Serie A finally confirmed it a few hours ago: https://twitter.com/SerieA/status/1237666616315449345La Liga could be next. There's going to be a reunion tomorrow to determine what the next course of action is going to be. I also posted a couple of articles regarding the Europa League/Champions League and coronavirus here and here. Premier League will most likely follow the rest of the leagues very soon. Literally every major sporting event is getting postponed/suspended in Europe. Crazy stuff. I think we are heading towards stopping all major sports leagues in Europe for few months. It's radical, but probably best decision in such situation. Because things which are going on now is ridiculous - football without fans isn't football. And games without spectators doesn't makes sense when thousands of fans still gather outside stadium like in Valencia yesterday. And now Italian clubs will have to play in Champions league in other country and without playing in Serie A games. Is it fair? I don't think so. I don't even talk about travelling restrictions and etc Probably such decision will force to move EURO 2020 to next year, but I don't see other way if Coronavirus will continue to spread so fast.

Totally. Now my question is: if the PL is suspended indefinitely in the upcoming days, what will happen to our pool?

Totally. Now my question is: if the PL is suspended indefinitely in the upcoming days, what will happen to our pool? Arsenal is in quarantine, probably they will not play his match. I guess until Saturday, someone of the other player from the league will be positive to the virus and it will be suspended. Idk why the problem is that everything is suspended on two weeks how long the incubation is and the virus will be isolated. sooner or later awaits all of us, two weeks quarantine.

I see that few Leicester players are in quarantine too. I think it would be stupid to continue competition now. I think nothing will happen to our pool, we will be able to continue playing when competition will resume. Seems that Euro 2020 will not happen this year, as L'Equipe reported...

Totally. Now my question is: if the PL is suspended indefinitely in the upcoming days, what will happen to our pool? I guess that mostly depends on what happens with PL. If they just have a break no matter how long and than continue with the season I see no reason to do anything with our pool. In case this season of PL is finished than we have to make a decision. I hope it will not come to that but there was some talks in Germany already to finish the season and just award European places as per current ranking. Serie A is talking about possibility of some playoff. If worst happens we can just scratch this season and use the money as entry fee for next season or pay out the rewards as per current ranking. I have a feeling something between those 2 options would be fair option but that complicates things.

Just to make it clear, above post is just loud thinking on my part. Hilarius is the one in charge and it will be his word in the end. I wanted to put something like this in the original post but my young one came calling and I just pressed post before being dragged away from the computer

You're making sense in regards to the first paragraph of your post as we have like 9 games more to go (that's if I'm not mistaking my count in regards to the played matches) although I'm quite aware some clubs are yet to play their outstanding matches which was rescheduled. Out of the 9 games to be played, you can't rule out the chances of some participants having a shot at winning consolation prizes therefore anybody suggesting of the pool getting stopped won't be the idea solution to the problem. We just have to wait for all matches to be played, the only time we can stop the pool is if the premier league comes out with an announcement of stopping the season at this current state without playing the remaining 9 matches.

@Trofo I like your options, and thanks for the feedback (: It's very likley that tomorrow (or saturday morning) the FA will release an statement about the PL getting postponed. There's a lot of money involved in the PL so i'm sure some top dogs won't be happy about their decision. Btw, imagine if the FA decides to void this season @Harko thanks for the info! Crazy how things have escalated in just a matter of days around everything football related

So all Premier League games have been suspended until April: Following a meeting of Shareholders today, it was unanimously decided to suspend the Premier League with the intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time.
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: "Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.
"In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority."
Despite the challenges, it is the Premier League's aim to reschedule the displaced fixtures, including those played by Academy sides, when it is safe to do so.
In this fast-moving environment, further updates will be provided when appropriate. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2020/03/13/sport-coronavirus-live-premier-league-suspended-efl-rugby-latest/What a bummer. Personally this seems like overkill and the coronovirus isn't going to go away anytime soon, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. The UFC is also going to be having their games behind closed doors (but they'll still be televised). It's very likley that tomorrow (or saturday morning) the FA will release an statement about the PL getting postponed. There's a lot of money involved in the PL so i'm sure some top dogs won't be happy about their decision. Btw, imagine if the FA decides to void this season The games will just be rescheduled so the money will still be coming in, just delayed. Teams might lose a lot in ticket revenues if they decide to play in empty stadiums though.

Don't think so... And I'm not just saying that cos I'm leading the pool. It's obviously unfair. But ok... I'll agree to scratch the year's pool only if the FA declares no winning club and scratches the season's EPL. That to me would be fair.

Totally. Now my question is: if the PL is suspended indefinitely in the upcoming days, what will happen to our pool? I really doubt they will cancel the season altogether. The worst that will likely happen is they'll just reschedule the games. Personally I think it's overkill. They could play games behind closed doors but unless everyone in the country is going to stay at home then the disease is still going to spread and it'll end up doing ridiculous damage to the economy as it already has to bitcoin and the stock market. It's probably not much more of a threat than the flu to a fit and young professional athlete anyway. If they do cancel the season though the best thing to do would just be to pay out the winners as the table is now.

Playing games behind closed doors isn't possible because there is already some players and Arsenal manager Arteta infected. Now some teams are closed in quarantine. Offcourse, playing games later is most likely scenario, but first we need to stop spread of virus in Europe. There is some positive signs in China - number of infected people stoped to grow. While Japan already renew their basketball league.

They will just reschedule the games and that is it. But yes this will give the player a very busy time however I think this people are professional and trained so we would not see much difference. May be we will see few matches with surprising results which we already are seeing in regular times. If they do cancel the season though the best thing to do would just be to pay out the winners as the table is now. You are talking about the premier league table? I do not see that will be a big problem coz we already had 29 rounds out of 38 which means more than 2/3 matches were played. Most of all, the season winner is Liverpool of course.

I see. But I would not mind if we consider the current positions of the table if we really need to. I still believe that everything will become normal in a week or two and from the 3rd April we will have regular matches. Surely we all have busy time. Without football it's really boring.

Sorry guys, had a minor surgery so am kinda catching up. If the season continues, well, no harm done to the pool. If it ends - even if that option really does not suit me I feel a fairer option would be to pay out the winners based on current standings. Ultimately, it's a decision for the pool owner - just giving my 2 cents. Hopefully the season continues soon so we don't have these issues at all

I am a little bit more pessimistic. I don't think that anything will be resumed before May, even that is questionable. It is based on the Chinese fight against the virus and how long it took. I received an email from Superbru, you probably all got it. I see no reason why we not to adhere to them, we have enough points for that. How we deal with it All of our fixtures will be updated to reflect any date/time changes or marked as 'postponed' as soon as any official announcements are received. The situation is of course ever-changing and rescheduled dates for postponed matches are not always immediately known. As a result, you may see some funny fixture times such as some football rounds being pushed back a few months on Superbru with visible fixture dates not being legitimate. Such cases are merely our way of removing the matches from your dashboard so that you aren't receiving reminders etc. and so that they can be rescheduled for their valid dates as and when they are known.
Equally, if any tournaments end up being completely cancelled due to the outbreak and a lack of time to fulfil fixtures, said tournaments will also be closed on Superbru once official. In the majority of cases, the current pool standings would be taken as final in the event of a cancellation. However, if a tournament is cancelled in its very early stages and not enough of the event has been completed to provide valid standings at Superbru (such as the recent Players championship), we will cancel the tournament and consider it null and void.
