1641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: fundraising question on: November 29, 2019, 09:57:58 AM
Could and ICO be run like a fundraiser ?
Tokens could be used to buy product at awesome discount price waay below market.
Is that something that can be done ?

But why would anyone be incentivised to do that? From the developer's point of view, that is.

Unless of course the project is complete bull and the developers know that they can't raise funds any other way than sell their tokens at a significant discount.

But intrinsically, the concept of ICO and public fundraising is basically the same - with a catch that you receive tokens as your reward.
1642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum prices may never again reach 1000$, says analyst on: November 29, 2019, 04:04:42 AM
It could very easily reach $1k if BTC prices go up in a rally that drags the entire market up.

That's the thing with altcoins. For them to rally hard there is a prerequisite requirement that bitcoin is in a bull market first. However, BTC prices should ideally move sideways for altcoins to realise the most gains.

ETH is one of the coins that long term speaking, is one of the more stable and fundamentally sound coins out there. I wouldn't dismiss it this easily.
1643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CONSISTENCY PAYS on: November 28, 2019, 09:20:58 PM
No doubt the altcoin market has been a troubled one for the most part. Many have been burnt and more are still been burnt, in spite of all these, something good can still be made from this current market, it doesn't have to be thousands of dollars. I believe picking some good coins and consistently trading them can at least guarantee some returns.  For example: Energi, IDEX token and some others have been a good trade. We need not trade all the market, we may choose to pick just 3 coins and trade the market respectfully without being greedy.

Having a determined and a consistence winning strategy is important to making a profit in a troubled market.
I will love to hear the strategy you have been using to make money in this current market.

The downturn in the alt market is actually good in terms of helping flush out tokens that have no fundamental value to them. These were the projects that were ruining the name of the entire crypto market for being shady and sometimes even outright scams.

But you're right. Don't jump from one coin to another when you're investing.

Do thorough research into each coin's fundamentals and see which one has the best long term fundamentals. And then, pick the ones that are most undervalued right now. Don't follow the herd and go for the hyped up coins at the time. One such coin that fits this category right now is probably IOTA, imo.
1644  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019 - 11- 25] The 4 Possible Bitcoin Scenarios In The Long Run on: November 28, 2019, 08:45:36 PM
Quote
Bitcoin becomes a reserve currency in the world

This scenario is obviously ideal, but I don't think that this is likely given the time constraints. Especially with central banks, they aren't likely to adopt something that is decentralised as their reserve currencies, even though it is a logical thing to do to protect against external financial contagion.

I do think, however, that adoption levels will continue to increase in spite of what regulators seem to have against BTC.

A grassroot movement like this won't just be forgotten or abandoned, because of the sheer amount of people that is backing it, and not just one institution holding it together.
1645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: successful bounty projects that still cheats on: November 28, 2019, 08:02:05 PM
Few bounty projects that became successful and trading on good exchanges failed to pay bounty hunters, few of them paid half of bounty hunters and ignore the rest.
1. Vidy
2. Nestree
3. Sero project

If you have any you more you can add don't hesitate, now is there any way to get rid of this problem? i know some will say its bounty manager's fault but now that this have happened is there any solution?

Not really.

Just because a token is listed on an exchange doesn't necessarily mean that it is 100% legitimate, as demonstrated as your discovery here. Especially when you consider the fact that these entities are largely unregulated and there is virtually no oversight on any of the activties they do, let alone bounty campaigns.

I think you just need to be more careful. Do your own due diligence, try to pick bounties which you know are from known teams, and try to pick bounties which don't have a KYC clause that can be used against you.
1646  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Scam on Facebook Uses Identities of Singapore’s Elite to Swindle Users on: November 28, 2019, 03:18:39 AM
People are way too gullible i swear.

If you want to invest, you have to do your due diligence. One rule of thumb is that if you see some ad that is promising incredulous returns, it's likely to be fake, if not a ponzi scheme altogether. I've seen plenty of these ads and the best thing to do is to just ignore and report them.

The thing with these sort of scams is that they're so obvious to spot, but if you fall into one, there is no chance for legal recourse. You're not dealing with a legally compliant investment entity or anything like that, and the admins behind these schemes are largely anonymous.
1647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binary Trading platforms aren't 100% fair on: November 28, 2019, 02:46:04 AM
There is a high chance that trading platforms aren't 100% fair when you are using them because they have to make money too, when you lose its a gain for them and when you win its a loss for them so why will they want you to always win? i've heard complains about few trading platforms that cheats people for example iqoption, always remember that they will never work for free, they want money just as you want money too

Update: it seems people are getting me wrong, i am not talking about crypto exchanges and trading platform like binance and others, i am talking about iqoption platform, if you find it hard to believe get two mobile phone and make a trade at once, just pick up on Phone A and pick down on Phone B you will get answers, Iqoption is been manipulated

Definitely. Binary trading, especially when it comes to short term trades within the span of a few minutes or even 30 seconds can be extremely shady. You simply don't know where they get their price feeds from.

They could be completely abritrary or even rigged against your favour, because the sources where they get short term price fluctuations from is simply unknown and not available to the public.

Plus, their odds are extremely bad for something that closely resembles to gambling. Even sportsbook have better spreads.
1648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is NOW the time to get into Ethereum ? on: November 27, 2019, 10:41:22 PM
I don't think that you should go all in ETH. But right now, dollar cost averaging into a long position on ETH is certainly a viable investment opportunity given the fact that ETH is nearing its support at 0.02 BTC.

Especially when you consider the fact that long term, ETH still has one of the best fundamentals out of all cryptos, with its ERC20 framework and potential ETH2.0 implementation.

But, I don't really buy your equation thing. There is simply no model to predict market sentiment.
1649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum computing is not really a Bitcoin problem. on: November 27, 2019, 08:39:53 PM
AFAIK the bitcoin network can just fork to a quantum resistant algorithm if and when this event happens. There is no apocolypse that a lot of people are stressing about - that is mostly FUD on the part of the media.

And if this happens, BTC will probably one of your least worries given that everything else in your daily life will get disrupted as well.

Also, quantum computing on even a commercial scale let alone individual scale is still very far away atm.
1650  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take? on: November 27, 2019, 07:54:44 PM
I think the most important thing for people right now is to not invest blindly into IEOs or ICOs.

Most of the projects right now are completely bullcrap and have zero substance associated with them. They are just reincarnations of old projects that have already died off in this extremely saturated market we live in.

Also, hedge your positions somehow. Whether through derivatives, or simply diversifying.
1651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin vs. Dogecoin - FML on: November 26, 2019, 12:30:47 AM
So I invested in Litecoin at around 0.015 BTC because of the halving but it has been such a massive disappointment. Dogecoin on the other hand has maintained its value against BTC and is now even higher. I don't get it? There's only gonna be 64 million LTC ever but DOGE is over 120 billion now with no max supply and keeps adding about 5 billion new DOGE to its supply every year. Why is DOGE holding stronger than LTC Sad

This is a very big fallacy that people seem to have. The fact that somehow if a coin has a lower supply, it will be significantly more valuable than a coin with more supply but with a lower nominal value.

All of this is purely nominal, and what matters ultimately is still fundamentals, the market cap, and stuff along the lines of that. The relative prices of coins as well as the circulating supply usually have very little to do with fundamentals.

LTC hasn't seem a lot of hype after the halving, while DOGE has always been a seasonal coin with big rallies and dumps in cycles. So it's not surprising that their performance were like this.
1652  Economy / Economics / Re: US stock market's annual return is going to be 3~5% p.a. over the next 10 years on: November 26, 2019, 12:12:32 AM
Why is this even worth talking about? I don't get it.

3-5% seems like a fair amount to put the average growth at, given the fact that over the very long run, this seems to be some sort of equilibrium rate of return on equities anyhow. It can actually be quite a pessimistic outlook given that we can see stock markets rise in double digits in years with strong economic growth.

Whether this is accurate or not is could be up to debate, but it's certainly not an attempt to "shill" anything.
1653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The current news in China is just a fud or something more? on: November 25, 2019, 09:35:58 PM
I don't think that the problem here is that the news is fake - it is very real.

But it's still FUD nonetheless based on how negatively people have interpreted this news for absolutely no reason. We've long known how the Chinese government and central bank has responded to decentralised cryptos, and it's not overwhelmingly positive if you know what I mean.

This FUD has significantly contributed to the slip below $7k in price, I'd say. But in the long run, any rational investor will realise that this essentially means absolutely nothing to BTC's fundamentals.
1654  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: OneCoin: The Biggest Scam Crypto Scam Ever? on: November 25, 2019, 08:39:14 PM
It's absolutely crazy the extent that this scam has gone to and how widespread it is. I was talking to a taxi driver one day, and he said that even some of his relatives are sucked into Onecoin thinking that it's some secret path to riches.

It's good to see legal actions being taken against these people. But obviously the scammed proceeds cannot be all recouped.

These ponzis with some element of MLMs, whether Bitconnect, Onecoin, etc. are the most dangerous of them all, because it plays so well on human emotion and greed.
1655  Economy / Lending / Re: Question on how to earn through lending crypto on: November 25, 2019, 08:26:18 PM
So, I have been reading post here and I wanted to try to lend some btc. I want to know what is the recommended amount of investment needed for me to earn decent amount. If I choose to avail an escrow service, who should shoulder the fee for the service? Thanks in advance for all the help you can give me.

You can honestly start with as little as 0.1 BTC. Most of the microloans made here are under that amount, and unless you build up your clientele to a significant extent over the first few weeks, you don't even need that much BTC to start off.

As to escrow fees, I think usually the norm is to have the borrower cover that, although there is no written rules anywhere that the lender can't do so (you may even make yourself more competitive).

Good luck. Make sure to ask for collateral (as always) and do your due diligence, that's the most important thing.
1656  Economy / Speculation / Re: Disturbing on: November 25, 2019, 11:50:07 AM
Is it really disturbing? What is disturbing is how markets knew about this coming for ages and still reacted, somehow, some way, this strongly, which makes absolutely no sense to me and suggests that there is currently a lot of irrational actors driving price action.

The PBoC was never intending to endorse decentralised cryptos in the first place yet people were acting like they were when Xi's comments initially came out.

It's an overreaction both ways, imo, and there is no reason to believe that prices should fall down to previous bear market bottoms again.
1657  Economy / Economics / Re: Can online platforms like Youtube and Facebook really be decentralized? on: November 25, 2019, 09:27:33 AM
Not entirely. But there are significant progress made in terms of striving towards decentralisation.

You look at projects such as Steemit, which used to be extremely hyped up and had actually a lot of quality content, but as soon as the money incentive dried up there is now a lack of users for the platform which is concerning.

Perhaps new innovations can come that solves this issue, but I doubt it'll be the near future. I think decentralisation of ideas is certainly a needed concept though.
1658  Economy / Speculation / Re: trump is the cause of drop prices bitcoin on: November 25, 2019, 06:57:50 AM
Stop trying to attribute dips in price to a single event. It just doesn't work that way.

There is no single factor that leads to a bear market occurring, which I think is safe to say what we have regressed into right now. Market psychology can play just as an important role to price action compared to real policy changes with regulators, and I think that it is very likely that people are panic dumping right now.

A lot of people expected prices to go through the $10k resistance as China announcements happened last few weeks. Due to the miss on that news, it's quite possible we're also seeing a long squeeze right now.
1659  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning! Here's Why BTC is Set To Fall To 3000 or Lower! on: November 25, 2019, 06:04:19 AM
Lmao. All you have done is speculate without any evidence, yet you make it seem like you're some all knowing wizard of the charts Roll Eyes

Perhaps BTC will drop down to $3k momentarily. However, with the improved fundamentals as a result of the LN and cheaper transaction fees that it brings, I doubt that any price level that low will be sustained for a significant amount of time.

There's no reason to panic so hard or to say that BTC won't see five digits again. That's just pure FUD.
1660  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Accurate Bitcoin Price Prediction (going on the record again) on: November 25, 2019, 12:36:18 AM
Pretty accurate for now. I also believe that we won't go below 6k. I thought so last year and when we went lower to 3k is said to myself that it has to be a manipulation and decided not to even participate. I took a break from investments, kept holding, turned to my family and other hobbies. I still think that a fall from 5 to 3 k was manipulated by wall street trying to short and induce fear into this market. Maybe even the US government had something to do with it. They can print as much money as they want and crash this market whenever they want.

It's obvious that a large number of holders, including myself, stay away from  the market in such periods. What decides the price is a handful of rich dudes doing their best to make newbies who entered the market this year to give up and sell. The easiest way to do it is to buy OTC and dump it all at once to liquidate longs and buy them out lower.

I wish the prediction comes true and this will once again be a higher low from which we'll move to retest 10k.

I agree with that.

I don't think that $7k will hold as support, but $6k likely will. I doubt that the bearishness will continue for much longer given that next year marks the halving, which is seen as a very bullish event.

What I'm expecting is a sizeable rebound Jan 2020, because of psychological factors and historical pumps that occur during that first month. Sometimes markets are all about psychology and emotion and there may not be real fundamentals to back up either dips or rallies.
