Software patents are granted in a very small number of countries, if for some reason, someone were able to patent the block chain he would be able to extort businesses that rely on this technology in such countries.
The United States and all of Europe grant software patents. Japan too. Which countries are you thinking of that don't issue patents for software? There are no software patents in Europe.

Well, it happened exactly as I expected, nothing special happened...

There will be no miners in 20 years because subsidy is to small to pay mining and bitcoin developers don't allow enough on chain transactions to maintain enough mining to keep the network safe, so bitcoin will be irrelevant or forked into POS.

I must be misunderstanding this. Can someone clarify? Did DeaDTerra receive more than 22,000 BTC and return less than 500 BTC to shareholders? If this is remotely accurate then why is DeaDTerra still showing to be a trusted user? Did some good come of this that made people ok with donating to DeaDTerra like a charity?
HashFast fucked us all.

uh, i think it's pretty hard to refute that it has made monetizing evil shit easier.
but if they somehow 'get' bitcoin then it'll move to monero and on and on and on. it's too late to go back now no matter what they try. i hope they get better at catching this human garbage.
True, there are always the pros and the cons, although, I'm pretty sure, this conversation started with the invention of the Internet, and that's beyond banishment, it's just a matter of adaptation and criminals are always one step ahead of law enforcement, eventually they will catch up.

it is a violation of their ToS to sell the coins in your Coinbase account on LocalBitcoins??
Yes, it's like that from the beginning, also you cannot gamble with coins bought at Coinbase, if you do so, your account will be terminated. Why did they do this? Rules from the governments or from the coinbase shareholders? Coinbase give me rules what i can do with my bitcoins? Than we can separate bitcoins in dark bitcoins, infected with porn, gambling, and in white bitcoins? Good times for mixing services ;-) Regulatory compliance of course. No company wants to make it difficult for their costumers to be their costumers, also they would save a shitload of money if they didn't have to monitor users' activity.

Sim, já troquei e-mail's com ele e pediu-me 0.62 bitcoin. Espero sinceramente que isto corra bem. Já falei com algumas pessoas que pagaram e tiveram a chave para desencriptar.
Ok, então, boa sorte.

This is maybe a little off topic but it looks like Coinbase is getting stricter with rules. Did you guys know that it is a violation of their ToS to sell the coins in your Coinbase account on LocalBitcoins?? I'd been doing that the past maybe 6 or 7 months and never knew it was illegal. A couple of days ago I received a warning email from them saying that I was in violation of their ToS, that it is illegal to sell BTC from my Coinbase wallet on Craigslist, eBay, LocalBitcoins etc Yes, it's like that from the beginning, also you cannot gamble with coins bought at Coinbase, if you do so, your account will be terminated. You need to obfuscate your activity from Coinbase.

What happened 4 years ago when the halving happened? Did the price plummet like this?
Based on the price history of bitcoin last 4 years ago which is 2012 the price in dec 2012 is only $13 and just after months it's skyrocket up to $266. IMO the halving help bitcoin in that moment because maybe they know what is the benefit of halving so most of the online investor take that advantage because the price is just $13 and that panic buying cause the price to skyrocket . That bubble is attributed to the Cyprus financial crises, nothing to do with halving.

How accurate your predictions have been over the years?
$85 doesn't seem possible unless something really bad happens.

Well, digital cameras and cell phones with cameras are the real culprits here...
Is there any startup trying to solve the GoPro child pornography problem?

The European Commission plans new rules on anti-money laundering. http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-16-2380_en.htmand there is a part to virtual currencies: Tackling terrorist financing risks linked to virtual currencies: to prevent misuse of virtual currencies for money laundering and terrorist financing purposes, the Commission proposes to bring virtual currency exchange platforms and custodian wallet providers under the scope of the Anti-Money Laundering Directive. These entities will have to apply customer due diligence controls when exchanging virtual for real currencies, ending the anonymity associated with such exchanges; As of 01.01.2017 the EU directive must be transposed into national law. Perhaps BaFin was so fast and turns it already now. what about bitstamp? will bitstamp be shut down in germany too? now news on their website. They're good in Germany: Bitstamp’s license is passportable into the 28 EU member states providing all European customers with a robust, secure platform for bitcoin trading. https://www.bitstamp.net/article/bitstamp-first-nationally-licensed-btc-exchange/

Hopefully this is not the beginning of a more major attack on Bitcoin. I also wouldn't be surprised to see in the coming months, although, that they resolve the issue and are able to sell to their German customers again. Coinbase offers a great service and the German people deserve to be able to take part in the program.
It has nothing to do with bitcoin. It's usual for USA startups and established companies to enter in European markets and think they can disregard all local laws and do their business like they do in USA, well, they can't... So this is going to happen in all EU countries? Germany is just the first to act? It will happen in countries that have legislation Coinbase is not complying with... They may need to have European offices and servers and comply with European data laws, you know USA companies give all information to the government and intelligence agencies, financial information is very valuable, letting USA companies operate unchecked is opening the doors wide to spies.

They must comply with local law, I assume they're not doing that, so, no business there.
