It doesn't appear withdrawals or deposits are working on the PoloniEx exchange. This seems to have started after the DNotes market was down for a day or two, a few days ago. So it could be a simple problem such as the blockchain didn't update. As soon as we know more, we will let everyone know.

Hello everyone .
i have bought DNotes in poloniex when it was at a high price (~ 0.000068 btc) Undecided.
and hold that hoping to raise and make some profits .
as you know it didn't worked out .
now price is ~ 0.000019 ... and it doesn't look like to go up soon .
i dont know if its a good time to sell but i really need mony for the next week.
so what do you think ? should i sell my DNotes ... will be there a pump ? what about DNotes v2 .. will that raise the price ? ...
i don't know what to do ... i already lost more than 70%...! Cry
i really appreciate any advice.
thank you very much.

Hi Kelly and welcome to the DNotes forum. It's always an uneasy feeling when the price drops, even when you know these ups and downs come with the cryptocurrency market. DNotes has not copied the strategy (or should I say lack of strategy) of other currencies with their rush to over-inflate the price with no intrinsic value to back it. We are building the infrastructure you would normally find only in a profitable corporation to back the value of DNotes. This is where DNotes Global Inc will set DNotes apart from the entire industry.

DNotes is also following a more traditional path, in that we have promoted long-term savings from day one, and have never participated in any kind of 'pump' activity. There isn't a lot of DNotes for sale on the market, so when someone comes along that knows how to analyze an investment in the cryptocurrency sector, they have no problem making a big $ buy. This can drive the price up in the short term. 6800 satoshis or 1900 satoshis doesn't matter at this point, it's all just pennies, and DNotes is backed by more value than the majority of the coins that are sporting 'marketcaps' (term used loosely) in the hundreds of millions.

DNotes2.0 isn't the pump, it's the future of cryptocurrency. It's tough when you are short of money, and even though you are free to sell whenever you want (awesome feature of cryptocurrency investing!), if you can afford it, try to hang on to some of your DNotes for the future...  Wink

Thank you Chase and welcome to the DNotes forum Kelly. Thank you for your confidence in DNotes. We are happy to help in any way we can and answer your questions. Officially we cannot provide investment recommendations, but a good general rule is not to invest more than you can afford to lose. Our goal is to create value for DNotes stakeholders, but nothing is guaranteed.

I've noticed the past couple days on Poloniex, Mr. Spoofy has been really active.  It's to a point, no one can trust what the true price is.  Spoofy has pretty much taken over the DNotes exchange.  I've put in a support ticket, but maybe you guys have more pull to have this stopped/minimized..somehow?

Hi Denver Dan, to clarify, is it the markets at the PoloniEx exchange? There is a constant flux in the markets primarily due to speculative trading and would be difficult to attribute it to any one thing or individual trader.

Tried to read as much as I can on Dnotes 2.0. I'm planning to support DNotes 2.0 once it switches to PoS. I don't support PoW as it's too much a waste of energy and causes too much strain on computer hardware and bandwidth consumption (Just my personal view).
1. DNotes 2.0 will be PoS with 2.0% ROI per annum, is it correct? Any minimum number of coins that would be suggested to get a good return?
2. Any plans for a MasterNode model for a long term lock of coins? I will support this but would like to get info on the minimum coins required so I can prepare.
3. From DNotes to Dnotes 2.0, We will just send the old Dnotes and we'll be given a Dnotes 2.0 - 1:1 exchange. Is this correct?

Welcome Zero1One0, POS target will be 2% annual, which will vary based on number of people (coins actually) staking.

In addition, there is a 2% targeted reward for coins at addresses for a minimum of 30 days. This will become part of the enhanced CRISP (Cryptocurrency Investment Savings Plan) model.  We are considering a yearly savings reward as well. This CRISP reward structure will not require a masternode like system, there will be no minimum, and there will be no lock out (only forfeited reward for early withdrawal).

To give a really rough estimate with a fair amount of assumptions, 50,000 DNotes would allow you to stake daily, and 5,000 DNotes would allow you to stake weekly.

Yep, old DNotes will be sent in you will be given DNotes 2.0. All accounts at DNotesVault will be swapped automatically, anyone who wishes to send them there without worry of issues or keeping track of when the swap happens. There will be a notification for DNotesVault account holders, to remove their DNotes from the DNotesVault if they do not wish to swap to DNotes 2.0. There will also be notification when the swap has occurred.

Thank you for the questions, we are happy to help clarify information for the community and if you have any more questions or need further clarification just let us know.

Is new wallet release still set for september? I am excited to stake dnotes.

Hi FogHorn_LegHorn, we are all excited about DNotes 2.0! We are on track for September. We are also committed to ensure DNotes 2.0 is completely ready and fully tested before releasing it, which will likely be late September.

PoloniEx is also going to include Bitcoin Cash.

BITCOIN CASH UPDATE

We've received several inquiries about Bitcoin Cash (BCH) since the fork on 8/1/2017. Our hesitation to immediately support BCH or any other Bitcoin (BTC) derivative was and is born out of the desire to ensure the security of network operations and the safety of our users' tokens.

We will be crediting users who had BTC in their account balance at the time of the fork with matching BCH. We expect this to occur on or before 8/14/17. Keep in mind that we have not yet determined if we will be listing BCH as a market on Poloniex nor can we commit to supporting BCH withdrawals right away. The ability to withdraw BCH will depend on network stability which is completely outside of our control.

We appreciate everyone's patience on the matter.

DNotes 2.0, Not a hard fork? No leprechaun coins?

Watching bitcoin fork into bitcoin cash as well, has made me think more about the upgrade to DNotes. I know that this is something that is well planned and part of the road map. Because it is coming from the team behind DNotes, it also has full consensus, so I'm pretty certain that it won't work like a fork. But it does make me wonder how it will work.

If I have a wallet address that people are paying DNotes into, what happens after DNotes 2.0 is implemented?

1) If someone pays DNotes 2.0 into it, before I've converted the value in the wallet to v2.0, will the two values add up or will they somehow sit side by side in the same address? Or will the address be duplicated?

2) If people have trouble early on the v2.0 wallet, pulling the value of v2.0 coin down, could I trade v1 coins for extra v2.0 coins with them?

3) If some nodes continue to run with v1 forever, will DNotes v1 still be trade-able forever?

4) Will any extra v2.0 coins be mined as part of the implementation of v2.0?

5) Will v2.0 be starting a new chain, or will it be a change in information stored in subsequent blocks on the original chain?

6) Will I be able to run an old DNotes node, and a DNotes 2.0 node from the same computer?

7) What happens to the old DNotes that get swapped 1 for 1 with the v2.0 notes? It's not like old currency that can be destroyed.

I'm sure that once these questions are answered, it will generate more questions.

Great set of questions TimMarsh. Some answers will overlap.

DNotes 2.0 will be an entirely new coin, and completely separate entity from the technology perspective. Just how DNotes and Bitcoin are two separate coins today. The swap process will consist of sending us your old coins, relinquishing them entirely to us, and we will send you new coins from the new DNotes 2.0 blockchain.

1) You could add DNotes 2.0 to a DNotes 2.0 wallet prior to converting your old coins, and once we send you the DNotes 2.0 coins as part of the conversion process it will add to your existing balance.

2) It will always be a 1 for 1 swap, no matter the value of either DNotes or DNotes 2.0.

3) Yes technically DNotes will run forever, if no one mines it for 10 years, then someone decides to mine it again, it will pick right up where it left off.

4) No extra coins will be mined. There will be a snapshot of the DNotes Blockchain, at a specific point (to be specified later), and all coins from that snapshot can be converted to DNotes 2.0. That snapshot will determine the initial amount of DNotes 2.0 that need to create for distribution. This will be coordinated with the exchanges to ensure DNotes will be shut down and coins can be moved off of the exchanges prior to the snapshot (there are multiple options here depending on exchange response but we don't anticipate many obstacles).

5) New chain.

6) Yep, absolutely.

7) All DNotes that were swapped into DNotes 2.0 will be in the possession of the DNotes team. We are not anticipating that anyone would pick up and run with old DNotes when they could just create their own version, if they did want to start with our user base, and thinking off the top of my head, I might suggest they attempt a fork from a point prior to our snapshot.

Keep the questions coming! They are very helpful.

Looks like Coinbase is going to provide access for customers to Bitcoin Cash.

In the case of bitcoin cash, we made clear to our customers that we did not feel we could safely support it on the day it was launched. For customers who wanted immediate access to their bitcoin cash, we advised them to withdraw their bitcoin from the Coinbase platform. However, there are several points we want to make clear for our customers:
Both bitcoin and bitcoin cash remain safely stored on Coinbase.
Customers with balances of bitcoin at the time of the fork now have an equal quantity of bitcoin cash stored by Coinbase.
We operate by the general principle that our customers should benefit to the greatest extent possible from hard forks or other unexpected events.
Over the last several days, we’ve examined all of the relevant issues and have decided to work on adding support for bitcoin cash for Coinbase customers. We made this decision based on factors such as the security of the network, customer demand, trading volumes, and regulatory considerations.
We are planning to have support for bitcoin cash by January 1, 2018, assuming no additional risks emerge during that time.

And... just like that, Bitcoin Cash has a 10.9 billion dollar, #3 seat on CoinMarketCap:

It is astounding. This will be an important period in the history of digital currency. Following along closely to see how it all plays out.

Good morning Dev team...just FYI

NOTE is currently under maintenance or experiencing wallet/network issues. Deposits and withdrawals will remain disabled until a solution is found, which may require an update from the NOTE team. Any updates must be tested and audited before enabling.

-Poloniex

Thanks Denver Dan, beat me to it, hah! I have been waiting for this to happen as I noticed coins have been going down a couple at a time over the past few weeks.

It's because I went there today to buy some NOTEs, just my luck, happens everywhere!  Grin

DNotes re-activated on PoloniEx now.

There is no apparent problem with the network and they have not contacted us for any issues. This is a general message PoloniEx uses for when the wallet is down or taken down for maintenance.

Study Suggests 57% of Large Corporations Considering Blockchain

https://dcebrief.com/study-suggests-57-of-large-corporations-considering-blockchain/

This is a really surprising statistic. I've worked as a consultant to a few large corporations, and I don't see them as the early adopters. In my experience, the larger the organisation, the slower it is to adopt new technology. Even their operating systems are typically 5–10 years behind the current version.

If the article had said that 57% of large corporations are considering migrating their shabbily aggregated Excel sheets into a coordinated online database, I'd have still been surprised. But the idea of them seriously considering implementing blockchain technology is just too much for me to swallow.

And then there's the cost benefit to consider. Blockchain is fantastic at providing an immutable ledger of records when sufficient independent peers exist. But it is not a good solution for high traffic, fast response relational databases. In fact, the requirement for a number of blocks to be calculated before a database record can be considered 'written' makes it practically useless as a replacement for existing multi-user database services.

I had a look at their website:
https://www.juniperresearch.com/researchstore/commerce-fintech/blockchain-enterprise-survey/deployments-benefit-attitudes
to see what methodology they used to get a random selection of respondents. But it doesn't mention it, and I'd have to buy the report to find out if it was worth buying.

And I am forced to assume that the vast majority of them are considering private block chains, because the public are really unlikely to want to commit the data and cpu load required to support an independent node without enough reward to make it worthwhile. I'm not sure about private blockchains, but it seems to me that 20,000 nodes, all running off the same packaged software, distributed via a company wide intranet, would be one of the easier things to hack, and certainly wouldn't provide the level of customer confidence that a company might be aiming for. And they still have to pay for the power to run all those nodes and replace burnt out computers.

My gut feeling says that if there's any truth in this at all, it's that CEOs want to know they're using the latest technology, so their IT managers throw the latest fad word 'blockchain' around to look current. And I'm an optimist.

I'm not particularly surprised, when considering the possibilities of legitimate use cases and creative ways to utilize the blockchain. I would agree private blockchains and running their own network doesn't offer a lot of benefits and doesn't take full advantage of the blockchains full potential. There are a variety of advantages to using blockchain that don't require completely private blockchains run as separate and private chains. Side chains as well as creative use of minimal chain data to secure larger chunks of data could be very attractive in not only securing data but also reducing labor costs on certain tasks and legal fees.

Some examples could be - irrefutable time stamping, immutable document verification, streamlined and transparent supply chain, transfer and tracking of assets, among others.

Is the swap scheduled for September?  Really disappointing to hold these coins long-term, and miss a swap because you can't read every thread all the time...

Hi Steve321,

It is scheduled for September. Not to worry. We will make every effort to ensure everyone gets to swap their coins, and provide plenty of time. If you have your coins on the DNotesVault they will automatically be swapped for you with no action being required on the user end.

When's the new wallet going to be?
This is now four years.

Hi Badamba, we are shooting for September 2017 for the release of DNotes 2.0. Below is a quote from Alan to help shed some light on our position.

Welcome to DNotes, Zecon. You are correct, there has not been any technology upgrades of significance since DNotes was launched on February 18, 2014. If we can claim any credit, it is that DNotes has practically no technical support issues in our history. A few very minor issues were immediately attended to and resolved. Yes, by choice we have been focusing our resources in building an ecosystem that we believe is imperative in gaining mass acceptance of DNotes in global commerce one day.

We strongly believe that right timing is one of the major contributors to business success:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxWMpoqq68c&feature=youtu.be
Having waited for the right time allowed us to identify critical problems and the opportunity to think through the most effective solutions as the technology evolves. DNotes 2.0 will signal that DNotes is a thought leader firmly committed to be a technology leader in our industry.
