You are talking about the premier league table? I do not see that will be a big problem coz we already had 29 rounds out of 38 which means more than 2/3 matches were played. Most of all, the season winner is Liverpool of course.

You do realise I'm not the chairman of the FA?  Grin

I received an email from Superbru, you probably all got it. I see no reason why we not to adhere to them, we have enough points for that.

That's easy for you to say, Mr Fourth Place  Grin. I do agree with you though. If the league is cancelled we'll just go with the current standings. I'm joint fifth but technically sixth on the table. I wonder how they work out the ties, because I have 123 exact results and hahay has only 99, but he has more "close" results at 109.5 to my 85.5, but surely exact results should count for more. We both have the exact same number of results and also slam points as well so not sure how that works out. Does anyone know if there's an explanation of it anywhere?

I'm really hoping this whole coronabullshit blows over and the games just get rescheduled. Imagine if they null and void the entire leagues and Liverpool lose out on the title and teams like Leeds don't get promoted. What a pisstake.

I think we are heading towards stopping all major sports leagues in Europe for few months. <...>
Totally.

Now my question is: if the PL is suspended indefinitely in the upcoming days, what will happen to our pool?

I really doubt they will cancel the season altogether. The worst that will likely happen is they'll just reschedule the games. Personally I think it's overkill. They could play games behind closed doors but unless everyone in the country is going to stay at home then the disease is still going to spread and it'll end up doing ridiculous damage to the economy as it already has to bitcoin and the stock market. It's probably not much more of a threat than the flu to a fit and young professional athlete anyway. If they do cancel the season though the best thing to do would just be to pay out the winners as the table is now.

So all Premier League games have been suspended until April:

Quote
Following a meeting of Shareholders today, it was unanimously decided to suspend the Premier League with the intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: "Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.

"In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority."

Despite the challenges, it is the Premier League's aim to reschedule the displaced fixtures, including those played by Academy sides, when it is safe to do so.

In this fast-moving environment, further updates will be provided when appropriate.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2020/03/13/sport-coronavirus-live-premier-league-suspended-efl-rugby-latest/

What a bummer. Personally this seems like overkill and the coronovirus isn't going to go away anytime soon, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. The UFC is also going to be having their games behind closed doors (but they'll still be televised).

It's very likley that tomorrow (or saturday morning) the FA will release an statement about the PL getting postponed. There's a lot of money involved in the PL so i'm sure some top dogs won't be happy about their decision. Btw, imagine if the FA decides to void this season  Roll Eyes

The games will just be rescheduled so the money will still be coming in, just delayed. Teams might lose a lot in ticket revenues if they decide to play in empty stadiums though.

Real shame about Liverpool going out. I thought they were by far the better team in the 90 minutes and when Athletico got the goal in injury time my heart sank and I'm not even a Liverpool fan, but then it was disallowed anyway for offside. Once Firmino got the goal in Extra Time I thought that was it but Liverpool just went to sleep and Madrid capitalised on that. Even though Liverpool are almost certainly going to win the league I can't help but feel they could have won so much more and gone down in the history books with a lot of trophies and records broken but I fear they might not break the points record in the Premier League now as I can see them losing a bit of their fight and dropping more points (but not enough to through away the title.

I wanted to ask if there is any guide on how to buy bitcoin.
Sorry for bad english

Well it's fairly simple, but it would help if you can tell us what country you're in so you can get better information, but you're best off making a thread in Beginners & Help: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0

I'm surprised the CL games haven't been called off because of the coronavirus but I think people are being overly-dramatic or at least overly cautious about it. I'm wondering if any of the players will be wearing masks whilst playing?  Grin

Gone for both home wins for the games tonight but I think they're both going to be tough. Really hoping Liverpool can get through. If they concede a goal though it's going to be very tough for them.

Haven’t done my pick yet - anyone know if Vardy is playing ?

Man, I thought Vardy was going to be sidelined, wtf? I needed Maddison to score today so i could win a 5mbtc free bet Sad had i known Vardy was going to play, i woulda picked him in the majestic7..i'm so bummed out.

I had 2-0 down but then saw Vardy wasn't in the starting line-up so changed it to 1-0. Don't suppose it matters for me as I still got the points for the win any way as did everyone else apart from elw_er_1.

Don't forget the City/Arsenal game tomorrow. 10 players still not made a pick yet.

Can't believe how close it as as the top. No idea how I crept up so far into joint 5th Tokeweed is quite far ahead in first place on 282 but there's only 5 point between sixth and second places.
1488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's UEFA Champions League Football Preditor Pool Discussion thread on: March 09, 2020, 10:05:43 AM
Don't forget the reverse fixtures start tomorrow. Can't say I'm bothered about any of the Tuesday games and think they'll be largely dull. I have gone for both 1-0 home wins but the Wednesday matches should be good ones. Liverpool will be feeling the heat and it's going to be vital that they don't concede and give Madrid an away goal. I think they should win at home but it'll be narrow. Probably go for 1-0 but hopefully they can get the job done and get a 2-0 or more to go through without the need for extra time and/or penalties.
1489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 09, 2020, 09:57:08 AM
Anfield was eerily silent after that first Bournemouth goal. Luckily they kept their composure and got the job done in the end. Surprised United won yesterday. They're such a mediocre team right now. Originally had 1-2 down but changed it to 2-2 a few mins before kick off after I saw the line-ups and City had a few players out.

Don't forget that Leicester City are playing Aston Villa tonight. Quite a few players haven't done their picks for that one.
1490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 04, 2020, 12:05:32 PM
Liverpool fans need to calm down, they’ll win the title easily. One loss changes nothing, if you guys were offered to be in this position at the start of the season you would have thought it was a dream.

I haven't seen any fans crying or worried, but it will be very interesting if they happen to lose their next game in the PL and then the CL. Obviously Athletico will be much harder than Bournemouth but they're both at home. I actually expect them to win both but the CL game could be dicey. It would have to be the greatest fuck up of all time for them to throw the PL away right now though. I think they would have to lose seven out of their last ten games and that's assuming City win all theirs (though City do have a game in hand).
1491  Other / Meta / Re: Request: add deleted msgID in modlog on: March 02, 2020, 10:55:33 AM
Yeah. I'd also like to see a link to the thread that the post was removed from included in the PM. Sometimes you have no idea or it's hard to find/work out where it was deleted from.

Once again, this reduces the feedback mechanisms for users, leaving them with EVEN LESS of a clue what they did wrong in order to modify their behavior to comply.

I would still also like the option for Staff to give a reason for deletion that's included in the PM. I think this will solve a lot of confusion and animosity between users against staff. There's an awful lot of people reporting their deleted post PM asking why it was removed or commanding that it wasn't off topic which is seemingly what most people assume it was for as they don't read the message properly.
1492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III on: March 02, 2020, 10:50:40 AM
Personally I think Wilder will be beaten again by being knocked out or by TKO but it will not go to a points decision. In my opinion Fury will out box and out class Wilder again.

I'm not so sure. I think this one will be a lot closer like the first. I don't think Wilder will make the same mistakes again and his corner certainly wont be throwing in the towel, but my only hope is that it's not a boring fight which it will be if Wilder is worried and stand-offish. I just hope he just comes out guns blazing this time like Fury did. I think he will have to if he wants to win the belt back as playing it safe isn't an option. He really needs to go for a KO this time and hope he can sleep Fury like he almost did in the first.

When do this fight is expected to happen as you mentioned in the subject "Fury vs Wilder III" ?
As per the details Wilder have only shown hi interest for another match with fury and calling it a war to create the hype and attention. If you know any details of the third match between them, do let us know.

It will likely be in June or July. They'll be trying to get the venue booked before they announce anything.

Edit: It's just been announced for July 18th in Las Vegas at the MGM grand.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/tyson-fury-vs-deontay-wilder-21613747

Joshua is fighting Pulev on June the 20th so that could mean the winner of Fury/Wilder could happen before the end of the year: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/boxing/10726941/fury-wilder-live-result-reaction-updates-joshua-haye-whyte/

Deontay Wilder intends to invoke the re-match clause to fight Tyson Fury again....
Really bad idea by Deontay Wilder and it looks like his ego will crush his career rather than looking for other challenges he is really finding it hard to accept the defeat.

Why is it a bad idea? It's the best possible thing he can do for his career right now win or lose. He'd be stupid to turn down the option of a contractual obligated fight where he gets to win his belt back. This is the best option he has right now and fighting lesser fighters is pointless. Less cash and no belt. If he loses then he'll move on to fighting those but if he wins then he'll likely go for the big blockbuster fights and it will likely be the winner of the Joshua/Pulev fight unless Tyson also has a rematch clause.

So what are the odds that Liverpool will lose their next game against Bournemouth?  Cheesy Can you imagine the panic if Liverpool lost again? It's at Anfield so I'm sure they'll be alright but fans will be very worried if they concede first or Bournemouth get an early goal or Liverpool just start out very sluggish. Imagine a 0-0 at half time or something. I'll be watching that game for sure. Pretty much been watching every Liverpool game for the past couple of months though.

Another one to watch on Sunday is the Manchester derby. Had one to call as it's at Old Trafford. Tempted to go for a Citeh win but might go for the draw.

What did everyone think of the late disallowed Everton goal? Not sure how it was offside really. Ancelotti wasn't please. He got sent off after the match.
1494  Other / Meta / Re: What if scammers target boards where flags & feedbacks aren't visible ? on: March 02, 2020, 10:29:14 AM
I am talking about depracy post history. Its pretty clear it is a scam attempt and he/she have got multiple tag and open flag against him/her. But surprisingly that users only posting where feedbacks and flags aren't visible. Isn't there possibility fall in that trap especially for (greedy) newbies? That user is locking thread, so no chances for reply there.
Reporting thread wouldn't much benefited since scam isn't moderated. Moderators only could move other section (IMO), also it will take some times.

Is there any harm if visible flags and feedbacks in all boards on current trust system?

Please just report them asap if they're in the wrong section. They will be removed if they're spreading malware or at the very least into a section where they belong and they'll likely be banned if they're spamming it everywhere. That user has been nuked which is probably what will happen to any other accounts that do the same and I'm sure he will be back on another.

Seems like it's a regular user of this forum, he knows where negative beliefs don't show up, a wise choice. But those sections are just for discussion, not a place to promote any services,

I doubt he's targeting specific subs on purpose but rather just spamming it where he can for maximum exposure.
1495  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos and April fools, 2020 preempt on: March 02, 2020, 10:22:22 AM
At least for the past two years on the forum , I have witnessed that Theymos has come up with different mind blowing gimmicks for the April fools day

They're often staff-suggested ones or at least staff suggest additions. I'm still hoping the one I've been suggesting for years gets done  Grin. It's simple but effective and I know it will get a lot of people even if it's only brief. I'm not going to say what it is but maybe if it doesn't get done this year I will.

Give moderators a day off.

We can take a day off whenever we want, though I wouldn't say no to paid holiday and sick leave  Grin (though I think that's one of the reasons why we technically aren't employees so they don't have to offer that and I also can't sue theymos for the sexual harassment he keeps sending me via PMs  Grin).

Again, what do you think he can come up for this year, let us preempt him
I have heard that he will disable signatures for few days and he will tell everyone that this will remain permanently.
Or was it that he will disable signatures permanently and tell everyone it will be for few days? Not sure Undecided

That has been suggested in the past along with announcing that signature campaigns are now banned.
1496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 01, 2020, 04:17:20 PM
Somehow I moved up two places to seventh and am actually join fifth now. Not sure how I managed that as I've been doing very average for quite a while.

How did micmen get the 2-3 result right on the Spurs/Wolves match? Good call.

Watford played really well yesterday and deserved the win, though I am a little disappointed Liverpool's invincibles status has been taken from them but Liverpool really looked asleep. Hopefully they sort themselves out for the CL match.
1497  Other / Meta / Re: 21 Million Proposal on: February 29, 2020, 10:17:19 AM
No, this is a terrible idea. What would be the benefit of this? We don't have to limit things just to try fit in with a number associated with bitcoin. This is a forum to discuss bitcoin and we shouldn't be limiting or capping users from being able to post just based on some arbitrary number. It's the same thing when people complain about that this forum should be decentralised just because bitcoin is. There should be as few limitations to posting as possible and we certainly shouldn't be capping users. All that would do would be shooting the forum in the foot as people will just flock to another forum that doesn't have such a ludicrous restriction.
1498  Other / Meta / Re: Can you create a signature campaign for OP posts? on: February 29, 2020, 10:12:22 AM
Whilst I think it might not be technically against the rules, this is just a recipe for disaster and I don't think it should be permitted (though maybe it would fall under advertising spam if people are creating threads just for the sig exposure). It's already a nightmare with users forcing themselves to post about things they know nothing about, and doing the same but for threads would be even worse. They won't even be interested in discussing anything as they'll only create a thread then move on to creating a new one as that's all they're going to be interested in.
1499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 29, 2020, 10:06:39 AM
Had 0-1 down to Leicester for the game last night and then VAR strikes again and disallows their goal for a handball, but it looks like the Norwich player hand-balled it first and then it hit the Leicester player's hand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNEFjvgFRUk

But I'm not even 100% it did actually hit his hand at all. From the second angle it looks like it may have just missed, but either way it was close and doesn't change the fact it hit the Norwich player first.

Brighton vs C Palace is the early kick off today, I dunno if there’s a match up more dull to be honest Cheesy
None of the big teams face each other today but there’s an interesting match between Watford & LFC, could be a good game, Watford are better than their league position suggests.

I'll be watching the Leeds game instead to see if they're gonna blow it again.
1500  Other / Meta / Re: Scrap the trolling rule? on: February 27, 2020, 04:16:41 PM
You should always add as much info as possible as mods probably aren't going to go investigating and they might not be aware of why you consider it trolling, but that's the sort of report I'd probably leave and neither mark good or bad, but there are far worse instance of trolling here that go unreported or unhandled.

I don't think we should get rid of the rule but it's obviously one where it's down to the opinion of the reporter and the mod who handles it. some people do get away with far too much trolling round here though.

Slightly off topic; who's the moderator for the Meta board?

I think hillariousandco and/or Cyrus were listed as mods at one point but there is no one currently so I'm guessing globals handle it.

ETA:  OP is not stupid, and I'm sure that his offspring (suchmoonlets?) are adorable.

I don't believe there's ever been a dedicated mod of Meta, but any Global or Admin can handle reports there, but the user is a Newbie so any patroller can handles reports against them and maybe that's what happened here.
