161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Tool] AMD-Compute-Switcher for switch automatically to compute mode on: April 05, 2018, 07:10:35 PM
I have no machines where this would be useful.  However it looks like everything is being done in the same area of the registry and people are asking for other options so here is an idea.

set everything the way you want with the standard tools
launch regedit.exe
Go to  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Right click at that level and select 'Export' from the context menu
Save that somewhere

Now if you want to implement the changes you should be able to right click the .reg file you saved from the steps above and select 'Merge'

If you want to script it in a batch file you should be able to do it like this: regedit.exe /s "C:\Users\<my username>\Documents\<my filename>.reg"

Someone else will have to test this though, as I say I have no machines where this would matter.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / XMR GUI v 0.12.0 before the fork on April 6th? on: March 29, 2018, 05:08:37 PM
I tried looking for this so if this is mentioned elsewhere please link it and I apologize for posting, but...

Does anyone know if there will be an upgraded GUI wallet release prior to the fork?  I see the CLI version is up already but I can find no mention anywhere of a GUI version update.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: March 23, 2018, 12:16:37 PM
I heard that Monero V7 algo will happen in the April instead of 28 this March? I think KnightOfPi also saying about that as well.
So, are we fucked up by this ASIC bastard?
Just building my GPU rigs to focus on CN algo and then this CN ASIC mining comes and fucked up everything!  Cheesy

Correct. Looks to be early April.

164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows update broke rig. Anyone else have this issue? on: March 22, 2018, 01:21:16 AM
This is what I am doing (just the addendum part - it's all you need - scroll down to it)
https://techgage.com/print/taking-back-control-of-windows-10-updates/

Haven't seen it posted here.  Basically if you take away the system's ability to access those two files: MusNotification.exe, and MusNotificationUx.exe then it can't reboot after it tries to install updates.  Updates become a manual process. In fact I noticed that the updates often fail the first time but succeed the second, but since it's happening on my terms and when I initiate it, I'm fine with that.  I do updates every couple of months. Some updates, like feature updates, will undo or fix these changes to these two files and then you have to do them again.  But at least you get to control the whole process your self.

EDIT: I guess I should say, it's not actually all you need, you still need to configure the box to not update drivers.  But this prevents those annoying monthly windows updates from rebooting your box.  I also run an AV which disables windows defender and I add exclusions to the AV for my miner files.  Windows defender has started quarantining some miner executables and it isn't very easy to whitelist them, so it needs to be disabled one way or another.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: March 17, 2018, 05:43:34 PM
My understanding is that the technical details of the monero fork are on github and some cn coins have already implemented the same.  I was reading issues for xmrig and xm-stak to see where they stood on these changes and according to devs these are already ready to go on the fork (at the time I was reading they just needed final monero code to test against - assuming tests go well then they can release updated versions any time - this was as of a few days ago).

If this is true than all of these asic manufacturers surely must have looked at the proposed monero fork changes.  And if they could fix their machines with a firmware update to work on the new fork then more than likely would never have revealed the machines exist at all.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: March 16, 2018, 10:00:30 PM
Maybe bitmain preordered chips to make a bunch of these.  So they need to presell a ton now.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: March 15, 2018, 08:47:53 PM
Looks like a couple CN coins have already implemented the monero fork changes.  There may be nothing to mine with these when they arrive at people's doors.

You know this also has me thinking, if ETH or ZEC announced an imminent algorithm change hardfork, would we suddenly see some more previously unknown soon-to-be-worthless asics hit the market?
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Mining Pool Hub - Multipool. Multialgo, Auto Exchange to any coin. on: March 15, 2018, 08:00:46 PM
Is this pool going to be up to speed with the XMR fork right away when it happens in a couple weeks?
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: February 10, 2018, 06:43:13 PM
Seems Bitmain's monopoly comes to an end  Cheesy Cheesy

Well known Mining Conglomerates, Bitmain and Canaan Creative, are about to be given a run for their money as Samsung has announced it will join in the mining game.

Yesterday Samsung confirmed that it will begin manufacturing ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Chips) chips which will be used in cryptocurrency mining specific equipment.

https://medium.com/@mappopk/samsung-to-join-the-cryptocurrency-craze-3b56ecb6163c

I read somewhere that samsung was making chips also for baikal....just saying.....

edit: found the link for what it is worth

http://www.idownloadblog.com/2017/12/22/samsung-baikal-bitcoin/

"Samsung’s component-making arm will supply 14-nanometer ASIC chips for Baikal’s newly updated Bitcoin mining hardware. First chip samples have already been tested, with mass production scheduled to kick off in January 2018."

- I see there will be still no breakthrough in bitcoin ASIC manufacturing. Samsung will produce 14-nm chips, while Bitmain's S9 is 16 nm.

But Samsung entrance to the market could lead to much tougher competition for Bitmain, and reduce prices.

Biggest problem with this scenario is baikal.  They can't even build a working web store.  Hopefully someone else will be getting samsung chips to build something.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: February 02, 2018, 03:30:55 AM
Hi,
I'm new to cryptocurrency. I have some geocoin on mining pool hub. They're saying "Geocoin credits will be distributed after manual swap" and link to this forum. Do I need to do anything to switch my geocoin to another coin? I tried to manually swap but nothing has happened for a few days.

Just wait.  MPH will credit you after the pool coins get swapped.

I don't receive the confirmation email that is required for withdrawals so my withdrawals are perpetual stuck 'on hold'.. anyone?  Huh

You don't have to confirm every withdrawal, just new addresses.
172  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BLOKFORGE- Official Canaan Distributor on: January 21, 2018, 09:07:05 PM
Does anyone have a link to the controller image?  I don't even see the controller images for the previous ones in github unless I am missing something.

I realize that the controller is a Pi but can I use any old Pi as long as I have the SD image from canaan?  Or is there something special about their Pi?  Is there a Pi version requirement?

I have a number of old Pi's sitting around, just wondering if I can repurpose one and save money on a controller.

Now that many of us were given a sprinkling of stellar lumen can the minimum trade amount on that be lowered?  A minimum of 300 with a value of .61 USD means a minimum trade amount of around $183 which seems a bit high to me.  You can certainly create orders on other pairs that are a lot lower value than that.

So is it down on purpose or is it broken again?  Undecided

I haven't logged in, but it appears up to me. I can read the charts and see trades from a minute ago. Is it down for you?

There was an extended period (it had been just over 20 minutes when I made my last post) with no trades on any trade pairs.  I tested both market and limit orders and received errors.  Just like old times.

Seems to be working now though.

Update - We are still working to track down an elusive bug which is holding up launch. This bug did not appear in our many weeks of testing and only emerged in the production environment. Unfortunately, it is not consistently reproducible and we cannot launch until this issue is resolved. To reiterate our earlier statement: stale (and possibly all) orders will be canceled, and liquidations will be paused before trading is resumed. We will be offering a substantial amount of free trading following resolution.

I don't know if they added it after you quoted it but the final line also says "All funds remain secure. "

That's what? Roughly $1,366,400,000 worth of BTC.

From 2 hours to a whole day.. when is this upgrade going to be finished? I missed a lot of trading opportunities today and I don't appreciate that at all. But who cares...........

We lost a lot of trading opportunities for month with lag and other bug .... So all prefer 1 day without trading at all for have a fonctionnal site ....

It's your point of view. If you were trading with big money you would understand that this lack of information is unacceptable.

Well I share that same point of view with Shamane and I would consider my trading to be with big money, although that's all relative.

As for those who are seeing visions of mtgox or cryptsy, there isn't any real parallel.  Withdrawals have been working.  I have seen some people complaining about cash withdrawal issues now and then but every crypto withdrawal I have ever done has happened in a very timely manner.  One of the only reasons I have tolerated the pathetic state of the Kraken website up to this point actually.  That and the volume, although that has been drying up so hopefully this update will bring some of that back.

In addition to withdrawals functioning well, there are Kraken reps making regular updates here and on the status page.  If they went radio silence for a few days, then I would start to worry.  This downtime might be annoyingly long for some, but honestly, it is most annoying in how long it has taken to get to this point of actually implementing an update.  This had better work to address the problems we have been dealing with though.
