Again, newbies, stop investing in these things. They will always eventually turn into scams, this kind of profit is ridiculously unsustainable and impossible.

Can you recommend a good place to start as far as investing goes? Obviously
I'm very new to the cryptocurrency scene, meaning any advice
is more than welcome and dually noted. Thank you!
(Even pointing me to a decent post with good information is greatly appreciated!)

The best advice I can give you is to not invest. The vast majority of "investments" in the Bitcoin world are scams. However, if you want a legitimate investment I recommend you research well in the Securities section. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=78.0

Collateral received, positive trust left.

KWH, can you do the same too? Also, some feedback on my reputation thread would be nice Smiley
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=517131.0

To be honest, I don't think loans with collateral are much of a reason to leave trust, as obviously they don't require any trust. Else everyone would just boost their trust by taking out loans with collateral from trusted members. Just my two cents, though.

I can see your point but if the feedback left shows 0 BTC risked OR leave the feedback on their Feedback Thread.
We had issues awhile back where people would take out ultra small loans just to bump Trust. So, perhaps the latter would suffice for the borrower?

Feedback thread is good, yes, as it can still be referred to. Trust can be misleading as a 0 BTC feedback left is basically the same as a 0.1 BTC feedback left. I think for it to count as another feedback it has to be 50 BTC feedback risked, or something like that.

They're in Beta right now though and they pay out so many coins. It doesn't seem like much but it definitely adds up.

Guys, all those floppy miner command prompts are just them messing with ya. It's impossible to mine with memory - including RAM. It's just a way to store things, there is no computational power in RAM, Floppy Disks, Hard Drives etc.

1789  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [InDev] freebitcoins.pw - Putting BTC back in your pocket! on: April 30, 2014, 04:28:23 PM

I'm here to announce the return of freebitcoins.pw! I used to run it as, in it's most basic form, a website, faucet and promotion list, but with the inputs.io hack "scam" most faucets went down so I simply stopped running the website. However I now want to revive freebitcoins.pw as a list of places where you can get free bitcoins - so I have!

Fixed.

Quote
We're currently in development so there will be a limited amount of ways to earn free Bitcoin, however we will add more ways ASAP (as soon as we see them, that is) and we will also be developing more ways for the average person to get involved with the website.

freebitcoins.pw

- DiamondCardz

Note: We use AdBit.co for advertising, so if you want to see stats you can click our little "Your Ad Here" link and the stats will be shown on our page over there.

Good choice on choosing a more suitable project for your abilities though, a static HTML page listing crappy facuets. I guess your last discussbitcoin.org forum was too much to handle, because recaptcha is so hard.

For your information, instead of creating a new folder and putting index.php for each redirection URL, just add this to your .htaccess and link to your php files without .php:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]

The hacked account of TradeFortress either has some knowledge or he's back in the scamming biz, interesting. DiscussBitcoin was actually closed for both security reasons and the fact we were overrun with spam despite Akismet, etc, the time spent to operate it was not worth the usage that the community got out of it.

I think my current setup is fine, thanks. Making HTML pages is a completely fine past-time, when I decide to code something more intense I'll be sure to let you know, Master Sensei.
1790  Economy / Lending / Re: [LENDING] Get Loans WITHOUT Collateral- Loans up to $50. No reputation needed! on: April 30, 2014, 04:21:26 PM
I doubt people are going to overhaul DefaultTrust, which so many people use, because Vod fairly negative repped you for enabling scammers, as have I. This is a really bad idea, you will realize your mistake when you get burned.
1791  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Minerdirect 0.01 Bitcoin Giveaway on: April 30, 2014, 04:17:13 PM
Not fun game.
Mods can always play every game and win example for lottery (DiamondCardz won 2 times  more than 0.05 BTC) NOT FAIR.

That why not much people there.

I'm quite offended there. When I won the $25 giveaway I wasn't even staff. The post count lotteries also required me to wager my own money and I had the same chance as everyone else, so it was fair game. I haven't won a free roll, also.
1792  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [InDev] freebitcoins.pw - Putting BTC back in your pocket! on: April 30, 2014, 06:16:29 AM
Added in some PHP redirection scripts when clicking on links, this is unfortunately because I can't keep running the website if people decide to cut off the affiliate links.
1793  Economy / Lending / Re: [EDU] The Rule of "No Collateral, No Loan" on: April 29, 2014, 08:58:47 PM
For reference...BTC is not collateral for a BTC loan. That's like me saying "Here's $5 collateral, can I have that $100 loan now?" First, I might as well have just taken out a $95 loan, and secondly, if you're offering BTC as collateral you obviously have less than 100% collateral else you wouldn't be taking out the loan, meaning you're probably not going to find someone to loan to you.

QoinPro review - freebitcoins.pw

Here's a snippet from our review of QoinPro on our faucets page:

"This is one of the best faucets we have ever seen. When you sign up, you instantly get a sign-up bonus of Bitcoin, Feathercoin and Litecoin..."

1795  Other / Meta / Re: Unmoderated boards/threads question on: April 29, 2014, 06:22:57 PM
Scams usually aren't moderated. Spam, for example ref spam, is though. Just use report to moderator and a staff member will move it to the Trashcan. Also you can report it if it belongs in a different section.
1796  Other / Meta / Re: May I know the criteria of being a Moderator ? on: April 29, 2014, 05:59:10 PM
I doubt anyone was ever happy that they became a moderator.  Be careful what you wish for.

I don't think anyone is forcing them to become one or put in the work. I wonder how many if any have turned down the opportunity when asked?

I wouldn't be surprised if people have turned down the opportunity. Moderators get a lot of hate and it can be a very stressful job, especially when you're dealing with a large community.

Yeah, I guess, but if you're on the forum a lot and can be bothered reporting posts then going one step further and being able to moderate them directly isn't much of a bigger task.

Nah, I think there's a much bigger difference. Reporting threads lets you sit behind while the mods decide whether the reports are accurate, et cetera. Stepping up to mod, you have to be taught so that your accuracy becomes high enough so that people aren't complaining constantly about abuse.
1797  Other / Meta / Re: [Split] Re: [EDU] Banned? Read this before posting about it on: April 29, 2014, 05:11:22 PM
Thanks for splitting the thread.

Do you really want some INTERNET FORUMS MODERATOR deciding if your business is a scam or not? People are more than capable of making their own choices provided they have all the information, which is hard to get if moderators are being heavy handed. If they make dumb choices that's their choice to make.

Besides we tried it with scammer tags, know what happened? People still got scammed, then blamed us for it anyway, because hey, that newbie with a month old account doesn't have a scammer tag, he must be totally legit or the mods would have done something right?
If you're trading and you want to have a status as verified or trusted then maybe a couple of verification like linked accounts here and there to make sure that the community can simply eliminate you if you're scamming with one strike (or we can implement a 3-strike). It's not that hard to do with all the resources that the forum has on its hands. If you want to be the best, got to stay on top of the game and Bitcoin is a great example!

Like said previously, that's precisely what the trust system is there to do. Trade enough and other people see this and trust you, scam and you get a nice big red warning on your posts in the trading sections.
If it's that simple you mentioned previously we would not have many scammers! It's not that simple;)

Most of the scammers are newbies. All the scammers joining are new, so we can't instantly mark them for scamming, can we? There's a limit to what we can do, you realize.

TL;DR more blah

No one thinks you are trying to take anything down. Where do you get this crap?
I'm not trying to stop you talking to anyone, I'm simply not having negative people in this community, which is why other people are back after talking to me sensibly.
Stop throwing your toys out of your pram wee guy and just move on.
These dramatics are entirely why you are not welcome.

"TL;DR more blah" - Nice post cut, there. I get this "crap" from the obvious. "Not having negative people in this community" - that's the exact same as "I don't want you talking to anyone". To be honest, I'm not losing anything from not going to Dogechat. I just find this ridiculous.

This will be the last post I make in this thread, anyway - I have better things to work on than argue with someone who only believes she is right and everyone else is wrong - refer to "after talking to me sensibly", i.e another way of saying "making them say I am right".

To the below post - nah I don't taint everything I touch. But I'll leave you to it. Good luck with your site, but you need to work on your attitude to bans.
