why the rush?

It reduces my risk exposure to run more than the full 200Gh for the next 4 months. It has been my plan all along to get above 200Gh and I fully intent to see this through. SC has thrown everything out of whack and I have had to change my original plans along with it.

something distasteful

Hi DILLIGAF,

I understand that you don't like the way I have handled gigamining. That is fine. Where I draw the line is using inappropriate language towards myself or others in this thread. If you would like to speculate about gigamining, rant about something I've done wrong or just troll me, that is fine.

I would like to ask that you please refrain from this in the future.

Best regards,
gigavps

stuff about all mining bonds

Hi EskimoBob,

If you would like to discuss all mining bonds, please start your own thread. If you have something specifically about gigamining you would like to add, please feel free.

Thanks,
gigavps

Hey Giga, have you considered replacing Gigamining with a fixed dividend bond instead of per mh?

Hi DiabloD3,

I have not. If I replaced the current mining bond with a fixed coupon payment, I would be taking on even more risk. For instance, there have been two MAJOR events this week / weekend that could have been a lot worse then they ended up being.

  • Most know that one of the mini rigs stopped working the first night. BFL quickly took this back and is burn-in testing it with gigamining details at their facilities.
  • The condenser motor for the HVAC system in FL "shat the bed" on Friday evening. This caused the DC to become fairly hot and everything needed to be shut down for 16 hours while the HVAC contractor came and fixed things. If I had not put systems and procedures in place before hand along with a commercial HVAC contractor account, this event could have caused multiple days of downtime since it happened on the weekend.

Gigamining came with a premium in price for exactly these reasons. I've take on the risk of running and managing the equipment along with all of the pitfalls that come along with it. This is why I decided to share the risk along with the profits.

Best,
gigavps

If you remove equipment you are in violation of the bond.

Hi steelhouse,

I have quoted the contract below. Please help me understand where you feel I would be in violation of the bond contract.

Thanks,
gigavps

The holder of this bond will receive as coupons a number of bitcoins equivalent to 100% PPS output of 5 MH/s, for as long as they hold the bond. Coupon payments are to be made on Monday for the previous 7 days of mining activity. The issuer can buy back the bond at any time at a price equal to 1.05 times the highest price the asset was traded on GLBSE over the prior 360 hours.

I've put a poll up to gauge interest in TERAMINING.

Instead of me rattling off what I plan to do again, I would like to hear what interested parties think and hopefully gauge what interest their is in this idea.

warehouse
91350.12 Mh/s, 5 nodes and 76 GPUs, 9 problems

I have updated the mgpumon config to not report low temps as issues in the farm.

I do provide these web pages in an attempt to provide transparency into gigaminings operations. If you would rather not see them, just let me know and I'll block the ports.

It's a bad PSU and doesn't appear to be the fault of shipping damage.  I think this one's on us.  We were eager to get these units out and should have burn tested a bit longer.  We've paid for the return frieght, will swap the PSU and point it at Gigga's credentials while we run it through a longer burn.

Thanks BFL!

Did I read correctly that the Mini Rigs Require a 208v circuit and not a 110v?

I would like to know this as well.

Also giga, how loud are these?  Can you put something on youtube?

I can post a video when I am back in town in July.

How heavy are they? 10-20 pounds? Or more?

1 mini rig is 45lbs. They are monsters.

Did you trade in your Singles or are you still using those?

The singles are still running strong. They are the most maintenance free mining devices I have ever used.

Faulty after 1 day ? not very impressive. Now what if the buyer is in Europe.

Equipment breaks. What IS impressive is BFL's response and how they are handling the situation.

Now I want you to tear one open and take some pics Cheesy

I sent the one mini rig back to BFL for a diagnosis and some more burn in testing. I'll not be opening one of these puppies up anytime soon.

overnight it?

yup

giga, if you end up replacing the PSU in the one that is down, please let us know which brand/model it uses...Very curious.  Also, have you had an opportunity to take measurements of the mini-rig's dimensions?

Thanks

Loose measurements are: 12w x 17h x 19d

WOW.

I go on a little drive for 10 hours and I come back to 3 pages of:

  • Estimations of how much money has been made / lost / ponzi'd
  • Ciuciu telling me to get out of the mining game which by the way, won't happen
  • DILLIGAF keepin at it, gotta admire his pit bull spirit
  • Others wondering what is going to happen with Gigamining and moar speculation

What's next? Are you guys going to start suggesting that Pirateat40 and I are the same person?  Wink

Gigamining's current state

  • 1 of the 4 mini rigs died, looks to be the PSU. I have overnighted it back to BFL so they can fix it up and run some extended burn in tests.
  • I still need to make a move for another 100Gh before SC comes out, more to come on this when I make a final decision. Never hurts to take your time and make sure you have all of the facts before pulling the trigger.

Gigamining's future

I have already reserved the tickers TERAMINING AND PETAMINING on glbse.com. There will be a trade up program to teramining when SC comes out. What it will look like depends on multiple factors which unless you can predict the future, we'll need to take a wait and see approach on.

Gigaminers have put a lot of trust that I would help make them returns. I take this responsibility very seriously and do not want to leave anyone behind. I know it may be hard to see for some, but there multiple angles to look at here and not all of them include dollars, btc and cents.

Best,
gigavps

This looks shopped, I can tell from the pixels and I've seen quite a few shoops in my tiem.

lulz.

If it were shopped, i wouldn't be worrying that one of them is down at the moment.....

This is par for the course with new technology though, so this is not totally unexpected. Probably just a power supply or some judo trick I need to learn with the MR.

Just wondering if theres a reason the minirigs aren't mining on gpumax like the ones here, http://wa.gigamining.com:81/mgpumon/

Wouldn't it make sense to get paid more? or do they have a limit?

Hi mb300sd,

I have to use a special reporting agent in BAMT which currently does not show what pool each FPGA is using. They are however running on GPUMAX.

Best,
gigavps

You got me. Something about this thread draws me in like a magnet lol.

It's because it's 100Gh!

I'm not quite sure if many of you have tried to run 100Gh of GPUs. It's pretty much a 10hr a day job.

These things are setup and go.
1557  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mini Rigs in the wild! on: June 21, 2012, 03:03:28 AM
Man, why is it that all the rich guys with mini-rigs never seem to own a good camera... Cry

Didn't have my camera with me. Just the iPhone....

I guess some pics are better then no pics.  Tongue

Another question, do the front screens show any useful information, and if so, what?

The front screens are currently only showing preset information. BFL has stated that this will be fixed in coming revisions of the case / chaining of the PCBs inside the case. We saw the same thing with the singles and as more come out, they will correct these relatively minor issues.

For me, I could care less about the screen as long as the thing is hashing away.
1559  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mini Rigs in the wild! on: June 21, 2012, 02:36:24 AM
What's the noise level like? BFL said they were designed to be silent.

The are fairly quite compared to a 4x5970 reference rig running at 80% fans. I probably wouldn't run them in my living room though.

EDIT: also, power draw. Wanna see a killawatt on those pls.

I do not have something to measure power draw on 208v. I'm happy taking BFL's word on the power draw side of things.

What is the total hashrate?

The total average hash rate in bfgminer is around 103.5Gh/s. BFL has OVER DELIVERED on the hash rate of these things!
