right but if this goes on like this... vtc will be at 1 sat before fpga miners arrive...

too bad how those dev guys behave.

the stealth address info made vtc pump to 0.0015 and after that it is going DOWN.

i remember someone talking about VTC considering skein algo. But all those issues should be mentioned heret too.

lets see what happens in the next two weeks.

Everyone is talking about new featureS, but stealth addresses are the one and only thing confirmed.

We have been warning people about this for over 2 months now. at .0015 , you need 50 BTC / DAY of "new BTC" every day just to stabilize the coin. That is not realistic for a coin like VTC. Coins that are "hotter" than this are barely getting 50-200 BTC range per day.

2 years ago people were not aware of inflation but right now everyone is and until VTC halve once or twice nobody that is sane is going to invest much in this as in 1 year from now there is going to be 300% more coins maybe and my investment will have been cute in 1/4th.

Most PoS even if they are trash are stablizing and all PoW are going to the ground and burning in flames. I LOVE VTC but. you know...

The good news is that the inflation issue is now on the table for discussion. That is a very positive sign.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC | Stealth Address - Alpha Testing on: June 22, 2014, 07:17:43 PM
yeah the core of the community "understands" what is going on Cheesy

man thats like kindergarden. instead of taking care and making plans of improving we are having this accusations when someone comes up with REAL criticism.

I am worried about the basics of this coin... Who is going to mine that coin when it becomes worthless?

Why not switching over to another algo?

Why do they refuse to receive money?

Btw. SX addresses are really simple in their usability thats what makes it so great...

Of course selling is not an option right now, but sustaining this magical 1USD level would be the first step. This has been always the main argument of the "smart" supporters. but it seems those guys also realized that this is not worth mentioning anymore ^^

All your questions have been answered in previous posts. I dont know what else you are looking for short of an immediate fix this very minute.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC | Stealth Address - Alpha Testing on: June 22, 2014, 07:14:25 PM
too bad how those dev guys behave.

If that's how you feel, why don't YOU do some unpaid work on VTC, instead of whining like a bitch?

QFT  Cheesy

On a serious note, there are some things that people are concerned about. Another AMA may help people understand what is going on in the background and settle some nerves. I understand that the dev team doesn't want money, but if people want to donate maybe they can setup a PR donation account. That way at least there is some sort of fund somewhere that can be used for things that come up (like PR).

For the record. Sx addresses and pr campaign are slated for end of June. Leave the ama requests until then. There is nothing to say until then. The inflation "vote" is also very important if it comes to pass.

I could help spread the word about SX, but there isn't a clear explanation on what exactly it does, I think if we had that info we could start promoting it.

Its alpha. On Mon. Its not even in Vtc yet. Its not a coincidence that the pr push is planned alongside with sx rollout. There is nothing to explain to people until its implemented.

...talk among the developers to open up the inflation issue to a vote. Is this still being considered?

Yes, it is being discussed

This will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Boris, A week a ago, Bradley over on reddit mentioned that there is talk among the developers to open up the inflation issue to a vote. Is this still being considered?

Does this mean these tasks are likely to be completed by next weekend and we can start testing the reference daemon on the testnet?

Yes, step one entails recreating litecoin from the latest stable bitcoin branch, adjusting as needed, renaming things, and putting in the block chain configuration. It isn't a major amount of work, but will need extensive testing to ensure no bugs have been introduced.

Any testing, feedback, bug reports during the week will be gratefully received.

Care to say who the other members of the project are. You kept referencing "we".

What do you expect from us ?

Just keep doing what your doing bushido. A lot of it is out of your control. You cant dictate how the market prices the coin. And you guys already said that you do not want to change the inflation issue, so lets just see how the project plays out with sx addresses, the upcoming pr campaign, and whatever else.

Nobody can have issues with the devs, they have made their goals clear, and have accomplished all the goals up to now. They can only control so much, and everyone who invested knew what they were getting into.

Eta?

Uncertain.

Targets for this working week are to have:
  • chosen & secured a name + domain
  • base reference daemon ready for testing and running on the testnet
  • developed and tested instamine prevention

Will be following

We dead now  Undecided

Nah just wait a little more and then buy up.
$100 1.3Mh/s ASICs are out now, so watch all the other script coins start panicking and VTC start going back up as all the GPU miners move over to VTC

There has never been a guarantee asics will increase Vtc value. It can also be reasonably argued that they will increase sell/dump pressure on vert. unless buy demand increases dramatically, there is no reason to expect the current trend to not  continue.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC | Stealth Address - Alpha Testing on: June 22, 2014, 01:14:39 PM
looks like its testing 0.001.

Do you think it will break?

I think so. Also, Theoretically speaking, stealth addresses should already be priced in, so im scratching my head as to whats going on (beside the obvious inflation issue)

In that case, I should let go of my stash huh? Seems to keep slipping despite everything else that it has going for it.

I dont know to be honest. There will be a pump eventually, but what the real value of the coin is the question. I have 20btc sitting on the sidelines waiting to jump back in, but I am not 100% confident that it will stabilize at a much higher rate.

If I were you I would wait till the end of the month and see what happens just in case. How much are you down percentage wise?

Sure, but here is my problem. Vtc is basically attempting to cut into Btc s market share in terms of merchant use. I have come to the conclusion that this is a losing battle. It will not be able to penetrate that market in any substantial way. So what is the point of having a secure mining network if the coin is not used for anything? Btc will be for day to day usage, an anon coin will have the privacy market, and what is left for Vtc? The overall "business plan" for Vert is unsustainable as it currently stands. Either it completely goes into a different direction or it will be lost in the clutter very fast.

Just saw this on the reddit. Thats a point that hasent really been covered...

you really think bitcoin will win the battle?

I deleted the post because it wasnt mine. But ya, I tend to agree with that guy.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Execoin: | Electrum |Android & Lite wallets | Fast | ASIC-proof | Full-time devs on: June 18, 2014, 12:41:37 PM
Thanks for stealing our hard work again without giving credits to Wozz and Paybee.

https://github.com/paybee/electrum-vert

This is where all the hard work was done but you forked the ltc electrum and just copy pasted it over so no one sees its from the electrum-vert github, nice work.
Wozz did the main work on this, writing all the KGW  stuff in python etc.

https://github.com/fukukami/electrum-exe/blob/master/lib/blockchain.py

Code:
try:
    from vtc_scrypt import getPoWHash
except ImportError:
print_msg("Warning: vtc_scrypt not available, using fallback")
from scrypt import scrypt_2048_1_1_80 as getPoWHash

https://github.com/paybee/electrum-vert/blob/master/lib/blockchain.py

Code:
try:
    from vtc_scrypt import getPoWHash
except ImportError:
print_msg("Warning: vtc_scrypt not available, using fallback")
from scrypt import scrypt_N_1_1_80 as getPoWHash

funny that you didn't even make a working scrypt execoin module for python, so this electrum will stop working when execoin nfactor changes...

PS: The version you use has still bugs left thats why it wasnt really published.
PS2: We are all sooo impressed by the hard working execoin dev.......

wow. Lame

Guys, I am out of date, what latest news about stealth addresses? There are rumours such addresses will be implemented in MON first. Any ETA?

Its on Mon testnet now being tested. Fully implemented into VTC by end of June.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC on: June 09, 2014, 06:43:15 PM
i guess some people have to learn that also the crypto market has to be seen from the INVESTORīs point of view...

I am investing in VTC and i have been for months now, but it is not enough just saying we are working on "new" stuff while the price is moving to in critical thresholds.

as soon as we see VTC trading under 0.001 it will be interesting if the "new" stuff will be enough to stabilize the market.

To those who are making "smart" comments: please don't be childish!

Interesting. What would you suggest. It takes time to implement new features and roll them out efficiently. Bearing this in mind, what would be "enough" in your opinion to stabilize the market in the mean time?

The market is what it is, it can be artificially controlled perhaps in the short term, but this would would be counter productive for long term value. The crypto market is fickle, and folks expect quick results. But this is unrealistic. It seems that we are evolving into two camps. One group of coins that get pumped with hype and shortly die after, and the other group which have a clear vision of what they are doing and attempting to develop the coins in a pragmatic, rational way. This 2nd group consists of no more than 5 coins I can think of from the top of my head and VTC is one of them. I personally only invest into coins that fall into the second group as its the safest bet in a very high risk market. Weekly swings should not matter.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC on: June 09, 2014, 06:15:13 PM
we are talking a lot... but WHERE are the devs? I never read anything from them. They barely show up and right now is a crucial time. I am buying VTC, because i believe in them, but today some filled my buy orders at 0.001005!!!

When we go below 0.001 we will possibly see a point of no return, because panic sellers will try to save at least some BTC.

i was expecting VTC to bottom out at 0.0015, but this is bullshit right now.

They are doing important things. Like life... and the new Stealth Address feature this month.

If they spent all, or any, time reassuring a bickering crowd... it would never get done, or take much longer.

this is not the answer investors want to hear.... they are not Apple.

at least give some signs of life,
otherwise the dumping avalanche will break the coin and i doubt people will trust this dev anymore. I mean how can you let such a good coin die?

Never invest money you can not lose. Invest in only things that you understand after doing sufficient research. What is it? who is behind it? what are the short, mid, and long term plans. Once invested, closely monitor the status and well being of your investment. If none of these are able to be done, it is best to consider investing elsewhere.

It is not my, or anyone else's job to reassure you of your investment status, but if you were truly concerned, you would go through the recent post history of (all) the devs on this forum and the others that they frequent. If you did this I think you would be pleasantly surprised and relieved that the coin is in good hands and is being developed. But hey, its your ur money, do what u want.
