1041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.7 billion people are still Unbanked; chances for bitcoin on: June 24, 2023, 06:25:50 PM
To be honest without bank account you can't even buy your bitcoin now for example if you have $100 worth of fiat in your hand and imagine the options of buying bitcoin without owning a bank account, it's kind of close to impossible job unless you can find someone in personal and exchange the cash when they sent BTC to your address.

Then how about spending the Bitcoin without converting it into fiat, gift cards just spent as BTC for exchange of goods the chances are too low as well so as of now people in the rural areas who doesn't have a bank account are not going to be the users of Bitcoin.
1042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin retirement plan with a disturbing length of years. on: June 24, 2023, 04:44:36 PM
I have this colleague of mine at workplace who is a bitcoin enthusiast just like me. Often times at work when we're less occupied with our job we kind of spend such moment's  discussing about bitcoin generally. Two days ago he was telling me about his plans to start buying BTC with 20% of his salary every month for the rest of the years he has to retirement that's when he will then take it all. And based on the company total years of service he has 16 years left to his retirement.

I don't doubt the existence of Bitcoin in the next 16 years but if that 20% is the amount that he planned to use as retirement fund then I would suggest the diversification of that 20% among different assets and if he is not that much then atleast into gold so he may have something to not worry if Bitcoin is not expected grown. Or as you said taking out the profits after every cycle and invest them on other assets also good idea so it all comes down to our financial management skills.
1043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: June 23, 2023, 07:09:01 PM
People who bet on lottery don't really have anything other than their pure superstition or instinct or we simply call it as luck and as we all know if someone win that it's going to be a life changing amount for them even half of the amount nearly cut for taxes in most parts of the world.

Lottery bettors sre so addictive and since the bet amount is tiny it won't cause them financial danger unless they get psyched and do something to outsmart the system.
1044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 Reasons Why You Should Run Your Own Bitcoin Full Node on: June 23, 2023, 06:11:05 PM
It's not really necessary, imagine telling a newbie to download the Bitcoin core and sync the entire blockchain data which needs super fast internet connection, decent spec device and lots of storage which seems why I need to do this to buy or sell $100 worth of BTC? It will be too complicated for them and may be a con for the Bitcoin itself if we expect everyone to run their own full node.
I believe the target of the article is someone already familiar with the Bitcoin network to some extent (OP mentions privacy, etc). It would be counterproductive to recommend it to someone new, who only wants to use Bitcoin to pay something once in a while. I don't think OP expect people to recommend newbies as their first step in their crypto journey either.
I am not sure that he meant only for experienced because it's seems the title of topic says your which denotes everyone IMO.

I am a trader and long term holder so in that case why should I have to run the full node, I simply prefer the light weight wallet for activities related to trading and hardware or paper wallet is more safe when we are talking about hacks.
1045  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Teacher and Classmates Labeling Bitcoin as a Ponzi Scheme or a Scam on: June 23, 2023, 04:42:41 PM
Story time  Grin.

Recently, he expressed his frustration about his teacher and classmates labeling bitcoin as a ponzi scheme or a scam each time he talks about it. I'm seeking a variety of advice that I can offer to my nephew in this situation. Although his father suggested that he should stop discussing bitcoin, I don't feel comfortable with that approach. What are your thoughts on this matter?
Here teacher has no knowledge about Bitcoin and blockchain which is probably the reason for such discussions so if you have any opportunity to meet the teacher then it's better explain to him what is Bitcoin.

About your nephew he is 15 and old enough to understand things on his own so better teach him about what is blockchain as first before explaining about Bitcoin then he will understand who is wrong.

1046  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Better to have a trading knowledge than depending on signals. on: June 23, 2023, 03:12:32 PM

As a trader that relies on buying signals, how confident are you about the continuous availability of those signals. Would they always be accurate and dependable?  Heavily depending on signals is parallel to same thing as someone else trading for you with your money. How ironical!
.
Paid signals are nothing but manipulation and scam so never rely on that even if someone offers the service for free cause it's impossible for anyone to predict the future and anyone will common sense can get that. Instead of buying signals paying attention to enhance our trading skills like analysis, finding the right strategy, looking for price difference on exchanges, etc can make some actual money for yourself.
1047  Other / Meta / Re: fillippone merited thread need more support of merit source. on: June 22, 2023, 08:21:42 PM

but the problem is that all this thread listed are the major places people submit their profiles for merit, its good for a merit sources to support any thread that is created for rank up and unmerited posts.

First of all, I don't think any merit source will encourage a thread or post created by someone with the intention that they will get merits and rank up cause this is a forum and it will be alive as long as we keep it simple and practical not something like office you will get more oay when you work hard.

I don't blame you if you're intention is to encourage members who supposed to received more merits than they are but the solution is already there [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source, so if you find anything that deserves merits then just post it there and if you still feel they aren't then why don't you apply to become a merit source.
1048  Other / Meta / Re: Easiest way I can remove Wasabi recommendations from all of my past posts? on: June 22, 2023, 06:52:46 PM
Check this one[1] from ninjastic.space of tryninja, access the post link and manually delete them as i don't know if there is a bot of deleting multiple posts. You can edit the content to search on that page then.

[1] https://ninjastic.space/search?author=20kevin20&content=Wasabi
As per the results of this search OP made 27 posts which contains the word Wasabi in it so it's not going to take that long to edit the 26 of them.

But here is the catch if someone who quoted those posts already then it's going to be there unless the person edit that so I suggest do take things too deep just let the users to gain the information on their own.
1049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on The Island of Bali, Indonesia on: June 22, 2023, 05:05:06 PM
Again, this isn't Bali's fault nor the governor's. The legal order against the use of Bitcoin as a currency is, of course, coming from the national government. The local leaders will have no choice but to implement it even if they're against it.

At the end of the day, visitors will have to toe the line because they are in a different country with a different set of laws, customs, and culture. After all, they're probably not visiting Bali because of Bitcoin.

Leaders change. Perspectives change. Sooner or later, the whole of Indonesia will embrace the new currency.
Visitors are here for exploration only so it's not going to be a loss for them but for locals it will be beneficial if government makes the tourism more conveniently so it will encourage more people to visit there.

We can take Dubai as an best example and how much efforts they are taking to keep the tourism at it's best since they understand oil resource will not last long and their main source of income will be from tourism so government as well as people are happy there cause of different approach.
1050  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting Some Merit really boosted my motivation on: June 21, 2023, 06:00:22 PM
This may seem trivial to those who already rank high in the forums. but it really means a lot to beginners. Gaining Some Merits actually can revive dormant Motivation. But still I also realize that just motivation is not enough. but also must be accompanied by an increase in insight. with more diligent reading and so on.
Other beginners must also feel this way, right? I doubt if only I feel this pleasure.
Not just for newbies, it's really a good thing to earn for anyone but being obsessed with getting merits is different and I hope you won't chase behind the merits just focus on gaining knowledge from the forum members. Newbies or legendary everyone has same rules so don't put yourself under pressure which may deviate you from what you are supposed to be.
1051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on The Island of Bali, Indonesia on: June 21, 2023, 03:54:30 PM
If I were to visit Bali, it would be because it has a lot of wonderful things to offer. I'm referring to the beaches, the temples, and other natural and man-made wonders. It wouldn't be because it accepts Bitcoin. So I guess I wouldn't mind if the province isn't Bitcoin friendly.

But supposing Indonesia accepts Bitcoin as payment, what can a lowly governor do? He will have no other choice but to abide with the law. It's just unfortunate that the country doesn't accept Bitcoin as a currency. What's even more unfortunate was its declaration as haram by the country's Islamic council.
If they have such leaders then the governments will never grow up to their potential, Bali is an wonderful place and there are many foreigners come there to explore the place especially from Europe so accepting crypto currency is actually going to be beneficial for them right but instead they are doing opposite and advising not to use it so who is going to lose, which economy is going down if they are not giving space for what the people are there for.

Let's decide what is their choice depends on their needs and for most users light weight wallets which is non custodial and open source is enough.
1053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A discussion On Too Much Gambling Addiction Topic on: June 20, 2023, 06:19:41 PM
First of all if Google is giving bitcointalk threads as results in their first page for such a vague keywords about Gambling is actually good for the bitcointalk traffic.

But in someway these kind of threads are against the forum rules under spamming and no duplication of threads cause more or less all the topics portrays the same thing but the moderation can't be that much strict either or else there will be no topics to discuss at all so it's in the hands of mods and what we can do is report to mods if we feel the thread should be locked or not supposed to be here with appropriate reason.
1054  Other / Meta / Re: Why do you browse the forum without notification? on: June 20, 2023, 05:04:41 PM
I don't remember there is any bots which notifies mentions or someone quoting your post when I registered here and not the merit system either for a while. So I remember going through all the pages to see how the discussion is going and it was good old days though. Then multiple bots came which made the life easier still it's easier to find out someone who simply post for meeting their weekly quota or engaging in actual discussions.

I am one who didn't try to chase merit and lick someone to get the thing, I am just trying to be me and you know I haven't met that high ranks like other members, no offence about anyone with due respect just talking about myself.
1055  Other / Meta / Re: My password was changed on this forum on: June 20, 2023, 02:42:22 PM
Which among the below was not done by you

According to Bpip your password was changed 3 times since registration which the last one was done today using your email address.

If your are worried of security, then try checking your login device who have access to it, increase your security measures, and don't save your login in browsers. If this was actually a hack attempt you might not be lucky next time to use your email and reset the password because it will be removed and change completely.

I changed today few minutes before making this post as I was not able to login. I am sure that I did not change password since long time before this. I remember changing it once more few years back and that time also someone guessed , changed my password and made 1-2 unwanted posts from this profile.
What was the error you saw when you entered the password, incorrect or any other?

As everyone says no trace of password change and I doubt any hack attempt made because if they do they usually don't let you to have the old email which can be used to reset the password anytime when you want.

I think you have been using the forum in always logged in, but remember when you logout the account from one device it logout from every device where the account is currently logged in, so don't forget to manage your passwords wisely.
1056  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How being open to ideas and comments help you learn? on: June 20, 2023, 01:03:57 PM
Maybe it's their attitude which will eventually change only if they learn the lesson in bitter way.

Bitcointalk is a place where people from all around the world connects and there is absolute freedom of speech gave to every members so it may take some time for new member to adapt to the environment. Who listens more gathers more information than who become dump when someone correct their mistake the benefits can be felt later when they face situation in reality.
1057  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: June 18, 2023, 05:40:46 PM
So there is ongoing giveaway from Roobet on Twitter in which you have to guess the number to get prize of $50 and still nobody has guessed it so be fast as it's already 2 days so maybe any one of us get the exact number what Mr Roo might be thinking
I observed that Roobet does regular giveaways on Twitter which is great and all, but it would be great if they offered similar giveaways within this forum itself by focusing a little less on art contests.

This would attract gamblers who are and aren't interested in art towards their site which is a win-win basically.
I think you are mentioning about something in games and rounds section which maybe good but there is nothing wrong with the arts contest and because the site can afford such amount for the marketing cause this year the arts contests are more often than previous if I am not wrong so the contest is beneficial to the site in some way.

But you got a point though, it will be even more effective if some contests really based on gambling so more users can connect to it but so far the marketing team is doing good and they will keep coming with new ideas.
1058  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suggestion on: June 18, 2023, 03:23:49 PM
They were concerned that if the internet were to go down today I would lose all my investments.?
They also asked why the currency of cryptocurrencies is valued so highly.?
I thought why not discuss this with my senior. I would like to hear their opinion on this matter.
First of all, the possibility of internet go down completely is zero and if that happens not only crypto the whole world will turn into chaos since most of the running system is based on the internet.

Crypto currency value is based on its demand and supply, if BTC is around 25K then people are ready to buy at that price and that's the simple reason.
1059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does ranking not guarantee post quality? on: June 17, 2023, 07:09:00 PM
There is no one who knows everything in this world but I agree with you on some non sense discussions which has no value and most of them don't know why they are getting into it because it has been already discussed many times in the same thread itself.

Receiving merits is a sign that someone is getting notified by other members of bitcointalk but it doesn't mean all others are just stupid and exists here for no reason. Everyone is trying to learn something and trying to contribute in a way they can and FYI not every great post received merit and all the posts received merits are great.
1060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Lender Abra Has Been Insolvent for Months on: June 17, 2023, 04:44:35 PM
snip~

Again, probably a little too late to remind for a thousand times the thing about not your keys not your coins and to stop chasing huge returns trying to get rich doing nothing. The only thing I'm actually curious about is if we will have any of those "earning and earning" platforms alive by the end of the year!
The same things can happen again and again because people will never learn anything until they took their greed out when it comes to investments. 10% isn't that much return, to be honest, and not really worth the risk which is 100%.

Simply holding the BTC in their wallet will give away huge returns if they go through the bull season so all they need to do is to buy and wait for the bull trend and then sell to make profits.
