1721  Other / Meta / Re: Know who ignores who on: July 05, 2023, 10:19:21 AM
Just try it. Click Ignore, after that the button toggles to Unignore. Or Show/Hide (this one doesn't work well on my mobile). There's no permanent change if you don't want it.

My dear is that I don't want to get on anybody's bad book, so I just have to try as much as I can to avoid anything that would get me into any kind of problem, from all you said about these topic, there's a need to ignore but some might abuse it.
Thanks for clearing me.

No, for the "unignore" option to come up you need to have put the user on ignore in the first place, even though it was done mistakenly.

The thing is, sometimes when I find myself on any thread, while scrolling to see who to quote or reply the post I just find some user showing Ignore and I'll be like, how or when did I do this, so that's the confusion I was having and I thought I mistakenly did it.
1722  Other / Meta / Re: Know who ignores who on: July 05, 2023, 09:00:06 AM
Now I'm kind of having this confusion on this, I haven't ignored anybody since I started using this Forum (haven't seen any reason to anyway) but my question is,
"IF SOMEONE IGNORES ANOTHER USER, CAN I UNIGNORE THAT USER OR IS IT ME THAT MISTAKENLY IGNORED THAT USER TO BE ABLE TO UNIGNORE IT?"

Of course, you can remove users that you have set "ignore" from the list.
Just go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=ignprefs

On that page, a list of all the users you have ignored appears. Remove the names of the ones you no longer want to ignore.

I know but the question is can i UNIGNORE someone I didn't IGNORE? That's what have been confusing me.

I haven't ignored anybody since I started using this Forum (haven't seen any reason to anyway)
Why? You like reading shitposts? A combination of Report and Ignore makes it easier to find the posts worth reading.

Not that like I love reading shitpost don't get me wrong, is just that I find these whole thing confusing. I don't know how it works, talking about the ignore and unignore issue, just want to get it straight that's all, because I feel I have touched a button that I'm not suppose touch or that I have clicked by accident.
1723  Other / Meta / Re: Know who ignores who on: July 05, 2023, 05:30:20 AM
By knowing who ignores who might cause a little bit of problem (like hate or something) because users won't find it ok to quote or reply whosoever have ignored them, so is best to let it be hidden as it is.

I noticed such happening severally and I don't know if I'm the one who did it or not.
1724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are bitcoin mixers often accused of laundering money? on: July 05, 2023, 04:46:13 AM
In your opinion, how to prevent the use of bitcoin as a means of money laundering? While we may not recommend going to KYC, it is useless and the anonymity of bitcoins will be lost.

Firstly I have no idea why the accusations are coming up now, I feel the government on the other hand will do anything possible for people to have negative impression about Bitcoin and the won't stop till they get what they have being targeting which is to never let Bitcoin to be in the first place.
On the other hand, rigorous identity verification and cryptocurrency KYC processes can discourage launderers from placing crypto on their platform, and also real time transaction monitoring can help ones business to identify transaction that create compliance risk.
1725  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm officially not a newbie anymore!!! on: July 05, 2023, 04:12:03 AM
I'm happy to say that I am no longer in the newbie rank. I can remember being ashamed of the newbie rank glaring on my profile.

Congrats on your new rank OP, I don't see anything to be ashamed of being a newbie. You can't start your steps from 2, you start from 1 before getting to the top, so I don't see anything to be ashamed of as long as you have it in mind that you won't remain a newbie for long, is one step at a time to move to the next level/rank. Everyone on this Forum started from somewhere before getting to where they're now, hard work and never giving up will get you to your goal, and I see you getting to a greater hight only if you keep on pushing.

I soon got used to it and then ignored it and focused on growing my knowledge on btc and crypto in general. I can say I've learnt a whole lot with loads more to learn. Learning is a continuous process and I look forward to growing in continuous knowledge and information sharing here in the forum.

That's the spirit, I'd tell you for free that if you'd never have that mindset of getting to know more about Bitcoin or cryptocurrence as a distraction but only focusing on your rank you won't have gotten to your NEW RANK, you would have lost focus, so learning and contributing to the forum also being consistent was what got you to where you are so I'd advise you keep it up and add more effort to your work.

Once again congrats...
1726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 04, 2023, 09:28:11 PM
David de Gea deserves respect for his servant to Manchester United since being bought by Manchester in the 2011/2012 season. De Gea had to part ways because the two parties did not reach an agreement on a contract extension plan, that is very sad for a goalkeeper who has worked for more than 10 seasons for a team. De Gea is a Legend for Manchester United, but he didn't have the sweet ending to retiring his team.

I know De Gea is still in demand by several other Premier League clubs, but Al-Nassr FC's offer seems very reasonable for him. De Gea could be reunited with his former friend at Al-Nassr FC, that would be Ronaldo, but I don't know at what stage the talks between the two parties are.

Manchester United's decision to let one of their best goalkeepers leave might be connected to his wages. There were talks between Manchester United and de Gea in early this year to renew his contract but negotiation hit the rock. The club was not willing to keep paying the Spanish goalkeeper £375,000-per-week wages. He was the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world. The club wanted a deal with a reduced wage bill, but David de Gea turned down the contract because he wanted to continue earning high. He failed to understand that his performance has declined to some extent. Maybe he thinks he is still that first-class goalkeeper but that's not true for now. So I don't blame United for allowing him to go. I am sure that no club in Europe will pay David what he currently earns at Manchester United. He can get a high-paying contract in the Saudi league.

David de Gea is not just a goalkeeper that any club would let go like that, fine his wages are high but he should be respected to the fullest and for the fact that he still remain loyal to the club like when Madrid came calling he stayed put that shows so much love and dedication to the club and with what I'm seeing I just wish he leaves the club and find a better club within Europe. I won't advise him going to the Saudi league because I see him getting another trophy and making a name for him self ones again, if a better club came calling.
No matter how he makes mistakes I feel is because of the kind of defenders he have around and I see him doing better in another club, Manchester United don't deserve him at all and they'll regret not keeping him if he leaves.
1727  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: The "DT update log" should be Alphabetical. on: July 04, 2023, 06:43:38 PM
As the title suggested, the names in the "DT update log" should be in alphabetical order for easy identify of a DT member (s) whenever a user is trying to find out any. I was looking for a particular DT member in the log and I noticed that it was somehow difficult for me to get to the DT member name because the names are not arrange in alphabetical order so I have to check one after the other but if the names were arranged in alphabetical order, I would have gone straight to the alphabet of the particular username and make a search from there and get the name. But for now the scanning or skimming process is somehow difficult because the names are not alphabetically organized. Whenever the log is updated, we the active forum users check it to know the current DT members in the forum, that is who was removed and who was added, so I am suggesting that the names should be alphabetically arrange in the next updates.
Who was Removed and who was added
This can also be identify easily if it is arranged in alphabetical way. It is just a suggestion for easy search of DT users in the
DT update log
. If the suggestion sound good then let the next updates should be alphabetical. But let theymos and Cyrus etc should be at the top for 1 and 2  then the rest should be orderly arranged.

I don't really understand your aim OP but I don't think you should be too concerned about how things are being done concerning the DT members, unless you have it in mind on becoming one. There are things that we shouldn't even talk about on this Forum unless you have a target, so if theymos is at the bottom it doesn't change the fact that they're doing there job and doing it perfectly well so no questions should be asked and why they're being listed at the bottom, so OP let it be.

Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.

That's not a big deal, is just to notify whosoever wants to bump a topic that have stayed for more than 120 days if he or she wants to continue, is not that you're breaking any of the rules guiding this platform or whatever the case seems to be. Is like the forum sees it as less importance to go on with it but is still left for you to continue or not, at first when I bumped a topic I thought it wasn't meant to be (after seeing that message) until I continued, that was when I discovered that it was ok not that I did something outside the Forum rules.
1730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: July 04, 2023, 02:12:46 AM
I tend to agree with this.
Not only on the OP case but also for those newbies who have difficulties getting even a single merit.  That's because of the laziness they have, it should be they need to engage in more valuable topic discussion and also encourage them to make a quality post.  So getting merit isn't a barrier for them and thinking to buy just to rank up.

It's a high chance that you'll get caught if you'll frequently doing this buying merit to someone.
It possibly ruins your account in the future if you abuse this merit system, so thinking buying merit isn't good at all so I personally discourage you about this.  Focus on how to contribute to the forum well and this merit thing will unexpectedly come to you.

You're correct but how do you intend to encourage the newbies if they have done all they could to create a quality post and yet nothing is coming (like the merit)? Since you and I know how difficult it is to get at least one merit for a start, how do you encourage them?
It seems to be easy to say but getting it right is the problem, some newbies ain't lazy per say, we have no idea how individuals on this forum make out time to do something that would catch the eyes of every user on this Forum (as in creating something informative), so I won't use the word lazy on some of the newbies, it some how discourage them to me but I don't know about you since that's your own opinion tho, a little thumbs up should be given to them at least.
1731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 03, 2023, 05:46:57 PM
Manchester United are still messing around with one of the best goalkeeper in the world, I'm talking about David de Gea. With UTD thinking of getting Onana from Inter Milan, I feel is not going to work out as it stands. While the dedicated goalkeeper of UTD has given the Manchester United board a big yes that he wants to stay but it seems they're taking him for granted, first they didn't accept his proposal as to agree to his terms and now they're making him look like he has no other choice, yes David de Gea made the UTD board to see that his committed to the club that's why they don't want to give him what he wants, if I were to be the keeper I'd increase my salary to even make them seek for my service not the other way round.
Several sources I read on social media David De Gea is in a free agent status for now and this is quite surprising because a few weeks ago Manchester United had made an offer of a one year contract extension for Dea Gea. Maybe it's related to salary issues and De Gea doesn't agree to the salary reduction offered by Manchester United, so the agreement regarding a contract extension is deadlocked and thus Manchester United will not renew the contract with him again.

The market price for De Gea is around £17 million and so far no club has officially confirmed they are willing to sign De Gea on a free transfer. This is a great opportunity for Al Nassr to bring De Gea and I think the opportunity for De Gea to move to Saudi Arabia will be realized in the next few days.

The reason they're treating De Gea this way is because he has no pride, they have seen him for whom he is, they know he is welling to play for the club no matter what. If he has that spirit of forcing his way out from the club by now they won't waste time to double his salary from the beginning even if he'll be the second choice. Like who won't want a goalie like De Gea to be on his team? That's the thing with Manchester United and if you check no club is even coming for those players they're ready to sell, see how bad it is for UTD, they can't get any business done as it is.
1732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: July 03, 2023, 05:18:42 PM
let me give you one as a motivation for you to more valuable posts. Try to accept the forum as a source of valuable information, and not as a source of income. When you accept this, and learn to read and not just write what comes to mind, your merit will come to you for free.

I must confess you're one hell of a motivator, I never thought I'd see such coming from you @lovesmayfamilis, never thought you're this free in terms of encouraging new members on this Forum. That's really nice of you I must say.

Is best to accept the forum the way it is than having a different point of view about it, by making it all about ones self. Giving better information on different topics without thinking of what you'd gain in return can divert your mind from thinking more of getting merit and speaking from experience it makes you desperate and you loose focus on the forum if care is not taken.

1734  Other / Meta / Re: fillippone merited thread need more support of merit source. on: July 03, 2023, 07:52:08 AM
do you know that merits sources is hidden theymos did not make open when making some people a merit sources so that no one will disturb them through pm to give them merit, so nobody merits  sources is giving merit hidden, I know this my thread is a personal suggestion of supporting a particular thread which one of the merits sources created which may or they may not support the thread because they have a designation were they spend their own merits but people their merits is open is the people I mentioned and I have already notice their good wills including any other persons, I'm not pleading any one to merit in that thread or begging but i make my observation and opinion be known in public

I quite agree with you on that ( theymos did not make open when making some people a merit sources so that no one will disturb them through pm) speaking on that thread, I feel the load over there is very very much for one person to handle and we can't really point out that this is a merit source to help out but I feel they should make the merit distribution as random as possible no matter the thread. They're not doing bad but no matter the thread I'd say let all merit source help scout out better post to be merited, we all know some people don't have patience but is for the best of the OP to see a helping hand to reduce his work load. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if this seems to be the way they want it to be then so be it.
1735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin must surpass gold on: July 03, 2023, 07:18:51 AM
There are two reasons. First, Bitcoin is a non-credit currency ten times stronger than gold. So unless Bitcoin is replaced. Otherwise he must surpass gold. Second, Bitcoin is close to being the ideal non-credit currency, and it is basically impossible to have another non-credit currency beyond Bitcoin. Combine these two points and Bitcoin is bound to surpass gold

It can only happen if Bitcoin becomes the standard currency to trade within the future, which we all know will take a very long time to happen, then it will surpass gold. But if not so I'd say not yet because Bitcoin is a currency that has not yet stood the test of time (as in stood it's ground across the globe) and it's just used as currency by certain people, meaning that it's not accepted world wide and for it to surpass gold it has to be accepted first before that can happen.
1736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 03, 2023, 03:50:41 AM
With the transfer window still on, it is said that Chelsea Fc are looking for a striker who would replace Lukaku if he leaves for another club this summer, so to bluster their attack it is said that they are prepared to offer a cash plus Christian Pulisic in other to tempt the Italian gaints Juventus into giving them Dusan Vlahovic as they continue their striker search.
Chelsea fc are willing to include a significant cash price + Pulisic to get their target while Juventus would be willing to let go of their man for a fee of about €80million, it is clear that Dusan doesn't have any future with juventus no more so they're willing to let him go for the right price, he's a very good striker and good at getting the goals but I still feel he won't adopt to the style of play in the Premier league but with pochettino so desperate to begin with a new striker let's see if Juventus will be willing to accept a cash price of €60million + Christian Pulisic.

https://thehardtackle.com/transfer-news/2023/07/03/chelsea-line-up-part-exchange-deal-to-sign-dusan-vlahovic/

Lukaku's case as a Chelsea forward isn't meant to be, like they're not even considering him a Chelsea player, he has no place to return to, if not for anything they (Chelsea) could just sold him to any team just to gather funds to chase a better player. Vlahovic has been a better player last campaign, scoring goals and proven that he's a better striker and he would be a great addition to the Chelsea side that lacks a number 9.

With Pulisic on the mix, I feel Juventus will ask for more money plus the player (Pulisic) because he hasn't been in his best form, he's one of those players that we hardly see contributing to the Chelsea side last season, even the newly signed players gets more match time than him last season. I feel the said €60m might be rejected by Juventus for Chelsea to add it up because the player Pulisic hasn't been in good form, Juve might tempted Chelsea to add more cash.
1737  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not Another Merit Question. Please Hear Me Out on: July 02, 2023, 09:53:12 PM
In this forum, it is almost considered taboo for newcomers to discuss merits. The typical response received is often critical. Some individuals attempt to convey their message politely by advising new members not to focus on merits, but rather to concentrate on creating high-quality posts without making merits their primary goal. Personally, I have doubts about this perspective. In order to progress on this forum, one must actively pursue growth and development. Being intentional entails setting goals.

If you talk about merits is like that's the only target you have on this platform but focusing on quality post how sure are we that the merit that we shouldn't think of would come? Because is when you have merit that's when you reach those higher ranks like hero and legendary.
And in as much as we want our ranks to grow or to get more merit we must still do what's best for the Forum, what will make it grow not to think of getting merit and trying to rank up. To me I won't advise any newbie to only focus on quality post but it should be the two, quality post and merit, they're both important.

Quote
This question is directed to everyone, but particularly to those who belong to the esteemed 5k plus merit club. Did you ever set a merit goal for yourself, such as aiming for 2000 or 5000 merits by a certain point in time? Or did you simply remain an active member without explicitly considering merits, only to one day discover that your account had accumulated 5000 plus merits?

To me, I don't think anyone has it in mind that they'd reach a certain amount of merit, if you keep posting something interesting you might get lucky and get a merit but you shouldn't expect it to always come whenever you make any post. And being active doesn't assure you that you'd get a merit is just hard work and what you have to offer then eyes would see the effort you put in to your work.
1738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 02, 2023, 06:00:43 PM
Are things getting out of hands with the way the Saudi side are recruiting players from all parts of Europe, I feel with time we won't be getting enough super stars in the UCL, UEL even the conference league and to top it all, in all domestic leagues. Last time this kind of thing happened was China league now we're seeing Saudi league trying to improve their league by getting the likes of Ronaldo and some other footballers, you name them.
Won't be surprised if Fabrizio announce that Mbappe has decided to join on of the clubs @ Saudi and negotiations are on going. This is the busiest transfer window so far, players are coming and going out.
1739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which one of this is important most? on: July 02, 2023, 03:39:12 PM
Reputation is how people see you or their opinion about you and it all depends on if you're doing the right thing or not and the impression people have about you might change. Rank and reputation ain't the same, the rank is the position you are on the forum and the merit system helps to keep it going so without the merit the rank stays without going up. IMO I'd say reputation is important than ranking, because ranking doesn't tell who you are.
1740  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The possibility of bitcoin becoming a global currency. on: July 02, 2023, 02:46:48 PM
With the reality of wealth being amassed through bitcoin overtime by so many individuals globally,i see bitcoin taking over  or becoming a global currency.
This for me of course may take time to happen, with the right education in the heart of the old and young old and young which of course is not an easy task but give it time it can be  possible.

What is your take on this?

There's a possibility that Bitcoin will become a global currency some day, but when? No one knows how it will happen or when but the reality is that it won't be that easy. With the false information about Bitcoin that's making individuals to relent on taking a step in making this battle come to reality, is disturbing.
And for various reasons, government won't replace their fiat currencies with Bitcoin, that's where the problem lies and I don't see it happening anytime soon with the way things are at the moment.
