IOTA is in my top list, moreover Sweden is going to apply IOTA technology for creation of own crypto, so this positive news can lead to future growth. The only thing I don't like is 81 character secret phrase. just remember, 1 year ago something like 4 millions were stollen because people used online generators for secret phrase.

Sweden is no guarantee--there are a dozen projects still competing for the e-krona gig. If it was guaranteed, it would be priced in, and it's definitely not.

All cryptos have seed/keys that you need to access your funds, they would be useless otherwise. You can use the trinity wallet now if you are worried about creating your own seed--though why anyone would use a random internet site to create a seed and then not change characters on their own is beyond me--how do you invest in crypto without even knowing how it works? And let me be clear, I'm not talking about future users when a mass adoption event occurs, whenever that is (Bitcoin included), but the 99% of current crypto enthuists who are basing value on speculation and should at least know what they are investing in.

Didn't someone say something negative about iota?  I believe it was charlie?

He did say something about 6-8 months ago, but then claimed he didn't research it enough to know when called out on it--he did the same thing with Monero. Many early adopter celebs will run their mouth on twitter when coin's start making their way into the top 5. Boy who cried wolf has kicked in for most anyone who has been in crypto for more than a couple of years.

Great written article!  But don´t you think that whole internet of things can´t work in the future?
I am afraid of hackers, I think that they will be very dangerous for internet of things.

It's not IOTA's function to make devices secure, it's only to create a secure network for those devices to transact data or value. Qubic adds more to this, but still doesn't handle device security. Manufacturers of devices and developers still have to secure their own devices (as they do today with varying degrees of success).

IOTA and SinoPac sign a merorandom of understanding (formal partnership): https://blog.iota.org/iota-and-sinopac-team-up-to-collaborate-on-digital-innovations-in-the-financial-sector-53472176554d

SinoPac and the IOTA Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding coming into effect immediately. The two parties will collaborate [1] on exploring the new digital innovation landscape made possible by the IOTA Tangle technology.

SinoPac is one of the largest Taiwan-based financial holding companies which operate through the Asia Pacific. SinoPac, which has been exploring blockchain and distributed ledger technologies (DLT) is now collaborating with the IOTA Foundation to explore the IOTA Tangle, an open-source permissionless distributed ledger technology beyond Blockchain.

They're building a digital notary service.

Over the past months, SinoPac has been actively developing its notary solution iCertificate, which utilizes the IOTA Tangle and its data immutability. iCertificate is a notary certification service, which applies to all kind of digital documents in the public or private sector. To ensure data security and portal convenience, iCertificate creates the hash as a unique fingerprint and signs it with the issuer’s private key to encrypt the digital document, therefore mitigating the concern of leaking sensitive data. A QR code, paired with digital certification, will also be generated to ensure convenient customer experience. iCertificate is SinoPac’s solution to enable secure and fast and certification for a multitude of documents.

Probably the best non-math article I've read on describing how IOTA works in a generalized way in comparison to blockchain coins. There's also two more articles near the bottom for those who want to dig deeper into technical aspects of IOTA. I know 99% of speculators won't bother, but this is for rare person who wants to know how the thing works before they invest.

Yes, IOTA could be the next revolutionary thing that will bring all the world together. This ledger is entanglement and scalable, and this will be extremely helpful to the cryptocurrencies, on the one hand. IOTA will overcome challenges that Bicoin faces, on the other hand. Besides, IOTA has partnerships with leading companies like Microsoft.

Yes, IOTA is partnered leading companies like Bosch, VW, Fujitsu and organizations like the UN, but not Microsoft--they were a participant in the datamarketplace and the Microsoft rep gave IOTA a statement saying they were partners, but it turned out he was incorrect and there was a fallout (basically Bitcoin maximalist and Bitcoincashers trying to push the narrative, through oblivious or bias crypto media, that the IF had lied). That comedic episode taught me a lot about the scruples of people in this industry and how much worse some are than the corrupt powers-that-be they are claiming to replace. This whole market would probably be better off if those two groups disappeared as most of the infighting and dirty tactics starts there.

I know it has a big community which is certainly a good starting point but how longer will the community wait? It has been a while since they were working on resolving issues so the [product can be used standalone.

About as long as the community will wait for more suboptimal  scaling solutions such as eth's sharding or lightening network.

As far as M2M goes, it's literally the best chance and has a massive lead--most of their competitors don't even have their mainnet up.

I get the desire to FUD, but you should at least base your criticisms on reality. It's trying to solve a problem that has yet to be solved, so it takes as long as it takes. Sure, someone could beat them to the goal, but who?

I read an article that IOTA as an idea the project is great, but it's not working at the moment. And there are many nuances that do not allow to realize these technologies

You can go use it right now (MAM, token transfer and some other functions work today).

I'm guessing the article is more specific to a particular industrial use than your generalized statement or has to do with projected scaling (maybe link it, so we don't have to guess your meaning))--though I wouldn't be surprised if this is a bot, as the low quality content and repetitive nature would indicate. If it's a human, you need to up your game.

VW makes a pretty significant, official announcement about partnering up with IOTA, and... nothing. Last year when people were going crazy for crypto, a 'suggested' link with Microsoft caused prices to skyrocket. It just goes to show the state of mind of investors these days. A lot of people obviously got burned by the downturn in the markets!

Until people see VW's comitment, it's doubtful to move the market. The most recent example would be Hannover Messse with Fujitsu, anyone who was following understood Fujitsu would be pushing IOTA, but when speculators saw to what degree, the price moved accordingly. No one but VW and the IF know how much VW pushes IOTA at cebit, so Monday should be more telling.

Hi all,

There is a Telegram official IOST channel with ¬30K members at the moment (channel created in April already)

And promoted selfdrop to funds IOST projects. I checked reddit, IOST, google and haven`t found anything suspicious.
Therefore I send there ETH but have not received IOST tokens back.

Is it a scam or tokens will be distributed later?

Thanks!!!

No clue what IOST is, you should probably ask in one of their threads if they have one.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA is the next big thing on: June 08, 2018, 01:42:44 PM
IOTA will always be the best coin for speculation purposes because it has already been hyped a lot during the last few months, but in terms of "real" product, they are still not able to deliver one yet.

They've been making feeless tx for years, so that's better than most cryptos, which charge you for the priveledge of enriching miners. But as far as POCs with actual companies building protypes to work in the real world, IOTA is ahead of everyone, including ETH and BTC--you could probaly add up every POC for every coin and IOTA would still be ahead by a large margin. I don't mind your statement in a vaccuum, as there's a long way to go for IOTA to reach its goal of becoming an IOT standard, but when you fail to mention the competition isn't doing any better, you are making a convient double standard.
