161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin fading away? on: July 28, 2014, 06:50:35 AM
So linking Bitcoin to gold may be a good idea.

You got it backwards. Gold should be linked to bitcoin. I have no use for gold in my day to day life. With bitcoin, I can easily buy anything I need, pizza, cars, computers, etc. With gold, I can hide it in a safe and that's about it. It's not easily divisible. It's not easily transferred. It's generally useless in day to day activities.

I don't understand why it needs to be linked to anything? Can some people really just not get over the fact that not everything needs to be backed by something physical? Cash isn't either but people seem to use that ok. Gold is just not useful as a currency at all. Bitcoin is far better, but if you want to hold something physical buy gold instead.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No matter how much we love BTC, confirmations take way too long! on: July 28, 2014, 06:47:51 AM

<Reality check>
Merchants complete your sale 'almost instantly' with credit cards, and sometimes make you wait almost an hour when paying with BTC, which really does not work well in the real world....  better point of sale options are needed ASAP.

And they use payment processors... which is what you can use with bitcoin. Problem solved.

Jenna is probably about as much as a woman as you are - ie almost certainly not.

how quickly did you skim the the last page of the thread? she just posted a picture of herself with her username.... good enough in my book. don't take it to heart, jenna. we're a community full of money hungry internet geeks....

Oh, shit, of course, posting a picture with your username is 100% proof that he's a woman. You're a perfect example of why men pretend to be women on here because it's easy to scam white knights fawning over them.

LOL. what more do you expect? this is the internet.... and who is "fawning" over anyone? i was just pointing out the simple fact. and anyone dumb enough to get scammed over that will get scammed a million other ways as well.

Well you may not get scammed but seem to think a picture is proof of her gender so who knows what you'd fall for  Cheesy. And many people do fawn or fuss over anyone who claims to be female on here. Just look at the responses this user has had to her other posts already (and I wonder how many friendly PMs she's recieved lol). I always find it funny how many replies a welcome thread gets when the user has a female username as opposed to a regular user's thread  Grin.
164  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 24, 2014, 08:54:38 AM
Pay per activity is a terrible idea... Users that post more are worth more for a signature campaign --> more ad's placed

Not to mention it encourages buying accounts, if you only have to post say 50 times to receive the payout (which is likely ~1/2 the payout size for someone that posts a decent amount per month) than it would make the multi dipping signature users job much easier, just post 50x on each account and receive full payout on all of them instead of posting several hundred times to reach better payout.

What about making it works like a hybrid between pay per activity and pay per post:
If you have made 50 posts, you got X btc; if you have made 100 posts, you got Y btc; If you have made 200 posts, you got Z btc.

I think something like this would work best, but it depends what Stunna is aiming for with the change of system. He's going to have to find a balance if he wants to keep the level of exposure he has whilst cutting costs down (which is understandable and if that is his intention). I think looking at the other fixed payment deals and improving on them a little buy increasing the amount of payment and the number of posts you can do. 50 is fine for me, but I often do more as do many others. Interesting to see what he's planning.

166  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-24] Mt. Gox Trustee Will Consider Returning Bitcoin Unconverted on: July 24, 2014, 08:36:37 AM
Are they actually going to try refund everyone? Not sure where they can even get the money from to repay everyone. And surely they wont return it in bitcoin?
167  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-24] BitBeat: Bitcoin Price – Curiously – Gets No Boost on: July 24, 2014, 08:34:12 AM
I must admit it is both surprising and dissapointing that the price hasnt budged. It never seems to go up when we see good news but it almost certainly goes down when we get some bad news. Makes me wonder what it will actually take to get the demmand increasing again.
168  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-24] ZipZap Expands Bitcoin Buying Service to 34 European Countries on: July 24, 2014, 08:31:27 AM
Is this actually up and running in the UK? Last I read they ran into some problems and pulled the service whilst they got legal advice or something.

It's a 'legitimate' way to make money as long as you're paying capital gains, but ether your bank will accept it as proof you can pay back a loan is another thing. If you can prove a steady and regular taxed income then they might. And shouldnt thjis be in Legal?
170  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2014, 08:24:34 AM
Why is there no women in bitcoin? Well, there is, but it's the same situation as why there's very few women in construction etc. IF you really want more women involved just keep telling them as well as men about bitcoin and treat them no different.

JennaK -

Just skimmed your previous posts... Girls like you are one of the main reasons we women in this scene catch hell.

You know... there are a few sites out there where you can post your pics and get paid in coins.

But do us a favor while you're here, why don't you (I think I've earned the privilege to speak on the behalf of most ladies here): stop reinforcing the stereotype. Actually, what the hell are you doing on this site anyways? Oh, begging - never mind.

Jenna is probably about as much as a woman as you are - ie almost certainly not.

And before you think I'm dismissing this post because I must be some ugly chick (most girls think that way)... I'd shame you if I posted my pic; gorgeous and brains.

171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Address Monitoring Services - any risk? on: July 24, 2014, 08:19:48 AM
Based on how Bitcoin works, and your knowledge of the overall Bitcoin ecosystem, blockchain, addresses, wallets, hackers, etc ...

Is there any risk of entering your public addresses into a monitoring system, to make sure your balances are always there, and no coins are moving?

I don't see how entering your public address would be a problem, but what is the purpose of this? IF your coins do in fact move there's nothing you can do about it so it seems pointless to me.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mtgox money back ? on: July 24, 2014, 08:18:09 AM
I very much doubt anyone will get their money back. Where would they even get the money to pay people? I suspect their will be a lot of lawsuits after this debacle is over. And shouldnt this be in service discussion?

Again, not everyone uses social media. It's fine to update peiople there but it's not difficult for an update here as well.

If I made a campain i would make payout depending on where the posts are made, popular topics would count more

It is easy to say, but difficult to achieve... especially for a huge campaign like PD.

it's not dificult to program a bot

If I made a campain i would make payout depending on where the posts are made, popular topics would count more
It may not work though, people may be skipping their replies and you never know if they have taken a notice of it since there are too much replies. You wouldn't know which is the popular topic around, if you pay more based on that, people would just hang around the same thread and give replies.

and the bot could also could give less "points" to to post in one topic the more you post in it

You seem to be complicating this process more than it needs to be. How and who decides what is a popular topic? And why should people then be paid less for posting in popular topics. Doesnt make sense.

Primedice is going to start ONLY announcing happy hours on Facebook!

Please like our page to be notified when they're happening Smiley We'll also include small giveaways in the comments and fun stuff like that!

Page: https://www.facebook.com/officialprimedice

Don't miss out, like straight away! Smiley

To be honest, I prefer Twitter to Facebook.
Why don't you use both FB and Twitter for announcements and communication?  Huh

This. A lot of people are going to complain who don't have or use Facebook. I still think they should be announced here as well though as its the easiest way for everyone to notice.
176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal -> BTC on: July 23, 2014, 10:52:01 AM
You can buy the coins off ebay with paypal, but be prepared to pay a massive premium but thats the price you pay if you want to use it. Nobody will sell you coins for PP here though so you're just wasting your time so you'll need to find alternative ways. You can buy with cash and meet face to face on local bitcoins.

So Fastbluff are cancelling their campaign because someone complained? Doesn't seem right.

And the Anonymity deal is closed to all but Hero Members now.

“We shouldn’t marginalize women. We should just have more women on Bitcoin panels.”

The trouble with this is when they start bumping off respected and knowledgeable people just to try get any woman on the panel regardless of merit or knowledge. It happens all the time on comedy panel game shows when they need to fill their female pc quota so they end up putting any unfunny woman on who's available. I hope that doesn't sound sexist as I'm all for more women in both bitcoin and comedy (and it's good to see them cracking jokes here), but I don't think we should force these things. Women will get on board eventually but we dont need to treat them any differently.
