IOTA seem to be promising things that aren't true.

Like what?

Nice to have opinions, but don't try to pass them off as facts.

723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 60k Moneroj. Will i be a millionaire by 2017? on: December 16, 2017, 02:11:32 AM
Clearly he didnt buy 60k xmr , or that could be a small amounT.
And if he did buy it , he surely sold it all last year or early 2017.
Hes not Roger ver  Cheesy , how can people hodl that long?

Because hopping from shitcoin to shitcoin is a waste of time and money. AFAIK Monero is the only (digital) cash.
724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA is the next big thing on: December 15, 2017, 11:48:29 AM
Will be exiting to see what happens with Iota in 2018. Maybe now is a good time to buy some?

You should determine that for yourself. What is your risk tolerance? How much exposure are you comfortable with? What chances do you see for Iota taking a percentage of the IOT market? How long is your time table?

725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 15, 2017, 11:22:48 AM
why you speak about a dump? i do not find any reason for this....instead i think we are going up from now again.
i bought more just because is cheap. i mean is better to buy at 242 from 270 or more later Smiley  i have coins from the time of 20 eur and less... since then i only buy...

just asking if guys here think there will be one.
im not saying there will be.

-_-

I get the feeling that no one knows how to price-in coinbase, or if they should--so...

Multisig and hardware wallet feel like they've been priced-in, just by how the market clicked up when those looked imminent. Was kind of suprised by the jump with coral reef as that was a terribly kept secret, so what do i know.
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Price Prediction 2018 on: December 15, 2017, 10:30:15 AM
It will fall now as the former ceo confirmed that Microsoft is just a participant and not a partner. No one has yet confirmed this news but it surely had a negative impact on the price atleast for now.

For long term hold if Microsoft is indeed a participant that would mean more companies might collaborate with them i have already purchase 100 iota maybe it might be profitable in the future.

Here's the whole story, please research more--getting annoyed at correcting this misinformation over and over and over again.

Someone should reopen the poll--it does not reflect the market and looks like it was sitting the shadows while deeponion shills voted with impunity, and THEN the poll was bumped to the top.

Sneaky, but in a stupid, obvious way.
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sell or hold IOTA? on: December 15, 2017, 04:44:48 AM
i suggest to invest on another coin. iota is a good coin but the reason significant increase that happen before cause people think they have partnership with microsoft.  i think so sad to know it were wrong and make the value drop so deep.

More research, less FUD:

730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sell or hold IOTA? on: December 15, 2017, 04:42:18 AM
Interesting... I  wish someone would explain the IOTA wallet a bit more as I think there would be more buyers of the coin if their full node/light node steps weren't so complicated or maybe if there was something like a Jaxx or Coinomi wallet.

Also Iota is loosing a bit of steam because of that article that apparently wanted to receive hits by saying they're in partnership with Microsoft. Once that got clarified I think that's why you're seeing a small dump on the markets. It will be short lived but others will get scared and think "ohh no it's a scam" and also dump their own coin.

Still that should iron itself out shortly as others takes advantage of the drop in price and join in the fray.

I've wanted some IOTA for days but their wallet is so damn confusing. Full Node? Light Node? Also it kept telling me I was offline. I just felt like should I really attempt to shapeshift a small amount for IOTA just for it to disappear because the wallet isn't connecting properly? That's the one thing that I feel would sink IOTA ....that damn wallet. I also don't feel safe holding any coins on an exchange at all really because you just never know when they'll decide "nah we're letting this coin go" and in a hasty fashion, you transfer out to a wallet that isn't set up or worse they just disappear right in the middle of a trade.

I still think IOTA is an interesting project I just want to make sure if I receive IOTA that it's actually going to be accessible with minimal issues that the average person with the right "basic steps" can figure out.

While agree that the wallet should be improved, you have to insert the caveat that the main development is on machine-to-machine tx, so their focus is on that and the data marketplace. They offloaded an upgraded wallet to a third party, so should be here soon. Just don't confuse them for a p2p coin--it's simply not their main market.
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA is the next big thing on: December 15, 2017, 03:12:28 AM
I dont think I will invest in IOTa anytime soon, I thought they will have a partnership with Microsoft but it was a false rumors...and they dont even try to deny it until the very end.

The marketcap of Iota is also very high already, you need to take a look at other IoT project, there are lots of them

BS, please read before you fall victim to more  FUD.

734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Price Prediction 2018 on: December 14, 2017, 04:12:05 PM
IOTA in my opinion can never be a sustainable investment as long as someone can hijack your IOTA coins. This is not a proper Blockchain, this is something different and I don't think it can be trusted. I purchased some IOTA a few months ago and spend 2 months trying to access my wallet. When I eventually got access to my wallet my balance was 0

After much searching it turns out that the IOTA foundation is minding (confiscated) my IOTA and there is some crap reclaim process that I followed to try and get my IOTA back. I still have not got them back. To me this seems like a scam.

Maybe you should try the reclaim process again--AFAIK most people haven't had any issues, though troubleshooting isn't really everyone's cup of tea.

You have to remember this is new software--bitcoin sucked when you could get it for $1.
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA Price Prediction on 2018 and in the Future on: December 14, 2017, 02:23:53 PM
Hi All, I wanna know that is that true that 1 Gi will be equivalent to 10 Bitcoins as biggest tech companies have adopted it?

Like Microsoft and Samsung

I think you are way ahead of yourself and AFAIK no companies have adopted Iota as yet--some companies are involved in a proof of concept data marketplace, so please lower the hype button.

Reverse Troll?
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Iota is going down on: December 14, 2017, 01:28:26 PM
I was surprised to see iota down, for some reason when iota is a good coin and can be a good coin for future investment. is the cause of this iota coin down? if there is any specific reason please I am given an explanation.

Microsoft was a small deal that got blown into a big deal that fudders turned to no deal giving iota a raw deal--but more than likely it is the market shaking out weak hands that needed an excuse to panic.

the microsoft big deal became too hyped in purpose, and now when someone says something that closer to truth from the "bad side" its FUD? :/
stop judging other people, judge your own coin behavior if yo uwant to know where this "FUD" comes from
im invested in few coins that have like zero fud .. and why is that? because they dont try to fool anybody

737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Verge Dying? on: December 14, 2017, 12:49:12 PM
Shitcoin through and through. Latched TOR onto itself and claimed it was more anonymous than any other coin, but failed to develop on-chain anonymity--the hard part. Only noobs who have no clue what's going on fell for it, so kudos for being smart enough not to invest.

No clue as far as market action--try to keep my analysis focused on the technology rather than timing the market.

Has any other coin developed on-chain anonymity at this point? I often wonder which of the privacy coins technically has the best anonymity.

Yes, monero, zcash, aeon... Most coins attempt to do on-chain anonymity --with varying degrees of success.

FUD spread, price dropped. ...now it is a fucking huge opportunity to go in.

I already own some thousands of IOTA but will get some new now!

GREAT Smiley

It's trading at around $3.68 on Binance right now. Great opportunity if you believe in the coin.

But can someone explain to me the whole Microsoft deal? They announced the partnership but apparently it was never confirmed? I don't know much about it and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight.

This is the twitter thread between the Iota team and the writers of the article. Basically, Microsoft wasn't a full investment partner as some had thought (though they could have checked before jumping to that conclusion) and someone wrote an article saying that it was a lie, which isn't true either as the Microsoft media given to Iota stated "partner"--it's a case of hype vs fud--they both have points, but what the writer originally wrote was taken down after David contacted Iota's lawyers.

740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My (pessimistic) theory on the future of crypto on: December 14, 2017, 05:54:25 AM
Bitcoin lost the last man standing argument when it decided to go mainstream and not pursue privacy. There was a failure to acknowledge that blockchains are best suited for censorship resistant tx--it may be (somewhat) decentralized, but traceability means that tx can be monitored and refused or held until exchanges get approval from an authority. There are far better solutions for normal tx (scale, speed) and also for censorship resistant tx, Bitcoin is poor at both. You can say lightening network will fix these issues, but that is a ways off and second layer solutions  are less efficient than layer one solutions--it's just a hoop to jump through to get where you want to go.

Good point on the privacy factor. But regarding scale and speed, I would say that we there isn't a need for scale and speed right now or in the future. I don't really care to pay for my coffee with Bitcoin. It's as if there was a need for lamborghini or rolls royce to figure out how to make their cars 100,000x faster. It just wouldn't happen. Not everyone can afford lambos and rolls--only rich people buy them and the rate and the price is just fine for them. As with Bitcoin, it'll be for people with lots of money doing business internationally and needing a medium to transfer the funds. At that point, I wonder if privacy is even necessary or warranted because if you're transfer large amounts of money, it's a bad idea to do it for illegal reasons (hence the need for privacy).

Corporations, governments, istituional investors, militaries, etc, do not want their finances being examined by anyone, domestic or foreign. As far as private citizens, would you want your net worth being analyzed by criminals or the media or even a family member who has a lot of ideas to pitch, but can't ever bankroll them himself--

You can even ask Andreas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO2UOhGEC_A&feature=youtu.be&t=1070
