It is such a pain in the ass watching this fiasco  As long as the inner market is not interested in vtc the outer world will not be recognizing the great technology behind this project. I guess the only true thing you can do now is to change the algo and make a dynamic reward. Today I checked the reward generated by dark coin and it seems that it might be the best solution to go with a variable reward. DARKCOIN is really impressing, because it did something special. It has been pumped for weeks and months and it sustains it's value really well why don't you go mine drk then? because if the block reward is changed it's gonna do nothing except cause greater loss of value as people lose confidence in the dev/community of this coin. Thats not necessarily true. If it is done properly and carefully it can work. Nobody knows until its done. |

What would be the best and easy way to buy some BTC? Paypal would be great, but far as I know, only virwox.com allows that, but ridiculous high fees.

Adjusting algorithm to maintain the viability of the coin is not unreasonable and is certainly even commendable ...if it is done carefully and well thought out. This is all uncharted waters. |

Well the emotions are high but i think VTC should just continue its previous plan.
Stealth and next new ASIC resistant algo.
At least should not drift away much from original principles that it was founded on.
Shit just happens, VTC happens to be at the moment best coin to mine to get BTC and thats it.
There will be another victim soon to this.
And winner is the one that has most real world applications.

agree 99% (I kind of think delayed source code is unnecessary, what's gonna happen? price is gonna tank?  ). but really, price is dropping because vtc has been the most profitable coin to mine for months now, and it's been mined and dumped, and it's still the most profitable to mine. I will say it one more time.
You guys should fix the inflation before even thinking about financing a pump with p/r and such.
If you PR your stealth account and everything, you might be able to pump the price 2x or 3x but the price increase WILL NOT STICK.
There is 28k VTC produced EVERY day no matter what. Right now the inflation is
28000 x 0.0007 = 20 BTC per day which is already a lot.
If you pump there price 3x it will just be a miner's dream and an investors bull trap.
28000 x 0.0021 = 60 BTC per day.
This kind of inflation is not sustainable in the long term. You see this pattern over and over in the PoW coins.
The total market cap of VTC is ~4000 BTC right now, we should AIM for ~3% inflation per year, otherwise the smart money is not going to invest in this and the price will just drop until it reaches an equilibrium which is going to be way lower than this.
I believe the distribution of VTC has been more than fair and has been going for long enough. Now is the time to fix the inflation otherwise the bag holders are going to see their investment dwindle to 10-30% of their original investment.
Please , pretty please, consider this before spending 5000 VTC to pump the coin as I'm 100% sure it will not stick and you just open the door to current investor to get out of this mess cheaplyish.

Let's me summarize for you.
1. Scrypt-N ASIC, We have looking for another algorithm already. We have planed to implement it in GPU and CPU miner after we released Stealth Addresses.
2. Multiple PoW, In order to change to the new algorithm, it must be smooth transition as much as possible. We have planed to implement multiple PoW from Scrypt-N to the new algorithm. According to the plan, it will be Scrypt-N -> New Agorithm + Scrypt-N -> New Algorithm.
3. Multipool & Inflation, We still discussing the solutions with team members to find the best way to solve it, but it will do nothing until we released Stealth Address.
4. Stealth Address, It is in progressing.

With that being said, I personally don't think they should do a thing to the block reward. You bought at a higher price, too bad. Cheap coins and/or a large (according to inflation people) block reward allow for more people to get some coins, i.e. a broader distribution, which goes hand in hand with decentralization. It just feels scammy when "the devs" of any coin try to change the rules of the game to pump the price up short term. If you want a five minute rocket ride go jump on the next piece of shit PoS X11/X13 coin... He complained that the devs havent been saying anything, and I pointed out that they have been. Nothing more. We'll see what is decided. I personally want the block reward changed. If it is done carefully, the negative impacts can be mitigated. |

It is disturbing to read that adjusting coin minting rate is open to discussion. How would this be fairly achieved? Why would someone invest in our coin if we are arbitrarily adjusting network parameters to suit ourselves?
I see it (discussions) as a positive step to fix something that is inherently flawed from the beginning. Having said this, if it is done at all, you are absolutely correct; it has to be thought out very carefully and done right. But the discussion is good. |

0.001 is the threshold... no we are heading to 0.0005 (next threshold). Everything under this value equals DEATH.

every 24 hours 28800VTC are being created(correct me when i am wrong).
when you want to sustain a price at 0.0015 you will have to flood more than 40btc into the market to catch up with that inflation.
and you can be sure that miners are dropping their VTC directly to the exchanges.
I have been mining only VTC for two months and I plan to hold them. In fairness ymer, you are in the minority. As you know many miners need to take inherent costs into consideration and look for quick profit. This is why being a "miners only" coin is dangerous without other incentives to hold up demand. |
