181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015 on: August 09, 2014, 02:53:23 PM
XMR will be the coin of the next year, there's no altcoin which had its fair distribution.

Many altcoins have a good distribution, especially the earlier ones; Peercoin, Primecoin, Litecoin, even Dogecoin, and many other I'm sure.

Distribution is a point to look for, but it is way overrated. I think technological advances are the most important.

Even when the technological advances are things most users and potential users don't care about?

Yes because in the end, the utility those technological advances create will help those coins get an comparatively advantage. You can kind of see it now already when looking at CMC or similar sites.

184  Economy / Economics / Re: How profitable are exchanges? on: August 09, 2014, 02:39:00 PM
Altcoin exchanges are very very profitable for the people running it, because after 4-8 months, they get "hacked" and shut down. No questions asked :p
185  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice 3 - RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED on: August 09, 2014, 02:37:41 PM

188  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Feature Request: Bitcoin Alias on: August 09, 2014, 02:29:45 PM
Is there any way for bitcoin to have an alias system?

Checkout onename.io the Bitcoin name registration system. We've integrated it into www.rushwallet.com

This is a good step. How would you prevent a situation, where onename.io was compromissed and was feeding your wrong addresses for the accounts?
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 09, 2014, 02:24:42 PM
Is anybody getting the facebook verification email to get the 3500? I'm stuck there.

There is a huuuge waiting list, so even if you get the email you wouldn't be able to get the stellars.

Well, yes he did it! Riding a bear barechested!

He never rode a bear. Its a photo shop. It was a horse in the original photo. I think US and the West need to have an enemy to direct public attention there instead of their own economic problems. The funny (or sad) thing is that the economic war they started against Russia is going to hit them back just like a boomerang.

Found the soviet!
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity on: August 08, 2014, 03:53:03 PM
I'm really hoping someone comes up with a solid anon solution that can be implemented in to Bitcoin style blockchain tech at some point.

Why?

Because I'm involved with a project that is a new implementation of the latest version of Bitcoin and I'd like for it to be able to implement some level of anonymity at some point within the next year or two. The focus of the project isn't on anonymity at this point at all but personally I hope that eventually there will be solutions that won't require building everything from scratch like CryptoNote did.

Wishful thinking perhaps. Tongue

There are ways to add anonymity to bitcoin without changing the code. It won't be on source level, but with service providers. You could do something like a DAC mixer.

194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We already passed the tipping point of BTC on: August 08, 2014, 03:45:58 PM
Soon enough, we will all be bitcoin millionaires.

10-20 BTC is all you need to have at least a million $ worth.

But at that point, it would be stupid to cash out. Just spend the BTC itself, and invest it to keep yourself perpetually wealthy.

I always wonder what would happen if BTC goes to 1000 then 5000 then 10000 ect until 500000. Most people now say they would hold BTC forever, but I think everyone has a point, where he would cashout a biiiig chunk of his holdings.

Like your 10-20 BTC amount. Do you really think people could withstand the temptation of selling at 10000 USD?

correct. thats a valid point. 90% would sell when btc hits 2000, 3000 USD or even 10k - hell, most people wine when btc price goes down 5-10%! do you think people wont sell at 2000 USD then Roll Eyes ? of course most people will.

you have to think stragetic and need balls of steel when you resist here.

That is one reason I am currently trying to "time-lock" my BTC. To overcome to strong urge to sell everything and be set for live at xxxx$ price. But it doesn't seem to be very easy to do...
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin STILL has the highest number of ACTIVE ADDRESSES of all the altcoins. on: August 08, 2014, 03:44:10 PM
These stats could be fabricated pretty easy no?

Yes, they are no real indicator.

But this is an inherent problems with cryptos generell. You can easily fake transaction volumes. Not only is there always a change address, but you can just send millions of USD back and forth, pushing the volume, without really costing anything..

Jails actually are more criminal factories than correction facilities because of the environment. You have abuses of power from the guards, and obviously, lower class criminals mixed with higher class criminals, so the odds are that when you get out you will be on a higher tier on criminality.

MUST READ -> http://www.amazon.com/The-Lucifer-Effect-Understanding-People/dp/0812974441/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407372753&sr=8-1&keywords=lucifer+effect

This is only like that in your country. European facilities are very well organized to help those guys and give them a chance to better them selves. This is done with much education and work. Later halfwayhouses and then with companies that offer those guys jobs so that they have no need to become criminal again. The success rate is over the roof, compared to US corrupt crap prisons...
Exactly it is much different in these places and I think that it actually does work. I wouldn't become better after being trapped in a facility for 30 years either.
Just read about this one: http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/feb/25/norwegian-prison-inmates-treated-like-people
Time to do something bad there and go to prison?  Cheesy

They changed the SITUATION! So the behavior is different, they aren't treated like criminal prisoners, but like people, probably with individuality... No wonder that one in specific does work. That's the point of the book. lol you guys have some understanding problem?

No we don't. We try to make a point. Sure the result of the experiment was like that. But it was an experiment after all.

Do you know the film http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250258/?ref_=nv_sr_1 ? Same result as your book, but those results are falsified because people that attend such experiments are not trained and selected like prisons with good standards.

Those experiments might hold true for US and 3rd world country prisons, but EU prisons are far off.

you are a fucking idiot "The movie is based on the infamous "Stanford Prison Experiment" conducted in 1971."

Yeah? So I am only allowed to argue with your book? What is your point...
