My bank is fucking rubbish with security. When I log into internet banking they ask for any 1 of my answers to 3 secret questions (mothers maiden name, first school .etc - no numbers) and 3 random digits of my 6 digit passphrase!!
When I was reading the source code to their webpages, they were written for netscape navigator.
No, I'd rather not pay the premium for their security/fraud protection. nothx, I can secure myself faaarrrr better.
That fraud protection you get isn't free. They cover that with fees, and the service in return is very poor. It's like insurance or warranty on a purchase- if you're sensible (and the risk isn't a significant portion of your savings) then it's a bad investment.

I saw that. Why do they need €50k for? That's retardedly huge. All the developers have everything they need. They don't need an office since everybody works from home. In short: why 50k? If it's some silly German law, why not setup in a cheaper country. I'm sure you can pay 1/50th that in a developing country. If this is how they spend money then it seems silly to donate to them. The Steering Committee has set itself a deadline for collecting the required funds, which will be March 21st, 2011. If, by that date, we do not have enough money through actual donations or firm pledges by sponsors, the foundation will not be formed in Germany and - instead - we will opt for a legal entity in the United Kingdom.
Nonetheless, after careful consideration of all the possibilities, we are convinced that a German-based solution provides more advantages than any other country. There's no reason to back up the wallet so often. Really, the only thing that needs backing up are they private keys associated from each account. Given a private key, you can create the public key, and from that, the address. Since Bitcoin keeps ~100 spare private keys in the wallet (for later use for change, etc), you no longer need to backup your wallet after every transaction. Ideally I think, you should back up your wallet when most of the keys from the prior backup's key pool have been used.

seriously if bitcoin is destined to go mainstream then it's bound to happen regardless of 'image'. quite simply because it's so unique and there's nothing else like it.
i say allow the freedom of expression. it's the best way to develop ideas to strengthen bitcoin. you might not see the value in offering drugs for bitcoin, but neither did people in the past at other outlandish ideas.
nothing has to be done. just sit back, ride the wave and work like beavers. the types of people easily put off by these things aren't that valuable anyway (rats jumping ship at first sign of trouble).
