If Bitcoin is "expired" then how can "Europeans scared of losing their cash be turning to Bitcoins instead?"
There are hundreds of people that received something that cost like a bit more of a thousand dollars and that make like 60GH/s No cpu, gpu or fpga can do that. You think it is not an ASIC? Then it must be alien technology

Did you backup the blockchain.info wallet?
Fail article. I wonder why The Economist hate bitcoin so much
But If I paper backup my wallet (so only one address), then I spend some BTC, if I restore my paper backup, spent BTC will still be there, is that what you are saying ?
No! I am saying the opposite. You have 1 address, you receive some BTC. You spend some of these BTC to buy something. Most client will put the BTC you didn't spend on a NEW address, for anonimity purpose. But the paperwallet is just basically a private key right ? Yes "change" in bitcoin world is the btc you don't spend when sending some. I don't know about blockchain.info 7. I have trouble to understand the differences (if there are) between wallet (as wallet.dat) and addresses. wallet.dat contain private keys. Each private key correspond to an address. 8. Why wallet files differ from bitcoin client ? Easier for the different client's developers
which is your wallet private key NO The address is the public key, used to receive coins, and only that. The private key is used to send coins and you should never share it! The bitcoin client and multibit don't show private keys in the client anyway. Is that all correct? Except the thing i said before, yeah, to receive bitcoins yup, you have to check under Request, there are listed the addresses of that wallet.

Hard? Well if the spike last only for some minutes because then other people sell and the price drop... you must sell before them. But as you see the price settled at like 57, so selling at 57 now isn't hard

You forgot: - Cypress - NZ - Italy
All three countries are planning or attempting to plan to confiscate a percentage of their citizens' savings accounts. People in those countries are going to be fleeing the national currencies like a bat out of Hades, you just watch.
You're out of your fucking mind if you think people who would be effected by that have any idea Bitcoin exists. This is a self fulfilling price, people have an idea of what Bitcoin is worth therefore they won't let it reach below a certain point. Bitcoin has little to no practical and no tangible value. There is no reason it should be at this price. So no one on this forum lives in Italy? Italian here Problem is, the reason why the PIIGS nations are in a bad shape is related to why so few people from these countries are in bitcoin. Less people using internet, less people willing to inform, and so on. People here keep voting fail politicians too! What to you expect from us?

Indeed. In fact that's another complaint. It doesn't even explain properly why you *should* upgrade.
The code is open source, check it and you will discover why

What is wrong? Price went from 57 to 62 and then back to 59, it is what happened, it is not a bug
Ok, lag is a problem, but the price swing is fine

1) Since there are bitcoins that should not be there right ? The wallet contains private keys, not "bitcoins". So no it doesn't get corrupted. It will show the updated value. 3)Yeah 4)Yes if you make backups of your blockchain.info wallet and if you use their browser extension so you don't get a hacked javascript 5)What about the paperwallet has another address? Like, you make a paperwallet with a new address and send the coins there from blockchain.info, so blockchain.info never saw that key 6)there are some softwares somewhere in the forum Note: if you spend some of your bitcoins most clients will send the "change" (bitcoins not spent) to a NEW address. As Largo said, by default wallet.dat file has 100 hidden keys, so usually it is not a problem (unless you make for example 110 transactions and then you restore your old wallet.dat... surprise) But if you make a paperwallet, then you spend some of the bitcoins on that address, most clients will send the change to another address. But the paperwallet, well, it of course is only 1 key

I can't withstand bureaucratic writing. Can anyone make a sum-up?
"attack on bitcoin"

Different names for the same thing: fiat money. Banks, credit cards, paypal etc... it is all the same, and everyone of course want a slice of the pie Bitcoin is totally different Do you think they are fighting for a good solution? They fight for a bigger slice of the pie, of course

Does this mean that I don't have to use the same machine? No, why? The wallet is just that, a wallet. It contains the private key. If you put the wallet.dat in the roaming/bitcoin folder and then you start bitcoin-qt, it will read that wallet and let you use it. Having Bitcoin-QT running on multiple machines, can I take the saved wallet.dat and open it with ANY machine running the same version of Bitcoin-QT? Of course yes And if it wasn't encrypted, could that burglar with a copy of wallet.dat open it on any machine with Bitcoin-QT and shoot the money over to silkroad or something?
Yes The wallet.dat file contains the private keys, if they aren't encrypted and someone steal them, of course they will have them and will be able to do what they want with your bitcoins

Bitcoinpro, what are we going to do tonight?

Bitcoin is a currency like dollars Mmhh.....

Mining and selling mined coins does not make me a fucking MONEY TRANSMITTER. Am i a money transmitter when i mine and sell gold? No. Same for bitcoin, because it is digital gold.
Oh and let's create Bitcoinland and make bitcoin legal tender there, so it is no more "virtual currency"
Does this means we are now on the "they fight you" phase?

I think the meme is perfect. Its a fucking annoying nerd who got in before you taunting you with the knowledge that if you only had your money in bitcoins you would be better off. You just want to kick him in the teeth. But you can only be mad at your self because you know hes right.
