UPS wants to charge me a fee for import duties.  This may well be the last miner I buy from bitmain since they obviously can't get their shit together with the paperwork.

Was it over $2500 total purchase or below.  Fedex seems like the bether route.

Just one miner.  It must have been around $1130ish at time of purchase.  So looks like the duty comes out to around 3.15%.  I have never had to pay a duty on miners before.  I saw that conversation about HST codes but I had already made the order by the time people were talking about it in the thread and I was unable to go back and change anything to add it to my order.

Call the number on the invoice and tell them what it is, UPS will refund, at least they refunded mine.

I have talked to them twice already today.  They said the shipper had to fix it.  I will try again after I get it but right now they won't do anything for me.

UPS filled it out wrong. Not Bitmain's fault. I had the same problem with FedEx and they tried to blame the shipper also. There is a process you go through to dispute it.

Do you do that process after delivery?  So far in both of my conversations they didn't give me any indication that I could dispute anything and they made it sound like only bitmain could do anything about it.  Which is dumb because I called when it was still in Shenzhen and hadn't even cleared customs yet.  The other annoying thing about this is that it appears to have held up the package longer than it would have otherwise.  In the past it usually goes through the process and winds up leaving China in a day or so, this time it has been held up in Shenzhen for 3 days so far although the tracking finally shows departure scan from Shenzhen as of the last hour.

i dont really care for folks that flaunt free electricy. its not really free and should be factored in. some is payig for it wether its your boss mother grandmother rich uncle or if you are setup in the trap abandominium mining via usa and a 96 vovlt phone line society is collectivly paying fr it mining is a waste of time imo if you really want to make money start trading securities and currencies or playing powerball

Did somebody "flaunt free electricity" somewhere?  I must have missed that.

When comparing prices you need to member that time is money and the earlier more expensive S7 have had been hashing at a lower difficulty for longer. Not sure if anyone has done the maths to show who was better off?

I have 2 S7's and a 3rd on the way (Batch 9 purchased 1-6-16 sent today).  I track my purchase and profits all in BTC.  If I need to buy cables I usually have to pay USD but I will convert it at the time of purchase to add to my spreadsheet.  I usually can get PSU's for BTC on newegg although my latest PSU was purchased with USD because newegg didn't have any 1600 gold, only platinum and titanium which I didn't want to spring for.  So all of these include an EVGA 1600 G2 and some of them include extra 14awg extension cords. Here is where I am now.

Batch 5 - 3.79860731 BTC still needed to break even - earned 1.66839269 so far  <--Hashing on bitminter
Batch 8 - 4.03911787 BTC still needed to break even - earned 1.01088213 so far  <--Hashing on KanoCK
Batch 9 - 3.27 BTC to break even (this is the one that shipped today - supposed to arrive Friday but that seems optimistic - probably won't start hashing for me until Monday)

The new one will go on KanoCK also.

Just out of curiosity, do you also track operating expenses in BTC? I am thinking of primarily electricity costs, though space rental, Internet access, and cooling could be present depending on your situation.

No, I run them at work so I don't pay electric. The boss knows and doesn't seem to care but I keep it reasonable in terms of how many devices I have.

The divorce and bankruptcy lawyers are going to claw back every satoshi of Bitcoin and shitoshi of Crapcoin they can track down.

I can't even begin to imagine how you think that could be accomplished.  I had a withdrawal, actually a few between June or July and Octoberish. But all crypt-sty has on me is an email address and a name.  Is someone going to email me and ask me to return some alt coins?  I seriously doubt it.  And if they do, I won't be sending anything.

Does anyone happen to know if trades are also frozen on the biteba9 chinese version of Crypt-Sty?  It shows a 24 hour volume in CNY but it's less than $20 US.

I know crypt-sty has always maintained it isn't their site but the domain registration alone proves otherwise.  Seems like an extra layer of shady to shutdown one exchange because of "H@x0Rz" and leave another exchange running.

Also it was speculated that the wallets on bitbun9hole are actually the same wallets used by crypt-sty so now that I think about it that may account for some of the continued transactions seen on crypt-sty wallets.

EDIT: I also just now noticed that the chat on biteba9holders is hidden just as it was on crypt-sty.

Hi All

Under worker tab -worker Name-Total 1(3 Miners) ?  Where this 3 miners figure coming from .

Thanks

Any one have any idea ?

Screenshot? Not really sure what you are asking/talking about.

http://i64.tinypic.com/200twfo.png

Do you have 3 different devices?  Based on the top it looks like it only see's 1 worker by name (which may mean you didn't give any name).  I am not sure why the 3 in parenthesis.  I have 4 devices, each with it's own worker name so mine says "Total: 4 (4 miners)" but it also shows 4 workers in the table above whereas yours just shows the one.  Also did you by any chance experiment with worker names at some point?

I hate to break the news THE RABBIT HOLE go s a lot further as I look at the blockchain!!  This will be the BIGGEST THEFT IN CRYPTO to go down in HISTORY!!!!! Cool

Hate to break it to you, but MtGox lost something like 850,000 BTC (worth $1000 each at the time)... GOXtsy is still much lower than MtGox

$850,000,000 vs $12,700,000

I don't think all the maths are in just yet...

Yeah but to be fair the comments from that banskter sellout Mike Hearn need to be on there too.  And all the various times and places where his comments were reposted or reported in the news.  I am inclined to believe the drop has a lot more to do with that than it does crypt-sty.
I think you are mistaken. $12,700,000 beats a foundation member. Millions and Millions and Millions.. or a dude's say so... IT"S MONEY!

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.  12.7 million is just under 2.2% of the 5.8 billion market cap.  But the price dropped around 18% over that loss?  Makes no sense.

With all the issues with centralized exchanges -- run by people... I am seriously surprised someone hasn't come up with a de-centralized exchange platform.  Not controlled by any one person... but by the network itself.

Someone did but it had an IRC backdoor and stole everyone's money.
774  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 16, 2016, 04:07:43 PM
that a difference at all between batch and batch 8 9 do not see it, it is only a matter of interest $$$$$
Now suppose that I buy batch 9, who tells me that I do not send batch8?
at the end there is no difference, are equal, they could take directly batch8 and make it unique batch 9, and start with shipments, so lie ahead for a future batch of 10, provided there.

The difference is batch 8 is in next 5 day's shipped should be a guarantee.  So you know it's going to be soon.  Some have been lucky and reported batch 9 already, but obviously not all got that lucky.

If you were the worst of lucky I think they have till Feb 5 till it's truly late.  So could be some time if they used all of it.... if they do no one could say.

If they wait until Feb 5th I'll be seriously pissed.  Technically the website does say that but we all know that batch 8 and 9 are the exact same machines so if they have them to ship now for batch 8 then they should have them to ship immediately for batch 9 on the 20th.  I fully expect to see shipping notification by the 21st or the 22nd at the latest since I bought mine around the 5th so would expect to be close to the front end of the batch 9 shipping queue.

Maybe it's crazy but this and other similar situations of coins being stolen demonstrates the benefit of having a way to reverse transactions.

Perhaps we should consider a mechanism to reverse a transaction through a vote or consensus. Haven't fully thought out how this could work but it is something to consider.

Something could be designed to allow miners to reverse a specific transaction (and all subequest tx's) through majority consensus in extreme situations such as this.

Mistakes and thefts happen. Fiat banks have the ability to correct mistakes and reverse transactions unless the funds are withdrawn for cash.

I dunno...just thinking out loud.

This is the Best i heard for that moment!  Shocked

This is completely contrary to the whole point of crypto.  Might as well also suggest a central authority to determine which transactions are legit and which ones need to be reversed.

so, as you say it is much better that Paul Vernon steal that BTC & LTC from users, instead of returning it back to those whom they belong?!
your words really "support" crypto community in eyes of other peoples who only "heard" about crypto!

crypto supports that opportunity, so why you prefer not using it?
and there is no "central authority", if majority of miners will support that move, so this will be... that's all.

The features you want already exist at paypal so go use it.  Clearly bitcoin isn't for you.

If the hack happened in July 2014 why did Mullet wait until April of 2015 to fix the lucky7 wallet code on github?  I believe cryptsy had lucky7 listed the entire time did they not?

https://github.com/Mullick/lucky7coin/commit/799b0b6b65a8fdd827d0d1406868d34a045ea779

It is also worth noting that this github commit is more than a month after Dooglus pointed out the issue https://github.com/alerj78/lucky7coin/issues/1

It is hard to believe the story as posted on the crypt-sty blog.  I think it is all smoke and mirrors and this is just a regular case of small man Vern greedily steals his customer's money.

Yeah I have 0% respect for that scum bag.

Heh.  But how do you really feel, K?

Nicely said! What do you think about the 2MB increase? Irrespective of Sam, from a technical perspective. It does seam the 7-8 transactions per second is what we can handle now, thus bringing that to 14-15 might be beneficial.
Yes I agree that bitcoin needs a blocksize increase.
That's the reason why we still have /BIP100/ in the coinbase sig Smiley

...

I certainly think that a middle ground 32MB solution is very appropriate.
If it's much lower, then I can see the problems reappearing again in the not too distance future.
I think a 32MB solution has a good life time on it, and then the size can be reviewed again in the distant future if 32MB becomes a limiting issue - and at that point it should be way more obvious where the blocksize is going - then see clearly: is it stable? slow growth? or otherwise?

Just for clarity you aren't advocating for an immediate jump to 32MB right?  You're just saying that any increase now should include a mechanism for increases up to 32MB in the long term?

Vircurex isn't on the list. Did you mean a different one?

You know I think my brain must have created it from virwox and bitcurex.  Now that I look more closely I see that it isn't there.
