341  Other / Off-topic / Re: When will the USA go to WAR? on: May 01, 2014, 05:36:53 PM
What are you talking about? They're always at war with some country or another. Or do you mean one which they don't start or they actually get invaded?
342  Other / Off-topic / Re: Formula 1 engine sounds ........ on: May 01, 2014, 05:36:25 PM

343  Other / Off-topic / Re: Colonizing Mars on: May 01, 2014, 05:32:50 PM
It is an important distinction though. If you claim ground as sovereign territory, you can refuses to allow others to enter said territory, defend it, claim exclusive ownership of resources contained therein, etc. If you can't, then if country A sets up a "base" what's to stop anyone else from walking right into the middle of it and taking pictures, or digging a hole in the ground to mine some minerals?

If people have set up facilities there that essentially makes it theres, but that's probably how future wars will start.
344  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Raising children on: May 01, 2014, 05:24:44 PM
I don't think exposing young children to 'brutal' films at such a young age is a good idea. A good motto for raising kids is 'teach them how to think not what to think'.
This is the perfect advice you can give to parents for raising their kids!To many parents see in their kids the second chance in life ,and force them to do what they couldn't.A kid is an individual just as you ,is not a doll or a dog to train him!
i think sex is the bigger issue.. sure there's violence, but having sex shoved in your face at a young age is stupid. my cousin was watching lady gaga videos when she was 8.. kids look up to katy perry, beyonce, etc and try to emulate them.

Kids are exposed and sexualised far too early and having these pop singers as role models isn't very healthy. I wouldn't want my daughter dancing around like they do in these music videos.
345  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why does a religious body (church, temple, mosque etc.) require so much money on: May 01, 2014, 05:13:07 PM
God loves you but he needs your money.

That is why I have been saying all day long that religion was invented by some really intelligent people to make money from the less intelligent. The modern religions are perfect business models.

I don't think they were necessarily invented to make money, but most are now big businesses.

I would have to research the agreements but if memory serves, I believe basically it says that no nation can claim territory on a celestial body ie make a section of the moon or mars part of their sovereign nation.

See above. They don't need to 'claim' it officially, but it'll be whoever gets there first and settles a base or operation on it or whatever.
347  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: May 01, 2014, 05:09:54 PM
yeah comic book movies generally suck. it's all about action and no story. this is what, the 5th or 6th spiderman movie since the early 2000's?

Generally, but not when they're done right. I dislike most of them when they're just about crappy explosions and action sequences.

All you can do is keep hodling in that case lol. Know a few people who are in your situation though.
350  Other / Off-topic / Re: Colonizing Mars on: May 01, 2014, 03:13:54 PM
Thread resurrection.

What do you guys think about the current policies about governments not claiming territory on celestial bodies?

They don't need to officially claim them, but if theres anything valuable on them it'll just be who gets there first and extracts it.
351  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-29] ‘Dark Wallet’ Is About to Make Bitcoin Money Laundering Easier... on: May 01, 2014, 02:33:28 PM
Don't think that Government organizations won't be using it also, the CIA (Americas largest drug smuggling cartel) will love this  Wink Cheesy

I don't think they'll need to use it. They seem to be able to launder money just fine.

A night in Compton is by far the worst movie ever. I don't even know if it can be called a movie.

Never heard of it. Do you know where I can download it?

I really don't know. I rented it a few years back and it was the worst 3 euro's I ever spent in my life. Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EX5OPAsf9rs

What made you rent it in the first place? lol.
353  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's wrong with eating meat? on: May 01, 2014, 02:26:40 PM
You can't live without eat meat. You need proteins, if you don't eat meat you can't be healthy.

Unfortunately, this kind of ignorance is particularly widespread and pervasive in many places around the world.  You can do a little research and learn about the body and nutrition and you'll find out that the vast majority of the proteins used in your body are synthesized by your body.  There are 12 amino acids that you need to consume because you cannot synthesize them.  These 12 can be found distributed in many vegetable foods as well as in the bodies of other animals.

It's important to learn a bit about this stuff before you pass on rumor, I think.  Nutrition is an ongoing science, there's much we still don't know about how our own bodies work in relation to our consumption, but on the other hand, there's a lot that we do know so it's not helpful to spread known falsehoods.

There's always going to be ignorant people who have no interest in facts or enlightening themselves. It's pointless arguing with them really.
354  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much of a role does alcohol play in your lives? on: May 01, 2014, 02:25:46 PM
My Unlce died from drinking to much alcohol so thats another way alcohol affected me, Im sure someone here lost someone they love due alcohol

I have two of my relatives who died due to alcohol. The first was my uncle... who committed suicide under the influence of alcohol some 17-18 years ago. Then one of his sons died 10 years ago, after crashing his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was just 18 years old.. and had a bright future... but fate had something else in store.  Sad

It's sad but interesting that alcohol seems to run in families. I know several people who have followed in their fathers footsteps of drinking.
355  Other / Off-topic / Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. WTF? on: May 01, 2014, 02:24:34 PM
Well it is good there claiming to have some leads by now...  This is an embarrassing amount of time to have no real answers.

Who's claiming to have any leads? I haven't heard anything.

357  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: May 01, 2014, 02:14:15 PM
It seems like it is a trend right now in hollywood to have the movies either have open endings or unhappy endings
I think the reasoning behind that is simple:  if the movie is successful - they can make part 2 Smiley
Else, they can say they wanted it to have an open ending.

I don't think that's the case. I think most films have happy endings. They can always spin a sequel out no matter what happens.
358  Other / Off-topic / Re: Formula 1 engine sounds ........ on: May 01, 2014, 02:13:12 PM
Does the new sound not turn you on anymore and ruin your stroke?  Cheesy Why don't you mute the volume and make the engine noises yourself with your mouth instead?  Grin

LOL , some cars are very sexy, the sound is essential  Grin I'm not good with sound mimicking Cheesy

@ kuroman

Yes, the cars this season are very slow compared with previous seasons. But alteast people can't complain about Vettel winning nearly all races  Tongue

Is there a video comparing the sounds of the two, or maybe the sounds throughout the F1 history?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS4Dh_EAfJI

It's a huge change the sounds from 2013 and now 2014

Wow, I'm not a fan of forumla one but that is a big difference. The sound of the engines is kinda iconic and just doesn't sound right.
359  Other / Off-topic / Re: Oscar Pistorius case on: May 01, 2014, 02:11:39 PM
Interesting thoughts guys. Sadly I think being a rich white guy does play a role. If he were poor and black he might already be in jail. And if his girl friend was white, he might already be executed.  Undecided

It does play a part but he wouldntve been executed already. Does South Africa even have the death penalty?
