I believe the historic Gold:Silver price ratio is 16. Currently it is much higher. But if there is more available silver than gold, and inelastic demand, I wonder if someday the price difference could reverse? Has silver ever been more valuable than gold? I don’t think so. Should/Could it be? Logic suggests maybe. Of course, applying “Logic” to markets is problematic.

Should we be looking at junk silver too? Sliver Wheaton, anyone?

Make sure the seller funds the transaction (ie; sends the coins to localbitcoins in escrow) so that you are protected by the escrow service. It costs (the seller) 1%, so it's totally worth it for the peace of mind. Meet in a safe public place (Cafe or Library) with wi-fi, and the seller needs to have either a cell, or preferably a laptop.

The seller sends the coins to an escrow account on localbitcoins, and is given a release code that only you know after he releases the coins to your account. Which he does after counting your money. Very relaxed process.

I think that if you wish, localbitcoins can also send your cell an SMS when the coins have been released to your account, but I haven't actually used this, because if the seller knows the release code, the coins are now yours.

I'm not sure I need secrecy. But once I give it up, it's GONE, BABY. So I'd like to keep it just in case. Bitcoin transactions are not the only things that are irreversible.

I can run linux - Barely. Of my friends, about 15% could do the same. But I'm not sure I could use Bitcoin while running Linux. Guess I'll have to give it a try. Still, if we can't have secure BitWallets while running Windows on internet connected machines, how can I expect the 85% to adopt Bitcoin? The barriers remain a bit too high for widespread adoption, I think. Hope this changes. Is membership in teh Geek species mandatory? Am I offbase? Are we DOOMED?
