash out funds for users, which is not the case in p2p as people trade among themselves..

A centralized exchange is just a platform like eBay where the seller and buyer set their own price and when it matches the trade will execute on an exchange whereas in p2p when someone posts a price and if you feel its okay then you will proceed further and that is the difference if you don't realize it in case.

Secondly, I can give thousands of examples of scams that happened in p2p which means the fiat sender gives false payment receipt and give some excuses for the trade to be released so the risk exists everywhere and not really exchange like Binance runs out of liquidity. Tongue
1496  Economy / Economics / Re: Untouchable Savings: Do you have it? on: February 14, 2023, 08:59:00 PM
Savings are supposed to be spent especially after our retirement so it really depends on what kind of financial backup we have in our family and ourselves to have such savings. I am not that old to think about it but I do save and I will spend it for sure whenever it is necessary for me to spend money. BTW don't let that paper to become waste so just convert it into something which gives returns forever.
1497  Other / Meta / Re: Is the post and preview shortcuts working on your PC? on: February 14, 2023, 08:20:55 PM
Why do i need to go through the shortcut when the normal button is even more faster and easier to use than the shortcut, imagine pressing the post or preview button at once than going through the stress of combining a functional key together with the alphabetic key to make a function, well some may prefer it but to me it's a load of stress compared to each other,
People who are used to be keyboard-centric prefer the keys over dragging the mouse for everything so it makes sense to have a short cut but I don't use it.

But I am wondering, what kind of stress you are going through for clicking two buttons instead of dragging and click one? Grin

I'd never thought as well such existed and don't think people use this post or preview function like the general button appearing.
It's there and always there have been so just keep attention next time while clicking post or preview where you can see the above short cut mentioned.
1498  Other / Meta / Re: What's AI Written Post? on: February 14, 2023, 05:34:31 PM
Direct answering to your question is plagiarism which is against forum rules and one who uses it to post on bitcointalk will be banned or at least the post will be removed for spam.

AI tool is nothing but a search engine for users who don't want to make any research but still need a solution, and many students are using it to cheat on their homework. Cheesy So it's basically useful for cheaters and its not really going to give any new information so the intention of using it to post is just to complete the quota and claim a reward for something they didn't work for.
1499  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What after localbitcoins.com shutting down on: February 14, 2023, 04:48:40 PM
I don't see why people wouldn't just go for the best option out there (Bisq), which is immune to being regulated out of existence given that it is software which is run locally and not a centralized entity.

I have been checking Bisq regularly and still no offers, let's see if really people are moving towards real p2p which is decentralized. Paxful seems a temporary replacement cause the only trade limit is 1000$ for no address verified accounts, reading about their customer support is poor as many said so if anyone really moving to beware of scammers and read the terms of their trade before initiating the trade.

About the platform shared by OP which I never heard about, has anyone really used it and if yes please share how was your experience.
1500  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What after localbitcoins.com shutting down on: February 12, 2023, 04:17:32 PM
Bisq is completely decentralized p2p but I never saw any trade was created there for my fiat currency.
What is your local currency, if you don't mind me asking? Is it supported and there is just no volume, or is it not supported at all? If it's a lack of volume, then you should feel free to create your own offers! Every market starts somewhere, and you might be able to earn yourself a couple of percentage points over the market rate since you are the only maker.

If it's not supported then you could open an issue on their GitHub (if there isn't one already) about getting it listed. Alternatively, can you swap your local currency to USD, EUR, or something else, and then trade with them instead?

With the closure of LocalCryptos and now LBC, there could well be a higher demand for Bisq to start supporting other currencies. People aren't going to want to move to a new exchange which might also close down in a few months, whereas by moving to Bisq, there is very little chance of that happening due to its decentralized nature.

For privacy reason I can't expose my nativity but its supported and I can list the offer there if I want and I will give it a try in the next week and let's see with the suspension of trading from LBC can bring p2p traders to Bisq.

I have been contacted by few of my clients who I am regularly trading via LBC for years and I am yet to reply which platform I am going to choose and their reply is Paxful where liquidity for my fiat is high but many new accounts with attractive prices like 10 to 15% over market price is listed there and from my assumption they can bring issues sooner or later cause we have chance of receiving funds from hacked bank account so anyone switching to Paxful beware of this issue and pick trader with long trading history and high positive feedbacks.
