1661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New exchange coming soon accepting most of alternate crypto-currencies! on: March 05, 2013, 07:24:36 PM
My concern with ANY exchange is security, yet you mention nothing about it.

- How will you be storing the coins?
- Will anything be available for instantaneous withdrawal?
- What happens if you are hacked and lose ALL the hot-wallet coins on your server?  Will you shut down and/or force the loss on your customers, or do you have enough money on-hand to cover any potential losses yourself?
- Do you have a programmer onboard with extensive experience in security?
1662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upgrade bitcoin.org on: March 05, 2013, 07:04:25 PM
This is amazing, well done.  I've been waiting for an update like this to the bitcoin.org page for quite some time.

When can/will it go live?

Watching as well.
1664  Economy / Goods / Re: !!! [WTS] 2007 PORSCHE CAYMAN S - 8200 MILES !!! on: March 05, 2013, 04:43:12 PM
If anyone would like to pay for delivery of this item in Bitcoins PM me. I am also willing to assist in escrow.

You want the buyer to give you all the bitcoins at the same time the seller gives you the car for delivery?

You are the guy that claims to be selling the .com top level domain. Like anyone would ever see you again.

Haha, yes I'm assuming he was joking. For the record though, I will not be selling through a third party. If you want the vehicle, I expect you will want to come and pick it up yourself.

By the way, we are currently sitting at 1057 BTC, which is pretty amazing. Anybody ready to jump on this amazing deal?
If we ever get down to 50 ($800 Bitcoins, anyone?), I just might!

That would be something else huh? It begs the question, are you positive that you would still be holding on to those 50 coins as it passes the $500, $600, $700 mark? And on the other end, how many people are going to pass the 100 BTC Porsche at $400 a coin? I don't think we'll be reaching those values any time soon but nothing's certain, could be worth $20 a coin next Tuesday for all we know.
Not positive about anything, but I'll likely have more than the 50 that I'm holding on to at that point.  When the BFL units arrive, I'm planning to mine and permanently (more or less) save half of the coins mined.  I'd like to eventually buy a house with BTC, so I will be saving and awaiting the day when that is possible.

1668  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Casascius Coins Original Series (2+ BTC ea) on: March 01, 2013, 07:36:28 AM
I've actually bought all the coins I want for now, but may be interested in them at an exceptional price or really good condition. Or after a bit I may be looking to buy more.

1670  Economy / Currency exchange / [WTS] 40,000 XRP for 1 BTC on: March 01, 2013, 05:02:47 AM
I'd like to sell 40,000 XRP for 1 BTC.  Post here or PM if you are interested.
1671  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Newbie Special]: Casascius 1 BTC Coin: 1.50 BTC incl. shipping, buy 1 or 2 on: February 22, 2013, 11:50:15 PM
Molecular and I went through the biggest headache in dealing with one transaction. It was completely not his fault. The post lost the parcel (fortunately he was smart enough to insure it). Once it was pretty certain I wasn't getting the coins (about a month later), Molecular returned my money. Since they say lightning can't strike twice in the same place, I decided to try one more order w/Molecular. Well, I got it today! Molecular is a stand-up BTC citizen and I would do business with him again any day.
Were the coins already loaded?  Do we count that as BTC lost forever?
1672  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Warning: blockchain.info may register you IP, even if you don't use them! on: February 22, 2013, 11:13:03 PM
I kind of enjoy perusing through the IP logs and speculating as to the actual IP/location of the owners of various addresses.  I vote keep it.
1673  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $30 again on: February 22, 2013, 10:24:36 PM
Is now correct.  From this moment on, Bitcoin will never reach $30.00.
1674  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $30 again on: February 22, 2013, 10:14:52 PM
OP is now correct.
1675  Economy / Gambling / Re: 80 BTC bet between Micon and mrb (are BFL ASICs real?) on: February 22, 2013, 10:11:08 PM
Understandable, what makes you think they will be shipping soon?
The updates they've given on the butterflylabs.com forum.  They have the chips now, it's just a matter of bumping, packaging, and assembling the units before they can ship.  Provided nothing goes wrong, it should be quite soon.  If something goes wrong, it could be another few months (hence the 12 weeks bit).  But I think there is a good chance they'll be shipping soon.

don't you find it at least the slightest bit odd that they refuse to take pictures of the chips?  the bumping?  nothing?

posts like this must disturb even the strongest BFL supporter:  https://forums.butterflylabs.com/bfl-forum-miscellaneous/1034-february-14th-2012-update-discussion-thread-8.html#post15426
Not at all.  The bumping is being done by a 3rd party company in California, and no BFL reps are over there.  How could they expect to take pictures of the process or the chips?

Just going to mention, the Minecraft Faucet payout has been increased by 10x.  I expect weekly payouts to all users of around 2 BTC (that's the goal).  Still not going to replace your dayjob, but if you spend any significant amount of time moving blocks around on the server, it'll pay out much better than any of the free faucets will!
1679  Economy / Gambling / Re: 80 BTC bet between Micon and mrb (are BFL ASICs real?) on: February 22, 2013, 06:04:19 PM
WOW, ok, all I hear and see is bullshit slinging back and forth, no real answers to ANY real questions... It's just ridiculous at this point.  For the hundredth time, where is your proof Josh, send me the links, point me in the right direction... ragging on Micon and telling people they are blind, hurling insults at the non believers; this is not helping your case, and CERTAINLY doesn't count as proof or evidence that BFL has anything at all to offer the community, as you seem to think it does.   For the last time, WHERE IS THE PROOF, WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE?  I don't care what you think of me, or the rest of the BTC community that doesn't believe what seems to be lie after lie from you and your company, so stop feeding us lines and answer the real question here. Where are the ASIC's, where is the proof, where is the evidence?  Millions of dollars worth of paying customers deserve to know, and you refuse to answer...  I don't understand why, and if you're legitimate in any way, you will have no problem responding to this in something other than a defensive, mocking, insulting manner.  Show us the proof, show us the evidence.
If you really want the details, this thread is probably the last place you're going to find them.  The real paying customers are at butterflylabs.com, where BFL answers questions appropriately and gives updates as they can.

Regardless, I don't think BFL really cares all that much about proving things right now.  In 1-12 weeks, they'll ship out, and that's when people will see the proof they want to see.

Well I don't expect an answer to my questions, as I don't believe there are any (answers).  Seeing as how this originated as a betting thread, I'd like to get back to it.  Would you like to make a wager Sgt?  I'm not BTC rich so it would have to be relatively small, but could we agree on an end point of shipping sometime within the 1-12 week time frame you mentioned?  If your not into it, I wont push it, but if you are I think we could come to some sort set of terms relatively quickly.  What do you think?
I do believe they'll ship out soon, but I already wagered 20 BTC with Micon on it, and the other BTC I had has been sequestered for other uses.  I'm kind of BTC-broke right now.  Wink
