1061  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We the Bitcoin Enthusiasts, How can we Safequard our Holdings in Turbulent Times on: June 17, 2023, 03:14:48 PM
How might the closure of a prominent cryptocurrency exchange like Binance affect investors confidence in the broader crypto market, and what steps do you think enthusiasts can take to safeguard their investments in such situations? Please share tips.

I'm thinking about closing my key positions for the time being.
If Binance closed today we may see a huge drop on prices of all cryptocurrencies like 30 to 50% and it will take a while to realise what happened around the market and the trend get steady. Then everything will start to recover so end of an exchange or business related to cryptocurrency is not going to end the future of cryptocurrencies.

When such things happens just move any balance left in the exchange to wallet ASAP, and wait for the things to settle down and if you can then buy at that phase which will bring you great returns later.
1062  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The reason of why Bitcoin is good for trading (for me) on: June 16, 2023, 06:59:06 PM
First of all I'm not a real trader, but I like to trade to earn small amount profit.

I only use BTC/USDT pair because USDT make me easier to determine how much my coins worth after trade and most liquid stable coin, the reason why I choose BTC is I don't need to worry about it when my trading goes wrong. So if I bought Bitcoin at the peak and the price keep decreasing, I will not sell it, but I will wait for the next super cycle where Bitcoin usually break new ATH.

Keep in mind I never learn about chart, candlestick, trend etc, all of my decision come from my mood and instinct. No stop limit, no follow any signal, no watching my PC for 24/7, etc, just directly buying and selling.

Is there anyone like me here? Cheesy

I will likely say you are  into holding not trading cause for trading they are more of decision making you must follow signals to read what the trade market is said that period you can not just predict charts you will have to all way keep an eye for loss signals and always keep an eye on your candlestick that is the movement of price without the candlestick the display of the high, low, open and closing of a prices of a security without this it will not be able to display and also for trading, signal are much used without
them you can not called them trading

Trading entails making active judgments based on signals, market research, and constant monitoring. When paired with other technical indicators, candlestick analysis assists traders in making better educated decisions. Trading signals provide particular entry and exit locations for traders. Without dependable trading signals, making decisions becomes difficult, and trading may lack a systematic approach.
What you said maybe the definition of trading or something but it doesn't necessarily have to follow all these to be a trader, like OP's strategy which is the most successful trading strategy buy and wait for the profitable days to come which can be very long term trading or can be called as investing but at the end its about making money not about who can say what is the actual definition. 1063  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Please Explain This Bitcoin Trade on: June 16, 2023, 05:55:31 PM

Why did it immediately close and how do I prevent it from happening?
Because you chose that kind of trade so it executed immediately. You can see the types of orders in the coinbase article section as well as how to change it so to sell or buy at your desired price then you need to choose the limit order and set the minimum price for the order to get confirmed.

It may take a while to get familiar with these things but eventually you will get to know everything if you keen on noticing everything while doing trades and do more research about it.
1064  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: June 16, 2023, 04:26:49 PM
I don't know how accurate the article is but I consider everyone as an individual when it comes to gambling. I remember girls playing poker while guys prefer slots and roulette but that's what I witnessed and I cannot conclude anything about the most people doing it in the way.

But I can answer why the percentage of men and women participation in Gambling is vastly different because the psychology of women is like don't take risk and they like to be conservative while men like to take any risk it doesn't mean one gender is over other.
1065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Pros vs. Cons on Android for Bitcoin on: June 16, 2023, 03:29:29 PM

Electrum is my only choice but I faced bugs lots of time like the app keep closing on its own but with the latest version I haven't noticed any bugs.
For several years using Electrum I have never found a bug, especially in the latest update at this time.
Electrum runs well and never closes itself. it may be because your memory is full or it is not compatible with your Android phone version.

I was using Android 13 at that time and most latest version of electrum available on the Play Store and had more than 100GB free space so definitely its not an issue with the system in my opinion but this is about months ago after the recent update I am not facing the force stopping bug which is good but the inaccurate while calculating the transaction fee still exists.
1066  Economy / Economics / Re: Retirement Age for Workers - Does this Make Sense? on: June 15, 2023, 07:10:02 PM
It makes sense though in many way like if you don't retire after reaching certain age then how is it possible for the upcoming generation to get a job? First of all the concept of permanent job should not be exists anymore because that is where most low efficiency of a job comes from, if the job based on their performance then who is giving the results will stay and others shouldn't which is hard I know but if we have such system I bet we will have different world than now.
1067  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Post your local news outlet, exchange, marketplace that support Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 03:52:32 PM
Since the beginning I am using the exchanges which allows users from all over the world even though there are some few exchanges available from my country but due to less volume I always chose the reputed ones. It's good to know that exchanges from Philippines doing great but crypto has no borders and marketplace, news outlets, are just business around crypto community so don't let them use your patriotism for their financial benefits. 1068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 11:28:25 AM
I've seen several threads where people preach teaching bitcoin to kids and I've also seen threads where others talked about having  some savings(investments) in bitcoin  for their kids which is right.

Just as my topic reads, we should stop stressing  kids with wanting them do things we didn't meet up doing and at some points getting them mentally stressed.

Please don't get me wrong because I'm typically  not against teaching  or maybe introducing bitcoin  to your kids but I'm  on the opinion  that rather than bother them with this complicated digital asset (bitcoin) knowing fully well that no matter how much knowledge  we have about it, if we don't have the money to buy, then we'll  certainly  miss out, and judging from this, I don't think it's wise teaching them or wanting to force it on them when we know that they can't afford it.

I will suggest that, rather than bore them with the history of bitcoin,  why not get a portfolio for them and keep investing in it and watch it grow with them and when they're of age, then you can practically  show them the needful.

I want to know if there are people who also share same opinion with me and please lets just discuss rather than argue
If you want your kid to have better financial life than you then teach then everything you know as soon as possible because more younger you are then they have longer runway so they can become the most richest person if they do everything right.

But it shouldn't be specific about Bitcoin, teaching about the money in the young stage is important but many parents think same as you and let them to lead an average life, running behind the pay cheks every month, have to work until retirement to get a small house, etc.
1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interested in investing in Bitcoin my childhood friend after losing business on: June 15, 2023, 08:16:06 AM
Just like any other investments bitcoin also comes with the risk and you mentioned that you have been involved in cryptocurrency related things then probably you already know that so all you need to do is tell about the risk factors and benefits of long term holding and let him decide what is best for him.

Investing in bitcoin when you are not financially stable is like double edged sword so one who take the risk also need to face the consequences but if he can hold the bitcoin for more than 4 years then he won't regret about investing in Bitcoin.
1070  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Bitcoin an exceptional figure among other coins on: June 14, 2023, 08:10:27 PM
Bitcoin and bitcointalk are different from others because Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency is the most decentralized cryptocurrency and also since 2009 till date Bitcoin has not been under any control be it by individuals or governments thereby making Bitcoin a free market for all.
Also, bitcointalk is the most resourceful forum among all the other cryptocurrency forums and this peculiarity and success is ascribed to the forum association with bitcoin which also is the most successful coin among other cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin will never been under control and in the future as well.

But it affected by many other factors, highly manipulated but still strong enough to survive all these and standing out from all those clones created after bitcoin with different name, etc.

Bitcointalk is a community where we can see discussion about lot other things apart from bitcoin and don't forget we have altcoin boards as well so this community played a huge role for all those years and hope it will continue as same.
1071  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 14, 2023, 07:28:13 PM
I have been debating about it with couple of my colleagues whether stay on rent or buy a property.

Let's assume, you are well capable enough to buy a new property through bank loan. Your income supports the mortgage payment so banks are willing to lend you money.

What will be the best route to take? Buy the property or stay in a rented place?

The usual appreciation rate of your property value is around 10% owing to the development work that are ongoing. For rented property, your rent increases by 15% every year.

What's the better option for you and why?
As of now I will say rent is the best choice because due to the increase of Fed's interest rate the loan interest rates are increased by the banks as well so even if the increase is by 0.25% the loan tenure may increase 3 to 5 years.

Also we can't sure about the appreciation of that asset will be 10% for the coming years as well due to the internet boom and high unemployment rate so we are at the worse economic state all around the world.

Don't buy a property unless you can generate revenue from it for example commerical real estate is good.
1072  Other / Meta / Re: Offensive words on the forum on: June 14, 2023, 05:11:03 PM
Bitcointalk is a place where you can have the actual freedom of speech so the words which you feel offensive can be just a common words to say for someone else, and if you feel like someone is keep doing that often then just put then on ignore so you won't see the posts made by them anymore.

Its very common that we can see hate speech against two on the internet platforms so bitcointalk is not an exception but forum rules says no trolling and death threats allowed and if you see them then don't hesitate to click report to moderator button and let the mods take care of it.
1073  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Majority of investors are quitting, what are you doing? on: June 14, 2023, 03:57:57 PM

So this is not going to be an end of cryptocurrency so one who thinks in that way are going to be the losers.

I see from implementation audits Regulatory and controlling parties (SEC) oversight actions can impact the cryptocurrency market and that makes sense. However, some argue that increased regulation can provide stability and legitimacy, others argue that regulation or pressure that is too tight can stifle innovation and stifle investment. ultimately Environmental regulations remain a key factor that can affect the future of cryptocurrencies.
Regulations can't provide security from scams as well so it's just something that for the people to get courage that is recognised by the government so we can invest so there will be no legal consequences. If regulations helps the adoption rate then it should be neutral, for example some government doesn't even have specific policies related to digital assets but they charge unfair tax rates from the cryptocurrency gains which isn't going to help in any way.
1074  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 13, 2023, 07:18:12 PM
Those same people who says " Money can't buy you happiness" is running to make money for their entire life.

Gambling isn't a bad thing but it's addictive like many others so ancestors attached it with religious beliefs then people won't do it but now we are developed and evolved also have the knowledge of what is good and bad for us so if you can handle it then you can do anything you want.
1075  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Majority of investors are quitting, what are you doing? on: June 13, 2023, 05:12:09 PM
Its isn't a new thing, most of the time we can see people are selling when price is falling but the real whales are behind all the purchases and they consider it as big discounts. I don't think that searches about crypto can be considered as a data related to quitting but we can see the matter of SEC and Binance affected the price a bit which is again not really a new thing happens.

So this is not going to be an end of cryptocurrency so one who thinks in that way are going to be the losers.
1076  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best board to focus on as a newbie in the forum? on: June 13, 2023, 03:48:43 PM
It depends on what you you want to learn whether it's about Bitcoin? Then you have bitcoin discussion, Technical development, beginners and Help section.

Or if you're interested in gambling then Gambling board is the place where you need to concentrate.

Or don't restrict yourself to any particular boards, you can explore each and every board when you have something to say then don't hesitate to reply.
1077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges on: June 13, 2023, 02:57:29 PM
Hey, everyone   Smiley
I have recently started to be interested in the issue of cryptocurrency, please, tell me which exchanges are considered the safest and most convenient?
No cryptocurrency exchange is safe (for holding purpose), while talking about the convenience it depends on the coin you're going to trade so you need to look at the volume, trading fees and withdrawal fees.

For now Binance is the best choice for trading purpose cause its better in all the aspects which I mentioned above but recently Binance has been sued by SEC so it can turn out to be another FTX.
1078  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase Wallet not showing all my BTC on: June 11, 2023, 07:18:51 PM
I started using Coinbase Wallet and have sent two transfers of Bitcoin into it.  They both show up under transactions but only one in the total amount.  Therefore it says I can only send this amount from the wallet and not the total of the two transfers.  Anyone got any ideas as struggling to get info. from support?

I'm really worried about my $BTC and why I can't access it all.
It means your transaction is yet to be confirmed that is why it's not added to the total balance but you can check the transaction status by clicking on the transaction itself if I am not wrong. You can spend once the transaction reached 6 confirmation.

I recommend you to use non custodial wallet for further BTC storage because coinbase wallet is web wallet and doesn't share the private keys with you so you can't access the funds without their permission.
1079  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: P2P Scams : Where does the government stand on: June 11, 2023, 05:03:02 PM
These days there are a lot of P2P scams on Binance and other platforms. The P2P platforms are not be blamed but the scammers are coming up with new ways to scam people who are new to the crypto world.

Recently Binance did a P2P scam awareness session with our local community which was very informative.

The recording can be watched here   https://www.binance.com/en/live/video?roomId=2138115

Now my question is that in my country, crypto is not legalized, so in case if anyone is scammed through P2P, we can't take up this matter in the legal court because the country does not recognize the transactions of crypto in the first place.

Does this gives a free hand to scammers as they know that they cannot be punished by a court of law  Huh
Crypto isn't legalized is different from crypto is banned so in the case you're talking still you can take it to legal proceedings if you're scammed while doing cryptocurrency trading and the existing law related to scam through online will still applies.

But how the giant exchanges with intensive KYC procedure for verification still missing the scammers and the platform can give complete information about the scammer if you take it to legal and authority seeks for them.
1080  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Reminder] hey bitcoiners, Did you forget to read the updates on terms&policies? on: June 10, 2023, 08:13:04 PM
I never going to skip their updates regarding policy because it involves money so I always pay attention to the changes they have made and most exchanges will give you pop up that you have to agree to new policies to continue using their services and that's the only time I will look into their terms or if I have any doubt in my mind will go into ToS or FAQs to clear it.

But most people just click ok and move on but the consequences will be felt much later when exchange freeze account for violating the terms and starts blaming the exchange.
