1747  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hashing Speed? on: March 03, 2013, 07:45:28 PM
why an avalon ASIC has a greater hash speed than other ATI GPUs also GPUs are more expensive than avalon asic, from a technecal point of view what's the main aspect in a gpu that affects the hashing speed?
Because an ASIC is specific hardware, designed to mine, nothing else.

Explained Bitcoin to a room full of people last night.

It went from "Why would you want them, who backs them, isn't this a ponzi?" To "Where can I buy some?" in under 15 minutes.

congrats. how? Let me guess, it was at a "anonymous weed user" meetup? Ah, no. That would've taken only 1 minute.

LOL!
Nah, it was actually a room full of mostly southern people that were over 50.

As to how, I grab a piece of paper and start drawing out how it works. I tell them to stop and ask questions at any time. It's the 4th time I've done it this way, made believers every time.

I used to work at Circuit City when it was still in business. If I could sell worthless Monster HDMI cables, I think I can sell worthwhile Bitcoin.  Wink
It is your holy duty to do a video about that so that we can learn from you, because explaining how bitcoin works in a clear and understandable way is what we need  Cheesy
1750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upgrade bitcoin.org on: March 03, 2013, 07:24:15 PM
It is awesome, finally a decent website  Cheesy

My suggestion? Put more things on the homepage
1751  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: can someone explain this to me? on: March 02, 2013, 09:22:14 PM
The elite are the banks that can print money at will and give it to their friend banks. You can't compete in a fair way with this system, of course.

The elite do not want bitcoin because you cannot print bitcoins at will. Look at what the FED is doing with dollars, billions and billions are printed, that's how they bailed out the banks in the subprime thing bubble crash. Banks invested and traded in these fail loans, once the bubble exploded you would expect them to fail, since if you buy loans where 50% of them can't be repaid, you deserve to fail. But the government saved them.
Try doing this with bitcoin, you can't print billions of bitcoins at will and save these idiots
1752  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can anyone give me an advice about mining? I just started mining on: March 02, 2013, 05:44:28 PM
Nah, you are mostly right. Yup, solo mining is about finding a block, if you find it, 25BTC (the reward halves every 4 years, no more 50 btc per block today! Only 25)

are really expensive
1300$ for a 60.000Mhash/s or 150$ for a jalapeno with 4500Mhash/s is not really expensive Cheesy A rig with 3 or 4 GPU cost more!
1753  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are Coinabul still operating? on: March 02, 2013, 05:40:00 PM
Let me understand: matthew open the thread for the famous pirate bet, no one send money, no one lose money and he get a "scammer" tag; he scammed exactly 0 bitcoins. Here someone PAID for something, DID NOT receive it, no scammer tag?

Guys seriously, something is totally wrong lol. Roll Eyes

This thread=fail
1755  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can anyone give me an advice about mining? I just started mining on: March 02, 2013, 04:04:00 PM
Specialized hardware for mining. For 1300$ for example you can get 60.000 Mhash/s
1756  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Conceptual question ? on: March 02, 2013, 04:00:05 PM
What "network sync?" When you send a transaction every node will receive it and a miner will put it in a block. If you try a doublespend, it will be refused by everyone.

Also please do not confuse blockchain with the website blockchain.info (yay, so much idiot to name a website like an important part of bitcoin, so everyone is confused...)
1757  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-02-28 oddballstocks.com Another Oddball Investment, Bitcoin on: March 02, 2013, 03:09:17 PM
The author in the comment: "Ah, very important point. So then why is it taking an increased processing power to mine each new coin?"

If you don't know how it works then why writing things like: "The system is built so that each new coin created costs more than the last when measured in processing time.  This means that in theory the supply is limited." ??
1758  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can anyone give me an advice about mining? I just started mining on: March 02, 2013, 02:59:22 PM
An advice about mining? Stop or buy an ASIC.
