Hey everyone, India Today is a popular weekly English magazine which is available for sale all over India. This week they have published a 11 page article titled "CRYPTO MANIA" which is focused on Bitcoin and crypto in general and it has been mentioned in their cover as well  In [REFERENCE] Magazines & Newspapers with Bitcoin Articles (Pre 2009 - 2019) thread, I posted an interest check for Group Buy and there has been some descent interest for that. I just bought the magazine 2 days back and it had pretty good information. Here are some pics :
Price :
The Price of each magazine is incredibly low at $1.5 per book. Please note that, though the price of each book is $1.1-1.2, withdrawal charges to fiat is included, hence I'm charging $1.5. As of now, there were interest for 13 books from 3 members which I will be able to get them from the local shop. But if there is interest for 50-100 books, I can try to contact India Today office for a bulk order.
Shipping :
It would be easier if I'm able to ship all the US books to a trusted person in US like minerjones or Mopar for reshipment and the EU books to a trusted person located in EU. For example, if we are able to reach 50 books for US and 50 for EU, it will cost just a single payment of ~$30 or so to ship from my country to US and another $30 for EU. Though final shipment prices are subject to change. With this, each person can pay just an additional cost of $30/50 books ~ $0.6 shipping fee per book and then they can discuss further shipment with the reshipper in your country. No one likes to pay $25 shipping just for $5-$10 worth of books  If you are able to pay an additional of $1-$2 per order, I will be able to buy some envelopes for safe shipment

Your real name, your home address, your phone number if applicable, anything that is important during a transaction. Use privnote.com, PGP keys or zerobin.net. The safest and most secure method Is going to be the use of PGP keys. websites may keep logs even though they say they don't.
I would prefer not to disclose your real name or your home address to anyone unless they are highly trusted in the community. If the buyer/receiver is in a country where PO Box is available, I would prefer using that instead of risking our house address. If PO Boxes are unavailable in the country where the receiver is present, they should be seeking the help of a friend or someone known to them to receive the packages. Moreover providing real names/any info related to us to an online stranger is not advisable as we end up in getting doxxed for various reasons. For international shipment, I use a dummy number which can be helpful on various instances too - hence I would suggest using that as well. Also, never use the same bitcoin addresses for receiving payments whatsoever and along with that prefer sending the txID through privnote.com or any safer websites. Posting the txIDs in replies shouldn't be encouraged too. |

Although, the advantage is that many people can use this means to exchange bitcoin to another altcoin, or exchange altcoin to bitcoin. And just after exchanging, the coin will be on trader's noncustodial wallet address on blockchain which still means, it is still someones keys and it is still the person's coins, but no privacy. Anyone that wants privacy will never make use of this exchange (tbDEX) for his privacy aspect.
Though I've never used Bisq in general, I've been a regular user of LocalBitcoins back in 2018-2020 for various reasons. I was generally in need of fiat-btc bridge only for withdrawing small amounts as I hardly invest nor had withdrawn more as I like to keep my savings in Bitcoin alone rather than fiat. LBC was good enough during the crypto winter days and hardly the transaction volumes were less too. But with the recent upwards movement of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general, majority of the exchanges had started placing mandatory KYC rules on their customers to prevent various illegal activities. I would say it is quite necessary if Bitcoin needs to go in a better way rather than being a currency used for illegal activities. Conversion of fiat -> bitcoin is a crucial gateway which could pave way for various crimes if they aren't monitored. Similarly, monitoring of cex exchanges by the governments and banks just to know the people involved in bitcoin and issuing them legal notice aren't good too. This has happened in some parts of the world and few governments are trying to extract as much information as possible about crypto users in general for taxation purposes  In such a case, Bisq comes into play where users can transact however they want and can fund illegal activities using bitcoin in general. Dorsey being the founder and CEO of a famous social media would never be able to create an exchange similar to Bisq as it can pose various legal restrictions to the company behind tbDEX (Square). If anyone who is gonna use Bitcoin for paying goods, will undergo KYC of tbDEX as that has been the common practice of many IMO but OTOH if anyone really concerned about privacy would be using coinmixers or atomic swaps of XMR or would stay with Bisq. Either way, here is a point which needs to be considered : Our goal is not to maintain anonymity of transactions at all costs. Nor is it to undermine an individual’s ability to optimize for anonymity. Nothing in principle precludes anonymous transactions for financial privacy on the tbDEX network. A PFI could, in principle, require no VCs, but such transactions would represent a high degree of risk to the counterparties.”
I would indeed wait for the exchange to launch before any wild speculation guesses about anonymity and privacy! |

Bitcoin on the whole is not just a currency but more than that. There lies economics, programming, mining, exchanges more and more so only if they are able to control all these, Bitcoin will become centralized. Nowadays, most of the famous centralized exchanges are demanding customers for KYC in order to trade to prevent any kind of mis-happenings like funding for drug trafficking, terrorism etc and in one form or the other these exchanges are indirectly controlled by various governments in the world.
Secondly, the Bitcoin source code is open source and controlling or centralizing the source code is near to impossible, so I'd rule out that one. Mining and Economics are already being controlled by various wealthy individuals and these wealthy individuals are already in control of the government as well (like Elon Musk is more powerful than a developing country itself). Through this we can infer that, just like Internet which is being controlled by wealthy popular companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook and Apple - The price action and Economics of Bitcoin will also be controlled by wealthy individuals but other than that the source code and the whole network will remain decentralized which is the fact to be considered.
El Salvador isn't a bigger country to say and they adopting a volatile currency for the transfer of goods wouldn't be more of a headline news to other countries. If a first world country is able to adopt (which will never likely happen as they will be coming up with their own centralized stablecoin instead), then centralization might be achieved at some point of time in future. Bitcoin becoming the Internet of Money is happening but it being the World currency will never happen anytime as 95% of the governments will end up in bringing their own stablecoin rather than adopting a volatile currency. Bitcoin will never rule out government currencies but will co-exist along with them in the Internet.

I have seen a few "Bitcoin Day" newspapers sell on ebay with ranging prices from
less than $100 and this one for over $400 in September.
I cant believe I have missed out on so many magazines over the years, I suppose
if you are not looking out for them they escape your attention.
Thanks for the update. Yeah, basically most of the collectibles/bitcoin memorabilia increase in price as soon as they are sold out because of the FOMO and then they settle a bit for lower prices a few months later. I have seen a few of them like these back in 2018-19 but in the long run, they obviously rise up in price and some which are extremely hard to source just like the 1988 Economist provide a return of 30-50X easily in a few years though true bitcoiners and collectors won't sell those. For instance, during the 2018 bear market Economist was auction and fetched a price of 0.046BTC ~$400-$450 which was indeed a great steal price considering the prices we have seen this year. |

There are still a few listed for $200-$600 here : $200 and $600. I still remember the auction on which I got this monumental piece for a cheap steal from none other than SatsLife. @SatsLife, I believe our auction was the final one to be conducted in this forum it seems as I've never seen another piece coming up for sale/auction later. Did they? It's the ones that you never see on ebay that will be hard to source. The New Yorker has been popping up less and less. And I have also not seen the 2011 Economist for sale publicly in about 2 years. Last private sale I'm aware of was in 4 figures.
Wish I had got hold of an Economist and Wired as well during the 2019 bear market itself. Have seen Citadel Vol 1 going up for as high as $750 but was unable to remember the tweet though. Are there any documented private sales of these you are aware of? Have quite a few, though unwilling to sell them but looking for a price discovery!
Also, is anyone aware of the documented prices of Diario Sept 7 from ebay or any other market apart from our forum? Have more than a dozen piled up somewhere safely! |

Meme coins did have their run solely because of Elon's manipulated pump but other than that there are absolutely no use case for them. The current market has saturated a lot and greediness has overcome among the investors who has started looking out for the next 100x or 200x coins which itself is called gambling rather than trading. The 2017 scamcoin mania suffered a downtrend just because whales and other large investors started dumping their coins along with various other scammers who had made quite a lot of profits at that time. If we are able to compare them with our forum, we have the best run on 2017 and the signature campaigns and spams flooded the space making it unbearable to read any threads over here. Greediness has overtaken the market and many scammers have made millions in 2021 so possibly they might start dumping their coins altogether. Dog coins had overgrown so much such that every new investor has started investing in dogs alone |

Axie Infinity has been ruling the charts of play-to-earn ecosystem, but I would wait for Aurory, a role playing P2E game based on Solana to come out. Recently they have conducted a successful IDO and have raised millions as well. Apart from this, Solana Foundation is backing up the game and they have released various teasers which were promising enough for the project to rise in popularity in the upcoming days. I like also Sand and Mana which has great features and many games are launching under them.
I believe MANA/Decentraland can serve as a non profit competitor for Facebook's Metaverse as both have been working on the same concept. |

I've been into various NFTs since early March and they have been quite a fascinating world to explore. Similar to an altcoin, they are just smart contract tokens on the specific blockchain like Ethereum or Solana in general. For instance, there are USDC and USDT tokens both on Ethereum and on Solana along with other coins. How are we able to distinguish them apart? It's determined based on the contract address of the specific token. Similarly the original artist/creator shares the contract address through which we will be able to verify if we have purchased authentic NFT or not. For instance this is the authentic contract address of cryptopunk : 0xb47e3cd837ddf8e4c57f05d70ab865de6e193bbb and the assets available only from this contract are worth a few millions. But there are various fake punks roaming around in opensea which is obviously trying to steal your ETH. NFTs are at an infant stage and the perfect use case of NFTs can work in the case of gaming as shown in the movie Ready Player One and Free Guy. Apart from this, the recent announcement from Facebook sheds light on the likeliness of Decentraland kind of space where we will be able to own Digital Land and Avatar through the use of Blockchain technology. Surprisingly in the case of Decentraland, any land/parcel near to the main area costs near to a million and recently a few months back, Boson - a blockchain based project which is building a virtual mall in Decentraland bought a land for $700k. Virtual land rates are rising at an enormous rate! |

Rich individuals like Elon were the sole reason for shitcoins like DOGE/SHIB being pumped even till today. Moreover, there are quite a few like Michael Saylor or the President Nayib Bukele who truly believe in the potential of Bitcoin and try to stay on radar without shit posting on twitter about other coins. Wish the future powerful investors be the same like Jack Dorsey/Saylor. I believe that a lot of big investments happen through the OTC market and for the very reason that they stay under the radar of the public in order not to affect the price.
Indeed very true. We never know if companies like Apple own bitcoin which were bought through various OTC trades but if their trade tends to go public anytime in future it might create a bullish movement and can change the way how bitcoin was conceived in public back in the early days. demand will far exceed supply, which has its upper limit.
We have already moved to the era of pricing the value of goods in satoshis and not in whole bitcoins! So 2.1 quadrillion satoshis are more than enough for the foreseen future. |

Some jobs which demand human workforce in the 20th century like in the army or a space mission where human life will be in greater risked if anything goes wrong demands to be replaced by non-living machines whereas humans should move onto areas like research or finding out ways to make the repetitive work simpler etc. I think areas where repetitive work force is needed should be replaced by automations/AI in general for better well being and thereby trying to improve the world we live in to pave a better way for future generation. Moreover, entrepreneurs are decreasing at an enormous rate in the developing countries which can decrease the number of jobs as well. For example, in a populated poor country like Congo where people used to live under $1 per day should be taught the basics of schooling so that the children over there can help the GDP of the country to rise to an extent thereby supporting the needy. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) education system is plagued by low coverage and poor quality. 3.5 million children of primary school age are not in school, and of those who do attend, 44 percent start school late, after the age of six.
Should the government be blamed for this or the people who live there? If we are able to correct the roots, we would be able to offer jobs for the 2-3 billion you have been pointing out in the post above  |
