The only but serious problem we may face while trading on decentralized p2p is receiving funds from a hacked account
Hence why I recommend using non-easily reversible payment methods. Cash is king in this regard.

I don't care whatsoever about the history of the bitcoin I receive, because I do not use anti-bitcoin services which promote the proven nonsense of "taint", and I mix or coinjoin everything I receive anyway.

so from that incident I only use LBC
And in doing so you lose all the benefit of trading peer to peer, since LBC is entirely centralized, requires KYC, passes your data to third parties, and can seize your coins. Further, just because the account you are trading with has undergone KYC, this does not prevent the person from being hacked.

Bank transfer is reversible too, in my case its a wire transfer and I released the BTC only after matching the bank account and ID provided by the buyer and when the actual owner claimed the money via bank support the funds were taken from my bank account with no notice and any info I came to know that myself while checking the statement and then only I proceed with LBC support about the hacker, technically I didn't lose my money but the money will be on hold for 99 years.

As a trader, I am okay with losing anonymity to avoid facing legal actions and a bad reputation to me. WHen comparing the risk of complete anonymous p2p the KYCed account looks less risky and I proceed with caution and also with persons of long good trading history no newbies and few months only account.
1682  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anonymous crypto exchange on: January 29, 2023, 02:50:52 PM

I don't think at this point you can claim CEXs are safer than DEXs, provided the user isn't doing anything stupid (such as selling bitcoin for PayPal or some other easily reversed fiat methods to a brand new account).
The only but serious problem we may face while trading on decentralized p2p is receiving funds from a hacked account, yes it happened to me once and followed by bank action but I managed to retrieve the funds back however the user completely lost all his bitcoin is his account for violating the terms and the surprising factor is even the scammer can provide the ID of the hacked account which made me to slip so from that incident I only use LBC so I may not any serious problems like receiving funds from hacked accounts while we verify the name of an account with the money account we received the payment.
1683  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading or Investing in the stock market on: January 28, 2023, 04:47:42 PM
Which is the best?  Trading on bitcoin or investing in the stock market? The battle between short period earning and long-term earning. Share your thought about it.

You can invest on bitcoin for long term as well as on stocks for short term so the battle is decided by the investor so there is no actual thing called which is best among the two.

Let's assume one who mastered both bitcoin and stock market investing for years then imagine what they will do, for the information wise investors never forget the diversification so they will do both and try to dissipate the risk as well.
1684  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can old people use bitcoin? on: January 28, 2023, 04:19:15 PM
If they can use their smartphone then definitely they can use bitcoin and maybe in coming years we may see more easily accessible wallets for such old people so they don't have to do many techy works, they simply open the app scan the QR code, and pay it just simple as texting back.

Well, bitcoin becoming the mainstream worldwide accepted currency we still have lot of time so by that time we may have people with advanced technical knowledge so it won't be a barrier to adopt.
1685  Other / Meta / Re: New bitcointalk rank? 🔥 on: January 28, 2023, 05:36:37 AM
What would be a good name for this new rank?
AI suggested this, I mean LoyceV Cheesy

One rank above the Legendary is my wish.
My wish is to call it Legend.

But let's take it to the next level, if it is 2000 then we may see them high in numbers so keep the range much more higher and I thought 5000 merits is much deserved to sit above the legendary.
1686  Economy / Economics / Re: Track every rich person take on: January 28, 2023, 05:02:53 AM
For the record, not everyone who is working hard, taking risks, and having an enormous amount of knowledge and skills are not billionaire because they keep doing it for someone else to become rich I mean their boss. So rich people know how to make money from the effort of others.

Each rich people has their own unique way and anyone who followed them may not get the same chance as someone who is trying it for the first time so finding the unique is the secret key to success.
1687  Economy / Reputation / Re: My Apology to Bitcoin Community and Request for a 2nd Chance on: January 27, 2023, 04:50:15 PM
Its their personal choice to decide whether they want to give you a chance or not, well I would like to speak for myself, despite of having multiple negative tags you are still being an active member of this forum which is convincing for me to give you a chance, and if its decided based on vote definitely I will be voting for you cause most others will left forum and come up with new account to build everything from scratch.
1688  Economy / Gambling / Re: Positive Gambling Quotes for 2023! on: January 27, 2023, 03:52:25 PM
I don't know if anyone said this but what reminds me when I say "gambling is a double edged sword " and it fits perfectly as well cause you can change your life into either of its extreme depends on how you handle it.

Being positive while gambling will not really helps us though so being concentrated is more important to realize actual happenings.
1689  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a chrome extension to receive forum notifications? on: January 27, 2023, 05:06:10 AM

The bot works well and gives very good results, but I work on a laptop and use the Google Chrome browser. I installed Telegram (Windows desktop version) so that I receive notifications immediately instead of a mobile.

I have installed the notification bot too on my windows 10 and I get pop up a notification whenever I am mentioned on bitcointalk so it maybe something related to your app setting, I will check my setting and let you know if there is any changes to be made for running the application in background.
1690  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: January 26, 2023, 05:33:50 PM

Let's assume the house you want to buy has mortgage of 600 dollars per month but the rent for same house is 400 so here is what you should do, just choose rent and think you have to pay mortgage every month which means you have 200 dollars extra and you have to keep investing the amount every month into something with decent returns and low risk as long as you can, so at the end of 10 years you may not own a house but the investment you made all those years along with the compounding effect you will have much more money than the worth of that house.

You see that's the problem with scenarios, when you set them so that the result points to what you want to achieve, one might ask himself, is the scenario actually true? What if the rent is 550 and the mortgage 600? What if your investment fails completely? And more importantly, what if the price of the house goes up?
In 2010 the price of an sqm in London was 4500, not it's above 7000!

So even with your scenario, you would have to turn every single of those $200 into $900 in order to keep up just with the housing price!
Do you think is doable for everyone?

If just 50 is the difference then I wouldn't mind getting the loan to be honest but that is not the case all around the world, especially in developing countries so the mortgage amount is at least double or triple the rent amount and also the job security is comparatively less that is why its wise to choose the investment overpaying for an asset for the entire lifetime.

Now real estate is not growing that much as far as I observed and also this work-from-home trend took a decent amount of people from the crowded city to remote places so they avoid rent expenses also have more money to save, maybe  the future can turn either way however the safest chance will not produce the highest returns so one who wants to reach the line before others has to take the investment risk.
1691  Other / Meta / Re: How can I prevent my account from being hacked as newbie on: January 26, 2023, 04:43:54 PM
Avoid accessing bitcointalk or just any other website via public wifi because its more vulnerable and you can't even get a hint that your personal details are under someone's radar. And as others said stake your address so incase you are hacked it will help you to prove the ownership of the account.
1692  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason why I will never help anyone to invest in crypto on: January 26, 2023, 10:35:55 AM
Relationships and businesses should never have collided with each other for any reason.

Well, technically you can if they don't know about crypto but trust you with your decision then you can act like their fund manager and take the certain percentage from their profits but before doing that you must come up with written paper work and what are your terms and conditions, importantly what will happen in case of loss to the principal amount.
1693  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I might be wrong about this but I need to know on: January 25, 2023, 04:46:23 PM
Bitcoin mining is profitable but when you have the right equipment and a better environment to accommodate them then only you can save electricity bills and make money. As far as I know cloud mining is not really possible anymore to bitcoin so you can partner with others and start mining with ASICs or simply invest on bitcoin for long term.
1694  Other / Meta / Re: Why we do not have an official YT channel to counter mainstream? on: January 25, 2023, 04:04:51 PM
There is no official in the decentralization so we have to fight against the centralized power with the community and everyone is free to express their opinion about cryptos and when the news is legit it will get awareness about certain range but remember still we are posting them on the centralized media so if there is a day when we have complete freedom to express what we want to tell and there is no censorship then we may achieve the highest reach as possible.
1695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin gaining this much fame despite it's restrictions? on: January 25, 2023, 04:00:11 AM

Bitcoin gaining a much fame because most of countries doesn't ban Bitcoin and there are few country already accept it as legal tender.
I don't know where OP is from but from the past, I remember whenever China tried to ban bitcoin it backfired by gaining more popularity and value so it all depends on how people see it and what the government is trying to do with it.

In this 2023, almost the community exposed what bitcoin is capable of which forcing the governments to make it legal or regulate it as an asset since they found they literally can't ban bitcoin unless their blackout internet worldwide forever.
1696  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: January 25, 2023, 01:52:07 AM
Some of the expert suggest loan a house instead of paying rent so at the end of mortgage period you will be left with an asset but it will not work every where especially you mentioned rent is cheap comparing to mortgage amount so here is what you should do.

1697  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please Help, Am Running low on ideas. on: January 24, 2023, 04:56:13 PM
Creating a topic is not as easy as it looks. Am running low on ideas; with this one having to literally source for contents no one would have seen or given a second thought to. With having to ensure I also avoid the pitfalls of plagiarism or spam.

These days, with so many topics and discussions held here, I wonder what topic it is, that I would create that hasn't been created already or the kind of discussion that wouldn't head in same direction with answers of old.

Where can I get good quality materials and topic sources from?
How do I tailor a discussion to get the right answers?

You are not really supposed to create a thread when you actually don't have a point, either you can stick with the discussions.

Do you think creating topics will get you merits?

It may work for a while but not forever so stop forcing yourself to pretend someone when you aren't actually.
1698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs CBDC - Print your own stickers on: January 24, 2023, 01:50:28 PM
Me,  I am not worried about Bitcoin here. I am worried here is most of the altcoins here, most of the altcoins right now are centralized. There is no threat for Bitcoin here as even if there will be CBDC, it's still fiat and it's still the opposite with Bitcoin, the inflation is still there. While Bitcoin is solving the problem that we have right now in our traditional finance.

Most altcoins are shit and centralized but they are backed by supply and demand whereas the CBDC just by nothing other than promise of central bank which is more vulnerable than owning something which has actual value.

I don't know how much accurate the world map is but countries like India, CHina and few others launched their CBDC but not pushing it too much for now among their citizen but sooner we can expect them to make such efforts.
1699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Too accessible of online casino grows addiction faster? on: January 24, 2023, 11:27:28 AM
I have a discussion with a close relative about online gambling and he said something that about how he hate gambling online because it's too addictive, he claimed real life casinos are better and less addictive because he will have to drive down to Las Vegas to gamble or drive down to a local casino and this still takes some physical effort and it discourages many people from frequenting gambling.

He said with online gambling it's available on through mobile phones and you can play at any time, this means no shortage of gambling around the clock and no shortage of losing money as well, you can easily pull out your phone and gamble with any free time, a bit compulsive and too accessible.

What do you think about this claim? Is he right or wrong?

Its subjective, what if I feel taking my phone on the hands and go to a browser and login to a casino site and choose a game and decide bet amount and finally click the roll which involves some physical activity too so anyone who feel driving down to a casino can say the same reason for gambling online too. Roll Eyes

If you decide to gamble online its your own decision, if you decide to smoke its your own decision so you are in control of it so you can't blame the availability of products for your pleasure.
1700  Economy / Reputation / Re: My apology to all. And please read the whole post before you do anything. on: January 24, 2023, 09:43:44 AM
It's Tanvi50_. So technically it's not mine, but I do have access to it. I have taken some of the merits in the past from that account, and I will say this again. I didn't know back then that how merits works. And other submission were getting a lot of merits, so I thought I can get some from my sister's account. So I did. The amount is 28, but I did also give merits to other people too. You can check my merit history. Someone I know personally, I shared it with him, and he said it was against the rules of Forum. So after that I stopped doing it and only gave out merits to who deserved it.

First of all abusing with the merits won't get you a ban and moderators have nothing to do with the merit abuse and DT community decides whether you can be trusted after doing such a thing with their ratings.

Technically you circulated the merits between yourself either its from your own account or your sister's as per your story but you did on yourself which is not really encouraged again this won't get you a ban but you're at the risk of getting negged.

And for the next part, you can merit any post you want as long as you're doing it from your own sMerits, like if you simply like a post or even a post with one word received tons so it all depends on the adding meaning to the discussion in some part.
