161  Economy / Economics / Re: Can CBDC users lose control of their money? on: July 30, 2023, 09:45:35 PM
CBDCs are just enhanced fiats, it's no doubt better than fiats and it would help to checkmate some the recurring issues in the financial sector. For example, there are no fake CBDCs so the issue of counterfeits would be put to bed, it would help to cut down the large budget or expenses needed to print cash and would also come handy in checkmating tax evasion. Aside the above mentioned point, I don't really see much it has to offer. CBDC is centralized, thus it's going to be used as a tool by the authorities to manipulate the masses. With CBDC, you are not in custody of your funds, the government can track, freeze or transfer your digital currency at any time.

You say that CBDC is better than cash because it's cheap to make and helps prevent tax evasion... This is some strong left propaganda that I'm reading, worthy of an authoritarian socialist.

On one hand we go green, no more trees being cut and all that crap, except that money isn't made from paper... On the other hand we control the money flow, know what you buy, where and when. If you by any chance decide to go against us, you'll have your money taken away. No more protesting or you'll have to beg for food and even others won't be able to send you money because we'll block your personalized account. They'll have to buy food and give it to you.

CBDC is in serious breach of basic human rights to privacy and being able to support whatever parties and organizations they choose.

It took some time to get it, but it finally came last week.
I had no time to post about it because I spent the whole month traveling, but here goes:

Thanks Betnomi! ❤️️

I was on holidays and just came back and noticed it.

Thanks for my new rank and keep it up, Ratimov.

You're doing great work here.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The hypocrisy of the UK on Cryptocurrency on: July 24, 2023, 08:05:17 PM
I think the UK government strengthened the rules because of the FTX incident; this is a lesson learned. We should select some secure exchanges like Coinbase and Bitget.
The FTX incident likely raised concerns about security and regulation. It’s crucial for users to prioritize safety and use reputable exchanges like Bitget.

If they haven't blocked that exchange yet, it doesn't mean it's because of its reputation, but because it's too small for them to worry about.

I see only 3 ways for smaller exchanges under this jurisdiction.

1. They keep being small and working under the radar
2. They agree to surveillance, KYC, everything and apply for paid licenses basically letting the government track every transaction that goes through.
3. They keep growing and once they become big enough, get ready to pack their bags and flee before the agencies can raid them and shut them down.

All the red is green!  Cheesy   Grin  Cheesy   Grin   Cheesy

My friend is color blind and that's how he sees things. He uses yellow candles Cheesy

If you're not a day trader the price is still the same. It used to be thirty thousand something yesterday and it's still thirty thousand something today.
166  Economy / Gambling / Re: Impossible KYC Requirements - Stake.com - Withholding $6000 USD on: July 04, 2023, 10:16:30 PM
I just noticed that Stuna made a comeback today after months of inactivity! He actually responded to several discussions about the accusations against Stake casino. Maybe he missed this particular topic.

Honestly, it'd be great to hear what he has to say and get an official statement from Stake on this whole case. His input could shed some light on things.

Maybe it had something to do with these accusations piling up?
I feel like this is a serious topic that shouldn't be ignored.

Imagine that you wager a million dollars and have a few hundred thousand on your account and get denied withdrawal because you happened to use a VPN one time.
Topics like this one could keep wealthy players away from the casino.
167  Economy / Gambling / Re: Impossible KYC Requirements - Stake.com - Withholding $6000 USD on: July 01, 2023, 07:18:31 PM
To me, op clearly broke the rule, VPN usage is something most casino heavily frown at, if this was some other casinos, by now, they probably would have closed OP's account and confiscate the fund in it, but then, I personally  I'm pleading with Stake to please tamper justice with mercy.

Ok, he did that but... and it's a big but Tongue

He wasn't banned.
His account was not suspended
He wasn't told that they are investigating his VPN use case.

He was told to provide KYC documments, that's all. He complied and was told it's not enough.
Literally they wanted his utility bill and he gave them that and they rejected it because it wasn't recent, so he sent another one, this time recent, and they demanded something else, like a proof of payment. They are obviously trying to delay everything and it's not as simple as a VPN use.

It's clear he was able to prove his identity and place of residence by showing his friggin passport and registering an account from Thailand without the VPN.
168  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Equal society is possible.... on: June 29, 2023, 09:22:00 PM
As per law all Humans are equal. That is the law, regardless of skin color, gender, intelligence...
In praxis the situation is a laugh or should we say a tragedy of disregard of law. Per Law no moderator is allowed to delete a post. A equal can not delete another equal's post. Paternalism requires a court to act

You're wrong about that. We can be all seen as equal by the law, but law is not a single paragraph. There's also things like private property.

If moderators were unable to delete a post on their own platform due to equality laws, you also wouldn't be able to throw someone out of your property. If posts are permanent and untouchable, so is art, but what is art? If I paint a mural on your wall without asking, do you have the right to repaint it? After all you'd be destroying my work and we are equal.

Moderating forums has nothing to do with equality, or the lack of it.

170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think it's still wrong selling properties for Bitcoin? on: June 26, 2023, 07:38:31 PM
Selling properties to invest in Bitcoin is never a good idea. You got your profits because the market was favorable towards you.

I don't agree.
When it comes to bitcoin, 90% of its existence it was favourable to investors. It's like playing a dice game where only by rolling 1 you lose and all the other numbers are wins.

Quote
This won't be the case every time. Bitcoin investment carries a great risk.
Not that great if you consider the risk of holding stocks or money in a bank.

Selling properties for bitcoin is a great idea, just try not to do it at the top. How do you know when the top is? The general idea is to try not to buy bitcoin when there's recently been a halving and bitcoin is up by a lot, at least 100% above the last ATH because you either are buying at the top or you're buying close to it. Buying in the bear market is generally safe.
For example, if you bought whenever in the last 12 months, you'd maybe be down 5% today but rather up more than 20%.
171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling, investment, stocks..... on: June 25, 2023, 08:08:45 PM
I don't see a viable reason to invest in stocks at all, so I wouldn't choose a casino stock.
I'd also never choose a casino token, simply because I don't invest in altcoins, but if that's your thing, you can try it.

I don't do it because I have a limited amount of money dedicated to investments and I chose to play with things that I like and understand well, and that's bitcoin.
Since bitcoin is performing so good, I don't need anything else. If we were going down, I'd be stacking bitcoin, and in a bull market I'd be living off profits. I don't need additional burden of a stock market.
172  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Investors Confidence in Bitcoin💪 on: June 22, 2023, 09:15:09 PM
Congratulations on getting a part of one of the best assets in the world. If not the best.

Don't wait for a price to sell because you will be disappointed. It will either end in you selling to early in the bull run, or holding on for too long and regretting.

Ask yourself what will make you comfortable? Maybe redeeming your fiat money and still having the amount of bitcoins you own? In such case wait for bitcoin to go up by 100% and sell 50% of your holdings. Maybe you need a certain amount of fiat to buy a house? Maybe you want a retirement fund?

Make sure whatever you do you stand behind that choice and it will all be fine.
173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 21, 2023, 08:33:33 PM
That's what I've read in at least 2 separate articles. Once the crew is inside the hatch is screwed on top and they cannot get out unless someone unscrews it. This means if they resurface and aren't found they'll die anyway.

Another strange thing is they don't have any electrical or air wire connecting them to the ship on the surface. They cannot be pulled out and they cannot be powered if they lose power.
174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 21, 2023, 08:22:00 PM
OT:

The survival chances for Tinan's passengers are a mere 1%, and even if they are located, the likelihood increases only to 15%.

We currently lack the capability to rescue anyone in such a scenario.

That makes me wonder are we ready for the space exploration? How can we venture into the vast unknown when we haven't fully explored our own backyard?

I've read they had a safety mechanism in form of a timer that drops ballast automatically and makes the vessel go to surface.
They also had an inflatable balloon thing that they could use to resurface if there was no power or there was engine damage.

There's a chance they have resurfaced and are drifting somewhere waiting to be found but even if that's the case will die from lack of oxygen tomorrow because they can't open the hatch from the inside.

If I make to that year I would be 83 years old.

If will be fun to see how things are by then.

I hope you'll be coming here despite being 83. I know a number of people older than 80, so you have decent chance.

I wasn't expecting bitcoin to launch like that today. It needed some time to digest the blackrock news, I guess.
A lot of resistance above 30k. This candle is going to do some poking before it finally goes through the ceiling.

Congratulations Pixie85 and many thanks for this pizza contest at all.
Looking forward to next years contest (I'll be back with you) and hopefully with some slightly modified rules for the voting.

I actually don't know if I should celebrate because icopress has yet to confirm that the giveaway is over.

But anyway, it was fun and I've eaten my fill of delicious pizza Cool

Don't wait for another pizza day to get your treat. You can have a pizza day every week.  Smiley
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto another form of gambling? on: June 21, 2023, 11:12:29 AM
Crypto can be understood in a number of ways and I don't like this word because it's too general.

Some ETH tokens are sometimes called gambling tokens and the exchanges that offer them are called crypto casinos. For instance HEX is a total worthless shitcoin, but has a good number of followers who don't get that. Another good example of gambling tokens were coins that included the name bitcoin in them just to pump the price like "bitcoin turbo koin" that most people don't even remember.

At the same time bitcoin is often included in this group of "cryptos" and it shouldn't be because although it is a cryptocurrency it's fully decentralized, without an issuer and a CEO standing behind it.

179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does ranking not guarantee post quality? on: June 20, 2023, 11:06:46 AM
How can you tell if it’s quality post or not when you have not exposed yourself in the forum for long? I believe e everyone of us here has its own concept and perspective in each thread in the forum, and what we say or post depends on how knowledgeable we are, and not on the rank or position. However, there’s always an edge if you have higher rank or position since you are more exposed to how the market works and mastery is there. Thus, making high quality post is more possible than to expect for some newbies to do it.

Maybe OP saw some posts that weren't making sense in the discussion, or were off-topic. It's pretty much the forum reality where high ranked accounts posts in mega threads because they need that 1 or 2 posts to make their campaign quota for that week.

If you want to find something in a large group like this one, you will eventually find it.
Choose what you want, a spammer, a plagiarizer, a high ranked newbie, low ranked professional, someone who is 16 years old, someone who is 60. I don't see anything worth complaining about.

That was close Cheesy
I don't expect to get that lucky in the next one.

Edit:
Then I scrolled to read the next post and it's a surprise for sure. Blocks must love 5s

My condolences to Pixie85.... the prize for the top 10 raffle (A Ledger Nano X, right?) seems like such a thing that no one, who is anyone who deserves to have nice things, should want to have.. especially since your coins do not seem secure in such a thing that the company had even admitted that it was not secure (that they could move your coins if they were to update the firmware.. but that you have to trust that the firmware has not already been updated with such a backdoor... since it is closed source)... ..

I suppose that there could be wishes that the company is just communicating badly - or if you are a shitcoiner, then maybe you are already predisposed to gambling with where you hold your value.. since shitcoins can be rugpulled from you anytime anyhow.. so yeah, maybe hold shitcoins there.. but even with holding shitcoins there, I would still hate to log into my wallet and not find the "digital assets" there that I thought that I had.. ...

I would not want to be putting they private keys to any BTC into a device that I erroneously believed was "cold storage" and it really is not "cold storage."  Maybe treat it as a hot wallet, rather than a cold storage wallet might be a solution....and therefore ONLY put very small amounts of value on that device..  perhaps that could be a kind of solution that you would not lose any sleep over the security of the coins that you hold on that device?

I already have a nano S and I haven't updated it when they added that recover option or whatever they're calling it. I guess the backlash is big enough to make them turn this into an optional update, or they'll go bankrupt because no big investor will choose them over devices that cost the same and offer more protection like trezor.
On their page they say that it's optional and you have to enable the recover option to have the key sent to a third party. That's the first time I'm reading about it because I have not touched my wallet for the last 3 months. I hope the spiders didn't make a nest or something.

A hardware wallet still makes a nice gift to popularize bitcoin among friends and family even if you're to scared to use it yourself. I wouldn't hold a million dollars on it, but someone who wants to start investing and spend less than a thousand bucks to own some bits and learn to use the system can still choose ledger. Furthermore, I've read they did some changes and are going to make the update open source.
