1781  Economy / Securities / Re: [AMC]-The Official Active Mining Cooperative Discussion on: July 10, 2013, 03:37:12 AM
I'm sorry, but I dont completely understand what is going on. I hold shares of AMC-PT. I realize amc-pt is merging, but how does this impact me as an owner of amc-pt shares? am i able to just leave them as they are and they will represent shares in the new merged entity? am i obliged to change them over, or some other action? I am still interested in a long hold situation for myself, if I needn't make any sort of move and the AMC-PT shares are still basically the same thing, I will do that. But if I need to move them around, what should i do. (not trying to "play the market" just trying to keep my holdings secure)
Ken is still writing up the offering on btctc, and burnside has offered to help by changing AMC-PT shares to AM shares automatically, so you shouldn't have to do anything, the swap will happen by itself.

The only way to swap right now is to swap btctc shares for bitfunder shares.

thank you!

1785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is still driving the enthusiasm of bitcoins over other currencies? on: July 05, 2013, 11:21:02 PM
Bitcoin is Coke. All other cryptos are diet Faygo Cola.

Nothing wrong with that, I simply prefer The Real Thing!

1787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of the Real Bitcoin Economy on: June 30, 2013, 11:15:47 PM
more and more I am thinking that the most likely consumer end usage of bitcoin will be in micropayments. for example; you are reading an online magazine and they want to charge you 25 cents to read a whole article. bitcoin fits this need very well. there are several groups and emerging services following this idea, but it will be a few years before we see a mass adoption.
1788  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: June 29, 2013, 09:12:09 PM
All this optimistic situation makes me want to drop my work, it's quite hard for $500/month, very nervous and tiring, feels like slavery...

Please think this through carefully. Things can happen very quickly with bitcoin, this goes both ways.

That said, if you hate your job, you definitely should start planning your exit strategy. You'll thank yourself later, but only if you don't end up homeless.

Life is boring. Kill someone.
1789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TIL total gold mined / total number of bitcoins ≈ solid ball of gold with ø 3.5" on: June 25, 2013, 08:57:03 PM
The total amount of gold mined is approx 50 cubic metres. That's bigger than half a football field cubed. Apparently some oil sultan in Brunei owns a large chunk of it. The banks (paper issuers) hold very, very little.

1791  Other / Archival / Re: [BOUNTY] Info leading to criminal arrest in ASIC Theft. Escrow via John K. on: June 20, 2013, 12:20:54 PM
its too bad you got burned bro, but the lesson here is; never advertise your wealth and assets. it is an invitation to thieves. you wouldn't tell them how much money you have in the bank would you?

i hope you catch the greasy bastard tho. mebby when you do, head over to blackhat forums with a different bounty to have the thief's identity stolen, bank acc. emptied, life destroyed.

also i hear you can feed the bitcoin economy over at silkroad by purchasing assassin for btc

...just a thought or two...
1792  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 20, 2013, 04:56:33 AM
Any thoughts as to why it started dropping at the moment BTCGuild mining went to zero?

I have thoughts relating to timing, but am turning over a new leaf and won't air them here.

It's a struggle for me so I've come up with a daily affirmation:

It is for me to decide which companies to invest in.  It is for those that run them to decide how to do so.  Friedcat has proven himself to be above suspicion so I will choose to trust in his ability to safeguard my investment.  And darnit, I'm a good person.

yeah! listen to ol' Liberace there!
1793  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 19, 2013, 11:23:00 PM
Is it unreasonable to think that friedcat should address the current hashrate issues? obviously something is up. also...where the hell my dividends!? should have received them hours ago!
1794  Other / Off-topic / Re: Recommend me some books on: June 18, 2013, 01:53:54 AM
The Possibility of An Island by Michel Houellebecq cool funny "speculative fiction" (like SF but more probable) Its his funniest book, but everything I've read by him is amazing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Possibility_of_an_Island

L.F. Celine, any book he's written, they all totally rock. This is the guy who invented modern fiction. Without Celine there would never have been Burroughs, Selby, HS Thompson, basically every writer since 1950. Start with "Death on The Installment Plan" but any book is great.

I constantly turn back to Dickens. People forget how funny he can be.

When I cant decide to read I like either biographies or travel writing. there's tons to choose, and they usually do not disappoint.

(I spend too much time on these forums, I need to work on MY writing...thx for reminding me!)
1795  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think microwaved water hurts plant growth? on: June 18, 2013, 01:43:49 AM
microwaves heat food with soundwaves. there is no radioactivity involved like so many people want to believe. however, boiling water releases many of the minerals and other microscopic nutrients that may be in the water to begin with. probably not lethal, but not the healthiest.

^^^inconclusive; that's why I didn't vote.

I have a question about ASIC mining on slush's pool. what software should i use? will the guiminer work? I haven't received delivery of my ASIC yet because; BFL, but I want to be ready to go as soon as I get it.(in 2 weeks apparently)
anyways, what is the recommended software to hook up my ASIC to the pool?
1800  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GUIminer stopped working. worked fine a few days ago. on: June 13, 2013, 11:16:34 PM
Looks like slush finally removed Getwork support.

Instead of slush's pool, select Other and use the following address: stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333

works! thanks much hombre!
