Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the stale/orphan/reject rate isn't being correctly reported by the pool.

Have you noticed that you only get 55-60% of the estimated payout from his pool? Do the math.

The orpan blocks, have a little line through them. And yes, for the first little while, I did only get about 55-60% payouts, but, because I can read, and understand how the PPLNS payout system works, I stuck with it, and now I get 90-95% of the estimated coins/day...Knowledge is power

This isn't a PPLNS issue, I have been on BigVern's pool since it launched, and was still missing 40% of my payouts.

Don't know what to tell you, I get around what I should be getting. Do you have a slow hashrate? Some of those blocks solve pretty quickly, it's common for slower miners, to not be fast enough to submit a share, in a really fast round.
If you look at the block stats, and you see a lot of confirmed blocks, with no reward listed for you, than there's your issue. If that's the case, a smaller, slower pool, would be better for you

I hash at about 1.2, 1.3 Mhash.

All of my confirmed blocks on Vern's pool have payouts. I just jumped on a pool that was about 200 total Mhash, and the results were the same.

Dunno then. Obviously, this isn't a global problem, or this thread would be full of hundreds of replies, and global hashrate would drop.

Why is everyone being so negative about this coin? Fair enough if there was something stupid about it or if it was just another clonecoin, but i saw a decent amount of innovation in the quick difficulty adjustments based on network hash rates - am i the only one that read that in the OP? Depending on more information and how exactly it works - the good thing about it is that it would stop certain people with massive hash rates from dominating the early few hours of the coin. Meaning there would be much less of a pre-mine effect - am i wrong here?

Copying idea's from other coins, like DGC and WDC, hardly counts as inovation. Yay, he carbon copied LTC, made the block rewards higher, and the diff adjusts.
To answer you question, who do you think feels a higher diff first? The 200 KH/sec miner, or the 3500 KH/sec miner?

Am I missing something?

Nope, powercoin is still only ~50% profitable, and it's diff can't go much lower. Just checking Roll Eyes

Um, so far, on Big Verns pool, there has been 1 orphan, in the last 200 blocks...And my CGMiner, shows a ~2% reject rate...Where did your numbers come from  Huh

Premine or not?

At zero diff, and with crazy block sizes, does it matter? Big hashers, with low latency, will rape the shit out of this coin. Like, you'd think, with all the failed coins, the only good thing to come, would be the lessons, but nope, people just keep creating the same, shitty coins, over and over again.
I can't code, nor do I have any original ideas, for a new coin. I can't swim either. So you know what I do? I keep my ass out of deep water.

1690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PETITION] ***Gold Coin*** Lets Get GLD Listed On Exchange! on: May 24, 2013, 01:08:38 AM

Like I told you, LOOK FOR GOLD TO RISE UP TO MEET OR MATCH WITH THE OTHER 'ALT' COINS, BUT WITH A NAME LIKE GOLDCOIN, then gold has the advantage.

GLDcoin is a racehorse, man, and just watch it go.

I do not think there is any hurry to get on an exchange.

In fact, I believe that GLDcoin ought to create its own exchange, and do massive marketing, and GLDcoin can stand alone, where other coins will not.

Mark my words. Grin

So, the name? That's all you got? Competing with coins that have instant transactions, and dynamic diff levels, that's the best you can do? GDL Coin, is the best, because it has Gold in the name?
1691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PETITION] ***Gold Coin*** Lets Get GLD Listed On Exchange! on: May 24, 2013, 12:57:46 AM
And, what, exactly is it, that you feel sets GLD coin apart from the other 10 coins, released in the same time frame? All of which, are now dead....

Nothing? Yeah, that's what I though Roll Eyes
1692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good job killing DGC / on: May 24, 2013, 12:56:06 AM
Because at this point it's incredibly redundant.

Well, true.. but isn't that always the case in the beginning?

They are all redundant.  All crypto coins, just like BTC.

You think BTC too? Even now?

I too think all alt-coins are redundant including BTC. Answer to following question should suffice.

1) Do you really need bitcoins? Is there anything you need that you cant buy with fiat currencies?

To me Bitcoin has two major purpose.

1) Bitcoins are useful for those wanting to do shady transactions on silk road and similar websites. But that's not why you are holding your bitcoins. You are holding bitcoins because you think that someone will have the need to use bitcoins for shady transactions and the value will go up.

2) Almost free money transfer internationally. You can send bitcoins from US to Europe for a small fee of 0.01 BTC. Fiat cant beat that. But do you need to transfer money internationally? You think that someone else will need to transfer money and this will drive the price up. There is a catch in this too. we are forgetting the fees involved in transferring fiat> BTC by sender and BTC>fiat by receiver at the end of the day.

The fiat/BTC conversion step can become obsolete if we all get paid in BTC for our jobs and we can buy groceries in BTC but thats too optimistic. Even if our employer pays us in BTC, he would need to get BTC from somewhere? He cant have ASICs churning in basement to pay all the employees.

So, the obvious question comes to mind, why are you even at bitcointalk.org?
1693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Build me a LTC rig on: May 24, 2013, 12:46:13 AM
http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1ddhie/undervolt_overclock_and_cgminer_settings_for_2x/

There's 1 guy here, who is running 3x7950's, undervolted, and is drawing 730W from the wall, which would encompass the entire rig.

I've seen many posts, on this forum, and others, with problems getting the full hashing power, from a 7970. They are finnicky. From what I can tell, 7950's are the prefered card for mining. But it's all personal preference, and depends on things like, how much $$ you have to spend.

I only have 7950's, so, I can't speak from experience, as to which is actually better, just refering to data I've collected.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=203946.0

Now, some people also say that 7970's have a higher resale value, which is true, up to a point. Once the next gen cards come out, the resale value of all 7xxxx cards plumment. When I tried to sell my 5870, after buying my first 7950, I had a hell of a time.
1694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Build me a LTC rig on: May 24, 2013, 12:25:49 AM
any suggestions on best 7950?
if you can afford 7950, then you should jus go h.a.m, get the 7970s, sapphire twin x oc edition, then a 1500 watt power supply gold certified. you dont need a really powerful cpu, but i'd suggest the 22nm i5 and minimum of 8gb ram, if you use reaper, get 16gb. you may want to use a custom case or crate for your build. to allow the hardware space and additional cooling. pcie risers are a good option, get powered ones. i use a ssd, i dont know if that improves performance.

7950's prove to be more profitable. The extra electricity, plus the extra $100 per card, is not worth the little bit of extra hashing power. Not only that, 7970's are notoriously harder to get the settings right. I have the 3 fan Gigabyte 7950, and I get 620 KH/sec, at stock speeds.

That mobo you picked, that's only got 2X PCIE16 slots, is that enough? I've also read in places too, that 3 GPU's per board is better, for cooling purposes, and, so you don't have to fuck around with powered riser cables.

Also, I read that 8 GB Ram should be plenty

Can you please back this up with data?

The data I have is that I draw 1243W from the socket with 4x 7970 @ 750kh/s - significantly faster than 7950. With 90% PSU efficiency, this means 1118W at the PSU side --> minus ~160W for processor, motherboard, HDD and peripherals, 958 W for just the cards --> 239W per card.

Now, I hear the 7950's draw about 200W per card (can you confirm?), at 620 KH/s

So, this means:

7950 ---> 620/200 = ~ 3.1 kh/W
7970 ---> 750/239 = ~ 3.14 kh/W

And this makes sense as it's practically the same board, but at higher clocks. So as the output per watt is practically the same (give or take 5% in my assumptions), I see no reason why not to put the top cards in your system :/

You can undervolt a 7950, still get ~650 KH/Sec, at 40-50W less, bringing it down to ~150W per card.
Also, the initial investment is ~$400 more, for 4 7970's.
1695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LuckyCoin LKY | Lucky Blocks | Fast | Fun | Fair on: May 24, 2013, 12:20:56 AM
Coin is too slow, not competive with current coins. Pass. Also, these random prize blocks, are just plain retarded. 5000K coins in one block? Are you on Glue? Or are you intentionally making your coin worthless, from the get go? Roll Eyes

.01% good luck hitting it

Someone sometime, is going to hit it. The mere fact that there is any chance, of solo mining 5K coins, devalues it by a lot.

Now, if GLD, PWC and RYC, could just die, and stay dead, we can move on from these dark times Tongue

Did you just forgot WDC??

WDC is still more profitable, than LTC, so, um...Yeah...

thanks that was helpful

what motherboard you recommend then?

Further research indicated that that board is the best for mining right now, it's the 1X16, and 16X16 powered riser cables, make the difference. 4 GPU's are better. I'm also in the process of designing a rig. I found this website very helpful;
