AMT is dumb enough to waste their money I say GO FOR IT
Actually, since they're refusing to refund customers, it's customers funds that they're wasting on lawyers.

Just spoke with an attorney in Illinois, after reviewing some of your posts he says this an open and shut case Bruno. We're excited.
Ask your attorney what he thinks about your ongoing copyright infringement. Here's a starting place: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-violation.html

Jesus, REFUND. Why are people still contemplating whether or not to get refunds? They shit the bed on delivery. They shit the bed on pricing. They shit the bed on efficiency. BTC is in a slump, get a refund and enjoy the best possible return on your 'investment' even if you're in the red.
There is absolutely no scenario here where if you have the option to refund, you shouldn't.
No kidding! Even BFL employees are requesting refunds. If you can't even sell to your own employees, who can you sell to?

We only have crappy images. When the first shipments go out of BE200 we'll upload the images. Honestly what makes you think we were capable of developing firmware, com'n you bash us and our lack of skill sets everyday. Stick to one argument.
Unfortunately (for you), distributing binary open source software without the source code is a copyright violation. The copyright holders will be notified.

Hi AMT!
By chance are you distributing any open source software in your machines?
Let's try again. Are you distributing open source software?
|
|
|
Yeah, the thing is that the source code I referred to isn't innosilicon's to sell - althought they've been doing a lot of that haven't they? Cgminer is under PGL 3 license, terms of which include the requirement for all the source code for any modifications to the software to be made publicly available. Also, the product must be shipped with documentation indicating that open source software is included along with the component's author(s).
Every legitimate asic manufacturer is doing this - aside from bitmaintech and anyone who bought or licensed innosilicon's design. I've heard from a few of these manufacturers who claim they were never provided source code, just an RPI disk image. I tend to believe them.
By "where" I mean where will you be publishing? Most tend to post on github although there are exceptions.
The good news is AMT is a US company. It will be quite easy to prosecute them for GPL violations.

Nice try AMT, but it's hopeless. A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by the starter of a self-moderated topic. There are no rules of self-moderation, so this deletion cannot be appealed. LOL. You haven't delivered the miner he paid for months ago, and you're asking for more money. Wow.

Shipping of Monarchs will begin next week.
Here is an image of the Monarch ready for shipment to customers right now.
Which is it? Is it ready for shipping "right now" or "next week"?

I have not gotten my miner yet so I wont have anything to go by.
AMT's biggest supporter and they didn't even do you the courtesy of shipping you a miner like everyone else. That's gotta sting.

As a reward for customers' patience and loyalty, we are adjusting the price of the 700 GH/s boards to $1,379 (ONLY $1.97/GH)

Don't underestimate the hosting advantage, you will be charged for space as well as power and 10 S3's take up a lot of space which can more than make up the initial difference in hardware cost.
Hardly. Almost every hosting contract for miners is rated by power. Even for S3s.

update from your boy Josh: "I've always tried to do right by the miners, and being a former miner myself I've always been keenly aware of how miners think. On occasion I am overruled here about various points in the past. However, with the new plan, I think everyone is going to be pretty pleased within the context of having miners now vs months ago. I know the most desirable outcome was to have miners a long time ago, but since that didn't happen, I think our new package is going to satisfy the majority, if not everyone. Especially given the fact that as it stands at the moment, you should be able to decide on our offering or a full refund up until your product actually ships, giving you the most flexible option possible. As I said, if I were mining today and were presented with the options we will be offering, I would be as satisfied as possible short of having my miners months ago. I'm actually pretty exited to announce it." https://forums.butterflylabs.com/the-monarch-discussion/8738-august-10th-production-update-discussion-3.htmlThey promised Nov '13 shipping, and haven't shipped yet. Difficulty has increased over 20x. If they compensate with 20x hashrate then I'd believe Josh. Anything less and he's simply a liar.

Please don't believe KnC's lies. Here is an independent report about SP30 power consumption:
To be fair, that's an extreme case by running highest possible voltage. Very few people will be able to run their SP30 at 258V. Feel free to post efficiency at 110V.

The fiat price of Bitcoin really doesn't matter much.
Not sure how that can be... More bitcoins = more fiat. Less bitcoins = less fiat. The fiat price of Bitcoin really doesn't matter much...when calculating the profitability of an already purchased miner.

People screaming about injustice here need an attitude adjustment, seriously.
"OMG I didnt get my magic internet money making machine in time to make money wahhhhhhh wahhhh"
BOO FING HOO. File Black Arrow among the countless businesses people have invested in that failed. Shit happens.
We gambled and lost. Thats it. Dont act like a baby.
Accepting personal responsibility for making a poor choice to preorder a product which wasnt even fully designed rests squarely on YOU.
Acknowledge your role in this fiasco. Stop blaming everyone else for YOUR failure to make a good investment.
Blaming the victims is really lame.

I'm putting the funds together now so that I can be mining next week
Not gonna happen. Let me prove it to you. Last batch has shipped out. Everyone accept specific customers, and lead plaintiffs has received or will have their miners with in the next 2-7 days.
Take a look at when they "shipped". Now count how many days it has been. No one has received their miners. There is no chance you will receive a timely delivery. AMT just cannot do it. Reminder: This is an AMT-moderated thread. They will delete any messages that make them look bad.

Spondoolies's machines operate at or near the limit of their power supplies' performance, which means that running on 120V slows down the machines.
This seems to be a very short-sighted cost-cutting measure. As someone who has mined for many years, running PSUs 24/7 at 100% capacity is never a good idea.

Actually, they didn't. All they did was create a website and sent some bitcoins from one wallet of theirs to another wallet of theirs. There is no non-profit status whatsoever to it. BFL, the for-profit company, is 100% still in control of those bitcoins.
They did send some coins to Sean's Outpost, of which is verifiable. Oh, I see the confusion in my wording. Let me rephrase it. "BFL is in control of the bitcoins that have not yet been donated to charities."
