181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ccminer 1.7 with SM2.1 compatibility - opensource (tpruvot) on: February 07, 2016, 12:48:12 PM
Just tested the latest x86 binary in the quark algo (default intensities)

Gigabyte windforce gtx 970 G1: (1366Mhz core)

ccminer 1.7.1:     14.2MHASH
Sp-mod private #5: 18.2MHASH (+28,17%)

@SP_

How about you try running both by explicitly setting the same value for intensity? Your defaults are known to be much higher than the ones from every other developer, making these stats above rather meaningless.

Also, you've been around long enough that you should know by now, that miner client-side performance is not a reliable metric by itself, some folks have reported your builds to show the faster miner client-side, but have such a high reject rate, that the net result is in effect a much slower miner.

A reliable comparison, is set by running the same parameters (not the defaults), and post the hashrate graph for a reliable pool during a reasonable window on each miner (6 hours or more). A nicehash graph is pretty good for this purpose.

Kindly avoid polluting the threads for other developers with random drops of grossly interpreted hashrate metrics.

Go for it.

Let's give that branding a trial run, say for a year.  We can revisit the issue in a year, and if it still feels right we'll keep it.

I think that we should take a vote on when to revisit the issue!  Grin
Now in all seriousness, great logo, statement, awesome all around.  Smiley
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HODL] HOdlcoin 4500% APR - It's ready. on: February 02, 2016, 08:03:40 PM
Figured I'd jump in to see if I was lucky enough to get some blocks and seeing as the specs are an interesting experiment.
In-wallet miner is bugged, and/or so is validation or difficulty, at least for folks on Windows (no clue about Linux)
 - The wallet reports 1GB memory usage regardless of how many miner threads one selects.
 - Debug log shows that the wallet is finding blocks just about every minute, with every single one being rejected.

There's not gonna be rockets launching until these issues are fixed and people can mine.
can u make a standalone miner for it?

Heck no. I would try to help if I had a clue, but I don't speak code.

185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: February 02, 2016, 12:02:24 PM
Oh yeah, that's why BTC is still being mined? Not every coin switches to PoS. It's only a 'phase' for some coins, for others it'll last the entirety of the coin. Not sure you guys understand what a race to the bottom is and definitely doesn't apply here, much like pump and dump does not apply to mining.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pump_and_dump

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/a-race-to-or-for-the-bottom

I prefer the wikipedia take on the same expression, both on the economics/efficiency standpoint as well as the banana example, but I agree that my interpretation might be too liberal for some.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_to_the_bottom

I would summarize by stating that the mining competition naturally drives the overall profit opportunity downwards.
This happens both quantitatively (with more miners competing, there's less profits for each/all of them) as well as qualitatively (each new miner improvement - hardware or software - further denies profits to all the existing miners that do not enjoy the same improvement).
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: February 02, 2016, 07:23:04 AM
Miners generally speaking aren't supporters, they keep a coin alive.
That's an oxymoron bensam. If miners are keeping a coin alive, they are most definitely supporters.

Generally speaking, it's quite funny how all this mining talk casually ignores the fact that PoW is a race to the bottom. People complaining about small mining profits, would do better to just stop mining, and focus their energies elsewhere. Ah well, I'm probably just at the wrong thread...

joblo, does your quark optimisation work at the end? not sure I understand your conversation with sp_ fully: where does the +30% come from?

Joblo's optimization impacts CPU validation of any found shares. This is usually insignificant, but since he's also mining with all CPU cores, it did have an impact for him. It was that his CPU mining was slowing down ccminer.

Joblo: You're invited for a beer over at #ccminer @freenode: there's friendlier dev talk there, some collaboration now and then, and certainly a lot less BS  Wink
189  Local / Criptomoedas Alternativas / Re: [XMR] MONERO - Moeda criptográfica segura, privada, não rastreável on: January 27, 2016, 08:10:41 PM
[desabafo]

190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: January 26, 2016, 06:43:50 PM
Realtime coin market data site CoinCap.io has released an app for iOS devices! Download the app for your iPhone and get realtime market data for your Monero, set up alerts for XMR prices increases and decreases as well as create up to three altfolios so you can keep up with your XMR and other altcoin holdings.

That's nice.... but ppl who are interested in crypto mining are often geeks and won't use iPhones...

Some (pseudo)geeks do use iPhones!  Roll Eyes  Grin
App looks to get stuck retrieving latest market data, then crashes/closes. Uh Oh... Fine now. Cool!

Looking really cool!
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing ZiftrCOIN Release on: January 24, 2016, 07:27:06 PM
I agree that the frequency of their updates is not great. In fact, that was the one thing that I complained about right here, sometime back. This is not a new thing though, I don't think they ever were much active in Bitcointalk. But remember that they do have many other communication channels (conferences, reddit, twitter, facebook, press releases), all moving about, though again, slowly.

I very much doubt that interest is lost, just considering the weight of GoCoin in the overall business of merchant adoption of crypto currencies. In any case, it would be great to get some update from the Ziftrcoin/GoCoin team, where things are, what's been accomplished recently, what are the challenges ahead...

https://bleutrade.com/exchange/ZRC/BTC
https://safecex.com/market?q=ZRC/BTC
Currently requires about 0.2 BTC to buy up order books on Bleutrade to about 1450 sat and barely anything to buy out safecex.
Anyone want to help on raising prices to pre cryptsy crash levels and then trying to keep them there?
If we want our coin to ever have a chance at the promised value as a community we can start here.

I think as soon as GoCoin announces their intentions for the coin, along with the rebrand or whatever they plan to do with it, we may see some naturally-occurring activity on the exchanges that are available. I don't want to see this coin devolve into a pump and dump. Let's just be patient.

Personally, I don't give a rats ass about the current exchange rate, as it is entirely driven on speculation for the time being. Once a real use case materializes (which has been the stated plan from day 1), then I'll hope to see some meaningful demand, backed by folks actually using Ziftrcoin for purchase discounts, exclusive promotions, etc.

I'm somewhat frustrated at how long things are taking, but given the merger with GoCoin, it does seem reasonable, and ultimately, I firmly believe that the upside potential is worth the wait. What I did not count on, was that I'd amass way too much ZRC for my prospective spending (assuming using ZRC for 10% of the total purchase value). Oh well, 1st world problems...

Want to finally try this coin. What wallet is better?
One that you keep safe. If you're ok running a full node, the standard command line wallet is certainly a good pick.

Is there any good web wallets like blockchain's for bitcoin?

@crysx, it's a PoS/PoW Hybrid, will have long term mining going on.
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: January 20, 2016, 02:33:54 PM
[...] WHO on the forums actually does release their miner with conditions and prices that are clearly disclosed in advance? [...]

I did, not so long ago. Works out pretty well as far as I can tell, but would likely get very messy if said miner was being sold to a large number of people. I don't know of any other examples, but I'd imagine other people have done the same.

Side note 1: Being public about the terms of the deal, and changing them after-the-fact, is utter bullshit. I'd say that's much worse than not being public about the terms but sticking to them no matter what.

Side note 2: I understand people are around here with a miner's mindset, and ROI is king. But, if you folks care for the potential of cryptocurrencies at all, maybe someday, try to pick some altcoin that you like, mine it even at a loss, grow a bag, help that community, participate, develop some service, some utility. Much more fun, and oddly enough, big profits on occasion...
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated on: January 19, 2016, 04:30:39 PM
Both of you having issues, please confirm that you are indeed running the latest client? (Version 1.2.2.0 currently).
If you use a recent bootstrap, and sync fresh with the latest client, you should not be forking at all, if I understand correctly.

AEON (COIN LOGO) Version 8.1

Experiments with different shapes.

Double circle with a slight slant. So right away there's another subconcious infinity shape and another 8 on its side. The Mastercard feel keeps it finance related, while escaping from the single-circle coin look. Scales well.

Sweet logo. I don't have a position towards the timing or necessity of changing logo at this point, but I have to confess I really like this one. Nice job bud!

3rd dan, 51 votes.

I vote that the MEW is dissolved, and remainder funds are donated towards CK (as per below) and Monerodice, equally split among the two. If there is another live initiative of particular relevance, I'd suggest adding that as well.

Smooth's point just above is quite important as well in my mind, though if one quickly finds the majority voting in a certain direction, however informal the process, I'd be happy with reaching closure and hopefully not be wasting everyone's time.

Diamond Member. 1000 votes.

I vote that the MEW is dissolved and the funds donated to the only large-scale Monero Economy initiative born within the MEW, Crypto Kingdom, and there, specifically, the Devfund: ingame pool account taking care of the technical development of the game platform.
