Literally everywhere you go, ask the people behind the desk if they accept Bitcoin *YET* ... make them feel like they're behind the times.

I admit I don't do this 90% of the time, but I'm a timid fellow, and im going to start.  Today.

185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin deletion project. 21 million to 20 million. on: November 19, 2014, 10:51:08 PM
There isn't going to be 21 million coins for nearly 140 years.
Why do people keep talking like this is happening soon?
Use numbers that make more sense.  13 million, 14 million, 15 million ...

186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More than a year and still no consensus on uBTC unit? Consensus is overrated? on: November 19, 2014, 04:53:03 AM
After more than a year discussing and we still haven't decided what to call 100 satoshis or even if the new unit should be 100 satoshis to begin with. Is consensus overrated?

No.

The problem is that nobody has put together a decentralized voting system for the community / world to convey its consensus.

I stll have *no* idea why this hasn't been done.

Chit chatting (sorry, "discussing") something on a discussion forum doesn't result in change.  Its too unorganized, and diffuse.

Someone needs to put together a voting system for the "community" (which ultimately will be the world) to make decisions on these things.  To make decisions on Bitcoin development.  For prioritizing enhancements to the protocol.  For major efforts like Sidechains.  To decide when they get implemented.

To move us *forward*.

Who will create the Blockchain Decentralized Consensus Voting System?

187  Economy / Speculation / Re: Well that didn't last long... on: November 14, 2014, 03:55:52 PM
Price is going back down quickly, seems like bitcoin cant sustain price growth or higher price levels.  The downtrend seems to still be in tact.  Was it just another fake pump?

1)  Genuine, organic value increase is happening "under the hood".  Its gradual, and over a long period.

2)  People with money are OBVIOUSLY pumping and dumping on top of that "base" value price.

--------------

If you haven't noticed the obvious trends where prices go up to .... then drop ... you haven't been paying attention.

The value of Bitcoin isnt going to rise in a spike.

The real organic value of Bitcoin is going to grow gradually over time, as adoption increases over time.

The rest?  Pumps.

Buy 10-20 bitcoins you're willing to lose and play the system.  There's money to be made.

189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coindesk: Western Union CIO is mining Bitcoins on: November 14, 2014, 03:50:45 PM
Fine I'll say it:

This is huge.

If anyone of you had any concerns about the longevity of Bitcoin and its continued saturation of the market, you can kick back just a little further in your chair and relax.

Always remember that a year ago, hearing something like this would've generated thousands of nerd-gasms.

It doesn't mean Western Union is going to use Bitcoin.

It does mean that its fucking incredible that the industry most poised to be destroyed by Bitcoin, is actually all over it right now.

190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support OpenBazaar!!! on: November 13, 2014, 10:55:40 PM
Well I'm not too sure how keen I am on the concept of "proof of burn" (...ing Bitcoins) for every store owner, repeatedly for the life of the Open Bazaar existence.

The creation of an OB token of some sort which costs money, would enable vendors to show good faith by spending that money to authenticate their store, without a constant, ever-burning destruction of Bitcoins.

You dont have to allow it to be traded.

191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ISIS to create own coin. How can we convince to use Bitcoin? on: November 13, 2014, 10:47:41 PM
Attempting to make it easier to fund terrorism so you can profit make you a terrible person

Of course you're right.  But its a sentiment all too absent in these circles unfortunately.

To the rest of you:  Are you really shocked?   75% of the people in Bitcoin circles hate authority, and go out of their way to defend systems like Silk Road where you can buy contracts on people's assassinations.  What's the difference?   Oops ... what's that?  You only support people's right to take drugs if they want?  Thats nice.  You also turn a blind eye to the murder for hires and other things going on.  I mean heyyyyy ... freedom is freedom right?  Can't shut down silk road just because of a few bad apples.  Anarchists don't believe in a right or wrong.  They only believe in "freedom to do whatever you want".  And fuck all authority.  Because apparently corruption only comes from people in power.  Never from regular folks.  So only give rules to those in power.  Let the rest of us do whatever we want.  That includes ISIS.

If they dont include ISIS, then they contradict themselves.  Thereby admitting that their own worldview is fucking ludicrous.

How is this name change any lamer than the play on "black market" for dark market?

Anyway back to the big people table...

What are the hardware requirements for running a node?  I haven't found anywhere that mentions it (admittedly I haven't looked to much, just starting to look into OB).  I am currently running a P2Pool node for the bitcoin network and have room for another node for testing/dev.

Looking forward to working with you guys Smiley

The change from Dark Market to Open Bazaar is exactly that - moving from pimple-faced teen table to big people table Smiley

I suggest checking out the IRC Channel for OpenBazaar if you have questions for the devs / founders.  Theyre on freenode - #openbazaar

193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Brink of Institutional Investment on: November 13, 2014, 04:44:44 AM
The facts have proved that 3 billion dollars funds is just a gimmick and rumors

She's probably intending to say that it wasnt $3 Billion of investments going into Bitcoin but a company that has a general market cap of 3 billion which planned to start dabbling in Bitcoin.

gimmick / rumors ... she was probably shooting for 'misconceptions'

I love this thread.

Its my favorite on this website.

But why is it even being bumped right now?

There must be a whole bunch of people who hopped on board in 2013 and 2014 that got in at 290-450 and are excited by this.

Those of us who saw $60 and then $1000 feeel suuuuuuuuuuper bored right now still lol

196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why I think cryptocurrency market is a fake on: November 11, 2014, 08:30:15 PM
Thanks for your comments. I am afraid of seeing one thing as current society evolves. I am afraid of seeing a new world reserve currency raising anytime soon, maybe backed in gold. I see governments separating people's currencies from government's currency, and cryptocurrencies being the resource of the poor people, those that did not get a chance for a government paid job. So, to properly understand where cryptoworld fits, it is required to understand where the rest is moving to.

For example, are you aware that there are political initiatives which will allow big companies no getting bankrupted anymore? This will be presented in Brisbane in 2 weeks by G-20.....Where does cryptoworld fit here?

OP  - start listening to Lets Talk Bitcoin podcast.  You'll get some insight into the real world of Bitcoin, where people who arent pimply faced teenagers are actually out in the field, innovating and building the infrastructure.  If this was your main source of Bitcoin info, I wouldn't blame you for your skepticism.  Reddit bitcoin is a close second to the podcasts.

197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Changetip and why it is the killer app that BTC needed on: November 11, 2014, 08:25:55 PM
They are expanding it to YouTube now, and Facebook is in the works.  You'll be able to tip someone on their comment on facebook soon.  That is huge.  Unless facebook finds a way to stop it.  These services might not want people making money off of them?  Wait until human greed gets in the way.

Disqus, Yelp, and several other services are on their radar too.  Exciting times.

198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Patrick Murck of The Bitcoin Foundation - attacked by a lunatic. on: November 09, 2014, 09:51:28 PM
Censorship is never prudent - it is always corrupt.  Let people have their say.  Don't try to control what others think or say.

LOL.  Comments like these are so cute and naive.  You've obviously never had to manage a large number of human beings before.  Painfully obvious.

Its so funny how people like yourself think that only people in power are corrupt.  Its not possible that the myriads of regular people can't also be just as insanely corrupt, and in need of boundaries.

I can only wish upon you the curse of having to manage a large community of people yourself.  So you get to deal with being subjected to the insanity, tinfoil hats, unfounded paranoias, suspicions, and outright lying that comes from the "sheeples".

199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to identify a bitcointard on: November 06, 2014, 02:42:55 PM
Here's a quick profile of a bitcointard (aka mentally retarded bitcoiner fanatic) and how to easily identify him:

1) he only mentions bitcoin in particular, never uses the term digital or crypto currencies in general.
2) he is 100% sure that only bitcoin will succeed whilst..

Here's how you identify a Eurotard:  They use the word "Whilst".
To respond to your post:  It was the same sentence over and over: "Anyone who doesn't embrace alt coins".

Fail.

PS:  I made $150,000 off a $9,000 purchase of Litecoins when it hit $45+
Even bought a range rover with half of it.
Also made $12,000 off of Dogecoin because I purchased and mined on Day 1.
I still cashed all my alt coins in for Bitcoin.  Because im not a tard.
I realized that none of the alt coins have any real world commerce or infrastructure, whatsoever.
As long as this is true, they will go nowhere, and are a total waste of time.

200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monsanto & Bitcoin Argentina - Together ? on: November 06, 2014, 02:29:28 PM
The entire reason Bitcoin is going to take off in south american countries is because of all the corruption in the government.  This logic might also be extended to the Bitcoin world down there too.  It's part of their culture.  A relative lack of "who gives a shit" about right and wrong is commonplace in many South American countries.

Many laws are optional.  Cops turn a blind eye to people breaking rules right on the streets.  The integrity of such a population is questionable at times. It's not considered a bad thing.  Its just part of their culture.  Nobody gets all bent out of shape over it.  Its just how they live.  Try coming to Miami sometime...

In such an environment, are any of you really shocked that shennanigans like this are happening?  In a place where stoplights are optional, pretty sure a fat check from Monsanto was welcomed, to get the conference off the ground.  They often don't seem to worry themselves with special interest protest issues, when $ is available.  I realize this post is somewhat risky to write.  And I don't mean to offend anyone.

I just can't help but think the mentality down there of "whatever whatever", is playing a role in this.
