861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What I did just to invest in Bitcoin. on: November 06, 2023, 08:46:37 AM
Do you know how stupid this sounds? The step you took is very annoying and you could end up paying big for it, what if you lost access to that Bitcoin? Just make sure you keep the keys safe and let me tell you a thing about family properties, even if the Bitcoin brings higher amount of gains in the future, the step you took to acquire it will never be erased, even your kids will get to know about it, and my question is can you be proud enough to tell your kids about this? If you child come to your face and tell you that he want to sell the family land to invest how will you feel?

That's the problem with desperation, you don't think straight and it has to be with newbies that only see the positive side of investing on Bitcoin and the knowledge isn't there but with the little they know, they think they know it all. And family property that you know is not for one person is very bad to put it upon himself to sell.
The OP made a decision that he thought would favor him, fine it will but how can he pay back for what will happen after selling the land? What if in the nearest future the family wants to sell the land to save someone's life or something urgent to help the family?
If the land is not there and everything went bad in the investment, OP would live in regret and he can't change the hands of time.
862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerians spend $975m daily on online betting on: November 06, 2023, 08:11:26 AM
Data from the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) has revealed that over 65 million Nigerians actively engage in betting, spending an average of $15 daily. This is just as it disclosed that everyday, 14 million bet takes and payments are made online in the country. continue reading here....

Recalled that Nigeria population is estimated to be around 200+million and from the information above, over 65 million people are engaged in gambling on a daily basis amounting to over 32% of the country population. With the recent economic crisis and hardship affecting almost all the nations, if large number of people are spending this much on betting, can we say that they relied on gambling to survive?

But, I think we need to know how much betting sites are paying out daily too, so we can make comparison.  Grin

That's a very huge amount, I was even expecting it to be more than what they're giving us. But before they start dropping figures of money spent on betting, have they made any calculations of winnings customers are having in year, month, weeks and days? Have they try to know how much customers get in terms of winning?
To me the spending on gambling isn't close to the winnings because we have customers who stake high to win a larger sum of money and they're ready to do that every week and their winning percentage is, let's say 85-90%.
To me many people win more than some lose, and some people use betting or should I say gambling as a means of survival in Nigeria (not only in Nigeria but other countries) and is going well for them no matter how hard the economy is.
863  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 06, 2023, 07:29:08 AM
At least that madness of looking that unbeaten run has come to an end, let's see what the Gunners have to offer. From the looks of things it seems they (Arsenal) value that unbeaten run more than going all out to get the job done, instead of winning a game they prefer playing out a draw, that's if they can't get a win. That's very poor coming from Arteta and his boys, let's hope Arsenal will start up a new chapter of winning games and scoring more goals.
Tottenham Hotspur are the only team that's playing unbeaten at the moment and Chelsea could be the team to stop from continuing that unbeaten run, despite the Blues not being in good form and their ability of even getting more than 2-3 goals in a match is a bigger problem. Tonight's game can be a turning point for Chelsea to start their winning, that's if they get a victory against the North London Club Tottenham Hotspur.
864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not share your bitcoin holdings with everyone on: November 06, 2023, 06:05:46 AM
I was listening to a news that one of the relatives of a person kidnapped him and asked him for bitcoin in ransom. This happened because that person showed his bitcoin holdings to many of his relatives and news spread among them that he has lot of money invested in crypto. Though, finally funds were recovered from that guy but he could have even lost his life in the whole scenario. Thus, you should be careful with disclosing about your bitcoin holdings to everyone.

I feel that's just show off and carelessness because I see no reason why he should show his sweat to not just 1 but more than one of his relatives. Definitely it would spread and they can do anything just to get hold of his money. Your passcode or anything concerning your wallet or anything that you feel you're using to secure your assets shouldn't be shown to nobody but one person that it can be shown to, just that person you trust with your life, that should be YOU and nobody else.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What I did just to invest in Bitcoin. on: November 06, 2023, 05:54:04 AM
About one or two months ago I created my first thread about my regrets for not not getting into bitcoin on time when I was first introduced to it by my friend many years ago.
And how I have made a decision to start my bitcoin journey because I now realized I made the biggest mistake of my life back then. Before my very eyes I have seen bitcoin turn the life of people around and gave them financial freedom.
I must say the truth since I made that first post I didn't just feel relaxed. Firstly I went ahead to read the bitcoin whitepaper to have a full knowledge about what bitcoin was all about. And I was glad I read that whitepaper. After that I took some drastic actions to make my first bitcoin investment. I did something which is making everyone around angry and he complaining bitterly about that. I sold our family land and used the money to invest on bitcoin. Initially I told them I want to sell the land and use the money to travel abroad. If I had told them I wanted to invest it in bitcoin they wouldn't have allowed me sell the land. I have tried educating them about bitcoin but they were not just interested to listen to me as they are all illiterates. Now the truth has finally come out and everyone is on my neck to get back the money. I told told them I invested the money, they thought I have spent the money on women and other things. I have been abused several times but I don't care because I know the money is safe and never lost. I understand that in everything good there must be some challenges and set backs. My resolution to invest in bitcoin is final and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

Wow, that's one hell of a story. First and foremost brother, you shouldn't beat yourself because things didn't work out the way you expected or wished it should've gone, you failed to go into Bitcoin doesn't mean there wasn't a reason.
With what you heard about Bitcoin giving people financial freedom, is true but it doesn't mean what works for others will definitely work for you, that's where you got it wrong. You can start investing on Bitcoin and things might go bad for you in the line of investment, desperation can make you make that wrong call just because you want to be like others who made it through Bitcoin.

You have a family that doesn't see investing in Bitcoin is worth it not that is bad in going into the crypto world but they choose not to be interested and you can't force anybody to do whatever you want just because you have interest for it, life is a choice brother.
You said you are the educated one and they're not but you still want to force them to do what they don't want to do, too harsh. And I like that you're eager to invest on Bitcoin and you can go to any length just to get it done but where the problem lies is selling your Family property just because you're desperate in starting an investment on Bitcoin.
When you're Investing in Bitcoin or any other investment is not all about the profit aspect you talk about, you lose some and you gain some, because you put it to yourself that you MUST do it, went to sell your family land behind them all to start up your investment, haven't you thought about the negative side of it? What if things didn't go as planned what excuse would you give your family members?
To me your action was selfish.
When you getting into any Crypto business, is best you use what's yours so that if anything went wrong it's on you and nobody to blame you for it or ask you for refund. Borrowing too is not advisable to start up any form of investment.
866  Other / Archival / Re: I am a newbie on: November 06, 2023, 05:12:23 AM
sometimes when you are putting newbies in order they will feel assaulted and criticism in all ramifications whereas you are giving them a hit of what to do in order to actualize their dreams

You would not blame them when they feel that way, some members don't know how to go about correcting the newbies here and you'd agree with me that is not all the new comers (newbies) that can endure hurtful words, because some of these high ranked members knows how to use hurtful words to address issues and that doesn't mean they meant it the wrong way but for good though and it can be misinterpreted by the newbie(s) to be for hate or something, you know?
So all these things happens not because the newbies don't want to learn from those who are here before them but because they couldn't take the way it's being addressed to them. But I still agree with you that some newbies are not even ready to learn or take corrections no matter how you put it to them either the soft way or the hard way.
867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 05, 2023, 10:24:31 PM
Madrid's match entered extra time now but the score is still unchanged.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting this as I wanted 3 points for Madrid but if it's a 1 point game then it'll be a great week for Girona as they can comfortably secure top spot for at least another week.
Madrid were very good in attack but they wasted a lot of chances in this game which is the problem. It looks like Week 12 won't be a good one for some of the big clubs as after the shock of Atletico yesterday it's now Madrid who are still struggling to get 3 points against Rayo.

This is a very disappointing performance coming from the Madrid side, as many would expect them to go out and win the game, it happened to be that they couldn't take advantage of their chances. Is as if they're relaxed or should I say getting ready for champions league game that's why they drew, but I can't imagine a team that's known for going out and winning every game and securing the 3pt would drop point at this stage.
Champions League games ain't suppose to make Madrid lose or draw a game everyone thought they win, to me I feel Madrid are gradually losing that touch of brilliance, with time they won't be that sharp on the field of play and it will hunt them very well. To me the Braga game in the champions league shouldn't be a problem for them to draw tonight's game.

OP I hate to say this but I just have to say it, this I'm a newbie thread is really common and if you had gone round the Forum you'd see similar threads, you would have just gone their and ask for help to learn things about Bitcoin trading or wherever you choose to do. But it has already been done.
Before you start up any thread try and check if such thread related to what you want to start has already been opened on the Forum. Just wish you good luck on your adventure on the Forum.
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching Bitcoin is not do or die on: November 05, 2023, 08:06:09 PM
In response to your point that pressure doesnt work, it brings up an interesting problem. No one can be forced to learn something they dont want to, but the draw of money can sometimes change people's minds. There is a fine line between promoting the benefits of Bitcoin and letting the possible learner make their own decisions.

Trying to force some to learn something especially Bitcoin is like investing on something you know won't produce anything positive, the best thing is to let them to choose if they want to learn or not.
Money is one huge factor that can not only change people's mind but the behavior of humans too, when someone who knows nothing about Bitcoin get to know that it can yield a lot of money it can make that person to do whatever it takes to get money to invest as long as it will bring x3 of his investment, he can steal to give it a try (that's where money can change the behavior of some humans), but he has no idea of what he's getting into.

871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 04, 2023, 03:11:06 AM
If we use the head to head results in the last season, I agree that it seems no longer accurate. There are already some changes, Girona has improved very significantly in this season. With the current performance of Girona, it is likely easy to beat Osasuna although the match will be held in Osasuna home. So far, Girona only got 1 defeat, it was in matchday 8, against Real Madrid. They have no problem with other teams, Real Madrid is the only team that can defeat Girona.

I agree with you that the Girona side have improved and they're not in any mood to taste a defeat again, they just need to get a win in this encounter against Osasuna, at least that would mount a lot of pressure on Madrid which are topping the league at the moment.
That loose to Madrid really kept Girona where they are now, only if they hard gotten a draw or even won that game I believe by now Madrid would have been behind Girona. But today's game is going to be another opportunity to close that gap between them and Madrid and I see Girona scaling through in that encounter.
872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: November 04, 2023, 02:57:44 AM
PSG has always been the better side in all encounter they've had since the beginning of this season, is just that they're lost focus in some of the games even in the UCL. But tonight they face Montpellier which I don't see the away team to be a problem for the domestic champions.
It would be a smooth run for the home side, a win would make them top the table with Nice having a game at hand so if PSG blow this chance of being at the top then I see Nice who are sitting at the top getting a win and a gap (on point) above PSG.
They had some rough times along the line but I think they were still focused because they were still given out their best just that it did reflected in their performance that they did had some issues because it was quiet obvious amongst the players especially with mbappe.

Montpellier won't be a serious challenge to PSG especially as PSG will be playing at home, they are better when compared to Montpelier but then they shouldn't underestimate Montpelier because it's very possible they would want to win and smaller teams usually do so whenever they meet with bigger team, if PSG wins to night, they will be at the top of the table as they will be above Nice by two points. Nice are at the top of the table with 22 points while PSG will have 24 points.

And they (PSG) got the point they needed to at least stay at the top for 24hours plus, before Nice get on with their game later tomorrow.
With this win for PSG, I believe that it will motivate Nice to go stronger on their opponent, talking about Rennes who are currently occupying the 8th position, I don't see that game going too easy for Nice.
Rennes are trying to be at the top 4 which is some how going as planned for them and a win would move them 4th on the log until those behind loses or draw their game (hopefully), that's the only way they (Rennes) would sit comfortable at 4th position. To me is going to be either a narrow win for Nice or they could play out a draw.
873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching Bitcoin is not do or die on: November 04, 2023, 01:03:51 AM
Teaching good things doesn't harm anyone even though you're not interested in it but it helps them to become aware of it. It is simple, it gives them an opening idea that Bitcoin really exists and many people had already been involved with this. Maybe we could say that they are not interested upon reaching out and telling them today but can possible that they will change along the way after hearing it from us personally. In fact, we can't expect that those interested people will then start to invest and use Bitcoin, the same thing happen to those who are not interested.

Teaching and learning goes hand in hand, because you can be teaching and the nobody is paying attention. It all depends on if the person is interested in what you're teaching, to avoid being snubbed while teaching is best to let the individual know what you want to teach and how profitable it would be to him or her.
There's no amount of pressure apply to let someone learn something, if he or she chooses not to then you wasting your time and energy. In teaching Bitcoin, to me I don't think you should talk much while starting to convince anybody, talk less and watch the body language of the person, that alone would pass a message to let you know how interested the person is or not.
874  Economy / Economics / Re: Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...? on: November 04, 2023, 12:48:35 AM
Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...?

A friend of mine asking me a business idea, and he told me it is a big profit business idea, I'm missing out for not entertaining his advice! He told me everything would be smooth sailing, and very big profit too.

Let's be enterpreneur and make this a mind your own business (MYOB)

I also only want a business that is profitable as soon as I form it legally, register the entity, file for licensing, any paper work, legal business by laws (no selling weeds or explosive).

So the business should be: today I officially launch it, the next day, profit start rolling in, and it would last eternally, the income stream keep coming for the next 999 years, and it would be suffice to self sustain, self reliance include financing every operational cost by itself, and only happy ending. Not a single bad ending.

btw, no selling snake oil. Must have actual product, or service that is consider perishable. Also no to the Elon Musk's infamous tweets "You can sell stock you don't own, short selling is legal only for vestigial reason" bullshit or etc.

OP, with all you have said, start up a business today and profit starts coming the next day, mehn...that should be day dreaming business because that only exist in the dreamland.
Every successful businessmen you see around today don't just start their business today and profit starts jumping in, they take their time to put things in place, patience is the key to success and they have the vision of becoming bigger in future not the next day like you imagined it.
Sometimes quick money doesn't pay, you'd agree with me that it only lead to your doom if care isn't taken, take your time and put more effort rather than building imaginary castle in your head. Is like building a house without foundation, you must start from somewhere to get to the top, nothing good comes easy.
875  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you rather start/grow a business from scratch or buy an existing business? on: November 04, 2023, 12:16:13 AM
So, given that the resources are available or not and you are presented with the opportunity to start/grow or buy an existing business just like Elon Musk, which option is more preferential and benefitial to you?

With the way the economy is I'd prefer starting a business rather than buying, in buying you spend more than when you start it yourself. Let's say I have the funds already I'd start it up myself. Is best to start from scratch with you knowing the in and out of the business you're getting in, if you're owing or not at least that's a business you begin with that shows honesty no lies and you'd be comfortable with everything that's goes in with it.
If should anything happens to it, it will be your fault and you have nobody to blame as a true businessman, other than  making use of an "already made business" where it's presented to you without all details given out to you and you have to figure out if the business has loop holes like depts and some other stuff you need to take care of to make it stable. To me is best to start up a business than buying an existing one.

Paris Saint Germain are in a good situation right now, with the opponent they will face, it should be a victory for them to get in this match. It would be a shame if they had to lose in a match that makes them a big favorite. Indeed, they are always a favorite in almost every match they will do, it is inseparable from the composition of the players they have. But that also does not guarantee that they will really win in the matches they run.
Now I'm pretty sure they will be able to win the match with at least a difference of 2 goals.

PSG has always been the better side in all encounter they've had since the beginning of this season, is just that they're lost focus in some of the games even in the UCL. But tonight they face Montpellier which I don't see the away team to be a problem for the domestic champions.

877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 03, 2023, 05:19:20 PM
This should not be a difficult match for them to win, but they should not underestimate their opponent either. Las Palmas will be playing at their home ground, as the host they will not want the visitors to win.
On the other hand Atletico Madrid are in a very good situation now, in La Liga they have recorded 5 consecutive wins. That is a very good capital for them to then continue their positive trend in La Liga.
Oh yes Atletico Madrid is also a very productive team, not only that because they also have a defense that is difficult to penetrate.

I don't see Atletico Madrid as a team that underestimate smaller clubs, as of before like last season they (ATM) just had to play bad and lose a game but this season they go through any team that's standing on their way and make sure the 3 pt is secured.
They just don't play to get the point but give the fans nice and excellent football, and is hard to make the attacker Morata to be uncomfortable on the pitch. He always finds a way to either get an assist or score a goal(s). Tonight's game Las Palmas will struggle to get the ball and Antoine Griezmann would make sure of that.
878  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will $BTC soar beyond 35K or dip below? 🚀📉 on: November 03, 2023, 05:03:22 PM
What if the price of Bitcoin gives us something very weak, like the expectations of the up coming halving let's say we're expecting a higher price and by next year we start seeing Bitcoin price dropping very fast to maybe $30k or $28k?
I would still be fine with that, because this year there are a lot of people who have seen Bitcoin prices lower than the price you said so it probably wouldn't be a big deal for most people if it happened. However, if traders are buying Bitcoin above the price you said, maybe they just have to be patient for a recovery and don't panic about such a drop.

You'd be fine but with what you expected to happen might seem to be disappointing to you even if you won't admit it. Is like you're expecting something big but at the end things just fall apart.
People seeing Bitcoin going at lower rate isn't encouraging to them so they just have to hope it goes up and that's what many are expecting to happen. To me this isn't the time to panic about the delay or drop of price, I believe from next week or even starting from tomorrow we'd be seeing something different (positively) in the market price.
879  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will $BTC soar beyond 35K or dip below? 🚀📉 on: November 03, 2023, 02:26:29 PM
What if the price of Bitcoin gives us something very weak, like the expectations of the up coming halving let's say we're expecting a higher price and by next year we start seeing Bitcoin price dropping very fast to maybe $30k or $28k?
We shouldn't have too much hope on the coming halving, like is suppose to be but what if things doesn't go as expected?
$35k is really difficult to stay more than a day and it got me thinking that this first week of November won't give anything more than what we're seeing at the moment.
We have every right to expect halving because history has shown us that, and we need to be optimistic about our investment. But we also need to have plans for bad scenarios if the bull season does not take place and this is part of the investment risk that we should not ignore.

At least you'd agree with me that we should always expect the negative side of this halving, not that we shouldn't expect the halving, because I know history has it that it will happen but that doesn't mean that you'd let your guard down, is like you pray for the best and prepare for the worse, I believe we only hope for the best on this issue. Let the time comes and we'd see how the whole thing would look like.

Quote
Bitcoin hits $35K and brings profits to short-term investors, and its correction, I think everyone can predict. I'm also waiting for a correction to happen instead of expecting bitcoin to continue rising, I'm holding USDT and waiting for bitcoin to drop below $32k  Wink Wink.

Waiting for Bitcoin to drop below $32k, did I get that right? I'm not sure if you're serious about that, from the market price, Bitcoin price isn't surpassing $34k yet, doesn't mean it won't in the next coming days. If there should be a movement on Bitcoin price I feel it shouldn't be going down but up to $35-$36k.

Manchester United really have lost that glorious days when you'd see UTD losing 3-0 and is 78'mins on the clock before 90'mins the score line have changed in favor of Manchester United, that's when the team have that spirit of fighting back, that winning mentally but now we don't have those players and those abilities any more.
And the team don't even have a better leader since they stripped off the captain arm ban from Maguire, Roy Keane the former Manchester United player have come out to say that Bruno isn't fit to be the captain of the side.
Sometimes these past players have a hand to play in making their former team to do well and otherwise. At this point I think the team doesn't have that leader to make the other players work harder to do better even when they're losing and I think Bruno can't do that, he easily get frustrated whenever they're losing which isn't healthy for the team.
When Bruno gets frustrated it affects the other players because he's suppose to keep them in check till the end of the game. Man UTD has so many problems to tackle and they should start from the owners. And they shouldn't sack Erik ten Hag, because that's the next move they're ready to make.
